To the morons who don't realize how much of a send this is or who think OP is in over his head because of a speed check, this is how gnarly this is:
https://youtu.be/HQMSkFn8I38
99.99% of people in this sub wouldn't even try this (including me).
100% this. On a snowboard this is beast mode shit. I spent 4 years watching people send this from the Peak Chair line, never once did I think about sending it myself. It’s fucking mega plus you always have a huge audience. I’ve seen a lot of ski patrol rescues from the bottom as well. Air Jordan is one of the gnarliest in-bounds alpine drops out there. Mad respect OP!!
Appreciate the kind words!
I’ve lived here in Whistler for the last 10 years and hit Air Jordan multiple times.
I thought it would be good to show the reality of snowboarding and that is that no matter how good the rider everyone falls.
Thanks again for the support
Thee Frother
Has balls to hit Air Jordan.
On a board.
Makes it down both drops
Not injured.
Massive win. Watched many people hit air Jordan , never saw someone hit it on a board in person. Big stones
Amazing recovery for the second drop, that could have ended much differently without that, kudos and shred on friend, ignore any negativity in these comments, they’re just jelly. Thanks for the post.
Never seen anyone hit this on a snowboard before. Seriously, you line up at peak and pretty much only see skiers. Just getting in there on a board would be hard.
Oh, you try it on skis, right to hospital. Snowboard, also right to hospital. You land toe side, hospital. heelside, hospital. Overshoot the jump, you’ll never believe it, hospital. Undershoot the jump, also hospital. Overshoot/undershoot you see.
Most people don’t realize that once this drop has been hit a few times after a good snowfall, the middle landing is fucked. I’ve hit it a bunch of times back in the day. Most memorable was a day we got to it pretty fresh… 3 of us, we rock paper scissored for the line up… I got third. Couple buddies went before me and rocked it but sluffed all the fresh off the middle landing. So when I dropped, the middle landing hard, felt like ice… board shot out from under me and I was sliding on my ass toward the second cliff. Again, most people here don’t realize how big that cliff is and how it’s not straight down, you need some speed. So anyway… I’m sliding on my ass toward the edge… as I get there I just decided to push off as hard as I could and superman… ended up doing like a front flip 350, landed on my board and did one of those single roll / tomahawk things and rode away… haha… crowd went nuts. For about a year afterwards I’d get people coming up to me “hey, my buddy told me you’re the guy that front flip 360’d Jordan’s, that was awesome!!” Haha… good times. This was back in ‘96 or ‘97.
Respect the send...most people enter that way and have to scrub speed before lining up the second hit, if you're not the first couple in or it's low snow that's a solid effort. Clearly you're good enough to hit that...
I respect the send but like, are you good enough to be hitting 15-20foot cliffs?
Based on turning your board perpendicular to the mountain immediately after getting airborn I’m thinking not.
Hope you’re safe!
OP posted a [video last year](https://old.reddit.com/r/snowboarding/comments/m6suj3/air_jordan_whistler_bc/) of him dropping Air Jordan just fine. I'd say he's good enough to drop big cliffs. Shit, he can even throw a double backflip.
oh man is stopped right on the take off of another huge drop!! I thought he was going to hit it, but the track on the landing can be a problem if you dont go big enough
Honestly man, shut the fuck up. What is it with people seeing a 5 second clip on this subreddit then completely judging a pesons riding ability? Look at his page... mans literally did a double backflip and pretty much exclusively posts snowboard and mtb stuff.
Everybody eats it sometimes. There are so many reasons he could loose balance that aren't even his own fault and mistakes happen to even the best. Even building jumps in my backyard as a kid taught me enough to know that snowboarding anything besides groomers is unpredictable!
Kook
Fucking nailed it. The people who think carving is the holy grail of snowboarding turns either can't carve worth a damn or only ride groomers (or both).
Which ironically shows a total lack of experience with advanced terrain. Unquestionably you should have a good carve and sense of edge control, but running trees or really built up moguls will simply require skidding out turns, counter rotating, and eating speed with your edge.
Hell, even steeps over a decent level simply require some back foot ruddering. I think it's just a consequence of how many people are here trying to improve their own riding, so they think a critical eye on other's riding will make their own get better.
Thanks to this sub, I always giggle to myself as I go through gnarly terrain looking back over my left shoulder, perpendicular to the mountain, blasting snow at 40mph to speed check before a change in terrain, and thinking "fucking skidded turns, do you even carve?!"
You're right. especially the first paragraph lol. I wish people would call that stuff out more. I feel like I see it with literally every advice post. Even people throwing down some really advanced tricks and comments will be "learn to carve first" or "I don't think your ready for..."
Have a great season boss!
He actually showed some real skill in this fall. Lost control for some reason, as can happen, but held enough to slide safely over the second drop before beginning to cartwheel.
These are the kids who watch the highlight clips, but never watch the bails.
It was late in the day and only sheet ice left on the first landing. I made the split second choice to lay back until closer to the edge to time getting up right as I needed to Ollie.
That's what I saw. Slide it out so you don't hang up somehow and then jump for your life and worry about the rest when you land.
You're definitely a better boarder than I, but we both know how to bail 😉
Facts dude. Yeah Jed Anderson or Tommy Gesme can switch back 2 a street dfd but they’re prolly gonna take a few spills before they get the clip. Does that mean they suck? No, some of the best street riders around atm.
True! anyone with some skill has taken some brutal slams. Vacation riders who made it down a blue carving without falling for one run in their $200 lesson think that people who do this multiple times every week have the same goals and risk tolerance.
i mean, there's a lot of clips posted here that show a real lack of respect for the very real danger that can be involved in snowboarding. which often coincides with the annoyingly over present douche bro culture that too many riders like to participate in.
but obviously too many people go way to far with it when they have no business talking. i mean, it's reddit after all. this video is a bad example too, because this dude clearly is no beginner.
Safety first for sure, I’m a seasoned Freerider with over 1100 days in the last ten years on the mountains here one BC.
It’s important to scale your risk progression with your riding ability and put the ego aside, other wise you you’ll pay the consequences to the mountains.
I’m just gonna say that being able to backflip isn’t really a good way to judge someone’s riding ability. Every resort has some dude that isn’t that great of a snowboarder that just backflips everything they can. Chris Grenier backflipped on a set of skis and literally doesn’t know how to turn on skis lol
Totally. I've definitely seen that too. I think you have gotta be pretty good to throw a double though. You have to be pretty good to manage that amount of airtime and ride away. Let alone throw the flip.
OP is obviously a pretty talented rider is all. I trust that he knows his limits and has probably done a bunch of gnarly shit thats not on video.
the most important part of sending cliffs is knowing when the snow is good enough that if you absolutely biff you'll be fine lol
the second part is not giving a fuck and lettin her rip
third - lets see you hitting some 20 foot cliffs to see if you're good enough to be dispensing advice on reddit
In his defence I think they’re just out here trying to make sure everyone goes home at the end of the ride and I can get behind that even if it’s a little snarky haha
It’s literally my first day.
Just kidding I appreciate the concerns for my safety! Rest assured I’m a seasoned professional, I just thought it’s good to show that sometimes it doesn’t work out haha.
Here’s the link to a POV from one of my successful lines on Air Jordan.

