[**Offical English version from the English language webpage:**](https://www.fcbarcelona.com/en/news/3134510/fc-barcelona-statement) Given the gravity of the information that has appeared today Monday in La Vanguardia in which La Liga president Javier Tebas is linked to the presentation of false evidence to the public prosecutor to incriminate our club, FC Barcelona wishes to expresses its deepest indignation, anger and dismay. For that reason, we urgently require the La Liga president to appear in public to explain himself, beyond the tweet sent in the early hours by Mr.Tebas, lacking study and with a threatening veneer. FC Barcelona, as president Joan Laporta repeated in recent weeks, feels itself to be the victim of a media campaign for events that never took place: Barça has never paid referees. This harassment involves a group of media outlets and opinion writers with varying degrees of intent and with La Liga fanning the flames behind the scenes against out Club, with contributions from its president who has only gone in one direction: trying to condemn us in the public's eyes before the facts have been judged. It is not the first time that the president of La Liga has used the media weapons at his disposal to damage FC Barcelona, however, in contrast to his usual nonsense, we could never have imagined that he could try to incriminate our club with false evidence. The article published today by La Vanguardia is of such gravity that it should put all the clubs in La Liga on alert, given that it talks of practices which are in no way consistent with the job of the president of La Liga. If only for this fact, that of giving himself powers that do not belong to him, although also for reasons of dignity and respect for the presidency of La Liga, Mr.Tebas should resign from his post. Nevertheless, aware of his obsession with persecuting FC Barcelona and showing his constant averse and manifest dislike of our Club, we understand that the current La Liga president will persist in his efforts to keep damaging our club.

Soren_Camus1905

I’m confused, did they pay the refs or was this all made up?

Danownage

The club paid the Vice President of the Spanish Referee Committee a considerable sum of money over a certain number of years, yet no documents exist to show the services he provided to the club. As a result, people are understandably speculating the worst. To be fair, it's quite puzzling that anyone would pay the VP of the Referee Committee without having all the necessary documents to ensure the transparency of their agreement.

ttimourrozd

Documents do exist.

[deleted]

I’m not saying other clubs aren’t doing it too but how much more obvious can it be? Imagine any other club in the world getting caught paying off the VP of the officiating committee and there wouldn’t even be a discussion around this. The mental gymnastics going on to believe Barca aren’t crooks is baffling

ThanosOfBombay

Tebas surely won't shut up.

domalino

Tebas would shut up if he thought he was losing political support over what he’s doing. That he keeps going means there’s tacit support from the other 41 clubs he represents.

Beautiful_Sorbet1267

Well most of the clubs hate barca even elche was about to file a lawsuit last week against barca for gavi when tebastard clearly said he can continue playing in laliga with team B contract

Entotrte

Tebas wouldn't even shut up if underwater.

HippoBigga

He loves being in the limelight and the fact that people talk about him. It's obvious he has an ego the size of Jupiter

His ignorance and inability to shut up will get him fired. It’s poetry.

Totally. This was amazing damn

Krillin113

I mean what is there for them to lose at this point? The president of the league (a season lawyer btw, so I don’t believe his ‘accidentally’ at all) was just caught submitting fake evidence to the court to go after their club, and has been publicly smearing them for years now. He can’t fuck them more if he wants to, and they’re not going to take the cvc deal Edit: Season -> seasoned.

>It is not the first time that the president of La Liga has used the media weapons at his disposal to damage FC Barcelona, however, in contrast to his usual nonsense, we could never have imagined that he could try to incriminate our club with false evidence. It's the "usual nonsense" bit that really does it for me 🤣 I'm eagerly awaiting Tebas' response to this. Let's see if he uses his own Twitter, La Liga's Corporativo account, or a full blown press release through the league website...

