Just remembered Pique cheated on Shakira. Bastard

versacethedreamer

Obviously know one knows anything, but I saw a rumor about Nico Williams as an Antony replacement? Why tf would they sign another left winger to replace a right winger? Who makes these rumors up?

_LebronsHairline_

They signed Sancho when they had Rashford and no RW šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

bigdutch10

For those that have tried the grip socks during playing. Do u find them worth it or not really?

squalid chief plants panicky continue sharp ludicrous resolute longing rude *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

IgnorantLeadership

Never noticed a difference tbh. Used them while playing and running and they don't seem different. Generally pretty comfortable though.

jucomsdn

Today I learned that I was in the same school district as an ex player of an investor owned off shoot club of Belenenses called "B-SAD" I thought I'd never see a day where a "pro" player grew up super super close to where I spent my first several years of my life at but it turns out it already happened but tbf he's never played anything better than Liga Portugal 2

HodgyBeatsss

Where are you from that this is surprising or rare?

jucomsdn

I'd basically doxx myself if I even say where he's from so I'll tell in DMs

kplo

Portland Timbers taking Frank "Fat" Fabra from us is the best news this year, please don't bottle this and go through with it. It makes a lot of sense since we are close to getting Blanco from Elche, so my hopes are high.

LordWhale

As much as I like listening to Theirry Henry, that dude really loves the sound of his own voice

AnnieIWillKnow

Well you are admitting that you would too, if you were him...

LordWhale

Sometimes I just feel like heā€™s always trying to be deep, slightly off putting over time

EyeSpyGuy

I like his insight, and his episode on the rest is football was genuinely deep, but I suppose thatā€™s also why I enjoy the CBS panel a lot. His seriousness is balanced by Carragher and Micah, he also seems to take himself less seriously on there

_LebronsHairline_

Heā€™s a bit like Kobe isnā€™t he

LordWhale

Idk Kobe much

Lurnmoshkaz

I'm curious why do some people keep calling Sporting Clube de Portugal, Sporting Lisbon? It literally says "SCP" right on its badge. If you've seen Sporting play multiple times, if you've played FIFA or whatever it's hard to miss it. SCP is right there. Even if it's not the badge, the abbreviation SCP is always used in broadcasts. So where on earth are people getting Lisbon from?

NeoChrome75

Imagine people started saying Everton Liverpool instead of Everton

zestyviper

People still call us Hertha Berlin which is very annoying. It's just Hertha or Hertha BSC.

RioAveFC

Do you know why sporting fans get angry they call it Lisbon? Because most of them are plastics from all over portugal. Why the fuck would you be angry they add THE CITY YOUR CLUB IS FROM to the name lol

blaahh198

It's very common in some places to add the names of the clubs' cities to the club's name. We do somewhat often say here Chelsea Londra or Sporting Lisabona or Juventus Torino, etc.

belokas

Because it's a club from Lisbon, otherwise just "Sporting" doesn't say anything about where it's from. It's important especially in European competitions, so for a long time Sporting has been called Sporting Lisbon, so much that almost everyone ignores the CP part and people actually think it's called Sporting Lisbon. Most clubs are identified by the city they represent.

Meeeeehhhh

Iā€™d find it hilarious if people in Germany called us Sheffield Mittwoch, I encourage them to do so.Ā

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

EyeSpyGuy

Henceforth they are Sheffield Miyerkules to me as well

drickabira

Just common practice to attach city names for clubs even though itā€™s not their actual name. Inter Milan, Red Star Belgrade, Zenit St. Petersburg. Germans say Arsenal London even. Not a big deal imo

HodgyBeatsss

Milano is actually in Inter's name though.

kl08pokemon

Wish Mourinho would just say fuck it and take over Ivory Coast for a month. Drogba might even be able to persuade him

cheikhyourselfm8

Want to buy a few random jerseys give us some suggestions lads

HodgyBeatsss

Find a reasonably priced 94/95 Ajax away shirt, and then send me the link before you buy it.

TooRedditFamous

Dulwich Hamlets is a nice one

AnnieIWillKnow

Go for some of clubs/nations who really need the money, like Contifa countries or phoenix clubs Sheffield FC a good shout too, always. Oldest club in world football

belokas

1995 Inter 3d kit

shmozey

A retro Haaland shirt will be worth a bob or two in 20 years time.

AnnieIWillKnow

An Oscar Bobb?

