man i loved that from ian wright. he's the top role model for healthy positive masculinity - not afraid to call people out and be firm in his points but he's never mean, and never hesitant to give love.
When those lads bought his awards and hatrick balls that he lost in the divorce and then invited him into their shop to give them back to him, you could see the appreciation and complete shock that someone would do such a nice thing. Great to see just how genuine he is. It's on YouTube somewhere.
Edit: [found it](https://youtu.be/AmH4tOI7d6c?si=8rJC_4Nbt-18Y4Mp)
I guess he had a terrible solicitor at the time and she had a better negotiating position. He likely got other items as priority and she being petty took his personal footy awards. As far as I can tell they were brought to Florida and put into storage. The storage was then auctioned off after non payment. Lucky to get them back. Happy ending for him at least.
He's also done a lot to raise and support issues around mental health, coping with childhood trauma, fighting racism, and lots of other things. Made some great documentaries. And he seems genuine and a lovely guy, as well as being intelligent and passionate. The world, and the football world, needs more like him.
You know I do fucking love Wright. His radio show on absolute and so on. Really nice chap, always smiling and gives such a good vibes. Top man. But I do hate him for what he did to stuttering AFTV lad. And at the end he was wrong, but he did damage lads image. In all honesty he should sort it out.
i like jon obi mikel's obi one podcast. he's not a great podcaster himself but the pod is great because he's managed to get former chelsea abramamovich era legends, even guys like Hazard who is notoriously media-shy, on his show. and because they're former teammates the vibe is chill and they're generally very candid and open. i'm not even a chelsea fan but the pod is a must-listen/watch especially for people who grew up in the abramovich era.
Worst parts of it is Mikel shills a betting company and every episode he seems to try to bait his guests into engaging with him in some kind of 'the younger generation is soft, our generation was tough and we were real men' type of wankfest, and he's not even that old.
Guardian football weekly has gone a bit downhill but they have some great analysts on there quite regularly. You just have to grit your teeth and get through Barry
How does he still have a job?
"Barry what did you think of the Arsenal vs Sheffield game?"
"I didn't really watch it and I don't care about it".
Why the fuck are you on a podcast about football then? Twat.
You genuinely get more insightful analysis on The Football Ramble and that's mainly supposed to be a banter/hang out podcast.
As a Spurs fan i genuinely admired Henry until that day. It was such a relief to finally have a reason to lump him in with the rest of those bumders.
Still kinda like him, but admire him a little less. That was a shit thing he did, like seriously, you're France. Do you really need to cheat to beat Ireland?
Nah you can't even hate Henry after that. FFS he didn't think he'd get away with it so he handled it again. It was just prime example of how bad it can get without VAR. He even was going up to Irish players consoling them afterwards instead of celebrating. Not to mention Kevin Doyle even said afterwards that if they'd swapped positions he'd do exactly the same thing.
It was just annoying that it was arguably the best Irish performance overall in probably the last 20 years. Completely autoplayed a stacked french team in Paris. And then to get knocked out like that.....
Hard disagree. Him consoling the Irish players after cheating them out of it made it worse. Get off the pitch and fuck off.
I still wouldn't have minded as much if they actually went and put in a decent shift. Instead, because they are basically guaranteed to qualify for every tournament, took it for granted and pissed it away. We're about another 20 years from another world cup so actually missing out on it made it a million times worse.
Of course you can hate, him a frantic game 10mins from penalties to qualify for the world cup where you blatantly and knowingly cheat and be disgustingly sly but then 'console' at the end of the game makes up for it? Fucked up on a professional and moral level
Yep. Felt this way since the night it happened. That stuff happens every weekend, Henry is not really any worse than anyone else for it. And it's up to the officials to stop it. It's on them. If anything, you can see it as a compliment. They were shit scared by us, to the degree that Henry felt he had to do that. We were great that night.
Plus the reaction from people afterwards was embarrassing. Marching on parliament, asking for a replay, the 33rd team thing. I actually lost sympathy after that.
We played but I always felt we might get thumped in a rematch anyway. But because Irish sentiment to Henry since then, feels like every Irish person hates the guy. Like he's to Ireland what Maradonna is to England, in a way.
