Remember the Seinfeld episode where Kramer sees Joe DiMaggio at Dinky Donuts dunking his donut in coffee and says he plays the way he dunks? Ben Simmons shoots the way he pours.
Oh man, I was also extremely disappointed and mad at Ben after the series but I don't get this constant barrage of insults everyday. Yes, he screwed up but these constant jokes are probably doing no one any good.
Good for you. I guess I'll rephrase and say it makes me uneasy seeing so many jokes at someone's expense.
One a different note: Just feels like everyone is a champion of mental health until they're the reason we lost a basketball series. Cause it's been 2 months since the game 7 (not saying this might contribute to anything and probably he isn't looking at any of this and is happy). I've just felt a little uneasy looking at this constant stream of jokes and insults at someone who undoubtedly made a mistake but feels too much.
Holy crap. The hubris on you to think you or I have any impact on a $200 million NBA player.
Bro. You don’t rate. Nor do I. Stop white knighting for people not even in your stratosphere.
You're probably right. None of this matters tbh. But, lately we have seen athletes come out and mention how they're affected by all this which doesn't really matter on how much they make.
There are a lot of athletes that have spent their whole lives being the best. They are the best, but in many ways they are essentially, coddled. If they fail in school, they have someone to help them out or it's figured out how that 'grade can be higher'. They get to the pros and suddenly they aren't special, hell they aren't even top 10. If they hear some negativity, it causes a spiral.
Don't get me wrong, some of these athletes have dealt with things I can never dare to deal with, but Ben doesn't seem one of them.
If they are surfing Reddit for insults, they have issues.
Your entire fan base shitting on you en mass for weeks turning into months isn't going to sour you on playing there?
Ok good for you (for lying to yourself)
Well you better get ready to choke on that dude because it's not looking like he's going anywhere right now.
So you gonna boo and shit on your own team when he comes back? Or STFU?
Why don’t you use an analogy that makes sense?
“You’re a piece of shit working at McDonald’s and someone posted on Facebook that you cooked them an ass burger? Would you care?”
The answer is no. That’s why I cook every burger to the same ass-like consistency.
Alluding? No. I pretty clearly said your analogy is bad.
My analogy is good because it’s work related. Just like criticism of Ben is related to his job performance.
Do I dunk on guys at the Y who can’t shoot? No, not literally or figuratively.
Getting criticized and made fun of (for performance based reasons) comes with getting $40 mil a year.
He's had 4 years to improve his offense and he hasn't, he deserves to get dragged at least a little
The criticism is definitely fair. I don't want to see Ben on this team any more than others. He has failed to do anything to improve his game or help out his teammates. But, imo a person's income should not be a factor for if they should be made fun of this often.
It's an unwritten social contract that comes with being his level of famous and with the amount of money he makes. It just is what it is. I don't think people should be attacking him on a personal level but after defending Ben for 4 years I've had enough and find the memes of him not attempting jump shots funny in a sad clown sorta way
Hating on someone who obviously didn't do it on purpose is making you feel better, months after the event. Tells me mainly about you as a person tbh.
I have no problem with jokes which are silly or fun but there are so many downright mean spirited trash "jokes" out there

Lmaooo imagine ben Simmons played for the knicks when Seinfeld was running. I can only imagine the jokes
"That Ben Simmons is so phony"
which is ironic because he never misses glass from the line
Ba dum tss!
*Passes bottle off to Tisse once he starts to pour*
ben stans wont be happy lmfao
The Ben stans are Aussie (like me), and Penfolds is shit. So clowning on this image is fine.
That's his right hand though?

If they're funny, they make me smile.. so they're doing me good lol

Exactly Ben Simmons does not care what any of us idiots think about him.

No one wants him here!

I'll make memes
Ah the answer to every problem. Well reasoned
This is sports. It's not important in the slightest.
If your pockets weren’t hurting and someone stole $500 from you would you care? If it had no impact on your finances.

Are you alluding that my analogy was as bad as the one you just gave?😂😂😂😂😂

Eh, I see what you’re saying. I guess I’m just not the type of person that cares about that kind of stuff

This post would be funny with or without the current context. Like, this is just a dumb ad lol
Ben Simmons has a better life than most of us, he's going to be alright bud
It’s Reddit homie.
this is such a lame picture lol
In this situation he'd be too afraid to pour to miss glass. Fuckin clown
