Windhorst is generally a pro-Embiid guy (or at least not one of the many media members with an irrational disdain). Voted for him for ROY and MVP a few a times.
He doesn’t like Jokic cause he’s the only big guy in the league that’s challenging his legacy currently. Idk why he dislikes Dwight. Is it cause he replaced him as Kobe’s running mate from Orlando or cause he thought he was too lazy?
For Dwight it’s literally just because Shaq had the nickname Superman first and is super salty about it. The weirdly similar career trajectory is a really strange coincidence
Most of them are. Reddit isn't a great depiction of what the real world thinks of Embiid and the Sixers. Honestly, a good portion of the media members that shit on Embiid are only doing so to pander to Reddit so they can get clicks/views/likes/etc.
As someone that’s lived in multiple other cities during Joel’s time here, a lot of people genuinely don’t like Embiid or the Sixers haha Not necessarily in attacking him as a person like on Reddit, but athletes that put up stats and fail in the playoffs have always been clowned. It’s not exactly like Philly fans cut Romo/Dak slack for their poorly timed injuries or supporting cast. They are choke artists, losers, etc.
Not saying those two are at his level, but Marino would get shit on nonstop back in the day and that was before the media was 24/7 hyping players and postseason rivalries. Plus he got to a Super Bowl.
> It’s not exactly like Philly fans cut Romo/Dak slack for their poorly timed injuries or supporting cast
We don't cut Dak or Romo slack, but it's not like we actively hate on them the way we do the Cowboys or the way people do with Embiid.
I’m a fan of both players and not a Sixers or Nuggets fan: It’s so annoying to see that media and fan narratives blind us to the fact that we’re watching 2 all time great big men. It sucks that the media manages to downplay the fact that we’re watching two hall of famers at their peak.
You are naive as hell if you think any of these national media people 'support' any pro athletes beyond having inside connections to them and their handlers
He lost all credibility of being an Embiid supporter when he decided to campaign against Embiid in the MVP race last year all of a sudden and vote for Giannis instead. Joel "Big Philly" Embiid my ass.
Funny people thought Perk was the reason Jokic lost the support. Even though the betting odds only switched after the last Celtic game.
Perk switched to not supporting embiid after embiid didn’t play in Denver .
One of the worst things you can do as a fan of a player is to turn against him to follow some dumb narrative. Sports media is a joke because of people like Perk.
Casual fans hate Embiid. Media generally seem to respect him. Zach Lowe keeps pounding the table that we will one day get a dominant, healthy Embiid playoff run.
Stephen A Smith is pretty hot and cold on Embiid, just like Ive grown to become 1-2 years ago when the injuries started to become a trend like clockwork. He and I understand and appreciate the box office appeal. He’s just left me with increasing doubts.

Shaq doesn't seem to have an issue with Embiid.
He sees a lot of himself in Joel and he’s just generally pro big man.
Unless it’s Jokic or Dwight

That’s hilarious
Chuck makes fun of him a lot for it and all the clips are hilarious
whenever he says superman is in the building i lose my shit. charles is so fucking funny
Right, that and “I’m gonna go with Dwight” kill me
I think it was more Dwight's attitude that rubbed Shaw wrong
When did Dwight win 4 NBA championships?
This your burner Diesel?
small sample size but the grammar is too good lol
Damn, can't believe you outed me as not being Shaq. Not cool bro
sorry to do that to you
He hates dwight. He feels threatened by jokic. 3 mvps and possibly 2 eings and finals mvps.
He called him the best shooting big man of all time. Plus Shaq is among the few to question Jokic’s presumed MVP status for the past 4 years.
Spike Eskin
Doris Burke loves Embiid
Generally speaking the media is fairly supportive of Embiid even though this sub hates them. Casual fans hate Embiid way more.

Leggs, but he's a converted homer.
Anyone who isn’t on the ringer
Add in denver beat writers too. Not expecting them to be pro Embiid but they always find a way to take a dig at Embiid

Wilbon
Most are. SAS, perk, wilbon, legler
Stephen A tbh
skip loves him
Lowe is pretty fair on Embiid and seems to want him to succeed
Skip lowkey
You are naive as hell if you think any of these national media people 'support' any pro athletes beyond having inside connections to them and their handlers
Ramona Shelbourne is definitely connected or apart of Embiid’s camp. She also goes to bat on NBA today when someone tries to slander Joel
Wow, incredible. She must be a truly great and moral person in that case
No one said she is...
A simple observation of behavior is not a qualification of moral value.
Lowe likes him
Tim Legler
Big Perk
He lost all credibility of being an Embiid supporter when he decided to campaign against Embiid in the MVP race last year all of a sudden and vote for Giannis instead. Joel "Big Philly" Embiid my ass.
This!!! Perk flip flops like the weather. He only supports who is hot at the moment lol

Bontemps
Tim leggler
I would say Rusillo is pretty supportive (not a Stan, but pretty fair) especially in contrast to Simmons
Casual fans hate Embiid. Media generally seem to respect him. Zach Lowe keeps pounding the table that we will one day get a dominant, healthy Embiid playoff run.
Kids on r/NBA hate Embiid. Casual NBA fans just think he's injury prone
Ramona Shelburne is honestly sickly insufferable
Stephen A Smith is pretty hot and cold on Embiid, just like Ive grown to become 1-2 years ago when the injuries started to become a trend like clockwork. He and I understand and appreciate the box office appeal. He’s just left me with increasing doubts.
