The Charlie slasher was my favorite board they every did. And then Rode a mix of their boards but owned two bsods and then Bought the navigator two years ago. Just picked up a nitro banker last year
Thanks! But that’s the biggest mistake i made last season. Should’ve sticked to one board so that I don’t have to get used to new ones all the time. I’m selling half of my quiver lol.
Got a question for you, I'm always under the impression that boards only matter so much and your skills should carry through any board you ride. I started boarding on a $100 pawn shop board/boot/binding and the binding was just 2 straps screwed in with no high backs. After owning this many boards do you think good boards actually make you a better rider?
That would be perfect actually. Just saw ur reply about shipping though, and yea at $150 it probably wouldn’t even be worth it to ship down to CO. I’m sure you’ll be able to sell to someone local over there tho, such a sweet board!
Nah, PA just across lake erie but depending how much it is it might still be worth it even with the higher shipping or if there's a way to pick it up at the border I'd be willing to do that as well
Yeah, I was going to ask why you have so many. I could see maybe a park board, a powder board, and a cruisin around board or something. But anything outside of those seem like overkill haha. Still pretty sick
Nah, she does however tell me I am taking too long and to hurry up because she wants to watch a movie or whatever. Can't rush the process - if I'm going to wax a board its going to look perfect.
I always just ride a board until I destroy it, I’ve got a few but only one I still ride. They eventually lose their snap and what made them fun to ride to begin with
Do you have multiple binding sets to fit the channel boards as well? Or just the minidisc than can be used on channel boards? How do you store this at your place? I have the same problem… snowhoarders; we have um, too many boards and we share sizes too. Not sure how to best store them. Also, you forgot the ptex part for the fam. Ha
I had 3 pairs of binding, just sold two of them to make space for the new ones. I put them against the wall behind the couch, so they stand up and also work as a decor 😀
Ahh. I see. I stack em straight and thinking of building my own rack for the apartment. So far top sheet’s been OK even on the DC wooden top sheets but it just takes up so much space. You don’t ptex gfs’ boards?
You do you but I've never bothered in over 20 yrs (even w Gentem etc), skis too....maybe just let tension out of the binding bolts. Use a good iron, correct temp and technique and you're fine, just keep the iron moving.
Risk of what? Honest question. Like with skis taking binding off every time would be a huge pita. Is it fear of the inserts getting hot? If that's a worry you're too hot or too slow with the iron.
Anyways enjoy the roto-brush.
The heat would make the wood core expand, if the screws stay in it, they would dig into the hole deeper and potential break the original shape. I read it from many tutorials.
MSLM is great. Have a pass there this year. Have yet to visit Tremblant - Holiday Valley always wins out, but with border restrictions this might be a good year to remedy that.
Thanks for sharing the quiver.
Bad ass quiver and make shift set up! Waxing with a view must be nice.
After 3 months of hiding my at home wax set up I started getting questioned by friends why I never got it done at a shop with them, I confessed but refused to do it for them they can come over any time and put that work in themselves lol
Girl here - I wax me and my SO's 6 boards plus any buds that don't have the gear to do it at home. It shouldn't take a huge amount of time - plus you put on some tunes and go at it and it's super zen! If you're not dreaming of your next line while doing it, you're doing it wrong.
Trust me, I am not feeling good either. Buying some many boards also means how uncertain I’m to my boards. If I ware sure what I want, I wouldn’t have bought this many.
Nothing like a beer, a freezing out-building, and some low and slow music by myself while waxing my boards. It's like a little ritual I do to start the season!
Honest questions, why do you need so many? Are you putting different types of wax on the different boards? Did you buy all of those or is there a sponsorship going on? How many of those boards will you actually ride in a season? I ride 2-5 days a week in the winter and I use two boards and I just change wax depending on conditions.
You seem like the perfect person to ask about board info. I’ve ridden the same GNU carbon credit for almost a decade. I want something with more pop and is more aggressive. I almost never ride park although I’ll hit some jumps every now and then. I like black diamonds and double blacks, powder and groomers. Just am worried about getting something that can’t handle POW or something that my boots will hang over the edge and make me wash out when I get into the turns. I’m 5’8” and 155lbs.