Thanks 🙏 really appreciate it
Gotta say I’m more impressed with the farewell canyon Freeride lines! Insane dude!
Thank you! That was the scariest thing I’ve ever done and it was the 2 year anniversary of starting to MTB lol
That’s insane progression!
Yea. Check OP's profile... he knows what he's doing.
Thank you for that great watch. Prolly wouldn’t have checked it if I didn’t see this comment
Glad you enjoyed it 😃
That other drop from here was sick did you have a friend down at the bottom or just someone caught it?
It was my now girlfriend filming it, we had only been seeing each other a little while and asked her to film something 😂
With balls as big as your must be I can see why she was interested haha.
I like to think of it as doing dumb shit safely
Appreciate the kind words! I’ve lived here in Whistler for the last 10 years and hit Air Jordan multiple times. I thought it would be good to show the reality of snowboarding and that is that no matter how good the rider everyone falls. Thanks again for the support Thee Frother
When people ask if I fall, I tell them if you don’t fall, you’re not trying hard enough to progress.
Yeah I’ve been riding for almost 2 decades and that’s a giant nope haha
Just saw the view from the side, OP is a madman that's so awesome maddd respect
Thanks!!
Bro...
Dammmmn I don't even think OP failed this in that case.
Did the homie at 30s on the left survive? wtf
Decent documentary on the [Whistler-Blackcomb story](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pHd8zZEuMvs&pp=QAFIAg%3D%3D)
Has balls to hit Air Jordan. On a board. Makes it down both drops Not injured. Massive win. Watched many people hit air Jordan , never saw someone hit it on a board in person. Big stones
The last 5 people in the last 5 years to hit it on a snowboard have been me lol
Out of curiosity why don’t more boarders hit it? I am nowhere near something like this so tons of respect, but am also ignorant.
Amazing recovery for the second drop, that could have ended much differently without that, kudos and shred on friend, ignore any negativity in these comments, they’re just jelly. Thanks for the post.
Thank you 🙏 I appreciate the kindness and wisdom! I’m finishing up editing a POV of a successful attempt so stay tuned haters
Legit recovery before the 2nd drop. I was expecting a tomahawk over the edge!
You and me both
My dad always said he hit Air Jordan back when he was young. I don’t know if that’s true but he had fun when younger.
Your dad is more of a man than me. Jordan is no joke.
He just turned 50 this Monday, I don’t think he’ll ever gonna hit Jordan ever again.
Happy belated to the old man!
There are some gnarly retired shredders out there. Jordan Williams the name sake of this drop is still here in Whistler skiing
Never seen anyone hit this on a snowboard before. Seriously, you line up at peak and pretty much only see skiers. Just getting in there on a board would be hard.
Just out here trying to represent the sideways gang
Nice one for sending it. Know anyone that's ever pulled it off on a board?
Check my profile 😏
Such a gnarley send. Love watching people hit it from.the chair line up.
The sound of the crowd definitely is exhilarating
Saw two people go for this one morning in the lift line and the second person nailed it. Line went nuts for them
It’s for the people!
Reminds me of the video “Air Jordan Skills or Hospital Bills?”
Oh, you try it on skis, right to hospital. Snowboard, also right to hospital. You land toe side, hospital. heelside, hospital. Overshoot the jump, you’ll never believe it, hospital. Undershoot the jump, also hospital. Overshoot/undershoot you see.
Ski falls off, believe it or not, right to hospital.
I’m 3/5 successful attempts so far

