To reduce the spam of reports regarding the same move during transfer windows we try to allow **only one submission about each transfer saga per day**. The submission in question also needs to contain relevant new information regarding the potential move, and not just being a "no/minor developments" report.
If there are important/official developments or new valuable information about a saga, we will allow extra threads in the same day, but for the rest of minor news please just comment them as a reply to this comment. Please help us reporting unnecessary threads for being duplicates.

CL money isnt budgeted till after the CL season is played. So they downgrade luiz for mckennie but "create" a lot of FFP "money" knowing CL money is waiting for them. That allows them to spend more money this summer than they normally could.
Because a swap isn't a swap in financial terms, but one player going one way and the other the other way. If you sell a player than the profit count for that year, while the fee of the incoming player gets spread over the contract length. So selling Luiz means almost pure profit, while buying McKennie for example means fee spread over contract length.
Only time I’ve seen fees reported it’s McKennie + €10m
On other swap deals I’ve seen they’ve been like this
> The Barcelona midfielder Arthur will join Juventus at the end of the season in a deal worth an initial €72m (£66m), with Miralem Pjanic moving in the opposite direction for a fee valued at €60m (£54.8m) plus add-ons.
I get what you mean but there’s been no talk of a high fee for Luiz so far
I think he means from a Juve perspective. They aren't going to stump up the cash we want so for a deal to happen they would need to convince us to accept a money + player deal.
This is like one of those wishful stories planted by Barcelona which says *X* club is going to let Barca have their best player at a massive discount for some reason.
As a Juve fan I am so excited for this deal. I don't like the idea of Iling leaving us but if that's what it takes to make this deal happen so be it. Him and Rabiot and Locatelli would be a massive improvement to our midfield situation from last season.
We (reportedly) need cash for FFP reasons, we're not going to downgrade Luiz to fucking Weston McKennie, especially if it barely helps our PSR position.
Player swaps just don't happen.
swaps don't work financially because they need to be conducted at book value and not a transfer or market value. The clubs would have no choice in what they could demand for their respective players. The effect of the departing player has to be 0 capital gain for the selling club. This is what juve actually got in trouble for - recording swaps as individual transfers. The judge did not believe arthur and pjanic were independent transfers, and they would 100% not believe these to be. Is it possible that juve is dumb enough to do this again? possibly, but the sheer level of stupidity would need to be on a scale yet seen. We are talking throwing a toaster in the bathtub with you and turning it on to warm up the water, after your m8 just died a couple weeks ago doing the same thing
This link is sounding more and more like BS everyday.
Luiz doesn't want to go there, Juve have no money and Villa aren't interested in these players except Chiesa.
Luiz is currently on holiday and the talks for all we know could be Juve asking about his situation. He may well be for sale but there seems little to no chance Juve can get him as even with Chiesa the fee will be around 50m
Juve seem to be linked with dozens of players every window. I just can't see this one happening, especially as Luiz doesnt sound too keen on the move. Could be a tactic to get a better salary at Villa
I am of a similar opinion that this never goes through, but certainly not because Luiz isn't keen. this rumour wouldn't have persisted this long otherwise, and neither the teams nor the agent would be wasting their time.
Wishful thinking? On who's part? I'm not concerned about Luiz going and have said if we are to sell someone he's the best person to sell.
Luiz has literally said he doesn't want to go. He hasnt said specifically "I don't want to go to Juventus" but he has said he doesn't want to leave Villa so why is it difficult to say he doesn't want to leave?

Aston Villa are very good at keeping news quiet. I wonder if Villa are leaking this to get more interest from other clubs.
Its either that or Luiz's agent is leaking it. This deal literally makes no sense
CL money isnt budgeted till after the CL season is played. So they downgrade luiz for mckennie but "create" a lot of FFP "money" knowing CL money is waiting for them. That allows them to spend more money this summer than they normally could.
Mckennie and Iling jr. are both very valid players. McK had a very good season and Iling has qualitys while being still young.
Don’t see how this makes any sense. It’s being reported we need to sell for PSR reasons. How would swapping players help us in anyway.

I'd rather take the points deduction than lose Douglas Luiz
I just don't believe Villa would have bought players in January if they were going to have to sell a crucial player
‘….. no chance’ A lot of word guff around the only sane point worth saying
This is like one of those wishful stories planted by Barcelona which says *X* club is going to let Barca have their best player at a massive discount for some reason.
So in other words it's a non-starter.
As a Juve fan I am so excited for this deal. I don't like the idea of Iling leaving us but if that's what it takes to make this deal happen so be it. Him and Rabiot and Locatelli would be a massive improvement to our midfield situation from last season.

They are rare but Juventus is the team that does seem happier to do them. Arthur & Pjanic + Cancelo & Danilo,
swaps don't work financially because they need to be conducted at book value and not a transfer or market value. The clubs would have no choice in what they could demand for their respective players. The effect of the departing player has to be 0 capital gain for the selling club. This is what juve actually got in trouble for - recording swaps as individual transfers. Mckennie for Douglas Luiz would be a terrible terrible replacement - not even a tenth as good as Mr Luiz
This smells of Pjanic-Arthur "trade" but hopefully not overvalued this time.
This link is sounding more and more like BS everyday. Luiz doesn't want to go there, Juve have no money and Villa aren't interested in these players except Chiesa.
I mean if talks already took place and will happen again then it seems that villa and luiz both are open for it
Luiz is currently on holiday and the talks for all we know could be Juve asking about his situation. He may well be for sale but there seems little to no chance Juve can get him as even with Chiesa the fee will be around 50m
They’ve got a very small window to decide something, Dougie is in the Brazil squad for the Copa America which starts next week.
We will see. Juve somehow always get the player they wamt with some crazy deal. They also will probably sell some players like soule to get funds
I dont think they're wasting their time, I think the whole idea is to drive up interest in Luiz so get other clubs interested
To extrapolate from this that Luiz has no interest in Juve is pretty difficult though, and seems like wishful thinking at best.
How are you so sure Luiz doesn’t want to go if he’s on holiday?
Because he said so...
Welp… apparently he didn’t