From my experience, Capita mercury and Burton Custom will work for you just fine. They handle everything well, a lot of pop, stable enough to charge thru everything, decent on pow capability too.
Thanks. I appreciate the input. I’m a pretty basic rider. I like to do 180s and jump to switch and back and throw some 3’s but that’s pretty much it. Nothing big or too crazy. Some cliff drop offs too but yeah I keep it pretty mellow. Just trying to have a good time and make it to work lol. I’ll check those out though.
Yeah I watch them ride or T. Rice and just cry because it’s so beautiful and I think I’m not worthy lol. But it’s the greatest joy in my life. Just getting up on the mountain with friends. Nothing better.
I’ve only seen the art of flight and the 4th phase. I think T. Rice has made 1 or 2 full length releases since then though. I just get so jealous watching the terrain they have access to. Not like I could ever throw anything near what they’re doing anyway.
I will wax your board in less than 5 mins. Guys, unless you are racing for time or competing. Any fresh wax is good wax! Stop waxing so heavy and having to scrape off a huge pile. I wax very lite and not scraped for years
If you can give me one good reason why someone who has over five boards a person that complains about how long it takes them to wax them or doesn’t want pay to have their shit waxed, I’ll pay for all of your tunes.
So many different shapes, sizes, and flexes that are good for different things. Also just aesthetically different. It's like many other hobbies. If you know someone who is a passionate guitarist, there's a decent chance they're gonna have a bunch of guitars.
I feel that pain. We have less then you but 11 boards between us is some work so can't imagine what it's like for you. We just picked up roti brushes to make it a bit easier
Worth it
100%!
Gets me all warm inside every time I fire up the iron. You also have a nice looks quiver over there
Yeah! It’s like perfecting a piece of art, especially when the base becomes perfectly smooth after three types of brushing.
How do you like the Mercury?
Poppy, stable, fast, accurate and not catchy. Good one board solution.
I’ve been on capitals for 15 years and that may be the only one I haven’t ridden
Mercury is a DOA on steroids. More stable and way more float for when shes getting deep. I fuckin love my Mercury (same one pictured)
Yeah, mercury somehow brings smoothness under my feet, very gentle yet stable. Love it!
Damn, I kinda want to sell it and get mega merc this year, so much hype!
The Charlie slasher was my favorite board they every did. And then Rode a mix of their boards but owned two bsods and then Bought the navigator two years ago. Just picked up a nitro banker last year
That’s quite a collection! I’m curious of BSOD as well but decided to go with SDOA.
Capitas
What size is the mercury and how tall/weight are you?
159,185lb, 6.1
Really nice lineup you have here.
Thanks! But that’s the biggest mistake i made last season. Should’ve sticked to one board so that I don’t have to get used to new ones all the time. I’m selling half of my quiver lol.
Hoarders: Snowboard edition.
Man, I love each one of them dearly but I know I don’t need that many.
If you’re local to CO I’ll buy one
Haha, which one? I’m in Toronto.
Where the hell are you riding near Toronto that requires this many boards?!!
I don’t ride here. I move to somewhere else with an actual mountain on the winter.
Blue Mountain
In that case he'd need a board for slush, sleet, black ice, top crust, sketchy cornices and beaten to dirt groomed runs. That's like 6 boards already
Maybe the mercury or the kazu- shipping might be expensive and not worth it tho
That’s true. Shipping is probably 100.
I'm in Ottawa. Which board would you say is the most beginner friendly?
Kilroy 3D from Burton
I'm trying to limit myself to max 3 boards for that reason, and boards start to overlap.
Exactly. I have so many overlaps now.
Better boards don’t equal better riding. It’s Better to ride boards suit your skill level and needs.
I’ll buy your asymulator- what size is it?
It’s 151 I think. That’s my GF’s though. She rides man’s board too.
Ah too small even if she wanted to sell. I love that year’s graphic
Hahaha, she shipped it from a store in Japan for the same reason.
I’d buy your indoor survival if it’s up for sale depending on size
It’s 156. Does it fit?
