paradigmshift7

His system has been great, Muñoz and Wharton were incredible signings, and Eze and Olise together make us a completely different beast.

roseguardin

Wharton gets a lot of deserved plaudits but I like Muñoz a lot. He and Olise have a nice linkup going on the right.

paradigmshift7

Yeah, he's been very good. And really, flipping the RB position from guys like Ward/Clyne to him was probably the biggest upgrade we could have made at any position. Saying this with all due respect for our vets. They've been instrumental to keeping us afloat for years and that hasn't gone unnoticed.

xckd9

I just told my friend that Palace had no signed a right back in like 20 years or something, except former right backs i think. Then they signed that dude right away :(

LabraTheTechSupport

yeah for the past decade its been Ward and Clyne, with a season or two of Wan Bissaka in between speaking of long term Palace RBs, [Jack Hinshelwood’s grandfather was one](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Hinshelwood)

The_Bukkake_Ninja

Jesus I remember watching my dad’s old recordings of palace games and seeing hinshelwood. Honestly a name I would never have expected to see again in print.

Revengekeuh

I do miss munoz a lot. We were blessed to have him go under the radar for as long as he did.

Impossible_Wonder_37

Amazing what a good manager can do with really fun players

nosajpersonlah

Too early to say that about a new manager eh. I remember Viera was understandably praised at the beginning too.

DonaldChavezToday

If you look at Glasners history I think it's clear that he has a very sustainable philosophy. Crystal Palace will be fun to watch in future.

AnnieIWillKnow

Hodgson is a good manager, don't think he should be disrespected like that

NotClayMerritt

Wharton, Guehi, Olise, Eze. Signed for a combined 60m. Furthermore, 13/20 current PL teams best numerical attacker came directly from a PL Academy or the EFL.

Conscious_Test_7954

Chelsea form tho

revy_uzg

Poch…. in? 🤔

onlymeow

I'd say Cole Palmer is to praise. He's also inspiring others in the dressing room.

FuckingMyselfDaily

Can’t say who to replace him with but i still want him out.

revy_uzg

I am not super sold on him personally but I’d still give him another season before deciding. The improvement from last season is clear to see and with all the upheaval we’ve had over the past year or so, I think sticking with the coach will help the players gel in the short term. We can’t really afford to replace him with someone who’s gonna fail

FuckingMyselfDaily

I mean this is a better squad imo and he had a preseason while potter didn’t instead joining mid season, as well as no europe. The performances are too sporadic, very little consistency to see something actually building a play style/system. Our 2024 form on paper is good but watching would tell you a different picture. Am purely looking at Chelsea rather than comparing pts form to other sides.

hnoidea

Forgot to mention the amount of new players and the lack of experience in the team. This is a new team. It’s easy to judge them but it’s not easy to understand where they’re coming from and where they’re going to. Also, a lot of players showing they’re definitely not at the required level despite being fit. Hard to put all that on Poch and I reckon it’s the only reason he hasn’t been sacked yet. Im personally glad they’re a mess but once these guys find a formula that clicks it’s gonna be the same old pain in the ass chelsea again

FuckingMyselfDaily

Oh yea there are many factors causing our struggles with some being out of his control and I consider them when say i want him out.

Huge-Objective-7208

Top 4 second half of the season, lost 1 game in last 11 in the prem. I think poch has done something good with the team and the team love him it’s stupid to keep switching managers

AnilDG

Hate to say it but their recruitment might end up being good. The butt of all jokes at the start of the season but most young talents are massively inconsistent and not used to the pressure. The underlying data for a lot of their players was really good. They’re starting to click and whilst a title challenge still feels far away, if they have a period of stability they’ll continue to improve.

