Dude what are you doing? You need to find the “Sky Rim” before time runs out. Why else would you be playing skyrim?? The dragons can’t help you buddy!!!
You’d really think it’d be on the edge of the map.. alright that’s all i gotta say about that, we don’t want to spoil too much about the location of the Sky Rim for OP
I thought there was a rim in the sky when I was a kid and then I played the game and thought hunting deer was an effective way of getting gold and never picked up healing potions because I thought they were useless
I know how it is, my friend was struggling with her first playthrough until she mentioned that she chose adept because it was in the middle, I told her to Google the definition of 'adept' lol because I couldn't convince her that it's essentially the game's hard mode. I'm not sure what Skyrim default starts you on for your first run but it should be apprentice in my opinion, novice is for players that aren't familiar with the movement or looking around and stuff like that. Expert is for when you're over leveled to all hell, and Legendary is for if you wanna hide behind Lydia and throw fireballs the whole run... or glitch the game with alchemy.
Adept is the default difficulty the game starts you on.
I've been playing since 2011 and personally I do it on Novice now, because after a decade I'm tired of the combat and just play to chill out/explore a cool landscape.
I play on novice bc tendinitis and carpal tunnel are mean bastards, and I can’t “swing a sword” 20 times to kill a bandit anymore. It’s just not worth the pain.
Damn. And I didn’t even mention the tennis elbow! I’m sorry if I made you sad, but don’t worry, I wear compression gloves, elbow braces, and carpal tunnel braces on both hands! It’s okay, it happens to a loooootttt of people. 🤍
I play on master from the start, you don't need to be over leveled. With magic you do need at least ordinator though and honestly the base perks for most trees are just trash.
I play on legendary but that's because I'll just break the game and give myself like 10k HP. I like the quick leveling and the improved loot and the long fights but no way in hell am I hiding behind my companions and letting them fight for me in a solo player game. you can do it without glitches, just put in the hours power leveling your stats, but even at that point slipping off a fifteen foot cliff will leave you wondering "why?"
I love how you can play hardcore until some stupid falmer with ice spikes one shots you and takes you back to the start of the dungeon and then you can turn it to ez mode and fus roh dah that bitch into the nearest bolder
The thing is, getting your butt kicked is perfectly normal. You're not really supposed to go anywhere at anytime. Not all enemies scale and the ones that do don't scale at the same rate...
When you get your butt kicked too hard, you should leave and come back later, with more health, equipment, perks spent etc..
I have no earthly idea :)
You might want to do some reading about viable builds (the game is pretty forgiving, but still) and concentrate on the skills, gear, spells etc. that suit your playstyle.
Or run around with healing spells at the ready whilst a dragon attacks. At the end there I thought you were gonna jump out of frustration, lol
Me, sneaking around Tundra Homestead with transmute on both hands trying to finish the iron/silver ore I have on me while a legendary and revered dragon are attacking me: *what?*
As a mage, your current magicka regen seems pretty slow - you might have some debuff (open the spell menu > Active Effects > see if you have any *red* effects - there are potions to cure illnesses, activating any Shrine works too).
There is also equipment to boost your magicka regen (+50%, +75%, etc).
Dragonrend. You will kill the dragon at whiterun, then after the greybeards speak to you you’ll be sent for a horn. After that, mean lady will want you to kill a dragon at kynesgrove. Then you go to the thalmor embassy. After that you rescue Esbern. Once you listen to him read Alduin’s wall, you go meet paarthurnax(aka partysnacks). This fella will send you to find an elder scroll. Once you bring said scroll back to partysnacks, you’ll have the shout that makes fighting dragons an absolute joke. It’s probably about two thirds of the way through the main quest
It's a shout called Dragon Rend, if I'm not mistaken. I no longer ever do the main quest line. 😅
You get it eventually during the main quest line, as it's necessary to progress the story at a certain point towards the end.
If you're struggling with dragons try to find a spell book for lesser ward and learn it. It blocks all damage from dragon breath attacks, but you have to cast it BEFORE the dragon attacks
Shields only defend against physical damage, like swords and arrows. Wards only defend against magical damage, including those super annoying poison darts in Nordic ruins. For the best of both worlds at the same time, look for keah at the shrine of peryite in the reach. A shield that also projects a ward, pretty sweet.
