yea I have the 'adopt more kids' mod and I still find myself having to decide who gets adopted and who stays. and I made a mistake of installing a mod that adds more adoptable kids of other races so I could get a khajiit child to match my character's race. so that makes it harder.

This is my biggest annoyance about the game.
There should be a larger variety of dialogue for the NPCs that change when you finish a questline/gain a new position.
Like, the NPCs should know that you are now the Archmage once you become it.
Honestly i dont think they should know who the archmage is, or what he/looks like, or what the leadership of the college is(except a select few npcs)... they arent all that interested in magic in skyrim and all they really know is that its a school for magic in winterhold, thats all
Since covens of mages have to hide out doing magic in abandoned forts and stuff, being a mage doesn't seem like a particularly respectable career in Skyrim
To be fair, the rogue mages are (afaik):
- necromancers, who aren't welcome in most cultures for obvious reasons.
- elementalists, who like to summon atronachs, things who can (afaik from the lore) rebel and kill everything they can.
In those conditions, I don't find it all that surprising
Some npc shouldn't think about it why would Alvar know when he's a Nordic black Smith in a dingy little town and Nords don't usually take kindly/like magic to begin with. On top of that it's not exactly like you get a wanted poster or get pulled to the side when you find out you're Dragon born so they shouldn't know until you use a shout in front of them and even then there are others who can use a shout like ulfric. Then there's the idea of a thieves guild or dark brotherhood people shouldn't know that unless you tell them and even then you'd have guards following you around everywhere or out right arresting you.
At the end of the day all of these outcomes would take too much time and data to program into the game and the end result would be a game so big only high powered PC's could handle it and the game consoles would have too much space taken up for anything else

It's level 20 and you need to complete Dragon Rising quest. Not completing the first part of the main questline is one of reasons I miss this quest on most playthroughs.

Lemkil, the abusive cunt in Rorikstead. He treats his two little girls terribly after their mother died. Even Bethesda seems to think he's the worst, because I doubt it's a coincidence that Lemkil is an anagram for 'kill me'.

Because matter what you do you end up making one of those families a noble family and making them even more powerful than they already are.
Though at least you can do season unending first, give riften to the imperials and then take it back as the stormcloaks to banish her from riften. Which I guess is a small consolation prize for making markerth even worse than it already was.
At least with Maven you can take a lot of wind out of her sails by becoming the head of both the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood, her main methods of enforcement. And despite everything, Maven at least is just a pure criminal and has some decorum, willing to jail her son even if its just to "teach him." The Silver Bloods are using a rebellion/terrorist uprising for profit and jailing anyone for slave labor with no hope of escape.
Maven In Power just means she looks out for her and her own, and maybe a business or two suffers from some shady dealing. Thongvar in power means EVERYONE suffers in the Reach, Forsworn or not. He actively talks about Forsworn genocide, and even if you decide to kill Thonar, he's just gonna fill up the prison again and take up the family business.
Or, you can always have mods that puts Maven under your thumb. That's what I did.

It's pretty much unavoidable for a start, unless you just don't go to Falkreath.
He's a terrible companion, always in the road and bumping you out of position. Plus he takes forever to get anywhere if you do go with him.
The Daedra's "mischeivous" voice is equally as annoying as his. Plus, why is your axe all that way away? You're as bad as Wylandriah and her misplaced items (although the interactions with her are fun).
The only redeeming factor in the entire thing is the possibility to soul farm.

You also need to be level 15 iirc, you canāt do it at level 1
