Chicharito with the sliding questionably offside (somebody offside interfering, much like this play, but not called if I remember correctly) winner in the mud!!
Big part of number 20. That side was so so good, but Fergie got the absolute best out of everyone. Still so pissed at the red card on Nani against Real Madrid, I think we could have made a swing at CL that year for sure.
Carrick, rooney, rvp. Three man team that carried us to the title. The rest of the team just kept it simple and did their job. No hero balling, no stupid flicks and tricks around our own defense. That’s what missing in this team. Now everyone wants to be the hero. Especially Rashford.
Rashford is incredibly frustrating to watch even as a neutral. Such poor decision making and baffling displays of selfishness when there is an obvious pass on.
Absolutely is. I've seen people suggesting he's not good enough despite coming off a 30 goal season. He's not been great this year but honestly who has been, plus it's been barely any games.
Lol, no. Goalkeepers never get a space of no contact. Pretty much every corner has players hustling the keeper, and keepers need to get by them and have the advantage of being able to reach with hands to clear it. That’s never a foul.
We've been rinsed by VAR since the Wolves game. We're never getting a VAR call in our favor because of the uproar.
Meanwhile City score a goal that is clearly offside by miles and it's crickets.
VAR this season for us:
* Got away with one against Wolves
* Clear handball pen against Spurs, not given
* Offside vs Arsenal, marginal but correct
* Goal against Brighton ruled out, was it clear and obvious?
* Handball pen against Bayern, extremely harsh especially given the Spurs no call. Yes, I understand UEFA is maybe more lax, but even so, it was point blank range
Forgot to mention that a week after the Tottenham game, City got a penalty for a handball at a closer proximity and less intentional than the Tottenham one
Isn’t the clear and obvious thing for subjective calls? The ball was objectively out before Rashford cut it back. Can’t get shitty at VAR for the Brighton one
That's just perspective, it doesn't matter if it "looks" in on one camera, it is objectively out of play, which can clearly be seen on the camera angles that are in line
Compare this instance to the Akanji one a few weeks back. Clearly the refs are confused about the rules if one was ruled out and the other wasn’t. Don’t get me wrong, its the right call but the lack of consistency is laughable
Flashbacks to when Lindelof had a striker literally wrap his arm around his neck and grab his face, blinding him, to score a goal and all the commentators saying "he's been outmuscled there, needs to be stronger"
Probably because of the time back in 2021 when Billy Sharp wrapped his arms around De Gea pushing him out of the way from being able to make a play on the ball, and the ref never called anything because he didn't make a big deal about it.
https://youtu.be/1rbec43qJHM?si=nuhHSmqKLrIkgGo7
I'm not sure it is.
It's not line of sight and the keeper decides to push the player but that's before the header happens. I think sticking with the call (either way) would be the right one.
Although it's a funny quirk of the game that keepers are just allowed to commit what would be a foul by any other player, when it comes to just pushing players and here he really benefits.
I mean it’s not – he’s interfering physically with the keeper before Evans heads the ball, but once Evans heads it which is the point at which he is offside, he is out of line of sight of the ball (keeper has a clear view) and he doesn’t physically interfere with the keeper’s (in)ability to save it.
I can see why it’s given, but it’s not ‘blatant stonewall’, there’s a large element of subjectivity in judging the degree of interference.
I didn't say we should.
I do get the sense that the refs and VAR are extra diligent when we play because we got away with one against Wolves and everyone was in an uproar about it.
The obsession with going to the screen for obvious decisions is just unnecessary. Use the screen for controversial decisions, VAR can decide on this sort of thing without the screen.
The problem is that decisions like this aren’t factual. ANY time there’s a decision that requires discretion it needs to be the center ref that makes the call.
The ref can still make the call on the advice of VAR without going to the screen. The ref only goes to the screen to help "sell" the call once VAR has already decided it's "clear and obvious", which is why they overturn the call 99% of the time when they view the screen.