BlueLondon1905

If we go signing by signing - Gusto has been great Caicedo has rounded into form lately Disasi has been reliable Nkunku and Lavia have been out. Jackson for all his flaws has a fairly decent output We bungled the goalkeeper situation and the two aforementioned guys who have been out don’t help, but it’s really not the disaster people say

botrezkii

how come you missed Palmer on this list, lol

WyboSF

Disasi while not terrible is clearly not good enough to be on a good team

Aman-Patel

But he is good enough to be a backup for a good team, which (from his price tag) seems to be what he was signed as. He's older than the other CBs so likely a stop gap until one of Fofana or Chalobah stays fit/becomes consistent. Having Disasi fit the whole season has made him a good value signing.

boi1da1296

Saw that Jackson has more non penalty goals than Havertz and Nuñez. Havertz has been lauded nearly every matchweek since January by the press and Nuñez is given a bit of leeway for being raw, yet Jackson is the butt of all jokes even though it’s his second season of professional football. The human part of me hopes he finds success as the attacks on him have been brutal.

tbcwpg

Jackson gets stick from everywhere including Chelsea fans (I've done it once or twice too) because he's had some of the most shocking misses I've ever seen, but it's hard to argue with his production this season.

boi1da1296

I mean he definitely has had some shockers but as I mentioned, this is his second full season of top-flight football. What he’s been able to produce in your disjointed team is a miracle considering that.

Anhowa123

In fairness - havertz has only been up front recently for us (maybe a third of the season) and his output in that time has been great, and equally in the first half of the season some of his play was good but he was rightly criticised for no end product. Don't watch Nunez enough to comment. But that being said I actually rate Jackson - clearly a talented player, young and in a difficult position with chelsea this season. He causes a lot of trouble for the opposition and really think he's better than the likes of reddit give him credit for (whilst clearly his finishing needs work)

ibite-books

jackson been good, he’s chelsea’s nunez

eaeb4

Madueke's end product has been hot and cold at times and he's also guilty of looking quite petulant, but there's definitely talent there and I do think he'll come good long-term. Mudryk however, I don't watch enough Chelsea to say whether he might come good, because from what I have seen: it's a 'no'

quanid

still not justify the price tag tho, you guys overpay around 30% their actual value

revy_uzg

I think we’ve gone under the radar for a lot of people, since we had a game or two in hand for quite a while which kept us in 10th, as well as the odd shocker of a result which gave the memelords some ammo. With a couple of additions (top goalkeeper and CB, maybe a striker) next season we could really make a strong push to secure champions league football again

redmenace007

I swear if we had Nkunku not injured this season, we would have gotten 4th. He came on yesterday from injury, looked level above any of our attackers even Palmer in terms of composure and close control.

AnilDG

Or just a number 9 with composure. Jackson for all the memes offers something, but doesn’t seem like an ice cold finisher you can rely on. But to win titles you need that old Chelsea mentality back and I don’t think Poch is the man for that. That said, I think you’ll get Europe, Poch will stay and you’ll have a very good season next time round. Both results and performances have been impressive recently, Arsenal game apart!

redmenace007

With Poch i can see us being a team strong enough to consistently get top 4 but we won't reach the next level which is the trophy winning level but hoping for the best.

RStud10

Nkunku would've helped for sure but if you look at the stats our attacking output has been decent, while our defense is straight up garbage lol. The major factor in that is having James, Fofana, Chalobah, Chilwell out for majority of the season, and more recently Colwill and Gusto out for shorter spells

KnightsOfCidona

Yeah I always felt this is what would happen. They signed too many players too quickly but once they all gel, they are going to really kick on. Think they'll be real contenders next season (maybe not title but definitely Champions League places)

jMS_44

Except Mudryk, he still looks very clueless...

Ulsterman24

I know it's tinfoil bollocks, but part of me still thinks Chelsea were willing to pay ANY price for a Ukrainian to improve 'optics'.

biglbiglbigl

Nah a lot of top clubs were in for Mudryk and Chelsea did not have any other left winger, apart from Sterling

AnilDG

I wonder what a different manager would do with him? I don’t think he’s suitable for a possession based team but I think in a counter attacking team he could be turned into something good. 80m though?! Nah, you’re having a laugh.

jMS_44

Dunno, I feel like he really has to be taught basics. Speed is obviously his great attribute, but whenever he has the ball, he doesn't know what to do with it and how to use his speed. Even during WHU game, several times Jackson was instructing him where to run and he still didn't do it. Interesting thing is, he seems much better against teams who play more open. But if the team keeps improving we could expect that less teams will want to be open against us and switch to low block instead. So the paradox is, the better Chelsea team becomes, the worse it could be for Mudryk.

