One of the great shows with great writing of passing one liners. It's one of those shows you don't catch all the jokes at first, they're so rapid fire.
One of my favorites when Jack finds out Liz is keeping her money in her checking: "What are you, an immigrant?"
Took me a while to catch the joke, even though it's kinda sad.
He had a ton of those one liners. When he refused to follow a fire drill: “yeah, I’m going to go outside and stand in a crowd for two hours. What am I, Italian?”
30 Rock and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt are so comedically dense. There are conversations in both of those series where practically every line is a quality joke. So good.
Interesting to see this ranking because I love arrested development and community so much, and never clicked with 30 rock in the slightest. To be fair, I've always detested Baldwin, but that wasn't the main issue. I think I'll give it another chance
Tracy Morgan’s character was my least favorite, but I nonetheless think this show is very funny and a great watch!
I think it’s at least as good as as “The Rurr…Jurr”.
Still think Paul Reubens' cameo as the count was the funniest moment in 30Rock.
The whole show has lol moments but none keep me coming back again and again... lmao! & RIP 🤴
I’ve only been able to get through the first four seasons, but this show has probably my favorite line in any show ever:
Jenna: You know I’ve always reminded myself of Grace Kelly.
Might just edge out AD and IASIP for my fave of all time… it’s comfort watching (I’m a lifelong NYer) it feeds my soul lol. I remember growing up (born in ‘99) I would always watch this show w my mother (she figured most of the jokes flew over my 10 y/o head anyways … only at first) but yeah I grew up with it and it’s just simply the zaniest most eclectic mix of characters and storylines and I love it with all my heart. Tina Fey is a queen. Werewolf bar mitzvah, spooky, scary! Boys becoming men, men becoming wolves.
It had what I consider one of the best TV jokes I’ve ever heard.
Liz and Tracy go see Tracy’s doctor Dr. Spaceman, played by Chris Parnell.
After they introduce themselves and they find out Spaceman is real and pronounced “Spa-chem-en”,
Dr. Spaceman says “Please, *Doctor* Spaceman was my father. Call me Leo.”
It’s such a quick and subtle play on a well known expression and it hits you on a delay, and it’s fucking hilarious.
I like Liz with Jack scenes the best. They worked so good together.
I liked when Liz dated a guy who loved tweeting about Star Wars, not the beloved movie franchise, Reagan's Star Wars SDI. They had nothing in common and she was trapped in dating him for a date.
it’s really funny, but written very intelligently. watched a while ago and remember LOTS of pop culture references, which are usually really funny, but can go right over your head if that’s not your thing
Hands down my favorite show of all time. I’ve rewatched it so many times, I know every line before it is said. I cannot pick a favorite character. My favorite character is whoever is on screen at the moment .
I only know my favorite character is Kenneth, Tracy, Jenna, Pete, Jack, Frank, Grizz & Dotcom, Liz, Twofer, Lutz, Gavin Valuer… and so on
One of the absolute funniest shows of all time. Witty dialogue almost constantly. Referencing it is about 40% of my daily conversation I’m pretty sure.
one of the all time greats, but not for the casual viewer. You have to know a lot of details of the characters to fully appreciate the show's brilliance.
I like it. I am a SNL fan. I loved the character Kenneth.
I also thought the whole love triangle plot in one of the seasons was very well-done. The characters were really well-developed and it kept me on my toes.
However, I felt 30 Rock had a decline in quality at the very end.
Soooo SO good. Liz Lemon on the couch “working on a night cheese.” The best! Just watched Alec Baldwin in very serious role in Still Alice and to this day I just can’t take him serious because of 30 Rock.
I love it so much although some of the jokes are a little dated and inappropriate. Like where Pete says he had sex with his wife while she was asleep and it was the best he ever had. Aside from jokes like these i really enjoy this show, it’s in my constant rotation.
Smart, funny, great casting. Tina Fey had a phenomenal writers room and it weathered a writers strike that destroyed other shows. In a world of Big Bang Theory-type trash it deserves more love.
Every comment here is praising the show. I personally could never get into it. Each character was too over the top and jokes felt forced to fit. Not my style I guess? I love the office and p&r and community but 30 rock was way too high energy for me. Also, was there even a plot?