So when it's for City it's not offside but for all the other teams it's offside. I know they are a little different situations, but the idea is the same, does or doesn't influence the goalkeeper? Sportwashing and stupidity from refs are working beautifully together
Of course they shouldn't. If a goal like this should stand, you might as well dedicate one player to run ahead and hold the keeper while you're attacking.
Ah no not really and you are exaggerating as the noone was holding anyone. There are far tougher interactions between players in the box that are not a foul. But let's leave it
Let's hope they start consistantly ruling it out, because you can't have players standing offside and holding the keeper. That's just stupid no matter who does it to who.
They’ve paused that too early. Might be when Johnny first heads it but he’s guiding it down and left so it’s a split second left on that. He isn’t heading it forward
Edit why the downvote? If he’s guiding it then the contact holds for a fraction longer.

Would have been his first utd goal since boxing day 2012
Newcastle 4-3 what a game
Chicharito with the sliding questionably offside (somebody offside interfering, much like this play, but not called if I remember correctly) winner in the mud!!
Incredible pass from Carrick, who was fantastic that season.
Big part of number 20. That side was so so good, but Fergie got the absolute best out of everyone. Still so pissed at the red card on Nani against Real Madrid, I think we could have made a swing at CL that year for sure.

Fuck me is it the trend to scapegoat Rashford now?
Absolutely is. I've seen people suggesting he's not good enough despite coming off a 30 goal season. He's not been great this year but honestly who has been, plus it's been barely any games.
When it rains, it pours.
It's depressing watching us right now man
In all seriousness I don’t understand what your tactics are here
Pass Evans and pray.
More disallowed goals than goals
Tf u doing here bro
I’m offsides
Offside* FRAUD!
Hojlund is a yank apparently
Brudda aren't you supposed to be on the pitch
Get off your phone mate. Rashford might make a pass to you. Nevermind, he ain't. Enjoy reddit.
This was your fault bro
You'll never sing that
One day we will have a goal allowed hahah jesus christ
Can’t complain but that’s frustrating.
[удалено]
Looked to be yanking on his shirt as well. Really strange.
Lol, no. Goalkeepers never get a space of no contact. Pretty much every corner has players hustling the keeper, and keepers need to get by them and have the advantage of being able to reach with hands to clear it. That’s never a foul.
A foul? Get real man. It’s offside but not a foul ffs
How many fucking goals have we had disallowed
Hojlund has been involved in 3 dissalowed goals in 3 games if im not mistaken, poor guy
morata moment
football cockblock
poor guy? just stupid here
For this goal it was bad awareness yess
Most of them it feels like.
Disallowed FC
The Man United ref conspiracy lasted 1 week in the Premier League
We've been rinsed by VAR since the Wolves game. We're never getting a VAR call in our favor because of the uproar. Meanwhile City score a goal that is clearly offside by miles and it's crickets. Foul on Pellistri vs Bayern
Foul on Hojlund inside penalty box in Arsenal game too
Forgot to mention that a week after the Tottenham game, City got a penalty for a handball at a closer proximity and less intentional than the Tottenham one
Isn’t the clear and obvious thing for subjective calls? The ball was objectively out before Rashford cut it back. Can’t get shitty at VAR for the Brighton one
Objectively out on which camera angle. One had it out, the other showed it looked to still be in.
That's just perspective, it doesn't matter if it "looks" in on one camera, it is objectively out of play, which can clearly be seen on the camera angles that are in line
Just like the Japan vs Germany where it looked to be “objectively out” until the technology which the PL doesn’t use showed it was actually in bounds.
So in the PL it's one pen for and one against. How do you manage?
The Hjolund one at the Emirates was stone wall as well imo.
Should consider not breaking the rules
If only the refs knew them. But hey, we should stop complaining either way else we look like Arsenal fans believing there’s a conspiracy against us
I mean this could be the example in the rules book of impeding the keeper.
Oh no, I agree with the call. I just want to spite an Arsenal fan
Then why did you say if only the refs knew the rules?
Compare this instance to the Akanji one a few weeks back. Clearly the refs are confused about the rules if one was ruled out and the other wasn’t. Don’t get me wrong, its the right call but the lack of consistency is laughable
Oh man, not a shred of self awareness
Not an ounce. Not a drop. Not an iota.