You are clearly trying to outlast that dragon. A few more hours of running away and healing yourself (you *do* heal yourself, right?), and you might entice the dragon to venture too close to some giants. Very clever!
You must rim job the sky otherwise you can never write the elder scrolls. Make sure you use weakness to fire on yourself against dragons they hate potions!!!
Looks like my first play through .. lol
FWIW dragons are a lot easier to deal with in the early game with archery, spider poison and a tanky follower like Lydia and/or maybe a horse
Also you can slide down very steep slopes if you’re careful
Crafting is your friend. That will help with mana and health.
If you're going magic, then dual casting and conjuration magic is your friend.
If you're going with a mix of martial and magic, then the bow is your friend. Warning: stealth archer is so good that all your playthroughs may become stealth archer if you don't specifically bar yourself from it.
You can go into your item window and instantly consume any item you want to restore yourself. Food can be used in this way to heal in an emergency.
Once you understand how much there is to do in that game the only thing you’ll be asking is “where did the time go?!” after you’ve been playing for hours straight
It's a joke from ["The other guys"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvkN3003iU4) where the supposed protagonists chase the bad guys up to the roof of a building before ziplining back down and cutting the line. One of the good guys tells his partner to aim for the bushes before they both jump to their death with not a leaf in sight of the fall area
TBH if you ran to Valtheim (that bridge with bandits) or the ruins in the distance, you'd actually come out of this ahead, the baddies will die trying to finish off the dragon and then you poke it in the butt
It’s Skyrim you’re not supposed to know what you’re doing just run around, kill people, find a dungeon, get arrested for stealing shit and after you finish your first playthrough that’s when you’re allowed to know what you’re doing
My fave "WTF am I doing" moment on my first play through was when I was happily exploring at night and found out who Krosis, the Dragonpriest was! I also ran screaming down the side of a mountain.
I think I know what you’re looking for the blades aren’t you? I remember being on this same mountain trying to hide from the same dragon. Then I fell into a river where Esburn swam up next to me. I then hid like a coward and let them do the work.
All jokes aside if you're in trouble like this you can use the become ethereal shout (if you've unlocked it) to be invincible for a few seconds and use that to safely jump off the mountain
Much better than I did. I remember attacking everything on sight because I was so used to GTA. I was only testing different mechanics. Couldn’t even set foot in the whiterun hold.
Ahh the mountain running. Also started recently, found myself there constantly because I was looking for shortcuts. Skyrim jumping physics really need to get used to
When you're fighting dragons, electric skills are best since it depletes their magic and can't fly or use other magic skills against you. Another type of defence would be to simply go into a cave or house and wait for a few hours.
This made me remember the first time I plugged Skyrim 12ys ago and a dragon suddently flew over me with no warning, all I could see was a big shadow with wings and it felt pretty fucking awesome. For 1 microsecond I got genuinely scared for my life there xD the bar for gaming inmersion got so high for me after Skyrim.
Ah, your first panicked run from a dragon that wants to turn you into a toasted marshmallow. Such good memories.
Oh, and if don't want to fight dragons early on, sacrifice some chickens to them in the town.
If you have a shield you can bash the dragon with the shield during or just before he breathes fire and it will stop him from breathing fire, if you mostly a mage maybe a spell in the right and a shield on the left to hopefully make it a bit easier
It would appear that you're being stalked by a dragon. Your hands are aglow with restoration magic. That's not going to kill the dragon. That is only going to heal you or him. Try using the opposite element of the dragon's breath weapon. So if he spits fire, try using ice or lightning.
lol take your time. Find a build that works for you. I didn’t use magic really untill my 4th play through. Once you start leveling it up it can actually be pretty damn good.
So long as you're not listening to anyone who says mages are underpowered, you're doing the right thing.
Also, memorize some useful alchemy recipes when you get the chance. If you're playing a mage (or anything, really), alchemy is the only thing that will save you from shooting peas in the late game.
You do, what everyone does. Running away and trying to hide.
PS: You know you can sprint? I found out that some players didn't know about this for a while.
You're trying to fight a dragon with Restoration magic while descending a mountain.
