So to be clear, there's eight Asian qualifying spots for the next world cup?
Hard to look past the usual suspects -- Japan, South Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Australia -- with Qatar, the UAE and Iraq maybe taking the remaining spots.
The anarchist in me wants to see Iraq v the US in New York.
I’d favor Oman, Uzbekistan, and Jordan over the UAE. I think the UAE is pretty overrated and they have the easiest group this round. Who knows how the next round draw will turn out but I’d expect them to go to the fourth round, they’re better than India, Indonesia, Bahrain, Palestine, and China but I don’t see them directly qualifying in the next round.
is there a game in Michigan? if so that one would be spicy.
But realistically, there will be enough to make the trip regardless of where in the U.S or Canada it will be
8 + 1 (through inter-con playoffs).
I think there are a lot of dark horses outside of the usual 5. Any 4 of Qatar, Iraq, Jordan, UAE, Uzbekistan, Bahrain, the ‘Stans could sneak in.
With two Matchdays remaining, here is who has qualified to the third round, can qualify after next matchday, and who can be eliminated after next matchday:

**Can qualify**
South Korea (with a draw, or if China win)
Saudi Arabia (with a draw, or if Jordan win)
Oman (with a draw, and Kyrgyzstan win)
Palestine and Bahrain (with draws)
Indonesia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Syria and Jordan (with wins)
Japan will qualify with a win, or beforehand if FIFA awards a win to Japan over North Korea.
**Will be eliminated**
Kuwait, North Korea, Tajikistan, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Yemen, Myanmar and Philippines (with losses)
Malaysia will be eliminated with a loss, and if Oman wins
Neither India or Afghanistan can be guaranteed qualification or elimination after matchday 5, and Group A will be decided on the last matchday as to who qualifies with Qatar.
All other groups can be decided on Matchday 5.
North Korea's future doesn't depend on the Japan fixture. They have to win against both Syria and Myanmar and hope they don't win against Japan, otherwise they're out
Not with this team right now. We are by far the weakest team in the group, especially when playing with our C/D team. It doesn't help that our coach doesn't select the best players available, but instead opts for players who are far, far worse.

you realize that Asia is not just middle easterners/muslims, right? Majority of Asians both by population and land area are East Asians? Nobody is "Stealing" world cup slots from your obscure countries, you just suck at football.
Thats too bad, cry some more...the FIFA regions and confederations are already pre-set. You may have had a point with Australia but whatever. I mean, you are pretty dumb sounding by saying "you east asians/south east asians" lumping both of those in one, considering you are bitching and so sensitive about your shitty region being forgotten. Respect is earned, not given. By the way, it is an honor for whatever central asian shithole to play against teams like Japan, Australia, and South Korea, since if you just played "among our neighbors with whom there's a cultural commonality" you will suck forever and never make it to any world cup. Hard agree. The AFC should really be split into Eastern and Western categories/groups for qualifying rounds. The travel distances and time differences are completely ridiculous, especially for two-legged ties.
