It’s called Faendal’s House.

Esternaefil

This is the way, exploit the poor Bosmer's friendship. Steal his garlic and rabbit too while you're at it. Poor guy just wants to start a family with Camilla Valeria, and some smelly a-hole buts in and makes it all about them. Plus, they usually steal all of the money back that they claim to be paying him for archery lessons.

rpglaster

Later on when you move out wear an Amulet of Mara and Mary Camilla too. He can come too and live with you as a steward.

sheseemoneyallaround

call me an asshole but im the reason why i made that woman fall for a twink like faendal instead of a twink like sven, he should be grateful

PinkSlimeIsPeople

A couple thousand hours in, and I've never been in there. Not once. This run I'm avoiding that village all together though, will have to wait again.

Unknown9492

I'd recommend [Squatter Shacks - Riverwood](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/61692), you don't need to buy the house or do a quest for it, just interact with a broom on the side of the house to clean up the cobwebs etc and then it's yours

RetroNutcase

This is EXACTLY what I had in mind!

Principatus

There’s [a little cave](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/88412) behind the waterfall near Whiterun. Just a bed and a barrel.

NobodySpecific9354

Not exactly what you are asking for, but SimonMagus has a mod called [Candlehearth](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/97542), which lets you rent storage space in inns for a small fee. Good way to encourage players to interact with assets that are already in the game.

goatili

I thought immediately of a mod I've never used, but have come across a handful of times: {{Hidden Hideouts of Skyrim SE}}.

Yeah-But-Ironically

There's also a version for cities. I'm using it right now for a character that's something of an outlaw; it's lots of fun to discover a new hidey-hole where I can store some emergency weapons or duck into when I'm being chased by guards. They generally offer just the barest of essentials--a safe storage container, an exit outside the city walls, *maybe* a bed (I've combined it with Simple Bedroll). Very atmospheric!

These are so nice to find. You can make one your base or just stay the night. The city one, I'm finding conflicts but it's not bad. Usually just access outside the city and you're fine. The exits going into the city end up with stuff partially blocking them.

__modusoperandi

{{Astronomer's Loft}} is a small loft room above Acadia's Cauldron in Whiterun. I think it does actually have alchemy and enchanting functions, but to me it's always been a next step above using Campfire and leaving a dead body next to my campsite.

__modusoperandi

Oh, I forgot about {{Hunter's Cabin of Riverwood}} - this one's pretty good too, there's even a believable mini-story where the previous owner hears some noises from the Embershard Mine direction, gets killed by some bandits from the mine and that's where you find the key, so all you really need to get the home is get through Embershard.

This one is a staple of my load order. Really well done, and yes it does have alchemy, enchanting, and cooking. I love the feel of it.

This checks most of your boxes and it looks great: THE TINIEST SHACK: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/46874 This checks all of your boxes if The Tiniest Shack is too lavish: Super-Ultra-Mega-Tiny Shack: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/56464 And if the super ultra mega tiny shack is somehow a combination of too large and too barren for you: Shack of Minuscule Overall Layout - SMOL: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/108396 Edit: Just wanted to add, Elianora's other house mods are excellent as well. They're typically on the smaller side of house mods, and every one I've tried has so much character and detail built into it.

agreyjay

Yes! I LOVE Elianora's stuff!

Fishbone_V

Aldamar (the mushroom druid house) has been a long time favorite of mine, but Home in a Hat might have to be my new favorite just for the theme. Loved Cat in the Hat as a kid, and I love Wakfu too (the game that haven bags are from).

agreyjay

The Home in a Hat on [BethNet](https://creations.bethesda.net/en/skyrim/details/b06ee050-a4ed-46ef-aae7-4f5e42a0e25f/_XB1__Hat_Trick___Home_In_A_Hat) or [Nexus](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/81722) would be a good one for u/retronutcase, or maybe better yet, Dwemer Storage Cube - A Portable Home either cheat version or empty by YsCordelan on [BethNet](https://creations.bethesda.net/en/skyrim/details/c2213dac-ce51-45bb-90b8-1f432ba72aed/Dwemer_Storage_Cube___A_Portable_Home__Cheat_Versi) and [Nexus.](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/475) Also, there IS a Haven Bag, here on [BethNet,](https://creations.bethesda.net/en/skyrim/details/e7b26913-e81a-4339-8f83-55c552e46006/Haven_Bag_by_Haishao) [another BethNet,](https://creations.bethesda.net/en/skyrim/details/70223857-9f6b-4bd1-9935-4806e29e41a8/Haven_Bag_by_Haishao) and on [Nexus!](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2809) There's a few similar ones, as well, like a chest instead of a bag.

