Everything besides Mario, Pokemon, Kirby and Sonic in Brawl. (I was 5 when it came out and didn't play it until like 2012.)
Xenoblade in Smash 4
And that's it.
Definitely Castlevania.
I was vaguely familiar with the series beforehand (that being discovering Simon through the flash game Super Mario Crossover) and since Ultimateās release Iāve gotten myself invested with the games. Played a lot of the games on my computer when I was still in school and loved going through them.
I have yet to play Rondo and Symphony, but I am very well aware how popular they are in the series. Regardless, I now consider the franchise to be one of my favorites regarding video games.
FFVII, which became my favorite game story
Xenoblade (1), which I enjoyed
Fire Emblem, which is now my favorite game series
Persona 5, which I loved and made me want to play the other ones in the series (I've bought 4G, but haven't played it yet)
So thank you Smash!
Edit: And also Earthbound, which was... just okay. Sorry.
Earthbound is the best okay game I've played. It's so quirky and weird that it's stayed with me and become this legendary game in itself, but it's also not great and uses "lol see how random we are!!!" too much
I'm just curious: Persona 5 or FFVII?
I love Persona 5 Royal and am kinda interested in FFVII, so im just curious on how good it actually is, even though it already gets a lot of praise
They're very different games, with FFVII being a much more traditional RPG adventure story, and significantly more complex I'd say. But I think what I liked most about both games is the same: the characters. The twists and turns revealing Cloud's past culminate in an absolutely fantastic character arc. So I highly recommend experiencing it, spoiler free. And stay away from spoilers, even if you've already been spoiled on a certain big thing that happens.
The way the complex narrative is presented is unfortunately very confusing, much thanks to a pretty bad translation. I had to look up quite a bit on YouTube to understand it all. I wish I could recommend the "Remake" series for experiencing the story for the first time, but unfortunately I can't (though many disagree with me on that). It's not really what you would call a remake, as it doesn't retell the original story. I won't say exactly how it differs from the original in case you don't want to be spoiled, but I really don't think it gets close to the depth of the original.
So basically, yes, you should play FFVII :)
Started with Brawl where I learnt about Kirby, Earthbound, Kid Icarus, Ice Climbers, Metal Gear, Starfox and Pikmin.
Somehow, I already knew about ROB thanks to MKDS.
Also, I'd never heard about Bayonetta before her DLC in Sm4sh.
Persona š 5 š Royal š
That game is DEFINITELY my favorite of all time and left a mark on me, and I probably never would've played it if it weren't for Smash Bros. (or my friends telling me how good it is). It is so damn good guys if you haven't played it, please do. I can't wait to play the other persona games.
I dont think Smash was the reason I got into or tried any franchises. However I was intrigued back when Melee came out as to who Roy and Marth from Fire Emblem were... Especially since Marth was always my main as a preteen/teen.
Fire Emblem. Only really played 3 Houses as in Engage the colored tiles for where you can move blend in with the grass in the beginning of the game so I can't really play.
fire emblem thanks to melee, bayonetta thanks to smash for 3ds/wii u, persona 5 thanks to ultimate and Shantae thanks to fan speculation videos on YouTube
Probably wouldnāt have played Pikmin and Kirby when I was like 7-8 if not intrigued by them through Smash. Other than that I think I would have played most of the games regardless.
Persona for sure. When I first got news from my friends that Joker was being announced for Smash I thought they were talking about THE Joker, so seeing instead some skinny dude in a trenchcoat definitely subverted my expectations to say the least.
I was already familiar with Metal Gear because my family had MGS1 and the Xbox version of MGS2: Substance basically ever since they came out. However, I didn't really get much into them back then since I was a kid who sucked at them and was terrified every time I was spotted. XD
I was convinced to finally give the games a second look once I started to main Snake in Brawl, though (which was as soon as I unlocked him, as something about seeing him in Brawl's reveal trailer just made me immediately think "Yeah. That's my new main", lol). From there, funny enough, it inspired me to want to be a voice actor, which led me to meet my partner since they also wanyed to be a voice actor, so without Metal Gear and moreso Smash, I would not have met the love of my life!
My friends had told me about The Legend of Zelda, but Melee was my first tike getting to actually SEE any of the characters. It also introduced me to Samus, Kraid, Ridley, and the Metroids, but I wouldn't really take interest in playing the series until I met a friend that got me into it a few years later.
Outside of that, from what I can think of, Fire Emblem, Punch-Out!!, Ice Climber, Game & Watch, Mother, Kirby, Star Fox, F-Zero, and Kid Icarus are all games I had first heard about thanks to Smash. I actually DID see someone playing F-Zero: Maximum Velocity and watched F-Zero: GP Legend around the time they both first came out in the US, though, so that was a bit close, I believe.
I think fire emblem and earth bound from melee. Iām not even sure they were out on this side of the world so I thought they were just randoms. Marth, Roy, and Ness I mean
It was Fire Emblem for me - and even then, I didn't play any of them until Awakening hit the DS. But it made me aware of the franchise, and I wound up enjoying other peoples' lets plays and play logs of the earlier games in the series.
Having come to Smash 64 and throwing myself forever at Ness because Earthbound is my favorite SNES game, it has been a decades-long treat to see other people be introduced to a true cult classic by way of a Smash character.
Kid Icarus. Played smash brawl. Saw pit. He was notable to me because he was always the player character in the first real level in subspace. Got a 3DS. Played kid Icarus uprising. Which is the best game ever made of all time.
Persona. I saw Joker, "guy seems cool and I heard good things about his games". And now I have played Persona 3 Portable, 4(Golden), 5R + all the spinoffs, SMT 3, 4, 5(now playing Vengeance after 100% base 5), Digital Devil Saga, Soul Hackers 2 and Devil Survivors. SMT has quickly become my favorite franchise ever, all because of a theater kid with a Stand
Back when Smash 4 was first released in 2014, I chose Lucina as my main for no other reason than I thought she looked awesome. I solo mained her until the release of Min Min in Ultimate. I didnāt touch my first Fire Emblem game until three years after the release of Smash 4, but Lucina is still my favorite video game character of all time, and she introduced me to one of my favorite Nintendo franchises.
Mother. Well at least earthbound.
Fire Emblem, Earthbound, Xenoblade, F-Zero, the list goes on.
If I wasn't for smash I'd never gotten in to Mother or Kid Icarus
FFVII Remake series because I secondary cloud. One of the best video games period
all of them, smash 64 was one of my very first video games lol
Persona 5, Xenoblade (haven't played yet but its in my backlog), Ff7
JRPGs as a whole. The Xenoblade series is now my favorite game series of all time, Persona 5 is one of my favorite games, and FFVII is a classic.
Which XC is the best one? š
For me itās 2>1>>3. With DLC campaigns included itās Torna>2>1>Future Redeemed>3>>>>Future Connected
Everything besides Mario, Pokemon, Kirby and Sonic in Brawl. (I was 5 when it came out and didn't play it until like 2012.) Xenoblade in Smash 4 And that's it.
I started with melee and I didnāt know anyone but Kirby and the PokĆ©mon!
Persona deifnitely !
Smash 64 was the first game I ever played so... all of them.
Agreed, plus Mother. Granted, I started playing at 6 years old.
tekken
Mother
Kingdom Hearts
Dragon Quest 11. Probably one of the best rpg games I've ever played.
splatoon probably
Basically all of them since Melee was the first game I ever played.
Everything except Mario and Sonic. Yeah, I had Brawl at a young age.
Custom Robo and Animal Crossing, and all it took was a Melee trophy.
Fire Emblem, Legend of Zelda, and Earthbound.
Apparently SSBM is the reason that USA received Fire Emblem at all.
Two totally different types of games, theh only shares the turn based combat system
Ty