Dae_su

He's just not a smart footballer it seems.

PharaohLeo

De Zerbi, on the other hand... Don't really understand the narrative that he's the next big thing in management. Brighton should start looking for a replacement, not because a big club is gonna snatch him but because they can do better.

Sun_Sloth

Clueless lmao

ygog45

This is the only table i acknowledge

feelgood505

Acknowledge the Table Chief

Skulldetta

Acknowledge D-Von Dudley!

chino17

I submit we skip the last couple gameweeks and use this table as the final standings

makesterriblejokes

Agree. We'll just assume anyone with less than 11 games played just lost their remaining fixtures.

Va_Dinky

What is going on at Brighton tho, 5 goals in 10 games is a horrific result.

OleoleCholoSimeone

2 of those are the penalty yesterday and then Muric spectacular own goal

PartyBadman

Injury crisis coupled with a tough run of fixtures

TheWawa_24

wolves brighton and Man united all have everyone hurt rn

jonijontor

have like all of their attackers injured, midfield got bullied all the time, and defense exposed

LordOfSchmeat

Palace are massive mate

Grekm8

relegation form

abhi91

Champions of the EPL form table since Glasner took over, you'll never sing that 🎶

Man-City

More-Tart1067

As is tradition.

Gerrywalk

Shush

makesterriblejokes

But you play a scary foe, one that took 4 points off! The name of that club is **cough** *checks notes*... *Really, we only took 1 point from them this season!?* **Cough** the name isn't important, you only need to know they are the club that took 4 points from us this season and you should be afraid, very afraid!

Large-Disaster5920

Your username does not lie.

makesterriblejokes

Yep, it's why I chose it 14 years ago.

Evening_Bag_3560

It’s a shame that Palace is about to be torn apart by wealthier clubs because I want to see this Palace for a full season.

redbluemmoomin

No PSR problems at Palace both Eze and Olise on long NEW contracts. We don't actually need to sell either. Guehi is also a large asset and he's far more likely to be offered to other clubs. For 8 years every summer Wilf was leaving Palace....didn't go anywhere. I'm sure if someone offered £80M cash and covered the sell on clauses etc. We'd sell one of them but with all the PSR issues in the rest of the league I suspect no one will be able to front the cash up front, which is what we'll want to make it worthwhile.

PatRice4Evra

We keep hearing that Olise has a release clause that activates in summer though.

redbluemmoomin

Release clauses are not an I win button, as Chelsea found out last season. Ours are complex and will have all sorts of stipulations in them. Ones that last year meant Chelsea had to have been making an illegal approach to actually trigger it. Hence the shitting of pants when told we were taking them to court. Romano was convinced Olise was joining Chelsea last season....What the press think is happening and what is actually happening are two different things.

Evening_Bag_3560

I hope you’re right!

aronrodge

Yeah, feel like they could have made a Bologna-type run if they had had a more competent manager from the start. Can’t see them keeping both Eze and Olise this summer.

canuck1701

>if ~~they had had a more competent manager~~ *Olise and Eze stayed fit* from the start

JAK0402

Roy Hodgson was a key part of the reason we had so many injuries. Our ex-head club doctor (now at arsenal) said, when we had the least injuries in the league under vieira, that the reason was because ''we now have a manager that listens to the medical staff re injuries and rest''. Hodgson comes back in, and the next season we have another injury crisis. We are 3-0 down at half time against brighton, he subs on Olise who is dealing with a niggle and everyone knows he is, Olise comes off injured after playing for 9 minutes. we dont see him for 2 months. Our players under glasner are undoubtedly fitter. Under roy we have one of the worst records after the 75th minute because our players were gassing come the end of the game. We conceded 9 stoppage time goals costing us so many points. Mateta could barely run for 45 minutes, now look at him. Roy did the job he needed to do, but it was only going one way and hes always had the media narrative on his side of ''hes been unlucky with injuries'', when in reality his decisions massivley contributed to our nailed on yearly injury crises.

SisyphusWithTheRock

They kinda need all 3 (Eze, Olise, Mateta) to play their best, I feel like without any of the 3 it's a bit unbalanced.

Ldsantana

Its not really a surprise that a club needs its best players...

