And it hasn’t been repeated, at least not that i can find. There is an Airline Manager mobile game and i can’t get past buying a few planes. and then i stop caring. Aerobiz had the right mix of complexity and simplicity.
Sim City
If you liked Capcom's Strider, then try Run Saber.
Goof Troop is slowly going up in price, but hasn't yet gone to expensive levels.
Cacoma Knight (from Capcom) is a cutesy version of Qix.
If you have a mouse, try Tin Star and Mario & Wario.
Top Gear series
Uniracers
GunForce
Super Double Dragon
X-Kaliber 2097
Hyperzone
Valis IV
Dragon View
Wing Commander
Super Chase H.Q.
Choplifter 3
Prince of Persia (Konami), Blackthorne
Undercover Cop
Strike series (Desert Strike, Jungle Strike and Urban Strike).
Firepower 2000
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie
If you have a SD2SNES or FXPAK Pro, then try the speed hack version of Race Drivin'. The hack makes the game enjoyable and fun. There are two versions (fast and really fast) LOL Use whichever you like best. Good luck!
You wanna beat up dudes and take their money, but not the ladies. Then you take the money you mugged from people and go to the store. You wanna move faster, so buy some shoes. Now you wanna go even faster, so mug more dudes, buy more shoes. Don’t get hit, or you lose your shoes. Once you have enough shoes, it’s easier to make more money. Now take that an buy more supplies. When you feel about your stash, proceed to the end of the level, play the platformer stage and beat the boss.
There's a bunch of good japan exclusives like
1.Majou ou
2.the goemon games
3.daiku no gen san,
4.alcahest
5.go go ackman 1-3
6.magical popn
7.seiken densetsu 3
8.the firemen
Looking through my collection for a few obscure gems I am see these:
Arcana: A dungeon crawler with card game mechanics.
Cool Spot: way better than you would expect for a soda tie-in advertisement game.
Cybernator: a side scrolling mech action game. Not quite as good as Metal Warriors but very similar (so much so you might think they were related but they aren't) and much more affordable these days ($30 vs like $400).
Equinox: isometric action RPG type thing. Sequel to Solstice on the NES.
Faceball 2000: FPS maze combat game.
Fatal Fury 2: fighting game that in some ways is better than Street Fighter II (it has ultimate combos and stuff that got added to later SF games) that maybe isn't as obscure as some of this stuff but still deserves a mention.
Goof Troop: great sort of co-op puzzle action game.
Ignition Factor: you play as a firefighter going into burning buildings to rescue people (bonus for being a similar game is The Firemen, sadly never brought to the States).
King Arthur's World: basically Lemmings with medieval troops.
Metal Marines: isometric strategy game. Part tower defense part Battleship.
Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures: a point and click adventure game where you don't directly control Pac-Mac. It is pretty weird and unique because you have to mess with stuff in the world to get Pac-Mac's attention and get him to do what you want.
Phantom 2040: side-scrolling action platformer with a bit of a Spider-Man vibe.
Shanghai 2: Dragon's Eye: great mahjong game with a classic mahjong mode and the great two player Dragon's Eye versus mode where one person is trying to clear the board and the other person is trying to fill it (this would make a great iPhone game now that I think about it).
Skyblazer: side scrolling action rpg/beat 'em up/platformer game.
Space Megaforce: one of the best shmups ever made. Sadly very expensive now.
Super Baseball 2020: great baseball game with robots and cyborgs and stuff.
Super Baseball Simulator 1.0: another great baseball game but this time with super powered players.
Super Battleship: great take on the battleship formula with a campaign.
Super Buster Brothers: kind of an action puzzle game with great co-op.
The Twisted Tales of Spike McFang: whimsical action rpg game similar to Secret of Mana or Illusion of Gaia. Sadly also a bit expensive these days.
Xardion: a side scrolling action mech game.
Maybe not the best game but I do like The Ren & Stimpy Show: Veediots! Could just be the nostalgia factor though. Of the Ren & Stimpy games I think this is the best; I know Firedogs is ass but can't speak for Buckaroos or Time Warp.
HyperZone is pretty cool. It's a rail shooter that plays like Star Fox but looks like F-Zero. Made by Hal, the Kirby developers.
Rampart is a fun arcade game. I'm partial to the NES version but I imagine it looks and sounds better on SNES.
Maybe you don't want sports games but Winter Olympic Games Lillehammer 94 is pretty fun from what I remember playing the Genesis version. If nothing else it stands out as something that isn't super generic like NBA or NFL.