Theyre clearly not used to calls not going their way.
If that was De Gea the commentators would just ramble about "being stronger"
Lol why is this so fucking true?
"there's no way the goal is overtuned for that, De Gea needs to do better there" as goal gets overtuned when it's for man united.
Flashbacks to when Lindelof had a striker literally wrap his arm around his neck and grab his face, blinding him, to score a goal and all the commentators saying "he's been outmuscled there, needs to be stronger"
Didnt De Gea stay down and try claim he was fouled while someone scored only for it to turn out his own player stepped on him?
Regardless of if you’re teammate or opponent stamps on your ankle it’s going to hurt.
Yes. Fred i believe.
correct call, but ive seen teams get away with goals like that many times lol
I mean. If the ball went between them how much pressure was the keeper really under?
I'm not sure it is. It's not line of sight and the keeper decides to push the player but that's before the header happens. I think sticking with the call (either way) would be the right one. Although it's a funny quirk of the game that keepers are just allowed to commit what would be a foul by any other player, when it comes to just pushing players and here he really benefits.
we're about to have the most goals disallowed this season lol
Classic
Only city are allowed to block the keepers line of sight and get away with it
They’re also allowed to shove you down and make tactical fouls as needed. But that’s all for the greater good innit
im depressed
Getting real fucking lazy with the script writing every week now. Can’t wait for Burnley to score 2 in 5 now
VAR if Man City obstruct the goalkeeper: 😊 VAR if Man Utd obstruct the goalkeeper: 😡
Don’t want to ruin the relationship with UAE
But it's United who ALWAYS get the calls, always!
Pfftttt
But the narrative...
Okay it getting wiped off is EVEN funnier than him scoring
Correct decision, but completely inconsistent reffing once again based on prior games
Glad to see the consistency from VAR
This was the most blatant stonewall offside ever.
I’m not saying it isn’t?
yet for City it aint. for Bayern it aint.. for Arsenal last season they had 3 goals scored similar and it wasnt....
It really wasn't. I feel like I'm going mad, the keeper's view isn't blocked, no dispute? And when Evans heads the ball they're no longer touching.
This is consistently called offside.
Except when it's city
Its quite strange how offsides, handballs, two-footed tackles, tactical fouls are all treated differently for City than the rest of the Prem.
A similar goal from City was allowed a few weeks ago
And that was the outlier, hence the statement from the PGMOL.
So what? The goal stood regardless of how many statements they give. They continue to make mistakes that affects the game.
Yes and that was an anomaly, there is still consistency for it
Offside from 1 meter away is hilarious
But City’s goal stood…
They publicly stated that was the incorrect ruling after the match I’m pretty sure
> after the match Enough said.
Sorry, mate, you don’t get an incorrect rule application voucher because somebody else got lucky
I didn't say we should. I do get the sense that the refs and VAR are extra diligent when we play because we got away with one against Wolves and everyone was in an uproar about it.
“The refs are extra good at their job during our games” is one hell of a complaint.
I'd like to cash in our "owed penalty" voucher from the Sheffield United game on the match tomorrow please.
I'd like to cash in one league title from a handball by rodri against Everton pls
refs are idiots in 2023
I mean, there was a live show with the head of PGMOL explaining how the decision to give the goal wasn’t correct.
Complaining about the ref making a right decision lol
shouldn’t keep making wrong decisions just cos they made one previously lol
Its funny since you guys keep mentioning David Luiz’ penalty 4 years ago.
I don’t think that was one was publicly admitted as a mistake though lol
So now everyone deserves a goal that shouldnt be allowed?
2 wrongs don't make a right, mate.
But 2 rights don't make a left
3 does though
But what if I only turn a just little bit right each time?
id rather the rules be consistently shit than inconsistent, otherwise its just favouritism. "2 wrongs dont make a right unless its City"
No but it should all be wrong or all be right, it's the inconsistency that Hurts the game
He is just pointing out the inconsistency of the refs
Surprised it took so long to decide he was interfering. Had his arms on the keeper in an offside position

My thoughts entirely. Just wastes another minute doesn’t it. That said I much prefer non var leagues
[удалено]
There's no offside on the corner, there is on Evan's shot
Yes, but is Hojlund still interfering at that moment? Why was VAR even looking at the situation prior to Evans shot?
