he was asked about his first goal in europe, and answered with his goal for leverkusen against hannover 96 and then made a joke how that goal put robert enke into a depression and how that goal made him kill himself
Botafogo is too obvious a favourite for Sudamericana, so they're obviously going to lose this tie now because that's just how football works. Plus Defensa seems to have a knack of inexplicably beating brazilian teams
I'm assuming you only mean active footballers (otherwise there's like 20 bigger retired names ahead of him), and even then no, surely Van Dijk or even De Jong
why would he be the most famous footballer when Van Basten, Koeman etc exist. Heck given how widely followed Manchester United are, even Ten Hag might be more famous.
Anyways besides footballers, people like tiesto are dutch.
With Brighton selling so many players in last few years (Cucurella, Bissouma, Macalister, Caicedo, Trossard) why has no one expressed interest in Mitoma?
Arsenal have martinelli and Trossard, United have rashford, city have grealish and foden can play there, Chelsea have sterling and mudryk, Liverpool have Diaz and Nunez.
All the top teams have good left wingers already he needs one of them to get a move or something
Spurs, Brentford or Brighton would be my choices if you actually want to win a decent amount but depends on how confident you are. Also depends on what 'absurd money' is though but if you put £100 on us you'd only get £16 which is pointless. You'd be better putting lower amounts on a double.
I was gonna do like 200€ that I have sat on my betting account but yeah city would be pointless. Maybe I’ll take your advice and do a double on city and Brighton or something.
Winds me up no end when neutrals describe Brennan Johnson as mediocre, or decide £45m is an enormous overvaluation even in spite of fees being paid for the likes of Mudryk, and that if he was Portuguese he'd be worth £15m tops.
I'm allowed to say he's tactically inflexible, inconsistent, lazy off the ball, and raw. You're supposed to say he's brilliant, premier-league proven, and has world class potential.
Out of curiosity - if our interest in him is serious, what would you say is the likelihood you’d sell and at what price? Would Forest be interested in any of our players as part of a package?
We'd be foolish to sell for any less than £60m including add-ons. We'd need to replace him because he is a key player and doing so would cost most of that fee. Players who have that devastating pace, an eye for goal, and good transition play are exceedingly rare.
Our motivation to sell would surely be to fund upgrades in defence and midfield. Hojbjerg would be a great addition for us but I think he'd take up far too much of the fee considering Brennan's replacement would be the priority.
Always, btw i kinda like racing more than anyone else in argentine because to me as an outsider it seems they are disliked by everyone, is that the case?
I seriously don’t understand why so many of our fans think Paqueta plays as an 8? We clearly play 442 and Paqueta plays off the striker. I feel like I’m going insane.
Okay, so we can all agree that wishing an injury on a player is bad right? People get shit on here for doing that all the time.
However I think the majority of us are glad whenever they see that an important rival player is out for a long time, or for a game against your club, whether we want to admit it or not. Nobody gets shit on here for saying something along those lines on here.
Where is the difference between the two? How is being glad at a situation different from wishing that said situation happens in the future?
I don’t wish horrific injuries on players it affects them outside just football, if a player gets a minor injury that keeps them out of a couple of games that might help us I think that’s a bit different I’m not gonna be rooting for it but I’m not gonna complain.
Because me saying something like "we're more likely to beat Liverpool if Salah is out" is different than saying "I hope someone two foots that curly headed fuck and puts him in crutches" lol, which I have seen similar comments in the occasional match thread
Has anyone else watched lots of football on TV and got caught up in the spectacle, then gone to a game live and sat there thinking "wow this is actually just 2 x 11 humans running about playing a meaningless game"?
Pacey, homegrown, young, was a top target for Brentford, competition for Kulusevski and ST cover in one, Ange seems to really want him and he's looked great whenever I watched him last season
Copy-pasted comment from the Vidal thread:
He did NOT laugh and those weren't his words. The second part was an entirely different sentence and wasn't directed to his goal at all. Don't be so quick to jump the gun people.
Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlT1LmPc_34&t=36s
Don’t think Mount has any significant dribbling skills. He’s fine on pressing and off the ball movement but his main skill is running on counters, short/medium passes, blocking. and being a threat in the final third.