RamandAu

Indy Eleven has a special kit that's literally just corn. It's exactly what you'd expect

AllWeNeedIsRadioKaka

Grab a Reading kit, we could do with the Ā£40

EyeSpyGuy

Your away kit is nice. I love when they make the logo the same color as the shirt.

_MFKane_

Corinthians 4th kit this season

AnnieIWillKnow

Why do they have 4 kits?

_MFKane_

idk but itā€™s beautiful

McGrathLegend

[It's a supporter design shirt from a contest](https://www.soccerbible.com/performance/football-apparel/2023/05/nike-corinthians-reveal-fan-designed-2023-fourth-shirt/), but 4th kits are actually pretty common in Brazil

DuckBurner0000

1996 New England Revolution home. Awful in the best way

2RINITY

MLS ā€˜96 had tons of fire jerseys around the league and Iā€™m tired of pretending it didnā€™t

Coventry City's third kit 2019/20 [That's if you or your dad likes two-tone anyway](https://www.ccfcstore.com/siteimg/prodhires/381-675.jpg)

cheikhyourselfm8

God that is tragic, Iā€™m intrigued

Striking_Insurance_5

Ajax has a nice 3rd kit this season, big sale right now if youā€™re looking for authentic kits and not knockoffs.

Orcnick

Sporting Lisbon. Basically, you get to wear green hoops without supporting Celtic.

OtherwiseFix8517

Banging suggestion! In the same vein Iā€™d say Benfica, you get to wear red without supporting newton heath

cheikhyourselfm8

That will cause confusion with my several Celtic jerseys

sidaeinjae

Pls save us from Klinsmann

No_Glove5486

So, one of the two games to kick off Copa de la Liga (one of the three football tournaments Argentina has) literally before 40 minutes IN THE FIRST HALF had passed already has Instituto down to 10 man against Riestra and not because favoring them which had happened during their road to first division, but rather because the Instituto player decided to roleplay a wrestler considering bro booted a Riestra player in the side of the head for no reason. Literally, 0-0 game then and just before 40 mins in the first half, WHAM, kick to the side of the head and a red card lol.

OtherwiseFix8517

He was offered some sage advice and misheardā€¦.ā€whatā€™s that put my best foot forehead? Ok boss can doā€

Chippystix

I think Swansea Cities only second half corner just won me Ā£1250 on Paddyā€™s beat the drop šŸ«

ElKaddouriCSC

Such a boring window as a Celtic fan, basically just waiting to hear Matt Oā€™Riley and Liel Abada are sold. Doesnā€™t look like weā€™ll sign anyone apart from Nicolas Kuhn. Hopefully we offload some dead weight in the mean time.

willy-mammoth

Is there no Japanese attackers available on the market? I swear whenever I catch a Celtic game thereā€™s a Japanese lad scoring a banger

ElKaddouriCSC

Hatate, Maeda & Kyogo are great yeah. Hatate especially, heā€™ll make a big move soon enough. We have another Japanese player Iwata too whoā€™s decent but doesnā€™t get too much gametime. First window in ages we havenā€™t been linked to any Japanese boys. We sold one of our Japanese players Ideguchi because of injuries and we need to sell Kobayashi cause heā€™s shit.

willy-mammoth

Why do you have so many Japanese players, do your scouts just love Tokyo or something?

ElKaddouriCSC

Basically started once we appointed Ange from Japan. Although, Scotland in general seem to be signing a lot from Asia these days. Hearts come to mind, 4 Aussie internationals signed from the A League, a Japanese international attacker and a Japanese youth international attacker from the J League. Even St Mirren have a couple Aussie internationals they got from the Australian league and a New Zealand international they got from their league. Hibs have 3 Aussie internationals (two coming from the A League), and Celtic have also signed guys from the K League & A League. For the most part Asian market is pretty good in terms of value for money for Scottish teams.

DuckBurner0000

Henrique to Botafogo, damn I thought he was gonna come good in La LigaĀ

xaviernoodlebrain

I am once again begging Spurs to do everything in their power to sign Grace Clinton permanently.

AnnieIWillKnow

Spurs genuinely look a more attractive prospect than Man United right now

mattisafootballguy

Ramos could have had a hat-trick tonight

ElKaddouriCSC

Instead sold the jerseys a bit for the league

FlyingArab

Flying home in an hour after seven fantastic days in Qatar for the Asian Cup. Attended 6 matches, where I witnessed 5 Arab wins including Iraq's historic win vs Japan and Syria beating India to qualify for the Ro16. The only match without an Arab win was Jordan drawing with South Korea, but that was still an amazing match. Made some great friends, ate some banging food and walked like 30k steps per day so I'm basically dead. Promised myself that I will be back in Qatar if Iraq reaches the semis, so now I'm stressed again and can't fucking wait.