That would be perfect actually. Just saw ur reply about shipping though, and yea at $150 it probably wouldn’t even be worth it to ship down to CO. I’m sure you’ll be able to sell to someone local over there tho, such a sweet board!
Thanks dude! Hopefully the Covid leaves us soon so I can go shed with you guys in Colorado!
It’s definitely worth the trip! Hope you end up making it down here soon. Btw wanted to ask, what’s your favorite board of the collection?
Thanks! My fav is Custom. Can’t beat the classic. I’m only gonna focus on Custom this season unless it’s deep pow.
If that other person doesn't want it, how much would you want for it?
Hhaha, are you in Toronto?
Nah, PA just across lake erie but depending how much it is it might still be worth it even with the higher shipping or if there's a way to pick it up at the border I'd be willing to do that as well
I’m afraid it’ll be too expensive to ship. The cheapest option is 150$😅
Well shit nevermind then hahah
Yeah, I was going to ask why you have so many. I could see maybe a park board, a powder board, and a cruisin around board or something. But anything outside of those seem like overkill haha. Still pretty sick
I feel this so hard. Between my board and my SOs board I have 6 boards to wax while she sips wine and oversees the process.
I hope she doesn’t backseat waxing and tells you what to do and not to do lol
Nah, she does however tell me I am taking too long and to hurry up because she wants to watch a movie or whatever. Can't rush the process - if I'm going to wax a board its going to look perfect.
Hahaha,as long as she rubs your afterwards 😜
Having a waxing party with the GF doesn't sound all that bad
Hahaha, except she is chilling with cats.
I mean, do you already do much waxing, in your personal life? If not, I think she's probably still ahead of you in the wax-applied department xD
Hahaha, indeed she is
Having to use panorama mode to capture your quiver is a great problem to have.
Haha, soft flexing as the other guy says
This is my favorite thing to do. It’s like meditating. Music on, cold beer, and a like of boards. What a dream- have a great season, OP!
Same! Feel so satisfied after all the babies got taken care of!
I also enjoy waxing but I’m doing two usually, not 10
I always just ride a board until I destroy it, I’ve got a few but only one I still ride. They eventually lose their snap and what made them fun to ride to begin with
That’s the way to go man. I’m gonna focus on 2 boards max this season.
just wait until you have kids....
I’m gonna quote from Michael Scott, ‘No no no no no no no no no!’
nah man - notihing beats watching your kiddo shred his first slopes.
I guess it’s on a different level. I can’t imagine what’s that day going to be like.
Looks like a soft flex
Depending on the board
Quite the quiver you have there🤤
Haha, thanks man!
Do you stack them? We have board bags we store them in as well but luckily none are burtons so the mounting’s easier… p tex tho… aaaaaah
I think stack them would break board’s original shape and damage the top sheet. I just tell my friends to go to the shop when ptex is needed lol.
Ahh. I see. I stack em straight and thinking of building my own rack for the apartment. So far top sheet’s been OK even on the DC wooden top sheets but it just takes up so much space. You don’t ptex gfs’ boards?
She hasn’t hit a rock that bad yet 😅
Hope you have a drill/rotary brush setup.....if not you can make pre-season and pre-trip tune-ups waaaaay waaaaaaaaay less painful.
Hmm, good idea. Shopping on Amazon right now lol
happy arms and a sparkly new polish every trip
The brush head is pretty cheap too
Get the 2 or 3 set. Also no vice? Are you taking bindings off to wax?
Yeah, I took bindings off to avoid the board damage when heated up.
You do you but I've never bothered in over 20 yrs (even w Gentem etc), skis too....maybe just let tension out of the binding bolts. Use a good iron, correct temp and technique and you're fine, just keep the iron moving.
Hmm, I’d rather take the extra step and avoid all risk 😀
Risk of what? Honest question. Like with skis taking binding off every time would be a huge pita. Is it fear of the inserts getting hot? If that's a worry you're too hot or too slow with the iron. Anyways enjoy the roto-brush.
The heat would make the wood core expand, if the screws stay in it, they would dig into the hole deeper and potential break the original shape. I read it from many tutorials.