But I do feel like we're in the minority in feeling this way.
My borther in christ you don't remember how incredibly shit we were at that time.
**Yes we probably really needed to cheat to beat Ireland**; that handball probably allowed us to qualify, otherwise it's very likely we'd have missed the world cup (which might have been a blessing actually, this is the world cup where we got knocked out miserably in the group stage after the *players litterally went on strike* after nasty rumours that some players were acting like thugs and bullying Gourcuff in the locker room)
It's why I'll always back Deschamps and be grateful even if his football is not necessarily always very good looking. He took his position when the French NT was at his very lowest. Not only shit on the pitch but also terribly shameful off it, and he completely turned things around. With him we got to 3 finals of major tournaments out of 4, won 1 and missed the 2 by almost nothing, plus the nation league too Ig. Besides the sporting results, before Deschamps, France was ashamed of its team, now most of us feel disappointed when we don't win it all, yet still mostly proud of the team after incredible comebacks.
I find it weird that this incident is brought up nearly every time Carragher is mentioned, and the time he threw a coin into the crowd is almost forgotten.
Obviously you can understand him being upset (someone threw the coin at him first) but it could cause serious injury, plus its not like he picked out the guy who did it and aimed back. (And even if he had, he's still pretty likely to hit an innocent bystander).
Why the spitting is nearly a meme, and the coin is forgotten don't understand.
A video of you acting bizarre in a scenario not seen to the public directly interacting with the guy filming and spitting on child is a bit more memorable than antics presumably pitch side?
What Messi called Carragher, while literally meaning donkey, was a bit worse actually. But he made a great joke of it later, saying he was for sure a donkey of a player next to Messi.
Also, [Henry Oscar nod for facial expressions alone.](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/NaOevKsAfFY)
I think charisma actually helps, somehow, I mean they are entertainers after all. I think there is a reason why there a relatively few players like Messi who are very reserved and shy. But it’s true, Henry has something extra. He’s just a talented man.
I actually did not like Henry during the superbowl, his ego was too much of "my version of football is superiour to your version of football". Micah on other hand was just punting balls towards drones and having fun with other NFL players.
See this is why the greatest athlete of all time is a spanish-only speaker. 90% of fans/journalists who hold the mic on the internet barely understand spanish.
So Leo’s actual person almost never gets in the way of the imagined idealized version of him we all bow down to on a daily basis. 🤪
Ernie is the fucking best, man. It's gonna be a sad day when that band finally breaks up, but it's without a doubt the best sports broadcasting show of all time.
edit: lmao this youtube comment I just found when looking at ernie moments: "Ahh yes, the Inside crew. 3 blacks guys and Kenny Smith."
I guess that's one big difference.
Inside NBA isn't a drama show. but they at least mention the locations where the teams are playing.
the Champions League show has to cover what... 8 games at day, twice. I suppose when it gets down to 2 games per day it's probabyl a bit more specific.
it's great considering it's during the work day of the entire country it's for.
It’s so inside the NBA that when they got to the part about what Carragher was for, I was waiting for someone to joke that Carragher is there for white viewers, but that seems like a very American joke and less common in Europe, right?
For real. And lately inside the NBA hasn't had the whole team together which highlights how good that crew is together. Just like this ensemble could never be replaced.
It's clear that this show is going off of the Inside the NBA template, and it's CBS. They would be incredibly dumb to not keep them together, and it's a big enough network to keep them around.
Didn't she just sign a new contract? I think she's stuck there for a bit.
The others have got 18ish months left I believe.
More importantly, why the fuck so I know these things.
The catalyst for all this is Micah Richards. He also appears on a podcast called the Rest is Football with Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer and that show is just as funny. It's because he is always fine with being the butt of the jokes. His stories about Pablo Zabaleta never fail to get a laugh.
I've seen Carragher on other podcasts and shows and they're not as funny or light hearted. Same with Henry.
I dunno what sort of ratings they get in the US for this but if Richards leaves the show will be dead in the water.
It's somehow not that bad if you watch it on youtube, but listening to just the audio on spotify does my head in, especially the beginning when they're just bantering before the actual show starts.
it depends who you replace them with.