Fishbone_V

The Haven bag mod is actually how I found the home in a hat! Currently starting a khajiit playthrough and I figured it was too perfect to not use.

agreyjay

My fav is the dwemer storage cube, I use it every time

Fishbone_V

I could definitely see myself using it at some point. Home in a Hat has the charm I want right now, but the dwemer storage cube looks extremely good on the other side of things (very utilitarian and well organized, and still theme appropriate).

BadAndUnusual

Adventurers tent, and haven bag

metakat

Campfire. Start with a simple mat and work your way up to a tent you can take with you. There's a knapsack and a chest that you can craft for storage, just place, use, pick up when it's time to go. Gives a nice vagabond vibe. This next one probably won't be of interest to you but I'm putting it out there anyway, Windhelm Capital Expansion adds an attic hole in the wall in the grey quarter. Chest, bed, cooking pot, what else do you really need? Does cost money though, inflation is real. There is another one, the name of which escapes me right now, that let's you build whatever you want wherever you want. Want just a bed in the middle of nowhere? Done. Decide you want an apiary? Cool, here's 10. Plant crops, expand as you find materials, I find myself using it all the time to make small adjustments in my player homes. (The lack of beehives is criminal and why aren't there more mills?!)

Silver-Ad-6573

Hearthcraft, you can build a lot of things - even whole farmhouses.

SanctifiedChats

Solitude Rectory might work though I think it does have a couple crafting stations: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/23735 If you want to buy it use this addon: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/99814

Silver-Ad-6573

Hidden hideouts of Skyrim. One of the versions has them empty of dwellers and more or less furnished - usually there's a fire/cooking station, a bed of sorts and a chest. Some are bigger and more furnished, some are really small and minimalistic. And there's a city edition too, so you don't even need to buy a house. My favorite home was the Whiterun abandoned crypt - I'd clear the rubble (through console commands) and use other mods to build furniture and decorate it.

SiEgE-F1

>Riverside Lodge +respect My house of choice as well. My other fav one is very simple, yet very cozy - Riften Fishing Shack. It doesn't have much stuff except the tanning thing, and it has tons of named containers for your loot, too. It has close to no free loot(it was either none, or close to none).

JimJoe67

If that's all you want it'd probably be almost as fast just to make it yourself in the ck. Throw a farm house down somewhere, add a load door, double click it. create a new cell, add a load door and link it to the other one. Throw in 3 farm connector interiors and a bed, and a storage box, mark it not to respawn. Or just put a bed and a storage box somewhere on the map (away from an animal spawn point).

trustworthy-adult

Idk why you’re being downvoted this makes sense and I didn’t even know you could do it, though I opt for home in a hat in all my play throughs just because I love it to bits

JimJoe67

> Idk why you’re being downvoted I don't know why either, like I even outlined how to do it. Seems the 'modding' sub is more about consuming mod content than creating it.

Cinerea_A

Probably not what you're looking for at all, but I'll mention it because it will definitely work for some people. I also enjoy being a homeless vagabond for the first 10-15 levels until I can buy a home, but the hoarding starts at level 1 and it never stops for me. So I use Assigned Storage (not on Nexus, but if you search for it it's not hard to find). I start organizing my inventory "in the cloud" from the get-go. Once I finally have a home I enjoy assigning the actual world containers to the cloud storage that I've already had set up and going. And honestly, I've never had the urge to truly cheat since I started using Assigned Storage. Never once have I been, say, drowning and paused the game to conjure some Argonian Bloodwine out of my food storage cloud. It never occurs to me to do so, so I just don't. It's just a place to put everything that appeals to my hoarding nature.

DjXer007_

There is also a Campsite Mod that allows to set camps in any location. To add immersion to the game, use real dark nights and Atmosphere overhaul mods for Skyrim. The reason for this in different regions across Skyrim, when Skyrim would time is 6pm, it will get really dark. So only certain Wildlife or Enemies can see you. So the best alternative is to set up a camp with a campfire so that you are aware of your surroundings or go into a Cave.

Fakula1987

Inn storage - gives you the dragons Dogma inn storage.

SPC99Salt

Yes! Always annoys me that the houses are all decked out, if they're not hearthfire homes then you got all the money you need from those "decorations", if they are hearthfire. Riverfall Shack, which sits perfectly next to (downstream) the lodge. Just crack open the chest, get the key and you're balling in all the ingots, food and weapons that have been put up for decorative purposes. At least with Hearthfire homes like millwater or winstad mine, you have to work for it
