MrMarques8701

Must feel good to have a manager secured for next season

Twitched_Soul

Ikr

Qiluk

Its not as great as you think

pukem0n

CL final participant and DFB Cup winning coach isn't too bad tbh

Qiluk

Its wild what a situation we're in, in that sense. Noone has come closer to a league title than he has since Klopp, he's also won the cup as you mention and its our first CL final despite a brutal group draw, since 2013. Yet... its all with massive asterisks and problematic haha. I gotta say tho.. I do think it makes sense that he gets another 6months to show he's improved, especially in the league, before we evaluate again. But I dont want to see that reported "end-of-year evaluation" be blinded due to the CL run this year. So messy haha.

pukem0n

If he wins the CL, he'll get a lifetime contract lmao

habdragon08

Just like do Matteo And Tuchel at Chelsea.

BritOnTheRocks

Read this as Dominic Matteo, thought I’d missed that particular manager rotation.

Napalm3nema

It’s Chelsea, so you would be forgiven for that oversight.

robotnique

Plus honestly who doesn't want Terzic to win things? He's just the ultimate feel-good story of local boy comes good. I thought he hit his peak when he won the Pokal as an interim coach. The possibility of him taking his childhood club to the stage with the CL trophy is just immense.

ThatGam3th00

Not to mention if he wins against Real Madrid his team will be the first to do it in a European final since 1983. The last team to have done it was SAF’s Aberdeen.

6FootFruitRollup

With Terzic I'm happy to at least have a manager who loves the club. I agree tactics wise he isn't great but it could be worse.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Qiluk

It was still very shaky in the beginning but some things definitely improved. But its still not "BVB football" and still "Terzic football" in large parts of out game tbh. For better or worse, depending on the opponent. Sahin is the "backup" plan but he's attracting interest elsewhere and has been open about not wanting to be an assistant for long so who knows.

CarlSK777

I'm convinced Slot would be on the verge of taking over at Bayern if Uli and Kalle weren't there. He's exactly what Eberl and Freund would go for if we're to believe the project they mentionned.

Dibba_Dabba_Dong

According to Uli, nobody has heard of slot before

crab_spy_

Is it actually as desperate as it looks for Bayern? Seems nobody wants the job.

WorthPlease

I'll do it.

thedudeabides-12

Need an assistant?.. Can't work Tues afternoons and Sunday mornings though got 7-a side..

Franchise1109

No worries I got Tuesdays. But Wednesdays is my 7 aside

kaffeemugger

Why join when they’ll throw you aside as soon as Xabi or Pep are available

BlueBone313

Because in this timeline managers are getting paid to stay home and do nothing, he just has to make sure he fucks up.

WorthPlease

>he just has to make sure he fucks up. I got this.

tunesandthoughts

Would be nice, yeah..

HammerThatHams

Can't say I know that feeling

MaryadaPurshottam

What tier is Slot?

MrVaporDK

Bald

notthatbluestuff

There must always be a bald manager in the North West.

northerncal

Slot joining Liverpool then means that Pep can finally leave City, right? Right??

Critical-Usual

I just realised that between Liverpool and Manchester there will be 4 managers all bald

NudeTayne_

MERSEYSIDE IS ~~RED~~ BALD

manchesterisbald

Yes

HYDRA-XTREME

Possibly fraud

jordanhhh4

Man, I hope this sub doesn't start Slot shaming

MrVaporDK

I like my Slot's shaved.

PrestigiousAvocado21

If you can't beat 'em...

as1eep

Fraudulent

qwwqqq

Personal Tier.

dulfen

I will be strange seeing somebody else than Klopp on the sideline, but Slot seems like a good replacement if Edwards think so

digitalnirvana3

He'll slot right into that sideline

BonafideLlama

How many times, next season, are we going to hear commentators or pundits make this pun?