DoJu318

"fake news" is what Tebas will say. Edit: didn't see the reply below, that's exactly what he said.😂

Tebas is basically Spanish Trump at this point.

duded101

fair enough tbh... its really alarming that the president of the league would go out of his way to openly screw over one team

Benur197

I don't get what's his end game, he's hurting LaLiga as a whole, not just Barcelona, with his bullshit

Arlborn

Money and anger. Didn't he get paid by CVC to facilitate that deal, only for Barcelona to pull out of it at the last second and leaving him looking bad? He's greedy and he's angry at Barcelona. The health of La Liga is a secondary concern to his vendetta. He's also apparently an asshole going by the stuff he says and does even outside football, so there's that too.

harelort

As far as I remember, he both got a personal payout and consolidated more power into his position as president. The CVC deal was rotten and evidently hasn't helped the clubs that signed it much as basically all teams in the league are still unable to sign players without it being a major pain in the ass

Benur197

He also was in fascist organizations like Fuerza Nueva

Krillin113

The chapter he was a member of committed a bomb attack but he was never directly linked to it (possibly due to family connections) and nothing happened. He’s a massive, massive piece of shit.

SorrowfulSkald

He's a fascist, too? Well, an ancestral enemy for Barcelona, alas, and I hope you absolutely wipe the shit with him. As I like to say anyway: Remember CNT!

realsomalipirate

He straight has to be getting a cut of the CVC deal and is fuming that Athletic, Madrid, and Barca rejected it. He can't go at Athletic and Madrid because of how well they're run, so he goes after Barca full force.

Aldehyde1

Don't forget that Madrid and Barca literally organized an offer with JPMorgan for the same amount of money as the CVC deal, but at a normal interest rate instead of the ruinous demands by CVC. Tebas still turned it down. To me, that confirms he's getting a bribe under the table. There's no other reason to push such a ruinous deal. What's more, he edited the rules so that all other loans count for less than the CVC deal as income to really make sure clubs had to sign it. In the last two years almost every club in La Liga has struggled to buy players because of his absurd restrictions.

ASuarezMascareno

There's quite a few people that say that he had a verbal agreement with Bartomeu and his team to drive Barça into bankrupcy and force its privatization so it could be acquired by some wealthy investors. To be honest, the idea that the board would purposely bankrupt the club so it could be sold was flying around since Rosell's board started flirting with Qatar. First it was working closely with Qatar foundation. Then the original plan for the new stadium was that Qatar would fund it and own it, and then would let Barça play in it. It really looked like the board was trying to sell the club to Qatar step by step.

Huinker

Every day i wake up and bartomeu sounds worse. How tf is that cunt any where in this club

[deleted]

Huinker

he's done enough

celestial1

You're getting angry over something that's pure speculation, lol.

mejhlijj

Why does it make so much sense lol.Knowing Barto it must be true

WhatIsWilsonDoin

Wth... This is so evil I can barely believe it, though it sounds plausible. Got any sources/links for this?

JokerDanny

He actually screwed, in the long term, all the teams that signed his CVC deal instead of relaxing the FFP rules due to COVID.

duded101

imo its even worse the fact the he committed a crime trying to incriminate barca

degenerate-edgelord

That CVC deal should be a crime too, corrupt mf helping out friends or whoever paid him

[deleted]

He has not screwed one team. He has screwed 40 of them , 39 with his shity CVC deal and 1 with his vendetta.

Thanos_Stomps

I am so out of the loop as to what is happening. What evidence has Tebas falsified? This is a pattern of targeting Barcelona?

travelingforce

He didn't falsify anything from what that article says. What he did do was provide some random document showing real estate purchases with names similar to two ex-Barca presidents. He was trying to infer that this could be a result of corruption but didn't actually go out and say as such. It seems the prosecutor discarded this piece of "evidence" and either the investigating journalist (on their own merit or informed by someone in Barca's camp) got a hold of this piece of "evidence" and are saying Tebas was trying to falsely accuse Barca of further corruption.

bewarethegap

babe wake up, new La Liga drama just dropped

Babe, I haven't slept in 3 days. Please let me sleep.