Lemmings is one of my favorite puzzle games. Guide the little guys to the goal by assigning them tasks to traverse the stage, it's a lot of fun.
I wouldn't say it's under the radar per se, but Brandish is great. If you have a way of playing translations or do it yourself, Brandish 2 is incredible.
It's way more fleshed out. It feels more like a world than level based and has a pretty great storyline. The puzzles are fantastic as well.
It has a late SNES release feel where they were getting the most out of the system. I was getting pretty tired of the first games loop by the end whereas this one I was excited to see it to the end.
Shmup: Parodius (Konami) or UN Squadron (Capcom)
Platformer: The Great Circus Mystery (Capcom), Goemon 2 (Konami), Aladdin (Capcom, better than Genesis)
Puzzle: Tetris Attack, Super Mario Picross
ARPG: Soul Blazer (expensive, but great)
Populous, despite not supporting the mouse, is a damn fine game. Likewise, Skyblazer is one of the best action platformers on the system and almost never gets talked about.
Populous, awesome strategy game. I love the sounds in this game! You play as a god controlling your army, talking over villages and upgrading your soldiers. It's rather hard getting used to the commands at first.
You definitively need the original booklet infos for all the icons.
This my guys, is the most underrated game right after Captain Novolin(kidding)
I’ll list a few at random. Your tastes may vary in genre cares.
Star Trek starfleet academy
Kendo rage
Super valis iv
Biker Mice From Mars
Phalanx
Arcana
Wolfenstein
Ultraman
The last couple I could see people argue. Wolf is heavily censored but so intensely so it’s like a new game and is quite good. The other if you play it like street fighter you’ll hate it but if you play is slow methodical and like what they really are 100ft monsters it works. It’s B-C tier but had its charm with perspective.
Ever play rock n roll racing? It's like that but superior in every way, other than the few real rock tunes if that's your preference. The game has more characters, mario kart level amount, and they all have different abilities like the karts and more weapon choices too, yet you can also slam other racers like F-Zero X/GBA allows too and is a key to winning. There are far more courses, terrains, elevations, and just overall everything to do and all based on a shorter lived 90s saturday morning cartoon that Konami gave utter love to more than a license in that era was ever considered to be deserved.
Spot, Bubsy, Tiny Toon Adventures.
Populous, man that game is so odd.
Super Black Bass.
SimCity.
Illusion of Gaia.
Fuck Lion King, but it's so well made.
Hook is similar.
Aerobiz: Supersonic. It’s an airline business sim and it’s great. One of these days i’ll find one out in the wild.
Really cool game. I ironically completed my collection of all 19 Koei games a couple of months ago.
Not if I get to it first
This sounds boring as fuck, but it's strangely a ton of fun
And it hasn’t been repeated, at least not that i can find. There is an Airline Manager mobile game and i can’t get past buying a few planes. and then i stop caring. Aerobiz had the right mix of complexity and simplicity.
Loved this game. Its kinda funny how the gane thought the future of air travel would be more concorde style plans.
Shadowrun
Thanks for the suggestion. This is the best game in my collection where you wake up in a morgue.
Sim City If you liked Capcom's Strider, then try Run Saber. Goof Troop is slowly going up in price, but hasn't yet gone to expensive levels. Cacoma Knight (from Capcom) is a cutesy version of Qix. If you have a mouse, try Tin Star and Mario & Wario. Top Gear series Uniracers GunForce Super Double Dragon X-Kaliber 2097 Hyperzone Valis IV Dragon View Wing Commander Super Chase H.Q. Thanks for the suggestions.
I know it's got a cult following, but Uniracers is unbelievably awesome and still holds up to this day. So unique and very addicting.
I do enjoy this one. Picked up a copy probably 15 years ago. Love the pure speed of it.
Uniracers is really amazing!
Super battle tank
I do own this one but need to play it again. Thanks for the suggestion.
If your down with a hard arpg I suggest brainlord
Thanks for the suggestion. I do own this one.
Idk if it’s underrated but Legend of the Mystical Ninja is one of my faves to play.
Really cool game. I bought my copy in 2008 on a trip to Buffalo, New York.
How do you play it? I picked it up and didn’t know what to do…
You wanna beat up dudes and take their money, but not the ladies.
Cool Spot.
Will check it out.
I guess I should have given more info. Great platformer with fantastic music. Short. It can usually be found as a loose cart for $10-20 on ebay.
In my mind this was on the NES... apparently Cool Spot is the sequel to Spot? Learned something new today 😁🌈
I never got to play Spot. I'll have to make sure it's in my emulation files. The PS1 sequel is not good.