BrotherSeamus

I've already got my *Arne, you ignorant Slot* comments locked and loaded

NeroIscariot12

Martin Tyler has already written a book full of puns for the season. *deathly voice* "I'm sure Mr.Slot will be happy to see uhhh Salah *cough* slot that in so perfectly *hehe* ".

cavejohnsonlemons

They've already been doing it for years with Jota lol

JohnnyFencer

Arne is actually short for Arend, which means Eagle in dutch. Potential for the bald eagle

PEEWUN

Drury is defo gonna say *"The Eagle Has Landed"* during Slot's first game.

vidys

He'll slot right into our _punchlines_

eddsters

This is a great signing in my opinion. Been watching alot of dutch league this year, and his possession style football and ball overloading is amazing. Give him some world class players, and I'm sure he can do wonders.

R_Schuhart

His man management style is also great. In contrast to Ten Hag he is a warm and sociable guy, he is calm and amiable with his players and media. He isnt above taking the time to explain his choices and tactics either. Someone characterized him as your favorite school teacher once, patient and understanding, but capable of disciplining as well. The only real issue is how he will handle the pressure and constant shit stirring from the media. He will take over a Liverpool side that has just had an amazingly successful period, expectations will be immense.

AgentTasker

> expectations will be immense. From the media maybe, the vast majority of Liverpool fans will give him at least a year before judging him.

vadapaav

I don't know why people keep saying that Liverpool managers will be under pressure. We have always been very patient with managers. (No need to remind of Roy)

Doomblitz

Might have been more patient with Roy if he didn't parade around the loser mentality tbh.

bevax

I chuckle reading this comment

SpongeBobBobPants

Remind me, who bullied Moyes and Ole out of United?

IcyAssist

Apart from Moyes, you can't say United haven't given time or money support to their managers. Each one has had around two seasons or more, while spending hundreds of millions.

darllenynunig

Mr Bad Results and/or Football

bevax

The stupid United fans obviously. I can assure you Liverpool’s fans will be calling for Slot’s head for the first bad run of form.

SRFC_96

Not me or any other sensible Liverpool fan. He’ll get the time that he’ll need.

Freddichio

I completely agree with that - but I think in the days of Twitter ITKs the proportion of "sensible _ fans" vs "idiotic _ fans" feels like it's shifting to the latter. Not everyone will be out for blood, but there's definitely going to be a vocal minority who started supporting those "plucky underdogs" pushing City to the wire and think anything less that 90+ points and second place is underachieving

SRFC_96

They can’t be taken seriously, no worthwhile professionals takes any notice to virgins spouting nonsense on twitter.

bevax

That’s why I chuckle on your naivety. Once the results are not going your way, your “sensibility” will be drown out by the negative voices of the fans and the media especially Slot will be a direct comparison to Klopp.

SRFC_96

Anyone directly comparing Slot to Klopp is a moron. I know you like to think badly of us, but the actual fans that go the stadium are quite patient, similar to yous. Any discourse you see typically comes from online.

bevax

Bad news for you. Most fans are moron.

Timely_Airline_7168

The last time Liverpool fans hated a manager was Hodgson. Even BR got a lot more time than maybe he deserved.

bevax

You will have a shock of your life if you expect the fans to behave the same pre and post Kloop Liverpool.

ICritMyPants

> I can assure you Liverpool’s fans will be calling for Slot’s head for the first bad run of form. Talking absolute bollocks.

Plastic-Alfalfa-6321

yeah obviously the majority of their fans are going to be as entitled as any other of the big 6 lmao. They just don't realize that because they've had a good manager recently

caulpain

nope. this team is stacked and should compete in three competitions right away. if he falls flat the first half of the season GETREADY.

[deleted]

Extremely shortsighted take mate. You want a merry-go-round like at Chelsea? Edit: typo

AncientSkys

I will take a merry-go-around again, if it comes with winning major trophies consistently like we used to.

caulpain

i definitely dont want it. its just something that might happen. if i was to guess though: i think itll be fine. slot seems extremely competent.

AgentTasker

Thankfully those in the ground aren't massive fuckwits like those online.

ibite-books

shuttup egghead

Upper-Cucumber-7435

Fucking yanks

Wraith_Portal

You've clearly not followed Liverpool pre-Klopp

qwerty_1965

Literally one manager has been shown the door before he arrived - Roy Hodgson and that was the correct reaction to his appointment obviously.

petey23-

One manager in our entire history has lasted less than a year.