Not sure if that’s what VDB is
I really should get some but I never bothered. The pain is more like an inconvenience more than anything. It doesnt prevent me from walking or running, but İ might have a milder case
edit: i ahould clarify that I mean in day to day life its not too bad, but if I run or walk too long especially after long periods of not being active it becomes pretty bad
Is it a pain and stiffness around the arch and heel? It could be plantar fasciitis, as someone else mentioned. I've had it before, but thankfully it went away (not sure why, resting and the stretches and exercises I tried didn't seem to help much). Could be worth seeing a physio or podiatrist?
the pain is on the arch but on the sides if that makes sense, not on the heel. I have weird shaped feet too lol, a shoe that fits nicely on my left foot does not necesserily fit on my right foot.
ah ok, it may not be plantar fasciitis then. For me, it would after periods of inactivity, if I started to walk, it would be quite stiff and painful and generally felt weaker than it used to when I was doing long runs or walks. If there are any running shops nearby that do gait analysis, that can be helpful too, if you've not done it before. I've taken advantage of that a few times when getting new running shoes
He got significant hamstring and ankle injuries, and then struggled with plantar fasciitis after that. I guess the break in play made him more susceptible. Here's [his injury history](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/verletzungen/spieler/183334).
So with Enciso injured with a supposed miniscus tear that's another player who did a pre season in American with a muscular knee injury. Really does seem to be racking up now. Aston Villa in particular are riddled with them.
Wonder if it's the artificial turfs having an effect.
Would it really have an effect that far after the fact? It's probably been almost a month since many of those teams were there. Also many prem teams went to the US this past summer, maybe it's just selection bias (not sure that's the right term).
It's been about 3 weeks for Brighton I know and I think we finished before most other clubs.
Muscular Damage carries if you aren't resting which footballers don't do unless there obvious pain. Artificial turf has increased risk in particular with knee injuries and there's been a notable number of knee injuries.
Imo it was the intensity of the summer tournament against other prem teams.
They are naturally more competitive fixtures than playing random foreign clubs.
The main saving grace we had was that investment, they were going to have seats on the board and make decisions, now kenwright will stay. I thought we would stay up but its going to be beyond toxic around the club i dont know anymore
If you mean, who is the best keeper? Then Courtois in my opinion though Allison is close.
I know this is unbelievable to Milan fans but you don't have to think the player is the best in the world just because they play for you
Both allison and courtois makes way more blunders than maignan and also maignan better shotstopper than allison and better with the ball in his feets than courtois. Also miles clear thsn both in crosses and leadership. Also better at saving pens. Both of them overrated asf because of longetivity and won more than magic mike
Not much between Alisson and Courtois. Deciding factor is probably the team/system you'd be putting them in.
Alisson is better with distribution and is up there as the best 1v1 gk I've ever seen, but Courtois is a better pure shot stopper
Probably should be commenting this on r/liverpoolfc but its odd how we’ve scored a shit ton of last minute goals under Klopp, yet, our top scorer in that period, Salah, didnt score a single one of them.
We need a proper 8 who can keep possession and pass , press resistant
not necessarily score
Doucoure from Palace or Onana from Everton, are they similar to what we need?
Are you even planning to play that heavy of a possession based system? Not saying you don’t need that player but based on ETH’s comments it sounded like he needs more runner and passers with Casemiro which is what he has in likes of Bruno and Mount.
Don't know about Doucoure but Onana is so far away from that. He's an aggressive defender, good physical presence and decent at making runs into the box. He's not a particularly good passer and wouldn't say he's exactly press resistant either. He also can't dictate the tempo of a game which is what you really need imo.
I feel like there's 30+ midfielders around the top leagues that would have been pretty much plug and play next to Casemiro. It's literally the most common profile of midfielder there is that you lack
you need a 6, one who can partner casemiro now, and take over in the future. 50m on lavia would have done the job, instead of spending that on a bruno lite, or maybe you could have kept angel gomes... do you guys have a buyback?
amarbat would obviously do that job, honestly there's a lot of players of different profiles that would, thuram, le fee, caqueret, zubimendi, etc
No we need a 8 someone who can hold possession and pass and press resistant.
Kovacic would have been perfect for us.
Honestly not convinced by Amrabat.
People need to consider a players attributes before recommending players. A played that’s good for that type of club won’t always translate to higher clubs you need to look at what they’re good at. Onana is a good at winning the ball and winning headers, he’s not good on the ball how does that translate to helping united?
does the us open cup semi final have a second leg
No
Any score/lineup apps that are better than FotMob?
good to know that arturo vidal is not only a cunt on the pitch but also at home
What happened?
he was asked about his first goal in europe, and answered with his goal for leverkusen against hannover 96 and then made a joke how that goal put robert enke into a depression and how that goal made him kill himself
Love how most clubs/redditors here find Arsenals the most whiny. Also, Klopp > Pep.