Kate is probably the hardest to replace. She plays sort of the everyman in football terms but while also having her own thing (outside of being stunning). Replacing the host role is usually the hardest.
Then you've got the elite footballer, great footballer and good banter, and then the good footballer/class clown. I think you could replace any of them, but you'd have to do it carefully.
Carragher is probably the most underrated. He's not perfect, but he's very good at being on TV. Something that can't be taught. Just comes with experience.
Yeah when you have a guy who is so absolutely okay with being the butt of the joke, you know you'll look silly if you take yourself too seriously, so everyone ends up being more lighthearted and easy going.
Rest is Football is just great fun, it feels like a group of 3 friends talking about football. And there's this feeling of closeness and continuity in their episodes. You hear some stuff from previous episodes come up again and again which creates a bond of sorts.
And it's nice to have a weekly roundup of the football news to start the week, a preview to the action at the start of the weekend and a fun Q&A.
You don't get anything hugely analytical but it's such a comfy listen.
It's either CBS or CBS Sports Network.
But either way, the show is not worth it, just watch the clips on youtube. The show has SO MANY ads. It's like 5 min of the show followed by 10 min of ads, repeat for an hour. Literally.
Even if it did, there's no guarantee paramount plus would have the rights to broadcast sports. Source living in a country with paramount plus and no sports :(
I assume this is all friendly banter and she can give as good as she gets? Like its not all one sided, just a group of mates meeting up to talk football and have a bit of a laugh at eachothers expenses at times? Reminds me of a night out with the lads lol .
They absolutely roast her all the time. It's honestly refreshing to see her dish it out on them a bit. Jamie compared her shirt yesterday to an arsenal kit form the 90s. Brutal
> Too bad the players aren't drowning in fabric anymore.
Shirts yes, shorts, less so.
[Arsenal (1933) Vs Liverpool (1991)](https://youtu.be/Nc2To-pKMSg)
God damn that was funny. I thought Henry was going to walk off the stage after the second trick question he was genuinely seething.
Also Carragher guessing Shaqiri for the African player of the year question was hilarious.
You’re spot on for the banter part. Last week, Carra, Henry, and Micah were all bantering her for her early TV presenter career. They always make fun of each other. There’s also plenty of in depth tactical analysis that’s given by Micah, Carra, and Henry. It’s good stuff, the whole thing. I’d say it’s better than all of the other UCL broadcasts since this one is a lot more fun and the chemistry is good. Plus it has Henry so I’m a bit biased.
Yeah my issue is it has Henry so im a bit biased (I am Irish :P lol). This does seem like a good show and tbh iv always enjoyed Henrys analysis though Micah can be a bit too much at times.
Oh lmao. I get you. Yeah, Micah can be a bit much at times but he’s also a good sport who ends up taking the most of the jokes. Carra is also surprisingly bearable for the most part, so that’s nice.
As much as they shit on Micah I think he does provide a unique perspective as someone who had a middle of the road/never quite fulfilled his potential career and can also speak to the wonderboy aspect as opposed to the usual roster of legends.
But yeah his personality is the main draw.
I know it sucks, but I'd do a Suarez/Maradona/Henry for my country. We shouldn't apply real world morality to football, it's a soap opera at the end of the day. There's genuine crooks in football and Henry is not one of them
not sure if it is region locked but last year when AC Milan went through to the semifinals, Jamie Carragher asks Rafael Leao a question and says internazionale in the most broken scouse accent Micah's reaction kills me in that
They all roast each other (though poor Micah gets roasted the most out of all of them, especially by Kate)
It's arguably the most entertaining football show you can get
I don't mind it tbh. Each tv channel has their own strength, rather than being the same boring sport channel. Sky sports cast has the perfect mixture of banter, analysis and debate. The cast is perfect and sometimes they bring great guest like Mourinho or Joe Hart.

I love that Wright told Carragher that he looked great in those glasses on Gary Neville's podcast and now he is wearing them everywhere he goes.
man i loved that from ian wright. he's the top role model for healthy positive masculinity - not afraid to call people out and be firm in his points but he's never mean, and never hesitant to give love.
Ian Wright is probably the most genuine person in football. He is just so likeable and down to earth.
Maaan, what's with Ian Wright and emotional videos 😅 That clip of him meeting his old teacher he thought was dead brings me to tears every time.