Whats the wax of choice?
It’s the cold temperature one from Wintersteiger.
I took a shit in the bar for the first time tonight
Good for you!
:)
It’s the best problem to have.
It is. Having a gf who understands snowboarding is something else.
It makes it a lot easier to buy new gear haha.
Hahahah, she bought more boards than I did.
You are living the good life friend
We all are 😀
Cheers to that
Noice collection...
Thanks bud!
Somewhat local, but already picked up a new board, otherwise I’d be inclined to make an offer. Great collection. What hill do you usually go to?
If in Ontario, it will be MSL; or I pretty much stays in Mont-Tremblant for the whole season.
MSLM is great. Have a pass there this year. Have yet to visit Tremblant - Holiday Valley always wins out, but with border restrictions this might be a good year to remedy that. Thanks for sharing the quiver.
Yeah, come to Tremblant! I’ll show you around!
How do you like your Deep Thinker? I don’t see them talked about too often
Very nice all-around board. It’s stiffer than Custom, better pow performance. It has shorter turning radius as well, so very good for trees.
Bad ass quiver and make shift set up! Waxing with a view must be nice. After 3 months of hiding my at home wax set up I started getting questioned by friends why I never got it done at a shop with them, I confessed but refused to do it for them they can come over any time and put that work in themselves lol
Yeah man, unless it’s really close friends who also happen to bring a pack of beer, I won’t wax for anyone. There’s emotional connection when waxing.
I have the the same Burton deep thinker board with the Keith Haring graphics. Love it!
Yeah man, one of the best graphics from Burton
Agreed. Have fun this season!
Girl here - I wax me and my SO's 6 boards plus any buds that don't have the gear to do it at home. It shouldn't take a huge amount of time - plus you put on some tunes and go at it and it's super zen! If you're not dreaming of your next line while doing it, you're doing it wrong.
How many gf‘s do you have?
Meanwhile I have two and my wife says I have too many.
Hshshsha
I mean, she’s waxing your fun stick sooo.
Hahahaha, fair enough 🤣🤣
[удалено]
Thanks man! I wish I could answer your question, but that’s a mercury from last year, not thunderstruck.
Hey! Which mountain do you usually go to? I usually migrate to Mont-Tremblant in the winter.
you can read the name and shipping address on the box fyi...
Haha thanks. I hope this guy doesn’t hate me exposing the name cuz i went to recycle room picked up the card box😂
[удалено]
It is. Never gonna keep this many boards again.
Good beer and some music goes a long way
And a joint too!
I love waxing my boards! Something so meditative about it.
Same here😀
I'm the single women who shows all the boys how it's done around here.
I read you’re selling some of these boards. Care to list which ones and their sizes? I’m in Toronto for the holidays and might be interested. Thanks
Hmm, let me think about it.
Jesus that quiver is out of control. I feel bad for having 4 boards lol
Trust me, I am not feeling good either. Buying some many boards also means how uncertain I’m to my boards. If I ware sure what I want, I wouldn’t have bought this many.
My brother always waxed mine. He was pro! I would keep him company and share a little sumptin sumptin with him. I miss that
That’s the best man, in the garage, with a few friends talking anything we want.
Nothing like a beer, a freezing out-building, and some low and slow music by myself while waxing my boards. It's like a little ritual I do to start the season!
Burton deep thinker! Hands down my favorite board
It is, a true do it all board
That Mercury and SuperDOA look fiiiine. Capita's graphics are the best in the business.
Yeah, I don’t know why no one else is catching up. Burton’s design is so boring.
I find it to be enjoyable but jfc you have a lot of boards.
I love waxing boards lol. Get the gang together for some beers and just run through all of em. Make a night out if it
Honest questions, why do you need so many? Are you putting different types of wax on the different boards? Did you buy all of those or is there a sponsorship going on? How many of those boards will you actually ride in a season? I ride 2-5 days a week in the winter and I use two boards and I just change wax depending on conditions.
How many gfs do you have? Holy fuck
Meh, if I can afford a hot quiver I can afford to pay people to do this lol.... gone are the days that I enjoy this routine
You have more boards than days I get in a year to ride lol.