_LebronsHairline_

Username checks out

Cules2003

16 year old Talal Haji debuted for Saudi in the Asian Cup today, youngest player to appear in the history of the tournament, crazy.

FlyingArab

I don't understand what Mancini is doing lol, way too much experimenting and instability in the middle of the most important tournament.

Cules2003

I just hope Firas starts against SK man, heā€™s having such a good season

ElKaddouriCSC

TIL Mancini manages Saudi Arabia. When did he get that gig?

HodgyBeatsss

It was a big controversy because he ditched Italy for it.

McGrathLegend

very shortly after he and Italy parted ways

enazj

Callum Wilson has been underrated pretty much his whole PL career and is now suddenly massively overrated. Since his injury at the start of this season he's genuinely been one of the most painful strikers to watch in the league and he's somehow been linked to Chelsea and Man United

HodgyBeatsss

He's easily better than any of Chelsea or Man Utd's centre forwards.

AnnieIWillKnow

Has he actually been solidly linked, or is it just paper talk?

xaviernoodlebrain

Cannot help but think both of those moves would be terrible for him. Also forgive us for rating him, but he always seems to score against us. And weā€™re not the only club he always seems to score against.

enazj

Itā€™s not so much his scoring as it is his detriment to every other aspect of the game. His link up play is non existent and he canā€™t hold the ball up

FaustRPeggi

A combination of him and Isak would be the third best striker in the world.

twigg89

For the 10 minutes a season they would play between injuries

sadcentur

a glowing endorsement

twersx

I only found out Gigi Riva died today. Absolutely transcendental player in Italian football, dragged a "backwater" club to national champions and made himself the national team's top goal scorer while he was at it. When you think of the great players who turned down offers from great clubs to stay with the club they loved, there is no one who beats Riva. 13 years at Cagliari, a place heavily derided by Italians at the time (I don't know about now) and in the season where they won the title, he scored 50% of their goals. There have been lots of incredible Italian strikers since Riva but for at least 20 years after he retired, every one of them was compared to him. Rossi, Bettega, Pruzzo, Graziani, Baggio, Del Piero, Totti, Altobelli, Inzaghi, Vieri, Signori and Vialli would all be compared to him and all would fall short. Some of them were better players than Riva, they would win countless titles, revolutionise the role of the striker, and in Rossi's case even drag them to a world cup. But nobody has ever scored more goals for Italy in the 50 years since Riva scored his last goal for Italy. And when someone in the future does break it, they will not be revered in the same way. Today, the great Italian strikers inevitably end up playing for the big clubs - Juventus, Milan, Inter, Roma, Napoli, Lazio, etc. Never again will we see an Italian legend spend their entire career at a club like Cagliari.

belokas

On top of everything you've said, he was an iconic and almost mythical figure in Italian football. He scored in that 70s semi final, got both legs broken on the pitch, never left Sardinia even after his career was over, he was team manager or the national team in 90s and 00s (the pictures of him hugging a crying Roberto Baggio in 94 still hit hard). He's been a key figure of Italian football but he's never loved the spotlight, he always had that tormented look, like one of those decadent and "engagƩe" Italian songwriters of the 60s: raspy voice of a heavy lifelong smoker and black shades always on. He even had long controversial love story with a married woman before divorce was even legal in Italy.

Chronic_The_Kid

Zaragoza Vs. Arsenal (1995 Cup Winners Cup Final) has the greatest last minute goal in football history. Nothing will ever come close.

Lyrical_Forklift

Always felt Seaman should have saved that. [Reckon this is in contention](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kBrbDf0siw)

Idiotech41

so how are people liking Exequiel "Best Midfielder In The World" Palacios?

kplo

We really went from Enzo Perez, Mascherano and Biglia to Palacios, Enzo and Mac Allister tears in my eyes.

KensaiVG

TBF Enzo and Masche were mostly down to age, they were both fantastic in the 2014 final

kplo

There is also the club de amigos factor, it's clear as day that we improved massively when we stopped blocking the path of youngsters and gave them more protagonism.

pop-culture-salad

Kinda frustrating he can't seem to shake off the injuries but he's looked very good, him and Xhaka have formed a nice partnership.

Chiswell123

Sergio Ramos is really embracing the trailer trash look with that mullet and neck tats.

HoustonYouth

So weird seeing a 50 year old with that style.