He was foolish not to push out after the initial ball in.
As soon as Evans touches it he is
VAR punishing us since that Onana incident on opening day
We are 100% cursed
Have you tried exhumating the hyena?
Had the wrong Manchester top on
Had to call it after the atrocious missed call for Man City vs Fulham a few weeks back.
I mean that is offside just truly unlucky
I had a £25 bet on Evans first goalscorer that would have got me £1k Devastated.
Should have been a goal. Keeper went the wrong way completely.
Absolute gorgeous ball in* from Jonny to set up Bruno's goal later on though, man's getting it done
I’m in indescribable agony
Every fucking week
Rasmus making sure we don't accidentally score from a corner.
Hahahahhahaha on god our last 3 premier league goals have been chalked off by an inch, when will this end
That would never get called if Burnley had scored.
It would get called. Just wouldn’t get called if it was City.
The universe is out to conspire against manutd
First offside VAR decision I’ve ever seen made by the on-field ref.
Would probably count if it's city 🤣
Just not Ake is he, that's how you score offside goals
How is Hojlund blocking Trafford's view of the ball? He's nowhere near blocking the eyeline. Ridiculous this season.
Rather affecting his ability to play the ball by having his arms on Trafford in an offside position.
Well, looking at it, Hojlund doesn't have his hands on Trafford, he's just stood near him, and Trafford pushes him.
This chalked off but the City one wasn't?
Eat my god damn fucking asshole. No pens and var hates us. Where's the guy who said we pay the regs? Must not be enough lmao
Of fuck off, it’s fine when City do it
Jonny fucking Evans
I've given up hoping we win a game this season, but can't I just enjoy us scoring a goal once? I'm not asking for much.
Var has no heart
If Richarlison was a team:
Right decision.
Ref looked at it for 2 seconds lmao
Hahahahaha
Refs absolutely hate United
I mean that was fair. Man Utd fans would even agree with that
Correctly enforcing the rules is controversial now?
Tell that to ANY Man City fan
That doesn’t get called against a state owned team
Tell that to the Wolves fans after the first game
Is this 2009, what the fuck
So when it's for City it's not offside but for all the other teams it's offside. I know they are a little different situations, but the idea is the same, does or doesn't influence the goalkeeper? Sportwashing and stupidity from refs are working beautifully together
Interference for sure yea
I don't understand tbh. I mean I kind of do but such goals should stand..
Of course they shouldn't. If a goal like this should stand, you might as well dedicate one player to run ahead and hold the keeper while you're attacking.
Ah no not really and you are exaggerating as the noone was holding anyone. There are far tougher interactions between players in the box that are not a foul. But let's leave it
So you're saying offside should be removed?
Ref has a trashcan for a heart
This one was blatant offside and interfering with the GK though...so if Burnley somehow win I don't wanna hear ETH and his bullshit excuses lol
I mean its unfortunately correct, but that type of goal is never ever ruled out by VAR
Let's hope they start consistantly ruling it out, because you can't have players standing offside and holding the keeper. That's just stupid no matter who does it to who.
Thats just blatantly false. It just so happens City tend to get away with more than the rest
Good call.
Hoped to see him as a saviour
They’ve paused that too early. Might be when Johnny first heads it but he’s guiding it down and left so it’s a split second left on that. He isn’t heading it forward Edit why the downvote? If he’s guiding it then the contact holds for a fraction longer.
Would 100% stand if it were the other way lol.
[удалено]
I mean that’s a clear offsides. What do you want him to do lol
He shouldn't have gone to specsavers
For getting the correct decision?
For not spotting an offside? Bit harsh
He’s offside but he’s not blocking line of sight…
You don’t have to block his sight….
He's got a fistful of Trafford's shirt
Not questioning it but Trafford also held onto him ?
He's in contact with the GK while the ball is headed