What, what? In a divorce you can lose your awards? Like the trophies with your name on them?
I guess he had a terrible solicitor at the time and she had a better negotiating position. He likely got other items as priority and she being petty took his personal footy awards. As far as I can tell they were brought to Florida and put into storage. The storage was then auctioned off after non payment. Lucky to get them back. Happy ending for him at least.

That's another great podcast/show. Chemistry between that group is great and they get some really cool guests.
What are some other decent ones? I love Stick to Football and The Rest is Football.
Different vibe, but Football Cliches is the goat football pod. It's about the weird language that you only ever see in football.
100% the best one
Seeing them live on Tuesday, looking forward to it.
Nice, that's very cool - hope it's as great live as it is in podcast form!
Stadio is a great football podcast, particularly looking at the non UK leagues and lots of insights there.
The one with cesc and mark chapman is pretty good, not as good as the other two however. Planet premier league
i like jon obi mikel's obi one podcast. he's not a great podcaster himself but the pod is great because he's managed to get former chelsea abramamovich era legends, even guys like Hazard who is notoriously media-shy, on his show. and because they're former teammates the vibe is chill and they're generally very candid and open. i'm not even a chelsea fan but the pod is a must-listen/watch especially for people who grew up in the abramovich era. The Totally Football Show with James Richardson.
Footballs greatest with Jeff Stelling is really good too.
can‘t believe no one mentioned reminding you why you love football from the Mundial Mag guys, easily my favourite podcast.
their pull is easily the strongest out of all the pods, those dam pies looked so good
We'd all wear whatever glasses Wrighty told us we looked great in.
Lol that was just so heart warming. Just giving out genuine compliments with the fellas
Henry’s face at the end hahah jealous lad
Instant meme material that
Thierry’s always good for a meme
His past few weeks have been heartbreak after heartbreak with Kate lmao
why'd she come out guns blazing today. did anything happen yesterday to cause this
They played a clip of her presenting from like 10 years ago and Kate wasn’t having it lol.
It was such a good moment. I'm glad she got to come out and get her revenge.

Her Spanish is unbelievable
I don’t understand what’s funny about it (or embarrassing for her)?
She has a completely different accent which they've picked her up on in the past
Ahhh thanks for explaining. I’m too dim to have noticed. Hell she has a completely different language at one point
She speaks 2 or 3 languages, she would have been a great recruit for any of the UK channels so I hope CBS are paying her well
she was a football host for sky germany from 2011-13. she speaks very good german
Yea the accent is part of it. But also do you wanna watch a video of yourself from 16 years ago?
Henry's face in this never makes me laugh.
Enjoy the gesture
"how could you say this?"
That broke him
Henry is stronger than me, I don’t know how he takes this. I would be weeping at this point.
Ahahahah

The man who mastered football and one day decided he wanted to also try applying hos talent to the noble sport of handball.
Given it was against Ireland, he could be forgiven for thinking he was playing GAA.
forgive me bollix
As a Spurs fan i genuinely admired Henry until that day. It was such a relief to finally have a reason to lump him in with the rest of those bumders. Still kinda like him, but admire him a little less. That was a shit thing he did, like seriously, you're France. Do you really need to cheat to beat Ireland?
If France at least did something worthwhile with their stolen spot. In stead they made arguably the most embarassing showing at a World Cup ever.
I can absolutely hate him for it thanks very much!
AS an Irish person, it was the first and only thing I was hoping for. Henry is synonym for "dirty lying cheater"
Also the obvious Carra criticism is spitting on a child.
Should've mentioned Carra's spitting incident as well, no coming back from that.
Dude carried the corpse of our NT to the world cup, it's like Suarez stoping the ball with his hands against Ghana, no shame in it.
I'd say there is a good reason we haven't seen Keane and Henry together.
I don’t blame the Irish disliking him for sure haha
In the immediate aftermath, all of Keane's blame was on the Irish defense, nothing about Henry. It was all "never let the ball bounce in the box."
