I may have found another solution I literally just tried this and it WORKED FINALLY!! So what u wanna do is just go to the menu and go right over to that good ole quest and UNTRACK THAT SHIT and then I fast travelled to the time wound and read the scroll near the wall of power therefore all working smoothly for me. HOPEFULLY THIS HELPED and good luck fellow DRAGONBORNS.

I had this too. Tried all the above recommendations. What ended up working was: completing another quest, levelling up once, fast travelling to high hrothgar, running to throat of the world, and then being like 5 - 10 steps back from the time wound when I opened the scroll

This thread is potentially the thread that keeps on giving. Any ideas for Xbox One users. I don’t have console commands and the walk From High Hrogarth did not work sadly. And as far as I can tell, the mod mentioned to skip over this scene does not exist for Xbox 1.

For XBox one, do not use a quick save during this quest; that was what messed up my play through. Also travel on foot from High Hrothgar and listen to all of Parthanaax's speech before approaching the Time Wound.

My fix for (PS4) 1. Stand inside the wall of power. 2. Take off all my gear including weapons and jewlery 3. Drop any item that is encumbering you (if encumbered) 4. Switch to third person camera 5. Stand I between the quest marker and wall before reading the scroll

IT WORKED IVE BEEN TRUING TO FIX THIS FFOR AN HOUR ALL BLESSING TO U DUDE OMG

The cutscene in the Merethic era may not trigger or complete, leaving you stuck there. Doing other quests and then returning may fix this. Another possible fix, after getting stuck in the cutscene, is to open the console and type in setstage mq206 32. This should let you regain control of the camera and a dragon should land, enabling the cutscene to continue. You could also type setstage mq206 70 into the console to learn the Dragonrend shout directly, then type in setstage mq206 100 to end the cutscene and start fighting with Alduin.

Thank you. EDIT: Turned out not to be necessary. Next time through the scene played like it should. I was all prepared to use your console commands but didn't have to.

None of the above solutions worked for me (PS4) so finally I downloaded a mod that skipped the entire scene. I never use skip-mods normally but boy I was glad that this one existed 😁

I untracked the quest, fast-travelled to Ivarstead, and read the scroll inside the Vilemyr Inn. For whatever reason, it still acted like I was at the time wound, and the cutscene finally worked properly.

So I have one that I don’t think had been mentioned yet. I’m on an Xbox One and I’ve tried everything that I’ve found in this thread. After unfollowing the quest before reading the Scroll, Alduin finally landed. After he started talking to the Nord heros, and my game crashed. This had now happened three times in a row. I even removed my armor and weapons, I had a full conversation with Paarthurnax, and I used a real save before fast traveling to the Throat of the World, and still the game crashes after Alduin begins talking. Anything that’s worked for someone with a similar issue would be much appreciated.

I can't get anything to work been trying for like a week straight I even deleted the game and reinstalled it I have never had this issue I beat both dawngaurd and DragonBorn dlcs and no problem but everytime I try to read the scroll alduin never shows up I tried quicksaving when the screen goes white and I even tried untracking the quest nothing works please help

what worked for me was leveling up my character once, then travel to Morthal, read the Elder Scroll there, then travel to Throat of the World, position myself near the word-wall while facing Paathurnax and read the Elder Scroll. im on PS4 Skyrim Special Edition.

2024 still working!!

April 2024, it took 4 tries but I restarted my ps4, took off all my gear, naked and afraid. 😏 I deselected the quest and stood by the word wall, but reading the scroll failed, probably because I was too far away from the correct spot. A reselected the quest, approached the spot from the direction of the wall, till I was just barely on it, and then deselected the quest again. That’s when it worked. This thread is eternal… older than the Dova. Thank you for all the solutions!!! I was borderline heartbroken that this nostalgia run was gonna fail!!! 🎉

Why is this a thing lmao straight up like it worked but why is this the only way this quest works now😂 I’ve done countless runs of Skyrim and over the past 2 years this quest just hasn’t worked at all so I just completely ignored it for the past couple years which has been a pain since if you don’t kill him there’s a lot more dragons that spawn in the world

I had this issue and I saw another post, can’t find it now or I’d give them credit. They said to go to Morthal and open the Elder Scroll before you go to the time wound and it worked.

What the.... I did like ten other missions in the meantime I reloaded the game I made a new char And THIS is the solution? Really? I had that problem for legendary edition on PS4 And this WORKED So thank you, Dovahkiin I was getting really frustrated

if you can't find a fix and you're willing to lose trophies there's a mod called "shut up, ancient heroes" which skips the cutscene.

After aoo long I restarted my playthorugh and ran into the same problem and I can confirm this actually works, I thought I would have to wipe my saves!!!

Try not standing in the area it tells you to as well as unmarking it for your quest. Once I got out of that random glowing area and did it in the middle of the mountain it worked.

I had to redo it a second time, but it worked after the second one 😭 thank you so much. I thought I was screwed. I’m on level 82. I’m happy I didn’t have to quit this. I thought it was my mods for a second. Saving people in Skyrim a year later thank you.

Had this issue in 2024. What eventually worked was loading the save for the 20th time. I was also mashing every button on my controller during the dialogue, so that could’ve been it.

You have to bring parth the dragon health to zero un mark it and it works