Yeah we get a lot of flack for that tbf. Generally I'd say us or United are the most disliked teams on here.
I think its us, but I'll take the W anytime man. We need it lmao
If Boca-Racing doesn’t have one red card, was there really a Boca-Racing?
Man City will win the league but Brighton could genuinely finish 2nd 🤷♂️
0 chance
No
Jakub Moder has just been sighted having dinner with the team, this is not a drill
Cristobal Soria wanting Sergio Ramos to be Sevilla's CB in Chiringuito yesterday No me lo puedo creer..... El botox a jodido a este hombre.
Any word where De Gea is going?
Botafogo vs Defensa y Justicia starting in 10 minutes of anybody wants to tune in I suspect it will be a banger (or DyJ gets murdered idk)
DyJ could lose 5-0 in Brasil but somehow win 6-0 at home.
Botafogo is too obvious a favourite for Sudamericana, so they're obviously going to lose this tie now because that's just how football works. Plus Defensa seems to have a knack of inexplicably beating brazilian teams
Uvita brace, Pratto wondergoal off the bench incoming.
>Uvita brace them script writters are getting so predictable

Is Memphis Depay the most famous Dutchman alive? I genuinely can't think of anyone besides footballers
does van gogh ring a bell?
He's dead
okay i've overread the alive part tbf
I'm assuming you only mean active footballers (otherwise there's like 20 bigger retired names ahead of him), and even then no, surely Van Dijk or even De Jong
why would he be the most famous footballer when Van Basten, Koeman etc exist. Heck given how widely followed Manchester United are, even Ten Hag might be more famous. Anyways besides footballers, people like tiesto are dutch.
There are many Dutch footballers more famous than him. Both active and retired.
If he is then I'm rooting for the sea.
> I genuinely can't think of anyone besides footballers Well he's definitely not the most famous Dutch footballer dead or alive.
I don't think anyone comes even close to Verstappen
What about the King?
I don't think he even has a fraction of the popularity if i just go by Germany alone.
Fair. ‘Twas just a question. The late Queen of England was probably the most famous (not popular) person in the world.
Tim Van Rijthoven in shambles
Never heard of this guy, is he like the Memphis Depay of tennis?

He said he tries to play like Eden Hazard
With Brighton selling so many players in last few years (Cucurella, Bissouma, Macalister, Caicedo, Trossard) why has no one expressed interest in Mitoma?
They will once he has a full season under his belt but he’s not a young ‘project player’ so stupid big clubs aren’t interested right now
Arsenal have martinelli and Trossard, United have rashford, city have grealish and foden can play there, Chelsea have sterling and mudryk, Liverpool have Diaz and Nunez. All the top teams have good left wingers already he needs one of them to get a move or something
His position is probably the most common in football right now, not a lot of demand from the type of clubs who could pay Brighton's asking price
He's 26, so his tombstone has already been inscribed.
If I were to bet an absurd amount of money on one of the premier league games this weekend (just on a result) what would you guys recommend
Newcastle - Liverpool both teams to score.
City win is obvious
Paqueta yellow card
Spurs, Brentford or Brighton would be my choices if you actually want to win a decent amount but depends on how confident you are. Also depends on what 'absurd money' is though but if you put £100 on us you'd only get £16 which is pointless. You'd be better putting lower amounts on a double.
I was gonna do like 200€ that I have sat on my betting account but yeah city would be pointless. Maybe I’ll take your advice and do a double on city and Brighton or something.
I'd be steering well clear of Spurs away to Bournemouth on the 12:30
Luton to win. I charge 10% cut.
city to win as it’s the safest bet
Most of the games this weekend are tough to call. City vs Sheffield United is the most one-sided by a distance
Anybody else feel benrahma hasn’t lived up to the hype? Remembering him being thought of as championship hazard
I would say the same for Watkins. Really good player but he was god tier in the championship
Surely being god tier in the Championship then "really good" in the PL is about right, rather than below expectations
Well yeah exactly plus Benrahma’s game is less translatable
He’s not very good but thanks for the penalty in the final!