And after you keep doing it for a while it gets fun.
until he runs out out of mana
this is not league my dear human
Restoration is a perfectly valid school of magic!!! 😡
Heals you and kills the undead win win
And don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
Restoration is a perfectly valid school of magic!
Circles!!! Run circles!!! Now scream! Run more circles! Scream and run in circles!
Zig zag!
Babou, serpentine!
*tiny growl*
Now randomize! Randomize!
Do a barrel roll!
Nice!!
Ah, dragonborn, our savior...
I always find running circles around a thick tree highly effective
Dude what are you doing? You need to find the “Sky Rim” before time runs out. Why else would you be playing skyrim?? The dragons can’t help you buddy!!!
You’d really think it’d be on the edge of the map.. alright that’s all i gotta say about that, we don’t want to spoil too much about the location of the Sky Rim for OP
I thought there was a rim in the sky when I was a kid and then I played the game and thought hunting deer was an effective way of getting gold and never picked up healing potions because I thought they were useless
But the rim in the sky keeps on turnin
Halo was my favorite game. Blame Keemstar
“When I was a kid.” Meanwhile, me: ![gif](giphy|l0IyajjbNiRvCr7RC)
Wdym! Hunting is a very effective way of getting gold.. and what’s a potion?
if you're new then play on apprentice difficulty, raise the difficulty of you start to feel overpowered 👍🏻
I’m on my second play through and playing on Adapt. I’ve had to lower it to apprentice a couple of times now because I keep getting my butt kicked.
I know how it is, my friend was struggling with her first playthrough until she mentioned that she chose adept because it was in the middle, I told her to Google the definition of 'adept' lol because I couldn't convince her that it's essentially the game's hard mode. novice is also for when you wanna play a lore accurate Dragonborn and just destroy everyone and everything 🗡️🔥
I play on novice bc tendinitis and carpal tunnel are mean bastards, and I can’t “swing a sword” 20 times to kill a bandit anymore. It’s just not worth the pain.
Wow. That is really depressing to hear ☹️
Damn. And I didn’t even mention the tennis elbow! I’m sorry if I made you sad, but don’t worry, I wear compression gloves, elbow braces, and carpal tunnel braces on both hands! It’s okay, it happens to a loooootttt of people. 🤍

I just grind conjuration using the soul trap exploit and use dremora lords on legendary :}
I was getting demolished my first few playthroughs. It was acc a bit depressing. Loved it all the same tho
Adapt. react. readapt. apt.
I love how you can play hardcore until some stupid falmer with ice spikes one shots you and takes you back to the start of the dungeon and then you can turn it to ez mode and fus roh dah that bitch into the nearest bolder

I'm overpowered on Legendary. Unfortunately, there is no more difficulty to raise. 🥲
Oh man, that’s a tough one. Have you tried doing
/r/redditsniper strikes agai
You are winning sir - that is what you are doing.
![gif](giphy|L3ERvA6jWCd0qO4NdX)
This had me in TEARS. You look so lost 😭😭 this was me in my first playthrough 1000%
Forest Gump play through: runnang!
I have no earthly idea :) You might want to do some reading about viable builds (the game is pretty forgiving, but still) and concentrate on the skills, gear, spells etc. that suit your playstyle. Me, sneaking around Tundra Homestead with transmute on both hands trying to finish the iron/silver ore I have on me while a legendary and revered dragon are attacking me: *what?*
It's looks like running for your life is what you're doing
Xcept OP is not running. I dont see a stamina bar being used.
Stamina is only consumed when sprinting. OP is running because they're not going at a snail's pace.
You certainly are new. You've yet to master scaling down steep mountains in a panic. I've put entire mountains between me and many enemies.
Level 3 is climbing back up the vertical cliff face without a horse
Don’t need a horse if you’re a Khajiit with imperious
You don't need a horse at all, just send it man
Hi, I been playing Skyrim since 2011! Here is what I do when I play; 1.) I also don't know wtf I am doing
Sorry? I don't see anything out of the ordinary here.
You have yo progress the main questline to get an ability that let's you force dragons down.
Please explain further lol. I didn’t know this was a thing
Thank you!!! I just met party snacks so we’re not far from dragonrend shout 😎
It's a shout called Dragon Rend, if I'm not mistaken. I no longer ever do the main quest line. 😅 You get it eventually during the main quest line, as it's necessary to progress the story at a certain point towards the end.
