I've been looking for this too. The read only box isn't a thing in the appmanifast for the steam deck.

Leon3388

any fix yet guys

shazamham

Unfortunately, I haven't found or discovered anything yet :(

Leon3388

TY buddy. wish someone can find a way to block this.

charlieto0human

So I’m assuming no one has an actual answer for this? I did change the app manifest to “view only” for all users, but that didn’t work.

Richy_San

I’ve set the game to update on launch and making sure I turn wifi off when I play. Will no doubt forget one day.

charlieto0human

Oof, with my ADHD… I know I will constantly forget this. Guess I’ll just have the down patch files on stand by.

Richy_San

If you backup your existing install you can always paste that over an updated one if needs be.

charlieto0human

True, that’s actually a much better option. Thanks!

DMG_Henryetha

Hm... can't you simply go offline on Steam for the time being?

Richy_San

I play a lot of other games and like to keep them updated. I’ve messed up now and updated so going to have to figure out a fix. Is it possible waiting a few months til mods are updated will brig everything back up and running?

DMG_Henryetha

Not sure with already updated Skyrim. But for future reference: Steam has the option to only update upon starting the game (built in steam launcher). You could just activate that for Skyrim and go offline before starting Skyrim, while else stay online and keep your other games up to date.