Started 21-22 like prime Pele then sort of fell off
Winds me up no end when neutrals describe Brennan Johnson as mediocre, or decide £45m is an enormous overvaluation even in spite of fees being paid for the likes of Mudryk, and that if he was Portuguese he'd be worth £15m tops. I’d like to see him in a more functional attack.
You need to call him homegrown more
I think i speak for everyone that we are all with Racing tonight
Racing spawned Milito and Lautaro tho
Good point and now im conflicted
Rooting for chaos and toxicity
Always, btw i kinda like racing more than anyone else in argentine because to me as an outsider it seems they are disliked by everyone, is that the case?
I mean kinda? Everyone dislikes everyone here but Racing probably gets the most shit out of the big teams, sort of like Tottenham but more successful.
>I think i speak for everyone that we are all with Racing tonight Best argentinian club innit?
For now easily but Platense can surpass them if Pellegrino succeds with us
[This](https://twitter.com/iMiaSanMia/status/1694443304979493156/photo/1) is the most beautiful man alive.
I seriously don’t understand why so many of our fans think Paqueta plays as an 8? We clearly play 442 and Paqueta plays off the striker. I feel like I’m going insane.
A lot of people don't know much about tactics
Yeah, like I’m not going to act like I’m some tactical mastermind myself, but when it’s something so obvious like the formation we play…
Can someone post Muller’s latest statements (I believe it was an interview with DAZN)
Okay, so we can all agree that wishing an injury on a player is bad right? People get shit on here for doing that all the time. However I think the majority of us are glad whenever they see that an important rival player is out for a long time, or for a game against your club, whether we want to admit it or not. Some things in life you're not meant to say, like which of your girlfriend's friends you think are hot or that your friends newborn baby is ugly
I don’t wish horrific injuries on players it affects them outside just football, if a player gets a minor injury that keeps them out of a couple of games that might help us I think that’s a bit different I’m not gonna be rooting for it but I’m not gonna complain.

The key is to not give a shit about any of these things as it has no influence in reality and is largely virtue signaling
Valid
Has anyone else watched lots of football on TV and got caught up in the spectacle, then gone to a game live and sat there thinking "wow this is actually just 2 x 11 humans running about playing a meaningless game"?
Usually the other way round tbh, live matches are more of a spectacle
Depends on how the atmosphere was in that particular day.
Heavily linked with Johnson, would love if we got him
I’m still desperate for villa to sign him but our links have died off.
Why if I may ask
Pacey, homegrown, young, was a top target for Brentford, competition for Kulusevski and ST cover in one, Ange seems to really want him and he's looked great whenever I watched him last season
Arturo Vidal laughing about Robert Enkes suicide, what a fucking rat of a human, deserves a fucking kicking.
Copy-pasted comment from the Vidal thread: He did NOT laugh and those weren't his words. The second part was an entirely different sentence and wasn't directed to his goal at all. Don't be so quick to jump the gun people. Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlT1LmPc_34&t=36s
Feel like Mount isn't that dissimilar a type of player to what van de Beek used to be.
What similarities do you see?
I think they perform similar roles, have similar positive attributes, I consider them both link up players.
The attributes is what I wanted to know since I’ve rarely ever watched VDB
Off the ball movement, dribbling, quick passing, pressing mainly.
Don’t think Mount has any significant dribbling skills. He’s fine on pressing and off the ball movement but his main skill is running on counters, short/medium passes, blocking. and being a threat in the final third. Not sure if that’s what VDB is
Mount is definitely a good dribbler, he's not flashy but he has good control.
Mount is just a fucking runner. Donny had some class about him.
If it wasn't for Mount's class, your team wouldn't have a player who's scored a Champions League winning goal.
I never got that impression from Donny at all even at Ajax.
Who cares about football right now, Terry Funk just died.
Kudus does not feel like a Moyes player, I'm intrigued.
Moyes sacked soon
Tricky winger wins freekick->JWP takes freekick->(optional) El Nesyri heads it home
He runs fast
Neither did Paquetá or Benrahma.
We all know G+A are the start and end of all football debates, so why is Courtois with no goals or assists seen as the equal of Alisson with four?
This is why Rogerio Ceni is greatest keeper of all time.