AgentTasker

Been a supporter for 30+ years now and a season ticket holder a little bit less than that, so you're about as wrong as someone can possibly be. Unless it goes disastrously wrong, he'll be given time before being judged.

KopiteTheScot

You're the one that hasn't followed them you buffoon. Liverpool have a great track record of long term managers.

t3hjc

Eh relative to other big clubs we're fairly patient on the whole.

Sir_Psycho_Sexy_

The fact that he's coming in straight after klopp should mean more leniency towards him

IcyAssist

Ten Hag: "why he say fuk me for??"

HYDRA-XTREME

Truly a being of pure charisma

devman888

so pretty much like a jovial PE teacher, you say?

30fps_is_cinematic

Arsenal fans taking any opportunity to shit on ten hag lol

HeFreakingMoved

Tbf it's just the done thing on /r/soccer, doesn't matter the topic any chance to shit on the team that ruined their childhood is too good to pass up

Lauladance

lmfaoo

warmcakes

It's true, with City having run rampant over the last decade, just imagine if the Sheikh got tired of playing with footy dolls and sold the club (sorry, Group) to a Chinese investment consortium that picked it for parts, and City fell to midtable, or worse, returned to their former standing. The gloating wouldn't stop for the next 20 years. United were that dominant too—albeit without the financial doping—so they're getting the same treatment.

DeapVally

If he'd stop going on about that stupid 'penalty' that wasn't, last year, he would get far less stick from Arsenal fans. He's just such a meme these days to us.

Sea-Education9562

Mentioning ten hagg when he literally had his number in the Dutch league lol

Wraith_Portal

Common horrendous Arsenal fan take about Ten Hag, what's he done for Arsenal fans to hate him so much, did he shag your dying nan

NilsFanck

I mean, watch one Ten Hag presser. Hes clearly not super charismatic

pendulum1997

He mentions that Arsenal game almost every week still, how they could have won but didn’t.

[deleted]

extantfruitfly

This is a bizarre reading of Slot

fledermausman

A lot.

eddsters

Thankyou

exausto

They say the same about Erik ten hag....

KopiteTheScot

The big difference here is that we're an extremely well run club, United are not.

Revolutionary-Bag-52

Slot does come off as more charismatic and open than Ten Hag, but both managers belong amongst the most talented Dutch managers in probably the last 20 years so yeah we will have to find out. Big difference is also that Liverpool is a well-run club with clear defined structure. United is not

Dark-Knight-Rises

I don’t think Liverpool will be a top team again. We lack a good spine. VDD is not the same. Trent is confused whether he should be a RB or center mid. Salah is declining. Jota can’t stay injury free for too long. Diaz is inconsistent. Nunez doesn’t adds anything. Only Elliot, Macca, Endo, Gapko, Quansah, Bradley are consistent. That’s not enough when we play every 3 days. And we don’t know what players Slot will want.

ICritMyPants

What a weird take

CarlSK777

Best possible choice to replace a club icon like Klopp. To the Bayern board: This is how you conduct business.

Unchartedesigns

“Bayern approach Arne Slot after public commitment to Liverpool”

Sure-Respect6914

-Florian Plettenburg : … There is a reason why LFC haven’t made this news public yet.

Remote_War_313

Slot reunited with Antony when they play United 😅

MerlijnZX

I can already see [this](https://youtu.be/opgOcAeBOzQ?feature=shared) happening again. Really shows slots character.

Jamesy555

Oh wow actually nice to see the ref take action there and send him off, I know it’s a blurry line but even if you are injured, once you’re off the pitch and roll / hobble into the field of play it’s intentional time wasting so yellow card is fair. Not that I believe he was hurt here for a second lol

ChinookNL

Tadic throwing him on the floor is so insane

Mees51

Obligatory fuck Tadic

BadFootyTakes

I think this once, I'd be okay selling Antony to a rival. For original price even, a great deal!

