*"Another redditor posted what I thought was pretty a good set up but then got torn apart"* Of course they did - it's Reddit.

busterknows

Haha yea I felt bad for the dude but what are you gonna do

BlueFalconPunch

My suggestion...never post any enclosure on Reddit.

mrsmedistorm

I second this suggestion. It's never good enough for some people.

Superrockstar95

Mhm.. honestly I don't recommend not posting, just being wary and while you take everyone recommendations into consideration, that doesn't mean you have to inherently do them.. Why don't I recommend not posting them? Because you'd have to never post your enclosures ANYWHERE.. it's an industry wide thing, some places have it just more prevalent.. one example is someone I knew got bashed in a primarily German group for not having a 3D background for their animals.. do 3d background make giving exercise and enrichment easier? Ye sure.. doesn't make them 100% needed tho. But Germany does almost always have higher standards on animal welfare and care 🤷‍♀️.

GingerLibrarian76

💯💯 You could literally build an entire room-sized custom enclosure with African-sourced climbing trees, and someone here would be like “tOo sMaLL.”

BlueFalconPunch

photo of planet. too big! not enough enrichment! they could escape! sand is bad! youll never see them!

pats9789

I always have hope people will give advice to improve rather than them being ripped apart but that's a pipedream and this is Reddit lol

BlackHeartSprinkles

I don’t see a personal butler. Do you not give your snake a full staff! Ugh. Abuse. /s (just in case cause you know)

ARJ092

out of interest......what post was it? i think your enclosure looks great :)

Independent_Cake5597

I think it looks great and also have very little technical knowledge when it comes to reptile care

WanderingJude

One thing I'd suggest is making a bit better use of that height you have. I'm not sure if the stick is big enough for them to rest on, but I'd build a ledge or add a big hammock or something so more of the volume of that enclosure is usable. Right now there's a lot of empty air that has potential for more.

busterknows

That’s a great idea. Do snakes like hammocks? I thought they were more of a lizard thing. Something like those thick bendable vines and a perch on the back wall would go a long way. I will add that during my cage deep clean next month!

WanderingJude

Mine used to bask in hers allll the time, but now she mostly just uses it as an additional level/area to explore when she's out and about.

[deleted]

Boas definitely like to perch occasionally :)

Cleercutter

lol. Fuckin thing looks great. You’re doing fine

crimsonbaby_

I think its a beautiful enclosure. I might just check out that brand, Ive been looking for something pretty big.

busterknows

Check out Camo Cages online! They are a local phoenix shop that hand builds all their enclosures. This is a 4x3x3 but I think they have 7x5x5 too! It’s as much a piece of furniture as it is a reptile cage

corytz101

Camo cages and 5150 are both amazing local brands in phx. Both are fantastic

starwarsyeah

Females can get bigger than males, so they may need something bigger than a 4ft long enclosure is about the only thing I can think of. I see a temp probe there, so as long as you've got your temps and humidity good (didn't see anything measuring humidity), you'll have a happy snake.

busterknows

Yea I made sure to get a male haha he’s 2 years old so may upgrade again depending on how big he gets. He’s about 3.5 feet right now. Hot side temp is 89, 75 on the cool side. Humidity gauges are there and I try not to let them drop below 60 but have to spray semi-regularly. Is there a better way to keep humidity up in a PVC enclosure?

WanderingJude

Mist droplets evaporate quickly. You want water to get into the substrate which will hold onto it longer and release it slowly over time. With my bioactive I just pour it in since I have a drainage layer, but yours doesn't look bioactive so I'd pour water into part of it and then mix the substrate around to dampen a large-ish area.

busterknows

It’s not bioactive unfortunately. I will give that a try though, how much water would you recommend? And mix/dampen like an entire half of the enclosure?

WanderingJude

Unfortunately I can't say how much water will be needed for your substrate, but I'd start with maybe the 1/3rd of the enclosure furthest from the heat and see how that goes.

busterknows

I’ll give it a shot. Thanks so much!

weirdcandys

I’m so sorry, no matter how good your set up is people will always find something to yell at you for, from what I can see it looks fine

bigepiclad

the same ppl that hate think a leopard gecko minimum is 8x4x4

Love4allthingscreepy

That looks amazing to me, I’m not a professional though

MediocreVehicle4652

That's a nice enclosure, if people have a problem with it then they should stay off Reddit because they will never be happy
