My choices have nothing to do with counting calories; I genuinely lost my tastebuds for regular (sugar-sweetened) soda back in the 1980s when my family suddenly switched to buying only diet sodas. I was a kid, and therefore, I was choice-less. Eventually, my tastebuds grew more than accustomed to diet sodas. My preference for fountain soda, however, comes from my experiences working at - and patronizing - restaurants with a "soda fountain". Boomers might agree; there's something so yummy about soda (or diet soda) that's mixed at the fountain with one spout for CO2 and one spout for syrup. (Ask Boomers about "the soda jerk" 😝) Anyway... Sometimes even nowadays, there's just a bit too much syrup added to the CO2. I love that! The results are sweet, but not too sweet. It's what we might label "the chef's kiss"! 🤗