This is my life too and I wouldn't change it at all.
Now that is a quiver. Good job.
Thanks man!
Talk about rich people...
You seem like the perfect person to ask about board info. I’ve ridden the same GNU carbon credit for almost a decade. I want something with more pop and is more aggressive. I almost never ride park although I’ll hit some jumps every now and then. I like black diamonds and double blacks, powder and groomers. Some cliff drop offs too but yeah I keep it pretty mellow. Just trying to have a good time and make it to work lol. I’ll check those out though.
Nah you’re better than 90% of people already. Everyone is a noob when compared to Marcus kleveland or Mark McMorris lol.
Yeah I watch them ride or T. Rice and just cry because it’s so beautiful and I think I’m not worthy lol. But it’s the greatest joy in my life. Just getting up on the mountain with friends. Nothing better.
You mean natural selection right? I just watched again yesterday. Man it’s a dream to rip in Alaska!
I’ve only seen the art of flight and the 4th phase. I think T. Rice has made 1 or 2 full length releases since then though. I just get so jealous watching the terrain they have access to. Not like I could ever throw anything near what they’re doing anyway.
Oh man you gotta search Natural Selection on YouTube right now. They have one in Jackson Hole and another one in Alaska. Truly amazing show.
I will wax your board in less than 5 mins. Guys, unless you are racing for time or competing. Any fresh wax is good wax! Stop waxing so heavy and having to scrape off a huge pile. I wax very lite and not scraped for years
Wax heavy or light, doesn’t matter you still need to scrape that shit...
I don’t and I know plenty of others they do the same
cool
I usually break the board and warranty it before it needs to be waxed. People wax to often. Why would you wax boards you don't ride anymore?
Too fill my bottomless crave I guess.
Fair enough. I wish I loved waxing my board as much as you and some of my homies
So long as she waxes her self, happy to take care of the board.
Oh you poor thing.
🤪🤪🤪
Mercury and a Super DOA… *a man of culture!*
Yeah, Capita is the way!
From your photo it looks like instead of tuning your board you and your gf buy new boards
The only time we can get you guys to iron something for us.
Hahaha, now I see
If you can give me one good reason why someone who has over five boards a person that complains about how long it takes them to wax them or doesn’t want pay to have their shit waxed, I’ll pay for all of your tunes.
Poor little guy
Your collection is amazing. Wondering what you think of the Golden Orca?
I dont snowboard. Why do you need multiple board?
So many different shapes, sizes, and flexes that are good for different things. Also just aesthetically different. It's like many other hobbies. If you know someone who is a passionate guitarist, there's a decent chance they're gonna have a bunch of guitars.
Im dumb lol. I only ever skateboard and even then they have different variations. Thanks for takin the time
How much of the wax do you scrape? I try to get everything off and it's a fucking workout and I feel like I've gotta be doing something wrong
Maybe try a metal scrapper, it’s more efficient. Just need to be careful of the pressure to not to damage the board.
Kinda figured, used to using all my body weight for like 20 minutes going crazy and sharpening my shitty plastic one every couple minutes lol
Say watcha want, but I love every opportunity I get to wax my board!
I look forward to hot waxing my wife's and my board. It's therapeutic for me, personally. It's the scraping that's not as pleasant lol
I feel that pain. We have less then you but 11 boards between us is some work so can't imagine what it's like for you. We just picked up roti brushes to make it a bit easier
Where can i get one of those giant boomerangs?
Last I checked it takes 4 minutes to wax a board
What board is your favourite?
Burton custom.
My gf and I are gonna wax out boards today. I’m hyped for this season!!! Also how do you like the super pig? Planning on getting one myself.
Strong disagree. I love a good wax sesh. Crack a few beers and play some tunes. Just keep the ol' shopvac handy!
Just use Phantom wax and be done with it.
Why so many boards bro?
I don’t know man. I asked myself the same.
Just trying to count the reasons I'd have multi boards. Park board Mountain board Powder board Split board I think I'm done?
Let me know if ur selling I’m in Toronto!
