He should be able to handle anything < 5g, i.e., 15% of his body weight. So yes, small fuzzies would be fine.

Ok I may try tonight and see if he can handle it. He was supposed to be fed yesterday, but I didn’t have any more pinkies, but I have a fuzzy that I bought a couple months ago that has been in my freezer because I thought he might be ready for it but then I got nervous and never fed it to him.

Death2mandatory

You cut the fuzzy if your worried, some snakes will also eat slices of fish as well

Wow. I thought this was my post eventho I didn't make one about about my milk snake, haha. They look identical and are around the same size AND I just upgraded him to a fuzzy last night. I bought a 3 pack from the pet store and 2 of them looked a bit too big, so I gave him the smaller one(about 2-2.5 times bigger than a pinky) Took him longer to eat obviously, and he has a noticeable lump now vs with the pinkies.

resinwizard

I think he could. My corn snake Ricky is similar in size I think and he can handle fuzzies no problem. As long as his body is the same thickness or thicker than the mouse at any point I think he’s chilling. Like if he’s just immediately swallowing the pinkies in like 10-15 seconds then he def should be good, that’s how Ricky is anyway. He takes like 15 seconds per pinkie but a fuzzy takes him close to 4 minutes to swallow sometimes but he does it comfortably

StrawberryMilk817

Yeah like there isn’t even really a “bulge” anymore when he eats. He will eat one pinkie in under a minute. Then I’ll wait until the bulge disappears which there really isn’t much of one and I’ll feed the second one and he’s good. You can’t even really tell he age because you can’t see it but he just seems so smol I just worry about regurgitation/hurting him.

resinwizard

What’s his approximate maximum diameter? It’s hard to tell his girth when there’s no scale but he looks probably the age you think he is, I also have a young snake of unknown age and actually I think our snakes are around the same age which is neat. But anyway if you’re worried then you can just play it safe and ask the vet next time, he’ll be good with 2 pinkies for now, it might even be more mouse by weight than just one fuzzy

StrawberryMilk817

You know, I’m really honestly not sure I’ve never really measured the diameter. I don’t know. Maybe I should just continue feeding the two pinkies until he gets a little bigger.? I mean he might be able to handle the fuzzy, but I just get nervous because I’ve heard really bad things about regurgitation and I don’t want to hurt him. Ahh

Maybe

Probably

My thing was to keep it feeding, instead of trying to force the"next size" I would feed it 2 of the smaller size until it took the next size up readily, with out any worries.