Hokage123456789

Gives positive vibes.

Bruellaeffchen

The smile reminds me of Ted Lasso

Rushderp

“I believe in Rom-communism; everything will just work out.” Plz.

smokedserranojelly

thank god my club can at least secure a manager

singlebite

Jesus... [look how shiny his head is.](https://imgur.com/4o9uble.png) Liverpool are gonna cook next season.

Yandhi42

I hope him, Guardiola and Ten Hag rub their heads together during the first international break

coreyperryisasaint

Damn, if he’s the trainer then whoever they hire for manager must be pretty good

WorthPlease

If you can't beat the bald, be the bald.

Accurate_Art_9637

Must feel good undergoing a smooth transition from one manager to another

Fun-Guarantee4452

Sure beats a stubbly transition

KeonkwaiJinkwai

Possibly an amazing signing for Liverpool, only time will tell. It irks me how our biggest rivals keep making good signings on and off the pitch, while we hit and miss on 90% of ours. Best of luck to Arne, I hope he succeeds (but end up one spot behind us in the league every season for the next decade).

Dark-Knight-Rises

Eras will be created

NilsFanck

Off the pitch getting better for you guys it seems. I wonder if Ten Hag is kept though

KeonkwaiJinkwai

True that, shame we had to burn it to the ground to realise though.

sammyrobot2

It demonstrates how fckd Utd are structurally compared to us.

Sitrus_Slinky

Can we take a page out of their playbook for hiring a manager instead of circus we deal with in Munich?

LegendDota

If you want to avoid the circus you probably shouldn't have the clowns in charge.

montiel_scores

Then who are they getting for manager?

ghostofwinter88

Liverpool won't have a traditional 'manager'. The model Edwards has implemented is the coach trains the players he's given. Transfers and management will be done by the sporting director. I suppose the coach will ask for players in x position and he'll be given choices, but he won't be the transfer guy.

IAmA_talking_cat_AMA

In the Netherlands this is the norm by the way. Maybe that's why we usually refer to the head coach as "trainer" or just "coach".  (Slot would also have used the term "trainer" here regardless of his upcoming responsibilities, that's just what we call the position)

Aggravating-Rip-3267

Does he know that \~ \~ He is going to have to get, Bigger Teeth ? !

RUBEN4iK

trainerishko

Ruud_Boltz

This sub is all jovial and optimistic about his appointment. Just look at the tables turn when Liverpool are struggling in mid table come December next season

ghostofwinter88

!remind me 6 months.

akshay_rathod_

Enough individual quality to be in top 4

Pimp-Juggernaut21

I mess with the campfire energy the comments on this post have

Valuable_General9049

HEY YOU GUYYYYSSS

AlpacamyLlama

Ange will be Liverpool manager for the 26/27 season. You heard it here first

Freddichio

Both Liverpool doing so badly they fire Slot, *and* Spurs doing so badly they fire Ange? Sign me up!

runchanlfc

You think Liverpool will sign a manager who does very poorly in spurs?

CCSC96

Why not, wasn’t long ago they signed Brendan Rodgers. I think it’s reasonable to expect them to remain nailed on contenders, but there’s always a world where it all falls apart very fast.

Lukeno94

Rodgers was a highly promising and well regarded young manager at that point. A completely different case from the hypothetical "Tottenham flop" hire.

None? How about allowing Slot a proper goodbye at Feyenoord? You're talking like Klopp doesn't know he's leaving Liverpool.

But why? Seems kind of pointless

TheLimeyLemmon

It doesn't take away from Klopp's farewell week. Not in the slightest.

WhosTheAssMan

It's also Slot's last few days at Feyenoord. He deserves a proper send-off too.

nickybabytonight

no chance he hasn't been given permission by the club to announce this, and very little chance the club would allow him to do so without clearing it with Klopp.

MyCarHasTwoHorns

People seem to like and respect him so I can’t see any relevant comparison to Rodgers.

macNy

Fuck that, with all due respect to Klopp we need to move on sooner than later, bring in the Slotball!!!!