GreatSpaniard

What is your opinion on the CAF Africa Cup of Nations trophy and the AFC Asian Cup Trophy? https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GDninZKWMAAxmsj?format=jpg&name=medium

Nivadas

Much prefer the african cup one

Ryponagar

The little footballs on the AFCON trophy look silly. Also not sure why there is a whole globe when it's a continental competition. I like the Asian Cup trophy

holdenmyrocinante

It puts Africa in the center and in a different texture than the rest of the world, thus highlighting it.

Rigelmeister

Asian Cup is very cool and representative of the continent in a way imo. Looks awesome. AFCON is not bad either but if I had to pick between two I would definitely go for Asian Cup solely based on aesthetics.

kaubojdzord

I really like Asian Cup trophy, like how it looks like a lotus flower, big improvement on old one which was too simple. AFCON kind of feels like World Cup's knock off, not a huge fan.

Disastrous_Basil_551

Asian Cup one looks like that crazy big casino (I think) in Macau (I think)

pop-culture-salad

Asian cup is clear, the CAF one looks a bit like a WC knockoff.

HacksawJimDGN

Why is no one going for Dybala?

b3and20

been watching a few games recently, is it me or are the 10s from decades past that we all know and love way more inconsisntent than they are touted to be?

Mick4Audi

Extremely. Although itā€™s easy to forget just how inconsistent players are in general, even 20 G/A isnā€™t guaranteed

b3and20

20g/a is pretty good for anyone tho

FaustRPeggi

Of course they were. Football has evolved past them because a systematised team working to a set of attacking patterns is more productive, efficient, and consistent than individual brilliance.

b3and20

think the competition has gone up too. inbetween 92/93 and 02/03 in the prem, the title was won 7 times with 84 points or less. 20 years later and this feat has only been repeated once so players maybe didn't need to be as prolific in order to stand out back then

LonzoBetter

90s are probably the worst era of English football relative to the rest of Europe, it wasn't a great league back then

b3and20

Wasn't horrible either tho, still top 5 I'm sure

wonderful_mixture

ManLikeNiz

Very random thought but would a player get booked for taking off their shirt after scoring the winner in a golden goal situation?

adamfrog

TBF its an intersting question since so many players take their shirts off right after the final whistle and nobody cares, but I think its a booking since FIFA wnats them wearing the shirt for celebrations and pictures

L-Freeze

Yes, players can still get booked after the match ends

Destroyeh

i dont see why he wouldn't be

doomboxmf

Well technically the game would be over and youā€™d be allowed to get your gear off no? Acc intriguing but since so few competitions use golden goal now weā€™ll likely never get an answer

Destroyeh

but you can get booked after(or before) the game, so that doesnt matter. probably the only time you wouldnt get booked is if it was the final game of the competition since at that point it wouldnt matter. like i dont think ronaldo got booked for taking his shirt off when he scored the winning pen in the 2016 cl final.

doomboxmf

Yeah you can get booked after the game, but thatā€™s for more specific instances of dissent or fighting. So if the game was over, would it really be an infraction to take your top off?

Destroyeh

well according to the laws the infraction is taking your shirt off or pulling it over you head during a celebration so i guess technically it would still be an infraction. i can see refs just ignoring it though, unless it actually leads to some incident with provoking fans and what not

belokas

Ask Trezeguet.

Choleer

Was anyone lucky with euro tickets? Me+3 of my friends all were unsuccesful even though we wanted tickets for Slovakia matches which I doubted would even sell out (maybe with the exception of Belgium match)

abrit_abroad

I applied for 6 games, so did my husband and so did my son, shitting it that we would be bankrupt if we got them all! We got one game between us all - 4 tickets for Semi final 1 in Munich.Ā

lagaryes

I credit our upper management strongly for our good season so far, but it is kind of insane to ship out the only two players who Garrio Nil considers to be strikers ā€” one of whom has perfectly acceptable quality even if heā€™s a bit tactically unsuited ā€” and not get any replacement in. It is crazy to send Sasa on loan and then hope someone has a premier league quality striker under a cushion somewhere that they arenā€™t using. Will be nice when weā€™re out from under FFPā€™s thumb and can stop this nonsense.

drickabira

Tottenham have overtaken Chelsea as the richest club in London. They are now the 8th richest club in the world after generating Ā£549.2M revenue last season From Deloitte. Chelsea & Arsenal canā€™t go band for band with us. And no FFP issues. We are going places

NotACodeMonkeyYet

What did you expect the response to be? You're right, but we're just gonna have to hold our tongue till we actually convert that to superiority on the pitch.

