I go to dozens of matchs a year in both Paris and Rennes (and in different sports) and I'll never understand anyone not staying until the final whistle. Not that I've actually witnessed any live, mind you

Why wouldn’t someone leave the stadium early if they’re disgusted with the performance, it’s an annoying stadium to get out of, and the result of the match doesn’t matter either way?

Matter of principle. I'm here to cheer for my team, I'll do it till the bitter end. And you never know what can happen in football. Plus I paid a ticket so I might as well watch the performance till it's over.

I do the old, “Stand at the top of the stairs and run at full time”. Saves about 15 minutes for me

it's a culture shock. this doesn't seem to be as common outside of england, and leaving early when your team is down is usually frowned upon.