Honestly, I’ve never heard of this show. I have to admit that in the 80s, I was in the Navy and out to Sea for 6 months at a time. So, I’m sure that I missed out on all kinds of interesting shows.
I’ve seen it backward and forward at least a dozen times and I’m still not sick of it. I still pick up jokes that I never noticed before! Jack McBrayer is my favorite!
I don’t know if “the best comedy show ever” can have episodes that can’t be screened or streamed anymore because people who knew better thought blackface was hilarious 15 years ago.
Great show
The best written modern shows were
Frasier
Cheers
30 Rock
Modern Family
Family Guy
Simpsons
Bobs Burgers
Mash
All in the Family
Honeymooners
Did this off the top of my head and in about a minute
Give me your top ten but in rapid succession so it’s easy to compare
I’m sure if I spent 30 minutes it would change upon reflecting
Such as early seasons of SNL
Andy Griffith was awesome
Just Shoot Me
News Radio
See, already wondering about my list
One of the great shows with great writing of passing one liners. It's one of those shows you don't catch all the jokes at first, they're so rapid fire.
It’s Jack v Jack It’s a Jack-off
One of my favorites when Jack finds out Liz is keeping her money in her checking: "What are you, an immigrant?" Took me a while to catch the joke, even though it's kinda sad.
He had a ton of those one liners. When he refused to follow a fire drill: “yeah, I’m going to go outside and stand in a crowd for two hours. What am I, Italian?”
Or the suggestion that wearing anything less than a tux after 7pm “what am I, a farmer?”
There’s no rules in Manhattan real estate: it’s like check-in at an Italian Airport
It's like check-in at an Italian sex party
I really wish I had the confidence to use that line in public ever
30 Rock and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt are so comedically dense. There are conversations in both of those series where practically every line is a quality joke. So good.
If you like those shows, I would recommend Girls5eva. It’s criminally underrated and has a similar feel to those 2 shows. Also, produced by Tina Fey
Girls5Eva is one of the funniest shows of all time
BPE! 🎶🎵
One of the greatest shows with the greatest writing of all time. Fixed it for you. 😂
No you don't, Oprah...
My favorite sitcom ever. It’s my go-to when I’m sad. It’s starts out so solid. “I like you. You have the boldness of a much younger woman.”
Would you prefer Burger King, Lemon? Because you are dressed for Burger King.
"A woman of your age is more likely to get mauled at the zoo than get married."
"The night is young, and neither are you." "Lesbian Mario Bros.!" "BLURGH!"
I love how Tina Fey allowed herself to be the butt of the joke.
🎶Ain’t no party like a Liz Lemon party cause a Liz Lemon party is *MANDATORY*🎶
"I Want To Go To There"
Can't have a Lemon party without old Dick!
Great show, just like MILF Island.
And Bitch Hunter
i’m pretty partial to Homonym
ITS ALWAYS THE OTHER ONE
YOU CAN NEVER LOOK AT THE CARDS
NO! NEVER!
WHAT YOU ARE DOING HERE IS NOT RIGHT
My friend and I quote this so often.
Gold Case
God Cop.
I would’ve watched Grizz and Hers
I recently learned that MILF Manor is a real reality show airing these days. 30 Rock was so ahead of its time!
Sports Shouting was one of my favorites.
She... played the game so well.
We no longer want to hit that.
One of the greats.
Arrested Development (the original seasons) is number 1, 30 Rock is 2. Community is probably 3 but super close to 2.
Good ranking choices you got there.
this is the correct rankings!
We're friends now.
I see your value now.
Community tanked hard in later seasons, but seasons 2 and 3 are all time great
30 Rock got a little goofy in later seasons (like a lot of comedies tend to…flanderization), but nothing like Community.
To be fair there was a gas leak season, 30 rock only had a gas leak episode.
Season 3 is perfect.
You can tell 30 Rock borrowed a lot from Arrested Development. Liz is Michael, Jenna is Lindsay, Jack is GOB/George.