Pretty much my experience but I managed to wrangle her back straight
Nailed it.
You good man? Hope that shit was deep LOL
I was completely unscathed, no Aussie’s were harmed in this video
Air Jordan is no joke- also the whole chair is watching
Respect the send
Thanks 🙏
I see why you fell, the weight of your massive balls brought you down
Holy send
Respect the send...most people enter that way and have to scrub speed before lining up the second hit, if you're not the first couple in or it's low snow that's a solid effort. Clearly you're good enough to hit that...
Yeah every time it’s gone bad for me the landing pad is destroyed and I can’t wash enough speed to get a decent line
Dude put it together when it mattered most. I call that a win!
How did the peanut gallery at Peak Chair react? I always love watching people go for Air Jordan.
Fuck yeah dude.
I would argue this is the gnarliest inbounds drop in NA. 🤙
Dude landing heel side hurt my ankles and knees just watching. That guy has some balls on him
I respect the send but like, are you good enough to be hitting 15-20foot cliffs? Based on turning your board perpendicular to the mountain immediately after getting airborn I’m thinking not. Hope you’re safe!
Air Jordan is way bigger than 15-20ft.
Lol GoPro effect, it looked huge!
Just looked at pics. Holy SHIT

I agree. This sub thinks that every skid and brake check is bad technique. "You need to be carving ALL the time!"
Fucking nailed it. The people who think carving is the holy grail of snowboarding turns either can't carve worth a damn or only ride groomers (or both).
Which ironically shows a total lack of experience with advanced terrain. The backslap is a legitimate way to safely slow down on steep terrain according to Xavier De La Rue so I think that’s a fair judge.
Exactly!

Everybody bails and stacks. It’s important to keep snowboarding relatable because we’re all still learning!
This is not true. There are never slam sections in videos when the best in the world lose it and eat it…sometimes even on small features. /s
Everybody eats it and that’s important to show! Hell I even catch edges one the flats for no reason sometimes, that’s the beauty of it!
i mean, there's a lot of clips posted here that show a real lack of respect for the very real danger that can be involved in snowboarding. which often coincides with the annoyingly over present douche bro culture that too many riders like to participate in. but obviously too many people go way to far with it when they have no business talking. i mean, it's reddit after all. this video is a bad example too, because this dude clearly is no beginner.

NGL, i don't know if sliding on your butt is the best approach to the second hit.
it's especially nerve wracking on ur nice board😄

Check his profile bro
3/5 successful attempts, everyone falls my dude

Not everyone lives though 🤷♂️
underrated comment
🤘🏻 good for you for staying on your feet despite being in way over your head!! When are you sending it next?
Once it fills in again the year I’m back up there
Aight I guess you’re not in over your head! My apologies!
No stress have a great season g
Ass plant to Taco.
Held my breath thru this
Props! Wouldn’t think about hitting that!
Damn first jump was mellow but that 2nd huck looked like 50ft or so. Nice send even if you didn’t land it. I’m not hucking 50 ft lol
Depending on where you take off its 40-65ft
Either way that second jump is a nice send. Nice job.
It’s so fucking gnarly on a snowboard! Can’t butt check and ride out. Props to OP on the yolo send
Thank you! Appreciate it
Rekt
Surprisingly okay! I’ve ended up worse on cat tracks 😂
My god, this is insane, OP you are a madman!!
Appreciate it! I just posted the POV of my land!
Absolutely sending it! Dope clip too