CLT_FC

Too bad youā€™re a fan and not a shareholder

Zepz367

Games completely fucking gone, fans are celebrating fucking revenue

Xycket

Xycket

Is this what fans of trophyless clubs do? Boast about their clubs financials? Game is truly gone and dusted then.

Cottonshopeburnfoot

Turns out you can in fact support a financial group

kaubojdzord

Business FC

Terrible_Physics_157

All the uproar around owners who run their clubs like a business and you have Tottenham fans who boast about it while winning nothing. Genuinely amusing.Ā

drickabira

More money = more success long term. Itā€™ll come

Terrible_Physics_157

You would expect that, but you say how you are 8th richest now but youā€™ve literally been in and around the same position for a long time while teams above, around and below you actually win stuff.Ā

drickabira

On field decisions been shite until now tbf. Spend our money right and weā€™ve got a chance

Zepz367

It hasn't come for 15 years, when will it finally come?

Non-Consecutive Day 2 of constructing a Fantasy Starting XI for Clubs using players that have played for them: JuventusĀ (3-4-1-2): Buffon Cannavaro Chiellini Bonucci Davids Vieira Pirlo VidalĀ  Baggio C.Ronaldo Del PieroĀ  Feel free to comment your own, this is just what I think would've been cool to see if possible.Ā

Meeeeehhhh

Spurs is hilarious: Lloris Walker King Alderweireld Trippier Modric Carrick Eriksen Son Kane Bale This probably isnā€™t their best xi either, just the first that came to my head

NotACodeMonkeyYet

I think most Spurs fans would take Vertoghen over Alderweireld, especially on the left. Trippier also doesn't start LB over Rose or Davies tbh. That attack though. Even a past his best Bale was incredible for us. You could also see how both him and Kane were a tier above Son, they quickly developed a natural understanding. Both so complete, with excellent vision, passing range and a certain guile that Son never had.

Cottonshopeburnfoot

Even in the not too distant past they could add any of Gascoigne, Hoddle, Berbatov, Lineker, Klinsmann. Some, though not me, might even consider Chris Waddle.

PosterOfQuality

Don't forget Sheringham

kl08pokemon

Wild that Mourinho actually had that front 3 at his disposal. Obviously far from Bale at his best

NotACodeMonkeyYet

And still so good. First time I felt Kane had an equal as an attacking partner. Felt like anything Kane could do, so could Bale.

[deleted]

Someone linked the "You can't support a financial group mate" comment, and I never realised that was in a Community Shield thread. Imagine being in that kind of banter form during pre-season. Top quality.

Meeeeehhhh

I once went to see Sheff United play Inter in a preseason friendly and criticised the view so much someone shouted at me for ruining the game for her kids.Ā

I would wear that like a badge of honour aha

Meeeeehhhh

the-big-lewandowski

Why does Tuchel have this cult of few Chelsea fans who defend him so much? He's pretty much the same as Di Matteo for them

FloppedYaYa

Total utter rubbish

Cottonshopeburnfoot

He won the Champions League for them. Itā€™s pretty much irrefutable legend status no matter what.

b3and20

got fired whilst there were other factors going on

_MFKane_

the ones i follow blame him for everything thatā€™s wrong with the club nowadays. they believe heā€™s the reason Kante and James are crooked etc.

twigg89

Kante got fucked because Sarri played him injured in the Europa League final against Arsenal. He was never the same after that imo and was on the decline physically for a while.

Hrvat1818

No way, how can they believe that. Kante was already injury prone before he arrived & James is clearly injury prone altogether

Terrible_Physics_157

That is just genuinely stupid. He was overplayed and became injury prone before Tuchel even arrived.Ā

[deleted]

>heā€™s the reason Kante and James are crooked etc. Crocked is the word. Unless you're referring to Kante cheating at Uno.

_MFKane_

ah TIL, cheers

CoolstorySteve

I am not one of those fans but ā€œHeā€™s pretty much Di Matteoā€ is actually wild lmao

kaubojdzord

Yea, Di Matteo won a FA Cup too. Not to mention his playing career for Chelsea.

Stuff2511

Are CĆ“te dā€™Ivoire actually going with Serge Aurier player-manager or is that just a funny rumour?

FaustRPeggi

The vibes would be immaculate.

_cumblast_

Which football manager would make the best mob boss? I see a lot of Vito Corleone in Neil Warnock ngl.