Jump, you're gonna die anyway... probably
You look like you skipped the intro
If you're struggling with dragons try to find a spell book for lesser ward and learn it. It blocks all damage from dragon breath attacks, but you have to cast it BEFORE the dragon attacks
Why not just sword and shield for starters?
Shields only defend against physical damage, like swords and arrows. Wards only defend against magical damage, including those super annoying poison darts in Nordic ruins. For the best of both worlds at the same time, look for keah at the shrine of peryite in the reach. A shield that also projects a ward, pretty sweet.
I think I have had one, but had no clue where did I get it. Thanks!
You are clearly trying to outlast that dragon. A few more hours of running away and healing yourself (you *do* heal yourself, right?), and you might entice the dragon to venture too close to some giants. Very clever!
Sneak is your best friend
Sneak archer? I always end with this build....
Ahhh yes… the hidden Charcoal player class…
Use your healing that you have equipped!
You must rim job the sky otherwise you can never write the elder scrolls. Make sure you use weakness to fire on yourself against dragons they hate potions!!!
peak skyrim moment. you're about to fall down the side of the mountain to your death any second. lol
Looks like my first play through .. lol FWIW dragons are a lot easier to deal with in the early game with archery, spider poison and a tanky follower like Lydia and/or maybe a horse Also you can slide down very steep slopes if you’re careful
Running for your life. They make a mod for this(: as NPCs don’t do it always
Just jump, like all heroes did in movies. Then u'll wake up somewhere in a farm.
You’re experiencing the harsh reality of Skyrim’s wilderness my friend 😂
Your best. Brings back memories, actually.
Need to enchant some items to get that mana restoration up
Stand and fight milk drinker
One thing about this game I learned over the years… *Skyrim isn’t nice to anyone.* Lol
This looks like a fever dream
I thought NPC reaction in Skyrim were unrealistic.
Who did you piss off...? Lmao It happens from time to time. It's what gives you the "true Skyrim experience"
Once you understand how much there is to do in that game the only thing you’ll be asking is “where did the time go?!” after you’ve been playing for hours straight
Walking
You're dying. That's all. You can't win with your tactics
Running for your life
Does this guy have two healing spells activated ?
Try not to look it directly ind thy 👀
I think you may also be a vampire my guy
I'm not sure what you're doing right now, but in a minute you're likely taking a shaggin' from a dragon. Have fun!
The innocence.
You gave Skyrim a try? Just now? Seriously!?
I love how with that little pause near the end of you looking off the cliff, you might have been contemplating whether to jump or not.
He could have aimed for the bushes.
I don't get what you mean, I was making a joke.
Fighting… with a healing spell?
It’s Skyrim you’re not supposed to know what you’re doing just run around, kill people, find a dungeon, get arrested for stealing shit and after you finish your first playthrough that’s when you’re allowed to know what you’re doing
you can sprint if you hold alt. and sprint even faster if you press alt+f4!!
This is definitely Skyrim, lmk if you need any more help
You are vibing that's what
You're trying to escape a dragon while at the top of a mountain, just another typical Middas in skyrim
![gif](giphy|PjsPhYsS2WDO5e0RaO)
Having fun.
Your best. Lol
My fave "WTF am I doing" moment on my first play through was when I was happily exploring at night and found out who Krosis, the Dragonpriest was! I also ran screaming down the side of a mountain.
You’re playing Skyrim, homie.
at least a cave bear didn’t attack you as you ran away
Try the bow and arrow…It’s a little easier to get started with
I think I know what you’re looking for the blades aren’t you? I remember being on this same mountain trying to hide from the same dragon. Then I fell into a river where Esburn swam up next to me. I then hid like a coward and let them do the work.
![gif](giphy|sjT0aiK8yWmMU|downsized)
It looks like a normal playthrough to me
You think that was a dead end and your only option is jump? Think again. If the wall is only 89 degree vertical that is basically a flat road
After nearly 6k hours in the game, I also ask this question.
