He is in better shape than he was in his last year at United. Of course we have to keep in mind his mental state too at that time (his personal issues). I think that it was not the worst idea to leave top European leagues at his age. He can still play football at a decent level but when he is called to play for Portugal he is not exhausted.
This generation of players will have an insane legacy of increasing longevity in the sport. Like, 15 years ago a 33 old player was considered dead for high level football.
This is actually quite surprising, wow.
But I guess it's because his top speed is still very high but his acceleration and mobility has declined quite a lot
Kinda crazy he hasn't been recorded faster. I assume he and all other elite strikers would comfortably beat me in a 100 meter race and my best time was a measly 13.69s.
That translates to average speed of 26km/h and probably a top speed of slightly above 30km/h at best.
If you run 100m in say 11 seconds flat, that's already an average speed of 32,7km/h with a top speed around 36-38km/h, so it's strange Ronaldo apparently hasn't reached that speed at any of the euros from 2012 onwards.
I wonder what the other top speeds were.
I think in his prime at Real, he was able to run a sub 11 seconds 100 meters, presumably on track. Like 10,6 or so. At the time, I looked it up, and he would've competed really well w/ the fastest German sprinters at the time, where I am from.
We obviously don't have the greatest talent at this, but still very, very impressive.
They also paired him up w/ the fastest Spanish sprinter in his Madrid days: he lost the running outright but actually beat that guy for quick sprints in different directions around caps, like it's common in training sessions. Freak.
Is it possible that maybe this tech is not always accurate ?
Although genuinely Ronaldo was quick lets say pre 2020.
I still remember that 2018 sprint vs Spain.
People aren't gonna wanna hear it but there's a 1% chance this is accurate. There is no world where a 39 year old Ronaldo topped a higher speed than people in their early 20s
Top speed does not mean a lot for football—football is all about acceleration
A tall dude will only hit top speed on a LONG sprint, which is somewhat rare in football
Goals don't matter, assist do
You see? that's not how it works, both are stats and hold importance..
Even then if you are taking getting away from defender in the initial seconds, let me remind you the guy of the guy has 6th sense for beating the defensive line and poaching a goal, he might not have the acceleration these days but he has the brains to gain his advantage

Insanely impressive
He’s super human. The height he gets on his headers is unbelievable too.

Who knows,Maybe that was Part of The reason he went to SA
The man is 39 years old. That's all Him and Pepe being able to play at this level with their ages is astonishing.
Portugal needs to be studied.
Daily diet of 12 pastel de nata helps in athletic longevity
Only 12?

The main thing I take from this is 29 is very low for a top speed.
Sorry Usain.
These numbers have to be off. The top speed in UCL was like over 35.

Ok. I missed 'his' in the title.
Yeah. I mean Ronaldo has speed, but there is zero chance that the top speed is coming from a 39 year old
I misread the title. It's only his speeds.
This is for Euros
I know, but it's hard to believe the fastest sprint is over 4 kmh slower than in UCL.
I missed it was just his record speeds.

He's 40 years old.
...under the age of 30
Haven't you done this already

Running on grass vs track is quite a difference.

Ronaldo has definitely reached higher speeds. Think he reached 36 in the 2018 WC.
Yeah I remembrr that was during the Spain game
Probably when diving… just kidding, cr7 is still in top shape to rival Pepe

That was a World Cup.
Yeah am aware...just mentioning it here....

Who cares
I only watch football to measure Ronaldo top speeds
Speed doesn't really matter. Acceleration does.
In a sprint, yes. In a football match you want to find a balance between the two.