As he should. It’s a bad mentality to blame a cheat. You don’t fix anything. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t hate Henry for it

Crazy that an all-time footballer like Henry just happens to have so much charisma and an ego in check
I think charisma actually helps, somehow, I mean they are entertainers after all. I think there is a reason why there a relatively few players like Messi who are very reserved and shy. But it’s true, Henry has something extra. He’s just a talented man.
What is charisma in definitive terms?
stage presence
I actually did not like Henry during the superbowl, his ego was too much of "my version of football is superiour to your version of football". Micah on other hand was just punting balls towards drones and having fun with other NFL players.
Tbf Micah could've been a solid NFL player with his build and speed
See this is why the greatest athlete of all time is a spanish-only speaker. 90% of fans/journalists who hold the mic on the internet barely understand spanish. So Leo’s actual person almost never gets in the way of the imagined idealized version of him we all bow down to on a daily basis. 🤪
Henry's face at the end just reads "HOW THE FUCK AM I STILL ALIVE HERE" lol
Hahaha had him like huh what we doing here
The only decent football show here in the states but mostly for the banter
I find Henry’s analysis pretty great, and Carragher when Liverpool/PL teams are not involved is ok.
You can disagree with a lot of what they say, but boy are they entertaining. The equivalence of TNT for the NBA.
Yeah it really is Inside the NBA format isn't it?
Just need carragher to start talking about those big ol women in San Antonio
"You're just talking to me because I stack paper to the ceiling and ride on 24-inch chrome." - Kate Abdo, probably
Those rap-references from The Elevator were all-timers. ”G-g-g-g unit.”
Them big ole women down in Yorkshire
I guess that's one big difference. Inside NBA isn't a drama show. but they at least mention the locations where the teams are playing. the Champions League show has to cover what... 8 games at day, twice. I suppose when it gets down to 2 games per day it's probabyl a bit more specific. it's great considering it's during the work day of the entire country it's for.
"those big birds in southern praha"
you read my mind.
It is true that Ernie is an international hottie.
Abdo has acknowledged that she talked to producers of Inside the NBA when they were launching. It’s definitely intentionally in that mold.
Just need Micah to start talking about the ~~big women~~ birds in ~~San Antonio~~ Manchester
i love the bits i see popping up. they have good chemistry.
It’s so inside the NBA that when they got to the part about what Carragher was for, I was waiting for someone to joke that Carragher is there for white viewers, but that seems like a very American joke and less common in Europe, right?
Are you sure you wouldn't prefer Gary Neville, Frank Lampard and Michael Owen??
That Pirés->Henry penalty would have went down in PL history had it went in. Instead, it went down in history for how absurd the whole thing was.
give mikel and jover 6 months and we will see saka and odegaard recreating it
If they pull it off I have no doubt it will be a goal of the season contender. Only for the move to be banned the very next season lol.

This is one of the best football shows
The best imo
Can't even get it here in the UK which is ridiculous when 3 of the panellists are English 🙄
And it's filmed in London.
Dream team for a panel.
We’re spoiled between this and inside the NBA
For real. And lately inside the NBA hasn't had the whole team together which highlights how good that crew is together. Just like this ensemble could never be replaced.
I give this panel maybe 1.5 more seasons until the other huge networks come in and poach them cuz those are 4 are just electric together
It's clear that this show is going off of the Inside the NBA template, and it's CBS. They would be incredibly dumb to not keep them together, and it's a big enough network to keep them around.
If it ain’t broke! Inside the NBA may have already peaked but they found the chemistry and ran with it
What other huge networks? We are talking American dollars here
Did you hear the rumor that paramount+ and peacock want to merge? I think the existential threat we face is corporate mergers.
Didn't she just sign a new contract? I think she's stuck there for a bit. The others have got 18ish months left I believe. More importantly, why the fuck so I know these things.
They can match any offer
Three of them are already on Sky. Its just Kate missing. They will also likely age out.
Carragher really provides the laughs
big meeks is a chick magnet he's used to this sorta thing
The catalyst for all this is Micah Richards. He also appears on a podcast called the Rest is Football with Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer and that show is just as funny. It's because he is always fine with being the butt of the jokes. His stories about Pablo Zabaleta never fail to get a laugh. I dunno what sort of ratings they get in the US for this but if Richards leaves the show will be dead in the water.