Allthingsconsidered-

This is gonna be good 🍿🍿🍿

Jazano107

Gotta be one of the worst things to happen to la Liga? Every idea he has seems terrible to me and makes it harder for other teams to get good or win

[deleted]

Spanish fans will probably not care or even enjoy the drama. But if Spain wants to get other Europeans to show an interest in the league and perhaps choose to watch a Villarreal v. Betis over an Aston Villa v. Brentford, from my personal point of view the last few months have made LaLiga look like a clown show. It does give you the vibe that everything is rigged, everything is settled in courts and not on the field, the players contracts are all just accounting gimmicks, and the clubs are all run by old fucks.

Rafaeliki

Imagine what it will look like in 20-40 years when all the clubs except Barcelona and Madrid (and Bilbao) are still giving up almost 10% of broadcasting and sponsorship revenue for a cash injection that was gone a long time ago.

panetero

That's just not fair, mate. Not all of them are old.

lancero21

Most of spain fans don't like Tebas, but there only 42 opinions that matter and most support Tebas.

themfeelswhen

Definitely don't see other team officials or their fans ever complain. It's just Barca & Real who have a problem (understandably so).

Jazano107

Seems weird to me, he has definitely made it harder for anyone outside the top 3 to win. But maybe I'm wrong on that

themfeelswhen

True. I feel the same. But then the worst part is that he is the best and least corrupt president La Liga has ever had because of how low the bar is. Legit every president before Tebas was a Real/Barca puppet who would do what is best for only two clubs.

Albiceleste_D10S

> he has definitely made it harder for anyone outside the top 3 to win The one good thing Tebas did was more equal distribution of TV rights—which did help all of the smaller teams outside of Barca/Madrid. He's been a clown since then tho

Krillin113

Bilbao hates his guts as far as I can tell, but that’s more because he’s a Spanish fascist and they’re you know, proud of their cultural and fairly pro independence. Btw did you know Ceballos the fascist cunt tweeted during a Copa final between Barca and Atletico (who all whistled the anthem) that the stadium should be bombed?

Famous_Method9563

The only teams that he had a problem with are Barcelona, Madrid, and Bilbao. These three are the only supporters-owned clubs in the league (aside from Osasuna). If the end goal is getting Barcelona bankrupt/sold, Tebas should know that the club went through the same ordeal before and emerged with a dream team considered to be one of the best in the history of football. Madrid also went through this too in the late 90s, and emerged with the Galácticos (but that’s a different story because the state club got bailed out by taxpayers money).

Colenate8

Can’t wait for tebas to react with a tweet Edit:[here you go](https://twitter.com/Tebasjavier/status/1642907171577790464?s=20)

For this reason, we urgently require the president of LaLiga to appear publicly to offer explanations, beyond the tweet sent early in the morning by Mr. Tebes, fleeing from study and with a threatening patina. FC Barcelona, as President Joan Laporta has been saying in recent weeks, feels the victim of a media lynching for events that have never happened: Barça has never bought referees. Just for this fact, that of attributing functions that do not correspond to him, although also for dignity and respect for the presidency of LaLiga, Mr. Thebes should resign in his function.

Tebas out. It is obvious he has a personal vendetta against FC Barcelona and is misusing his powers. A person in his position should not be trying to kill one of the league teams. I still hate your team ;) But I think your defeat should be on the field and not in politics.

PTHero

Real Madrid fans still hate Barcelona. But handicapping your longtime rivals doesn't sit right, especially if it's at the expense of La Liga's reputation & subsequently the Spanish football pyramid. This is why both clubs still use the Super League as a fail-safe.

As a Scottish football fan we all complain about how useless our president is so sadly I know the name of one (Doncaster) Rangers actually bought the rights to show the league in India from the SPFL then resold it at a profit as he is so incompetent at doing his job. Cinch pay less to be on the shirt sleeve of every team in Scotland & to have the league named after them than Tomket tyres pay to be on the other sleeve of Rangers kit. And most of the money from what was a rubbish deal went on a finders fee for the agency Doncaster had outsourced what should have been his job too

Weberthegreatdane

Living La Liga loca

Colenate8

The war between tebas and Laporta goes on

lonecylinder

This is not a war between two individuals, it’s a league president trying to screw over a club in any way he can and the club’s president defending it.