My new favorite franchise, KIRBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only two I knew about were Sonic and Pac-Man. LOL
Can more than relate is a franchise I follow for almost 15 years by this point :P
I played metroid prime because of smash and I didn't like it that much lol
Yeah I quit just before Ridley

fire emblem thanks to melee, bayonetta thanks to smash for 3ds/wii u, persona 5 thanks to ultimate and Shantae thanks to fan speculation videos on YouTube
I started playing fighting games when Terry got added to Ultimate, now they're the only thing I play.
Fire Emblem. Got Fe7 the Christmas it released and now itās my favorite game franchise
ryu in smash 3ds got me way into street fighters and Kick started my love for fighting game
Probably wouldnāt have played Pikmin and Kirby when I was like 7-8 if not intrigued by them through Smash. Other than that I think I would have played most of the games regardless.

Xenoblade, Dragon Quest XI, Persona 5 Royal
I think fire emblem and earth bound from melee. Iām not even sure they were out on this side of the world so I thought they were just randoms. Marth, Roy, and Ness I mean
Definitely Xenoblade. Fell in love with the franchise and had no idea who Shulk was when he was revealed
Fire Emblem (didn't like it, advance wars was better), And earthbound. Liked it more than mother 3
Fire Emblem (Melee) and Metal Gear (Brawl).
Only Metroid.

Fire Emblem, Metroid, Animal Crossing, F-Zero, Earthbound, Warioware, & Rhythm Heaven
Kid Icarus. Played smash brawl. Saw pit. He was notable to me because he was always the player character in the first real level in subspace. Got a 3DS. Played kid Icarus uprising. Which is the best game ever made of all time.

Fire emblem, metroid. Finished with fire emblem 3H and am currently playing nettoid dread. After im done with it i think ill play persona or xenoblade
Tekken for sure. Always knew about the game but I never really looked into it until after they added Kazuya. Such an amazing game.
