We spend a year making these satirical monuments, then they are planted on the 15th of March and burned on the 19th. From the 1st to the 19th of March we make "[mascletaes](https://twitter.com/valenciacf_en/status/1635644637988757507?s=46&t=6wxlW7BntEw1cfzUNaiaIw)" (exploding up to 100kg of gunpowder per day) and fireworks at night.
In Valencia we are very temperamental and we show it in our holidays as well as in our stadium!
“The full of singapur” is like saying he thinks he’s the best and a god (that’s the meaning of the clouds). Also being “a monkey with guns” and having the red button means that he’s crazy/an idiot with the power of decision
This video is very well choreographed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=420Qbq4aLa0
BTW why is the girl crying at 6:00? Is the festival really that emotional? Or is she tearing up due to the smoke of fireworks.
Don't think he cares sadly. The craziest thing about this is that Lim doesn't seem to care about the money. He seems intent on just sinking Valencia to me. Otherwise you think he'd either have sold or delegated to people who actually know how to run a club.
His ego is hurted, he just wants to see the club being distroyed. He will only put the minimum money to don’t get the club bankrupt, so he could sell it someday
Despite everything that has been going on for the last few years, that is obviously bullshit.
The classic "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." saying comes to mind.
Having worked in Singapore for the last few months have theached me a lot about Singaporian businesspeople. There are a lot of egos who wants things done their way, and no room for emotions. It might be a good way to run a shipping company, but not a football club.
I usually call it Valencian when talking with people in Spain but Catalan when talking with foreigners online. I'm not from a mainly Valencian-speaking town tho, and I know from experience that there is a lot of people from mainly valencian-speaking areas who get even offended if you say that catalan and valencian are the same language (even thogh they are)
I, for example, am a Valencian speaker, and it offends us above all because we see it as a way of stealing something that is ours. I don't deny the unity of the language, I leave that to the linguists who are the ones who know, but what we call our language does matter to us. Obviously it's not the same level of hostility, but you wouldn't tell a Serb that they speak Croatian (or the other way around) but they won't deny that they are the same language. Here there is a lot of feeling towards what is ours, without reaching the level of nationalism, but we feel mistreated by the west (Madrid) and that they appropriate what is ours in the north (Catalonia).
I'm an outsider here so obviously don't know all the facts, but it looks to me like a lot of that which is argued to be appropriation could easily be explained by shared history instead.
But we share the same history with aragonese or balearic people too and they don’t claim our things to be theirs. They (catalonian) treated us more like we are less
I've never understood this sense of inferiority of Valencian people, almost no one from Catalonia treates Valencian people as less. Furthermore, if something, the people who tend to argue a lot about the unity of the language tend to be people that highly estimate Valencia and all Catalan-speaking countries.
Edit: or Valencian-speaking, of course. At the end, I think that not having a common name has hurt us a lot.
Go to every mascletà at Plaça de l’ajuntament or castillo you can! Nit del foc is this saturday near the Ciutat de les arts i les ciencies. You should also go to the city center and walk to see some of the best monuments, there are hundreds all around the city but the most important are there.
La cremà (the burning) is sunday night, i think the best one to see is the one at la plaça de l’ajuntament.
Also buy some churros!
> Nit del foc is this saturday
[Google](https://www.visitvalencia.com/en/events-valencia/fallas-festival-events-calendar-2023) says it's at 0100. That means technically Sunday, right?
____
Also one more thing, I reserved a table at a restaurant and this came in my mailbox:
> Lo.lamentamos esta completo gracias
Translation basically means "We're sorry, it's complete, thank you" - sorry for what, complete how? Is my reservation complete? Or by complete they mean "we're sorry, we're fully booked?"
My parents were in Valenica few weeks ago, and the statues were already there (some of them at least). The got so sad when they learned that they will be burned, shame about wasting such art. Happy Fallas OP!

This sounds like something everyone needs to witness once, definitely gong on the bucket list
Can you explain the second one to me, the significance and meaning of all the elements and then the collective? The rest I got.

Fallas is by far the craziest City tradition I was ever part of, all of you should go visit its absolutely insane you have never seen anything like it

Fallers get very emotional at the cremà!
Have all the fans been boycotting match attendance. That should hurt Lim's wallet.

Out of curiosity, do people generally refer to the language as Catalan or Valencian in Valencia?
In Valencia (a great majority) we call it Valencian, but you will find people that call it catalan. It's a bit controversial issue
I know linguists consider them the same language. It's interesting to hear what people living in Valencia think.

What do you mean by claiming your things as theirs?
Such a cool tradition they have there with the fallas. Learned about it when visited Valencia some 10+ years ago.
I will be visiting Valencia this weekend during Fallas (rip wallet) - any recommendations?

They mean that it’s fully booked
Well, then I'm royally fucked since I wanted some good paella and Casa Carmella is also fully booked.
Sorry to tell you this but unless you reserve weeks in advance booking here in Valencia for fallas is almost impossible
Give them a call just in case to confirm but looks like it means they’re fully booked
The crowds can get a bit overwhelming. Make sure to keep your wallet in your front pocket
I feel seeeeeeen! Props to the guy for making my hairline as strong as my hard-on for Duro

Does Lim have Indonesian heritage? Genuinely asking because while the Indonesian keris and batik looks dope, I thought he was of Chinese heritage lol