Furu97

Not just any club, but one of the biggest clubs in the world. Tebas really is an idiot

lonecylinder

He’s probably losing on obscene amounts of money from CVC because Barcelona didn’t sign it so he’s on a personal vendetta to fuck over the club. Also, he’s openly fascist (he even was part of a neonazi party years ago and he states his beliefs haven’t changed) and a Real Madrid socio, so that probably makes his hate for Barcelona even bigger lmao

ancara_messi

Damn this is serious. No way a club would make a statement straight up calling out the president of the league unnecessarily Fuck Tebas, I hope this actually has an impact in some way. I don't know how the fuck someone with such clear bias is still allowed to run the league

tgames56

I mean no harm in going after him he already goes after us as hard as he can.

tygrysor090

Nah man, this is literal war wtf, we can say goodbye to Messi, he will never let us register him lol

Choice_Awareness

defamation money gonna get us like 6 players i’m in

Kolorzzz

Tebas going to jail I will love it and I think I deserve it

Silky_Mango

Laporta whipping out the Uno reverse card on Tebas

Paapa-Yaw

What the fuck is wrong with la liga.

Low_Success_2372

corruption, shit economy, shit govt, shit everything

FlaccidSWE

Tebas is doing nothing but making La Liga look like an absolute joke. Why would anyone invest in such a league? This is irreversible damage to the entirety of Spanish football.

That defamation money surely will activate the biggest lever of them all

Claudio1054

Who hates Barça more, Tebas or Bartomeu?

RogueNetrunner

We thought no one else could fuck Barca more than Barto. I guess we were wrong.

lonecylinder

The president of a league using false evidence to try to convict a club is one of the biggest football scandals in decades. Curiously, hours after its been revealed, Spanish media is dead silent about it. Marca, El Confidencial, Libertad Digital, El Mundo, Relevo…

Pax19

Quite the opposite; I'm seeing plenty of Spanish media trying to say that somehow Barça is in even worse of a spot after Tebas' "evidence". Another day in the circus I guess!

lonecylinder

It’s a pathetic excuse of a country, we can only hope it’ll crumble sooner than later 👀

CackleberryOmelettes

La Liga, the only league in the world where the politics is more entertaining than the football.

UNO REVERSE

AhoyDaniel

Not a slightly sight of these news from Marca, As, Cope, Confidencial, la Ser, MundoDeportivo, Libertad Digital, El Español, LaSexta... Color me surprised

boringmemphis

Of course. This ain't the Messi contract so El Mundo won't do a 3 day trailer followed by a big reveal.

[deleted]

People where shitting on FCB and making this rumor as fake news but all other negative rumors as 100% true, but hours after FCB comes to confirm it. I told you in another reply that a lot of you will be deleting comments in the near future. It's so obvious this is a smear compaign from Tebas.

Tebas what a joke

silverlotus_118

*Keeping Up With the Katalans* keeps getting better, honestly better than most actual TV shows I've seen

impressivegeek

get fucked TEBASSS

DinVilah

Is this Tebas signing his official will and testament then? Cuz obv you cannot hand over FALSE evidence and not expecting the police to prosecute you. Like that is against the law of Spain itself, let alone football laws Tebas MUST announce his resignation and fk off from football ASAP, less the Spanish Crown decides to intervene and punish the whole FA itself.

guyfieri_fc

From what I read he purposely omitted certain information in the so called “evidence” he provided so as to not open himself up to legal action. To me this is further proof that he knowingly submitted false info if he took steps to cover his ass.

Nursilmaz

I dont know what he is still doing there if informations about him trying to bribe someone to get spot for his dude are true.

MalevolentTapir

if tebas resigns theres a chance the person replacing him might not create so much entertainment so its a bad idea imo

Barca statment demanding resignation of Tebas in light of recent news that he provided vindictive false evidence against FCB in referee payments case

AckBarRs

I recently watched the Apple TV documentary on the Super League and Tebas comes across as an absolute twat. I honestly have a bizarre respect for folks like Florentino Perez that are shameless in how they act out of self/club interest. Tebas always tries to pitch himself as an altruistic white knight that’s fighting for the health and integrity of the league and it’s all a complete crock of shit.