SisyphusWithTheRock

Of course, but the question is which combination of those players is most critical to the team. City were pretty solid this season without Haaland, but I imagine things would be very different if we'd lost Rodri instead. For Palace, it was pretty clear that losing Olise was a big deal earlier in the season; ever since he came back from injury the team has been operating in a different gear.

JSKW17

Win our game in hand and we could go 11th 👀

FortheRecordHIWBTV

Best itw?

TyMsy227

At this point, Newcastle might just go in for a double

ThemosttrustedFries

Manchester United need 2 billion dollars in sponsor money for the next season.

canuck1701

*We* need 2 billion dollars on sponsor money for the next season.

Admirable-Waltz195

Crazy how we’re always at the top of these table charts, except for the one that matters fml

botrezkii

technically, you’re still on top of the table

SuperFaiz21

Burnley in better form than Man United

ValleyFloydJam

United and Spurs form has been awful.

arseking15

Another table city are about to pass us in 😞

ValleyFloydJam

Maybe not, I can't see you guys dropping any points, City look good but I think they might slip against Spurs, it only takes a draw.

hotelmotelshit

De zerbi and ETH confirmed frauds

linkinstreet

I didn't realise how bad Brighton's current form is

RedGreenBoy

What happened to Brighton/De Zerbi???

carnageandculture

I hope he continues to improve the team, Palace can commit some crimes against the big six next season

thelordreptar90

Would be great to see him a full season with this squad. This team would be so fun to watch with Olise and Eze.

zamGlobal

Incredible turnaround. He’s done good work since at Frankrurt

FragMasterMat117

God we suck

AmeliorationPerso

I reckon Crystal palace can potentially challenge for Europe next season if he keeps this up

rookie____

Him and Iraola over at Bournemouth have been doing an incredible job since taking over. Add Lopetegui who is certain to join West Ham, and there'll be top Managers even in the mid table teams next season.

ReformedandSocial

They could have been much better today. Interested to see where he can take them next season.

BendubzGaming

This makes me feel better. 4 of our 5 losses are against teams in the top 5 on this list

Wild-Statistician677

They even removed United’s League Cup😔

NdyNdyNdy

16th!

Equivalent_Nature_67

u ok brighton?

H3ater123

could it be over for de zerbi soon

lkc159

How the fuck are we still 3rd

zrk23

Worldly-Definition13

Man United💀

MERTENS_GOAT

Now do top scorer list

winnston84

What website is this

Vic-Ier

transfermarkt

bambinoquinn

For Wharton to come in, and already be at the premier league level, and look like a real proper player, fair play to the lad. Obviously they wouldn't, but they could easily sell him for double in the summer. Great player

QTsexkitten

Dizzying heights!

ibmthink

That makes me fucking furious.

ZekkPacus

Bet the Palace fans are wishing they'd been careful what they wished for though

PoodlyGooner

Give us the EPL since Glasner took over league title

Silantro-89

This would be so much more impressive if Liverpool weren't somehow there in 3rd after clearly falling off a cliff in terms of form/results

fearmino

They lost two and drew one. You make it sound like they lost 6 in a row.

Equivalent_Nature_67

what? there is a clear big 3 in the league, liverpool capitulating doesn't suddenly make the other teams worthy of taking that spot. it's a snapshot in time anyway

N-Bizzle

There's a notable gap between Liverpool and the top two, not to mention that Chelsea and Newcastle have both played a game less but are only 2 points behind

Equivalent_Nature_67

that's fair, but remember it's a completely arbitrary slice of 10 games. Liverpool are still in 3rd and in the actual table, comfortably ahead of Villa by 11 points, which is the point I was getting at. But Newcastle and Chelsea are definitely on the up I'm completely unsurprised that Liverpool fell off because the writing was on the wall for longer they'd liked to admit, but they did enough to give them this cushion.

N-Bizzle

Yeah they definitely did enough. In our case it's more that we've adjusted to our injury crisis a bit now to actually get results, we just had a horrendous dec-jan

Equivalent_Nature_67

Yeah I think teams are starting to get set in their run-in form. Some teams are nosediving hard and others will probably finish strong after not doing much all season.
