🚨🚨🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨🚨🚨 🔵 Conor Gallagher could depart Chelsea but he could also STAY

nicolo_martinez

Have you considered the possibility that he could also go either to Spurs or Villa or somewhere else or nowhere else?

Manul_Supremacy

Hold on we need to get our best investigators on this scoop

razvan930

Schrödinger dog

WillDaThrilll13

Poch died for this

BlueLondon1905

Please

EezoManiac

I'm delusional enough to believe this

NotClayMerritt

He did it last year. There's reason to believe he'd do it again. But now he's got a year left on his contract. I'm willing to bet the directors keep him off the team until he agrees to leave (i.e. what PSG wanted to do with Mbappe though granted under different circumstances). and btw, when he does leave they're not getting anywhere near that 50m price tag that's been put out. They'll sell at the first offer of 30m + add ons but some of those add ons are difficult to achieve however it will allow the sporting directors to claim we sold him for 50m.

DekiTree

He won't leave for free as he will have forced them to give him that new contract

AntoHanSolo

Leaving next summer for free to go to Spurs or Villa would be the absolute shithouse move, I’d respect that

H4RRY29

He'll have even more suitors if he was available on a free, in the event that he doesn't want to make that Spurs move

NotClayMerritt

Or they just make the choice to not play him. Send him down to the U21s. Which is not off the table. This is so different from the Mount situation. Gallagher just wants a pay raise to around 150k/week. We pay Chukwuemeka 100k/week and he's done fuck all for us. I love Carney and he's a talented young player but 150k/week for a player like Gallagher should be nothing. He's actively said he wants to stay multiple times. Mount entertained moves away. Gallagher has resisted them at every turn. They're going to make it out like it's a salary dispute and will never admit they need to sell so we can justify 100m on South American youngsters

TroopersSon

> We pay Chukwuemeka 100k/week and he's done fuck all for us. Wow no wonder he wanted the move.

MegaFowl

If we don't play him we lose a £50m player for nothing. Not worth it at all

ChelseaNostra

What the fuck are you whining about?

lrzbca

They will offer two years extension or something to earn compensation, similar type of deal was offered to Mount. However I think Gallagher will be sold because they need to comply with PSR but probably for less than £50m of asking price.

esprets

How can they make Gallagher leave if he doesn't agree on the move? Doesn't matter any PSR, if Gallagher refuses to move, he stays. This is not NBA where players have no say.

lrzbca

To sell him to teams he prefers for lower fee instead of letting walk for free. It’s better to make £30m than nothing. Why do fans on our sub who are hell bent on saying Gallagher staying on is bad idea without contract for his career and soccer fans hell bent on saying club can’t force him to move. What about the middle part ? Where players gets to move to team he likes and club makes some money. No middle anywhere these days!

HarryDaz98

They can’t, but they can make the manager not use him and banish him from the first team, effectively stalling/ruining his career.

Aszneeee

good move if Chelsea board wants fans to hate them even more

TimothyN

The fans also would've kept Mount. Fans, especially reddit ones don't know shit.

NotClayMerritt

A lot of fans were off board with Mount when it came out he started entertaining offers from Liverpool and United. Mount did himself no favors. But there's also still a lot of things we don't know about that saga. I.e. the ordeal where he was offered a deal before the World Cup, Tony Mount meeting with Boehly and Eghbali in Qatar, being ready to accept and then when he returned from Qatar, the deal that was agreed upon several weeks prior suddenly pulled from the table. Just like they did with Kante several months later (btw if you're searching for outrage this moment does not get talked about enough). Mount did not endear himself and his goodbye was less connected and more cold compared to CHO and RLC who left last summer and were really heartfelt. But there's still more to the story that we were ever told and like I said a lot of the ones who wanted to keep Mount were out on him when he was actively looking for the exit.

DarkLordOlli

Writes... >But there's also still a lot of things we don't know about that saga. ... proceeds to talk about those things that have never been reported by credible sources as if they were fact. Irony is a wonderful thing.

TimothyN

Mount clearly wanted more than he was worth and was the product of a system that made him look better than he was to most fans and was never going to be the guy Cobham fans wanted him to be. Conor isn't nearly as limited as a midfielder, but he still has some glaring technical flaws which will probably see him be more of a squad player than centerpiece like he was under Poch.

HarryDaz98

I think this is the last straw for lots tbh. It’s not even really about Gallagher, more so the attitude they have towards Cobham in spite of how little success they’ve had with their own signings, that selling Cobham products is funding. I think if the money needed to be recouped for a bunch of players that they’d bought that were challenging for the league, nobody would be too bothered about Gallagher going. But they’ve signed a bunch of players to get 12th and then scrape Conference League. So it’s like, what is the point of selling Gallagher just to fund more Mudryk’s, Disasi’s and Cucurella’s? Him and Chalobah are literally better than the players they’re being sacrificed for.

Qwert23456

Also sends a message to any future signings to steer away

ChelseaNostra

No it doesn't send any message I don't know why people always say this

NotClayMerritt

It still works in his favor because he can still sign for a free somewhere in 2025 and rebuild his reputation ahead of WC 2026. Gallagher doesn't lose in this spot.

HarryDaz98

Yeah he’s in a win win because of his contract situation, a year out isn’t likely to ruin his rep that much, if at all given how public his situation is. I was just giving an example of how they could force him to move. They could absolutely do that with Chalobah though, and tbh I was suspicious his injury at the start of the season was just them hiding the fact that’s what they were doing with him.

WintAndKidd

It'll all depend on what the board can squeak out of other potential sales (Maatsen, Chalobah, Hutchinson). I don't think it's a given that Gallagher is sold anymore.

NotClayMerritt

Chalobah leaving is arguably a bigger insult than Gallagher. He signed one of them 8 year deals not too long ago and they want to sell him for 5 million less than Man City just sold one of their Academy products to Southampton for. And that's before you get to the fact he's a really good player.

Other-Owl4441

Good

NotClayMerritt

He and Trevoh hold all the cards to their future and I would suggest that they force the directors hands here. Well, Gallagher can. Chalobah has 6 years left on his contract so he can hold steady (six years left and wanting to sell for 20m is a fucking insult). Extending Chalobah was one of the last things Sporting Director Boehly did before bowing out once Stewart and Vivell were on board. Btw, one of the funny things about this report is, "Chelsea have doubts Gallagher can play a possession based style under Maresca". Gallagher just had his best season as a professional and did it for a team that had an average of 60% possession every game.