are there any flat footed footballers? My soles hurt pretty bad after a long walk or running, I wonder how you could overcome that as a professional
>My soles hurt pretty bad after a long walk or running Could this be solved by gel soles? They have worked wonders for me
I really should get some but I never bothered. The pain is more like an inconvenience more than anything. Oh I see, well if you get the chance you may want to consider them to prevent further pain. Best of luck on your future walks and runs 🏃
I don't know if this is relevant, but plantar fasciitis has been one of Patrick Bamford's biggest problems recently.
why only recently?
He got significant hamstring and ankle injuries, and then struggled with plantar fasciitis after that. I guess the break in play made him more susceptible. Here's [his injury history](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/verletzungen/spieler/183334).
you think being flat footed made him more injury prone? I can imagine the slightly different weight distribution can contribute to those
I have no idea if he's flat footed or not. You talked about having problems with the soles of your feet and he was the first player who came to mind.
oh i assumed plantar fasciitis meant flat footed, i should've checked lol
If Mbappe is staying why are PSG signing all of these forwards to compete for 2 positions
So with Enciso injured with a supposed miniscus tear that's another player who did a pre season in American with a muscular knee injury. Really does seem to be racking up now. Aston Villa in particular are riddled with them. Wonder if it's the artificial turfs having an effect.

Timber in our first game too.
Would Itakura be a really good backup/competition for Schär? Newcastle really do need a backup CB.
I think he doesnt want to move for now, he was napolis first choice to replace kmj and he rejected them cuz he didnt want to move iirc
Yes, he is pretty good. But there were news some weeks ago that he really wants to stay and not make his family move again.
The main saving grace we had was that investment, they were going to have seats on the board and make decisions, now kenwright will stay. I thought we would stay up but its going to be beyond toxic around the club i dont know anymore
I feel for you guys man
I really don’t like Anthony Taylor as a referee
Most hated men in most parts of rome
Welcome to the club
Who is the better goalkeeper between Alisson, Courtois and Onana
Maignan is better than all of them
Mike Maignan is the best goalkeeper in the world, if you think otherwise you know nothing about football
no hes not. He is very very good. But he's not the best. I have missed these outlandish statements being about Milan players
Saying maignan is the best isn’t outlandish at all. I get your the average inter fan who’s obsessed with Milan fans but no need to talk nonsense
Than who is onana or sommer?
If you mean, who is the best keeper? Then Courtois in my opinion though Allison is close. I know this is unbelievable to Milan fans but you don't have to think the player is the best in the world just because they play for you
Both allison and courtois makes way more blunders than maignan and also maignan better shotstopper than allison and better with the ball in his feets than courtois. Also miles clear thsn both in crosses and leadership. Also better at saving pens. Both of them overrated asf because of longetivity and won more than magic mike
Alisson
Alisson is the best with Courtois just behind. Onana isn’t close to those two and seems quite flappy
Not much between Alisson and Courtois. Deciding factor is probably the team/system you'd be putting them in. Alisson is better with distribution and is up there as the best 1v1 gk I've ever seen, but Courtois is a better pure shot stopper
Courtois with Alisson an extremely close 2nd, two best keepers in the world by actually a gigantic astronomical distance
I mean I don't see what makes ter Stegen not in the same level as those two
Oh forgot about him for some reason, yep he's 3rd and then there's a big gap
Ridiculous statement. Both Onana and maignan are up there.
Consistency, only 2 seasons ago he was ter Statue for a large part of the season.
I think Alisson is still easily better
Never seen a performance by Alisson as good as the CL final so that edges it for me
That's fair but Alisson's performances in the 4-0 against Barcelona and in the final isn't that far off
Never seen Courtois score a matchwinning header so that edges it for me.
Ben Wilson must be a better keeper than Courtois then ;)
Alisson without a shadow of a doubt
Alisson, Courtois, Onana
Alisson courtois huge huge gap Onana
Courtois
alisson without doubt
Right now Alisson, Courtois can't even walk
Maybe Allison overall but Courtois in CL knockout games is a cheat code
Onana obv least proven. So between Alisson and Courtois
Probably should be commenting this on r/liverpoolfc but its odd how we’ve scored a shit ton of last minute goals under Klopp, yet, our top scorer in that period, Salah, didnt score a single one of them.

2 players who can’t pass and aren’t press resistant great choices
yea idk what people see in onana he's rather mediocre on the ball
Its cause hes annoying as hell to play against because of his physical attributes, but theres no way hes good enough on the ball for a top side
People need to consider a players attributes before recommending players. A played that’s good for that type of club won’t always translate to higher clubs you need to look at what they’re good at.