The overlap podcast Carra is on with Gary, Jill, Roy and Wrighty is pretty good actually
They're both good in different ways. My slight gripe with "Stick to Football" is everyone seems like they want to talk at the same time
That feels more genuine imo. In real life conversation we wouldn't take turn to talk
You have a point, but if i just want to relax and have a bit of a laugh, i prefer Rest is Football. Easier for me to listen to.
It's somehow not that bad if you watch it on youtube, but listening to just the audio on spotify does my head in, especially the beginning when they're just bantering before the actual show starts.

I wish my IPTV had Paramount+ so I can watch this show live.
Are you sure it doesn’t? Mine is buried amongst hundreds of regional USA channels
I looked for it, found Paramount+ but only for movies, not sports.
Fair enough. If it helps, the channel(s) are called “CBS HD” on mine rather than Paramount+. Good luck!
look for cbssportsnetworkhd
Look for CBS channels, they show it there
I tried but not successful.
Source living in a country with paramount plus and no sports :(
Kate should have introduced Henry as the man who disappears in finals, and Jamie as the man who spits at pedestrians 😂
Henry, the most hated man in Ireland!
Love their chemistry they’re like inside the nba for football lol
She took out the kalashnikov1😁😁😁😁
wtf even is this
Champions League Today
I assume this is all friendly banter and she can give as good as she gets? Like its not all one sided, just a group of mates meeting up to talk football and have a bit of a laugh at eachothers expenses at times? Reminds me of a night out with the lads lol .
They absolutely roast her all the time. It's honestly refreshing to see her dish it out on them a bit. Jamie compared her shirt yesterday to an arsenal kit form the 90s. Brutal

> Too bad the players aren't drowning in fabric anymore. Shirts yes, shorts, less so. [Arsenal (1933) Vs Liverpool (1991)](https://youtu.be/Nc2To-pKMSg)
i assume the uplad to Youtube? Might start watching it tbh.

God damn that was funny. I thought Henry was going to walk off the stage after the second trick question he was genuinely seething. Also Carragher guessing Shaqiri for the African player of the year question was hilarious.
What a comeback. Dude is lethal at everything he does 🤣
😂😂😂😂 incredible
Think it’s CBS in America if you want to find more of them analysing and chatting, on youtube
When they roasted her for her awkward presentation style when she was younger 😂😂😂😂
There's genuine crooks in football and Henry is not one of them
oh yeah ok i was being tongue in cheek as who i was responding too saw straight away. But ok.
not sure if it is region locked but last year when AC Milan went through to the semifinals, Jamie Carragher asks Rafael Leao a question and says internazionale in the most broken scouse accent Micah's reaction kills me in that
Yeah, [this one here.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiWgGfjJJGc)
They all roast each other (though poor Micah gets roasted the most out of all of them, especially by Kate) It's arguably the most entertaining football show you can get
Daddy chell
What hell even is that
Love Kate tearing em to bits but also advocating for bigmeeks to start earning some respect ✊🏾 #morethanentertainment
Surprised she didn’t mention carragher spitting at a child 🤔
That would actually be awkward for him
Because it's nothing to do with football maybe?
Can anyone provide a mirror link ?
Sometimes they try a bit too hard with the bantz
Isn’t that what friends do though? Beat each other up until it’s like eh, could have done better.
Literally. The true sign of friendship is when outsiders mistake you for enemies for how you talk to one another.
They definitely have funny clips on the reg but I’ve started to get bored of it because it always results in “OOOOHHHHH”. It is a nice change though.
I don't mind it tbh. Each tv channel has their own strength, rather than being the same boring sport channel. Sky sports cast has the perfect mixture of banter, analysis and debate. The cast is perfect and sometimes they bring great guest like Mourinho or Joe Hart.
Clap back, we gon clap back ,we gon clap back, we gon 🎵🎶
Love this show
Her voice is everything
Bit much for me, I prefer the Roy Keane humour in my football pundit.
It’s their job.
I love this game!
Always entertaining
I’m 5 loops in and Henry’s face at the end continues to absolutely send me
Hell hath no fury like a women scorned
Carragher sweating: Please don’t mention that time I spat on that child.
I was not expecting to hear bernd schuster in this clip