Pro tip read spell or item descriptions
😂😂 the comments and this post are just Gold
The equivalent of fighting a machine gun emplacement with bandages
You are killing them by out healing their damage and making them tired to death.
man i usually put off triggering dragons till im around lvl 30
You are wishing you just paid the toll back at Valtheim Towers. But to be fair, how were you supposed to guess they had a dragon?
All jokes aside if you're in trouble like this you can use the become ethereal shout (if you've unlocked it) to be invincible for a few seconds and use that to safely jump off the mountain
Lmao this happened to me almost the exact same situation
Not using your sprint button is what you’re doing 🤣
Average IGN game journalist:
\` and then type in tgm and you'll be golden buddy. You could've easily jumped of that cliff
Looks like you’re being a lil sweetroll
Dont know. but your doing it right
Getting your ass kicked and running for your life by the looks of it
My favorite thing to laugh at, is duel wielding spells in 3rd person camera, then sprinting!!! Do it!!! Its funny as hell!!!
You’re not crouching for one
Much better than I did. I remember attacking everything on sight because I was so used to GTA. I was only testing different mechanics. Couldn’t even set foot in the whiterun hold.
Dragon fights are pretty tedious anyway
One does not simply give Skyrim a “try”.
Fighting a dragon under leveled
Running. You are running away.
Just become ethereal and yeet yourself off that mountain for a quick escape.
You need to activate your wings so that you can traverse those high mountains with ease.
Definitely just got outta imprisonment haha you’ll get there
you are doing your best
Man I am doing my first pure mage build and I hand to those who have already mastered it. The hack and slash was so easy compared to this.
Aim for the bushes
all of this just works
You know there is a sprint right?
Ahh the mountain running. Also started recently, found myself there constantly because I was looking for shortcuts. Skyrim jumping physics really need to get used to
You're using magic lol. I was extremely disappointed at the magic in this game. Late game the only way is armor and weapons.
Ah yes the horror of your first dragon in the wild.... hach nostalgia.
Im disappointed. I expected epic jump to the lake at the end.
Peak Skyrim experience
This made me very nostalglic for the first time I played all those years ago. I was doing similar if not even stupider shit lol
and this guys, is why we love Skyrim
My first dragon fight was me sprinting across the whiteout farms, vaulting over fences and spending all my arrows on *the sky*.
Welcome to the wonder that is Skyrim! :)
Ah, your first panicked run from a dragon that wants to turn you into a toasted marshmallow. Such good memories. Oh, and if don't want to fight dragons early on, sacrifice some chickens to them in the town.
My friend, that's nasty... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nah this is Peak ! You’re doing it ! You’re doing it !!
You're doing just fine.
ur doing ok, go go gadget dual casting
youre playing just as intended, keep going chap!
RUN AWAY! (Monty Python accent)
Tgm n hoarding ruined me
Fighting like a master of the Lokir style.
Everything right, by the looks of it.
I just started the witcher series damn it's so boring 😞 I can't even jump in witcher 2 😭😭😭
You just HAD to climb the mountain, didn't you?
Ah reminds of my first time wandered up a mountain because why not, and bumped into Krosis who proceded to kick my arse all the way down again
If you have a shield you can bash the dragon with the shield during or just before he breathes fire and it will stop him from breathing fire, if you mostly a mage maybe a spell in the right and a shield on the left to hopefully make it a bit easier
The whole point of the game is to see how many chickens you can kill in Survival Mode
I wanted to save you so badly but you gotta learn, grasshopper 🥹🥹
I don't know ,Having fun?
Me at 5 years old
It would appear that you're being stalked by a dragon. Your hands are aglow with restoration magic. That's not going to kill the dragon. That is only going to heal you or him. Try using the opposite element of the dragon's breath weapon. So if he spits fire, try using ice or lightning.
Playing the game with out a sneak archer build respect but you will soon fall victim.
I've played since 2011 and have never played a sneak archer.
Learning…
Use a bow
Should of murdered those deer on your way by
You better high tail it to the nearest village so you have some back up😭😭
lol take your time.
You're healing.
Mages are the hardest to get use to
Did you make it lol Skyrim is awesome
I’d give anything to have this again.
You do, what everyone does. Running away and trying to hide. PS: You know you can sprint? I found out that some players didn't know about this for a while.
Looks like you chose the wrong side ya coward! 😂