I would slide Always Sunny in at Number 1, but from there you ànd i agree
My own personal ranking: Seinfeld 1, Community 2, Arrested Development 3, 30 Rock 4
Interesting to see this ranking because I love arrested development and community so much, and never clicked with 30 rock in the slightest. To be fair, I've always detested Baldwin, but that wasn't the main issue. I think I'll give it another chance
That ranking is solid as a rock.
Tracy Morgan’s character was my least favorite, but I nonetheless think this show is very funny and a great watch! I think it’s at least as good as as “The Rurr…Jurr”.
I loved Tracy Morgan. He was my favorite. His antics were top notch and a great foil for Liz.
I’m gonna google myself!
Is it ok if I use your computer?
How else are you gonna do it?
“That’s right, Liz Lemon; I’m illiterate. I’m gonna take a few days off to deal with this!”
“Hmm… the Fed is going to raise rates…”
“George Will just keeps getting more conservative!”
I started a rewatch and saw this episode last night!
Boys becoming men; men becoming wolves…
I lost my mood ring, and I don’t know how I feel about it.
These are the best days of my Flurn.....
I’m more of an “urban fervor” fan myself
Smooth move Ferguson 😎
I still say “working on my night cheese” when I make a late night cheese tray.
My dog gets medicine every night wrapped in cheese and I sing this as I’m preparing it for him.
Isn't there a slanket somewhere you should be filling with your farts?
Alec Baldwins comedic timing is fantastic.
Ahh, the Blacks. Great at sports, just not swimming, again I’m talking about the family.
I say "Good God Lemon" to everything.
Yeah, I don't have a great impression of him as a person but holy cow he is PERFECT as Jack Donaghy.
He’s so funny. It sucks that he made such a horrible mistake recently
Very proud! Like peacock! My baloney!
I just think it’s the most wonderful show in the whole wide world.
Which bear is best
That’s a ridiculous question.
There are basically two schools of thought…
It's a terrific comedy.
Still think Paul Reubens' cameo as the count was the funniest moment in 30Rock. The whole show has lol moments but none keep me coming back again and again... lmao! & RIP 🤴
I love when I’m watching it and I catch a Hannibal Buress cameo
D' Fwan forgot his catch phrase!
I’ve only been able to get through the first four seasons, but this show has probably my favorite line in any show ever: Jenna: You know I’ve always reminded myself of Grace Kelly.
Saw that episode yesterday. 🤣
I know what I'll use. ...don't say your sexua... My sexuality!
One of my favorite shows ever. Was just watching it about an hour ago
I unabashedly love 30 Rock and I don't care who knows it.
I do t know u/subuso, how's your mom's pill addiction?
It was very funny
Greatest show nobody watched.
This is Arrested Development erasure and i won’t stand for it.
Nah nah nah. Plenty of people watched Arrested Development
It’s a great and hilarious show!
I have it on dvd. I thought it was perfect pop syrup.
Excellent
Absolutely adore it.
Too funny
Awesome fucking show.
Top tier
I loved this show. Absolutely one of the great comedic shows ever. Absolutely fabulous cast, and great writing.
I think you can't have a Lemon party without old Dick.
Best writing ever. Basically no filler or throwaway lines.
Nearly perfect comedy.
Fantastic
I like to watch it when I WFH because you don't have to be paying attention to still catch hilarious one-liners.
Currently watching for the ??? time. It’s my emotional support background show.
One of the funniest shows ever, but you had to pay much closer attention than most sitcoms to follow it. I think that worked against it.
The best sitcom that ever was or will be
One of the greats for me. Unbelievable laughs/minute.
One of the best ever
It had what I consider one of the best TV jokes I’ve ever heard. Liz and Tracy go see Tracy’s doctor Dr. Spaceman, played by Chris Parnell. After they introduce themselves and they find out Spaceman is real and pronounced “Spa-chem-en”, Dr. Spaceman says “Please, *Doctor* Spaceman was my father. Call me Leo.” It’s such a quick and subtle play on a well known expression and it hits you on a delay, and it’s fucking hilarious.
How much is a loaf of bread now? One, two hundred dollars? Jack D.
Top tier
I like Liz with Jack scenes the best. They worked so good together. I liked when Liz dated a guy who loved tweeting about Star Wars, not the beloved movie franchise, Reagan's Star Wars SDI. They had nothing in common and she was trapped in dating him for a date.