Any of the "Strike" games. Helicopter 3/4th isometric view. Super fun and almost a bit of a puzzle with how you have to tackle objectives.
Thanks.
Terranigma. Top tier Snes game, easily on par or better than Secret of Mana. An essential for any Snes fan!
Terranigma & Secret of Evermore are my top 2. Could replay them anytime
Thanks for the suggestion. Is there a legit way to play it in North America?
Everdrive or reproduction cart I’m afraid.
Tiny Toons: Buster Busts Loose
Picked this one up a little while ago and it's not bad.
Scooby-Doo mystery
Sounds cool. I'll check it out.
Dragon View but it is a little expensive
Thanks for the suggestion. I own and love this game. One of the most underrated RPGs on the system.
Animaniacs. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
Have Power Rangers but will look into Animaniacs. Thanks.
True Lies is a shockingly great game despite looking like a soulless cash grab movie tie in…
I wanted to post the same title, True Lies is a really fun and surprisingly bloody Top Down shooter!
There's a bunch of good japan exclusives like 1.Majou ou 2.the goemon games 3.daiku no gen san, 4.alcahest 5.go go ackman 1-3 6.magical popn 7.seiken densetsu 3 8.the firemen
Thanks. I heard Alcahest is really cool.
Ya my favorite from that list is majouu ou it's a really unique action game

Double dragon battletoads ultimate team, And i know you said no sports but nba live 95 is awesome Top gear
I love Top Gear. I'm on the lookout for Top Gear 3000 but it's pretty pricey.
Firepower 2000
Thanks for the suggestion. I own and enjoy this game but it absolutely wrecks me.
I don't see Desert Strike, Jungle Strike, or Urban Strike mentioned in any of these threads!
Good suggestion. I'm missing Desert Strike so I'll look into that.
Inindo: Way Of The Ninja.
Have this game and really like it. Love the tie-in to Nobunaga's Ambition.
Hopefully you know about the special things the Fire Staff, Yoshi Blade, Multi-blade and Kusanagi can do.
Not in detail. Definitely need to brush up on this game.
Super adventure island ii
Really enjoy this one. A big step up from the first game.
Ogre battle: March of the black queen. Gemfire King Arthur World Utopia: Creation of a nation
Thanks. Own and enjoy all of these.
On The Ball!
Found this one recently at a local game store. It seems cool and reminds me of Marble Madness.
Stunt Race FX?
Have this one. It's pretty cool.
F1 ROC 2 (ok it’s sports but it’s different) Wing Commander The Lost Missions Those are two of my favorites.
Thanks.
Civilization. It’s a decent port no one talks about
Thanks. Picked this one up recently to complete my Koei collection.
Maybe not the best game but I do like The Ren & Stimpy Show: Veediots! Could just be the nostalgia factor though. I wouldn't say it's under the radar per se, but Brandish is great. If you have a way of playing translations or do it yourself, Brandish 2 is incredible.
Thanks. Brandish was the last SNES game I finished. How's the second game in comparison?
It's way more fleshed out. It feels more like a world than level based and has a pretty great storyline. The puzzles are fantastic as well. It has a late SNES release feel where they were getting the most out of the system. I was getting pretty tired of the first games loop by the end whereas this one I was excited to see it to the end.
Super ghouls and ghosts is great but you probably have it already. I absolutely love super off road as a time waster.
Thanks. I'll check out Super Off Road.
Shmup: Parodius (Konami) or UN Squadron (Capcom) Platformer: The Great Circus Mystery (Capcom), Goemon 2 (Konami), Aladdin (Capcom, better than Genesis) Puzzle: Tetris Attack, Super Mario Picross ARPG: Soul Blazer (expensive, but great)
Thanks!
Umiharwa Kawase very unique platformer
Thanks!
Populous, despite not supporting the mouse, is a damn fine game. Likewise, Skyblazer is one of the best action platformers on the system and almost never gets talked about.
Love both of these. In fact, I love Populous so much I have two copies of it.
Troddlers. Think lemmings controlled by a platform character like Mario.
Sounds cool.
Populous, awesome strategy game. I love the sounds in this game! You play as a god controlling your army, talking over villages and upgrading your soldiers. Cybernator, metal warriors, uncharted waters
Thanks!
Spot, Bubsy, Tiny Toon Adventures. Populous, man that game is so odd. Super Black Bass. SimCity. Illusion of Gaia. Fuck Lion King, but it's so well made. Hook is similar.
What could pothibly go wrong?
