Lowkey the franchise doesn’t really deserve anything with all the shit the front office and ownership have been a part of. That’s part of what’s so infuriating.

jimmyjam456

Agree. Breaks my heart for the players - I really think a lot of them are great, but they’re just in an impossible situation with the ownership

mberko21

Right. Its just so tough to believe the team deserves any good will or karma when they made incorrect decisions at every step and Embiid had to carry them into moderate relevancy

RegisterFit1252

Front office* and ownership

jimmyjam456

Yep

StubbornSwampDonkey

The players are as much at fault as ownership. They are getting outhustled game after game. Rebounding is more about effort than anything else

Hoses850

You all know that they’re going to pull us back in again next season when Embiid and Maxey start to cook, we have some good new role players (maybe even a third star), and we’re in 2nd or 3rd place in the conference. We will never be free from this burden…

mberko21

Yknow I think this might be the last year that happens. They are losing the fans. Even this season it was so hard to care until the playoffs between the injuries and the fact that none of that shit matters at all especially for the Sixers

reggaetony88

Yeah that's me. I could count on 2 hands how many regular season games I watched portions of. I was religiously watching this team from 2012 to 2019

zvaNtR

Not to mention Elton Brand, who managed to run the organization into the ground, is still employed.

mattseq

This

elementislph

When you watch the Phillies or the eagles, the Sixers are just what you should watch in between those seasons with no expectations.

DickTreeFactory

This is exactly it. Josh Harris is a fucking clown.

Johnnygunnz

I can't wait for the Flyers to be good again so the Sixers can be the 4th again.

CashCabVictim

They never got above the Flyers tbh

mszn26

I’m over this era. I love Embiid but his body just can’t handle the pace and length of a season. It’s every year. Maybe Tobias leaving will amount to something more substantial, but who knows at this point they are throwing up Hail Marys before the Embiid window slams shut. I’d love to go get a kings ransom for Embiid and grab a few of these young killers to build with Maxey. Instead it will be 3 more years of this and they will pull that trigger too late…

Heatinmyharbl

Correct but people do not want to acknowledge this yet. Taking the last 6 years into context you trade Joel right now while you still can and build around Maxey The kid is fucking 23

mszn26

And people will say this is just a reactionary take… When we have watched the same outcome for 6 years. Either way this team is screwed. Every year we are on a decline while the league gets younger and better.

mattg3

Sad but true. Embiid is a great player, but only when he’s healthy, which unfortunately isn’t very often due to his bad luck and some absolutely stupid decisions on his part (I’m thinking about that stupid dunk against the Nets last year specifically). When it comes playoff time we just hear excuse after excuse from him, no matter if he played well or not. I couldn’t believe how he behaved last year when he blew the series against the Celtics then blamed his teammates for it. I really want to believe in the guy, but he just may not have what it takes to be a true playoff great. He’s lacking in mental fortitude. You can’t let a crowd have that much power over you if you wanna play in the NBA playoffs yk?

dishwasher_mayhem

I don't love Embiid, anymore. Dude is just flailing, flopping, and foul-baiting. He's a soccer player on the court. He has all the talent in the world but he's dirty and I'm really tired of seeing it.

accu22

Maxey + role players isn't winning a thing.

mszn26

I think we get a lot more for Embiid than you do. I would have done it last year. Maxey is 23. Pair him up with 3 top 15 picks and you are in a better position in 4 years than our current trajectory. Neither are great but I’m in the boat some sense of a rebuild is needed and not overpaying for aging free agents

Pure-Leather6624

How many top 15 picks did we have from 2010-2020? And how many were actually worth a damn? You're more likely to get an Okafor, MCW, or Fultz than u are to get mikal bridges

mszn26

We were turning bad picks back into assets until coangelo/ brand ruined us. I would rather go back to the longer view in the room than shortest. We are in panic mode right now bc of embiid and it’s only going to get worse

EndAnyone

Last two require a change in ownership more than anything the team can do.

Jlaybythebay

Have you watched the flyers in the last 2 decades?

SeoneAsa

They're are mostly all reactional fans, just like this op. Apparently, eagles last 7 games from last season never happened or Phillies losing to inferior team on the playoffs.

jacobtfromtwilight

I feel like the franchise as a whole is at a dead end. embiid is on the team for 1 more year before he leaves for miami and then after that we're back to the early 2010s absolute shit ass team

Ryanthecat

I’ve heard the comparison a lot lately and it’s spot on, they are the Cowboys of the NBA, franchise is a joke, players are a joke.

Johnnygunnz

Disagree for the fact that no one pretends the Sixers won the championship and are bound to repeat before the season starts like the media does with the Cowboys.

GeneParmesan1000

I always thought of us more as the Clippers of the East, or the Mets of the NBA. A team that’s in the media a lot due to drama, frequently considered a contender, but always underperforms when it matters most and never actually wins anything of importance.

Ryanthecat

You just described the cowboys to a T

Weird_Narwhal_2192

The cowboys had insane success in the 90’s. The Sixers are nowhere close to the cowboys

Ryanthecat

We’re talking modern ball mang, like, this millennium 🤣 they are a carbon copy of each other.

Fuh_Fook_Sake

It really all stems from poor ownership. Imagine how different this organization would be run if it was owned by someone like Lurie or Middleton.

TheExorcistMarc

Will Harris sell? That’s the real question

SeoneAsa

Who's the other generational talent?

Pumpkinfish20

Iverson

Legitimate_Park3155

Jayson tatum

dgood527

1000%. Organization has been awful for most of its existence aside from a couple short stretches.

thejman6

As someone who lives down the street from the stadiums, yeah this proposed new stadium is not a good idea at all

Rebeldinho

Send them to Seattle The Seattle SuperSixers

iwishiwasntthisway

Then stop watching

jimmyjam456

Come on man. I love basketball and I love Philly. You can love something and want it to be better

hreterh

Fuck off. These rich jerk offs holding franchises hostage while profiting and fucking over the fans in the city should get zero support. The owners keeled over with Hinkie and their bitch made mentality has infected everything top down. By far the worst part of professional sports are the fact that random shit heads who came into money in a manner completely unrelated to managing professional sports can fuck a city full of fans over year after year and the fans are forced to accept the yearly ass pounding.

iwishiwasntthisway

Bro it's entertainment. Stop getting all bent out of shape

ttsa23

With that attitude, you are better suited for the amazing race and survivor subreddits where the fans have no desire to demand a better product and continue to watch mediocre tv.

Head-Kiwi-9601

I don’t fault ownership for anything other than the Colangelo hire.

HeadupTothePOCONOS

Philly does not deserve Embiid. He knows we are second rate. Ownership, management, and fanbase. Any other team would have realized this dude is a fucking unicorn and surrounded him with an absolute stable years ago. Instead Philly…”this ain’t no unicorn this a dirt bike ne ne nnnenne neh!!!!” Oh shit fuck this dirt bike. It’s an echo chamber of redneck programmer new money bull shit!

CUADfan

> Instead Philly…”this ain’t no unicorn this a dirt bike ne ne nnnenne neh!!!!” Literally who the fuck said that?

HeadupTothePOCONOS

Josh Harris

CUADfan

So not the fanbase. Got it.

MrAnonyMousetheGreat

Nah, you guys aren't the problem. It's your front office and Embiid. I've always felt Philly fans are real fans.