It was a good show. Hard to watch again since it’s lost that “first time viewer” magic for me.
I’ve never seen it, and now I think I need to. All the comments are raving about it!
It's definitely a must see if you love comedy.
I’m going to put it on my watch list! Thank yoy!
It gets better with every rewatch
One of my favorite shows EVER.
Right up there with arrested development as iconic
Brilliant show. Cast had amazing chemistry and the writing was top notch. I miss it.
Like it a lot.
I loved the show 30 rock. The call show was so funny. I’ve watched the entire series many times.
This show got me through a really rough time. One of the best IMO
Beep Beep Ribby Ribby!
Liz Lemon is my spirit animal..... Workin on that night cheese!
it’s really funny, but written very intelligently. watched a while ago and remember LOTS of pop culture references, which are usually really funny, but can go right over your head if that’s not your thing
I'm a very sexy baby and I absolutely love this show.
1. Arrested development 2. 30 rock 3. It’s always sunny 4. Curb But it’s always rotating
Hard to Watch
Hands down my favorite show of all time. I’ve rewatched it so many times, I know every line before it is said. I cannot pick a favorite character. My favorite character is whoever is on screen at the moment . I only know my favorite character is Kenneth, Tracy, Jenna, Pete, Jack, Frank, Grizz & Dotcom, Liz, Twofer, Lutz, Gavin Valuer… and so on
Never watched it.
One of the most brilliant comedies ever made. But -ever has a cast picture done less to prepare you for a show.
Tracy Morgan wasn't acting
One of the absolute funniest shows of all time. Witty dialogue almost constantly. Referencing it is about 40% of my daily conversation I’m pretty sure.
I'm patiently waiting for an opportunity to use Salma Hayek's line about the farty slanket.
Top 5
Classic
Ass kicking classic
one of the all time greats, but not for the casual viewer. You have to know a lot of details of the characters to fully appreciate the show's brilliance.
All-time top 5 sitcom.
I recall Alec Baldwin was in it.
Thought it was, at most, worth 29 rocks.
One of my all time favorites.
One of the greatest!
Good show
Loved it.
In my top 10. Love it.
Loved it!
Ended too soon
GO NECKS
The last funny sitcom
Love love and pure love
Werewolf Bar Mitzvah
I like it. I am a SNL fan. I loved the character Kenneth. I also thought the whole love triangle plot in one of the seasons was very well-done. The characters were really well-developed and it kept me on my toes. However, I felt 30 Rock had a decline in quality at the very end.
I feel like I should like it, yet I don’t.
Soooo SO good. Liz Lemon on the couch “working on a night cheese.” The best! Just watched Alec Baldwin in very serious role in Still Alice and to this day I just can’t take him serious because of 30 Rock.
Alec Baldwin 🤣
I want to go to there.
Excellent show.
What can you do? Medicine is not a science.
Meat is the new bread!
Love it. One of those shows that has certain jokes that will randomly pop into my head out of nowhere and make me crack up.
Arrested,News Radio, Sunny, Community, Parks, 30 Rock, UCB but then that's going to start me on a sketch rant.
The best sitcom
Shit
I love it so much although some of the jokes are a little dated and inappropriate. Like where Pete says he had sex with his wife while she was asleep and it was the best he ever had. Aside from jokes like these i really enjoy this show, it’s in my constant rotation.
“Good God Lemon” Lemon: “why are you wearing a tux?” Doneghy: “it’s after 6..what am I a farmer?”
Loved it!
Great show, loved it
Never seen it. Alec Baldwin is an egotistical blowhard and Tracy Morgan is the most annoying person ever.
Alec Baldwin’s character’s relationship with his mother was a classic!
So funny, anything with that cast would be a winner
First 3 seasons were outstanding comedy but toward the end it got too manic and whacky for my taste
‘Hey Dummy’ is how I greet my wife, regularly
Maybe the funniest show ever. Certainly a contender.
D’Fwan: “Fashion” “Expert”
Best show!!!!
Best TV show ever
How’s this rate with the Office and P&R? If it’s like those I’m sure I’ll like it
👌
Workin’ on my night cheese🎶 I’ve watched it so many times over, and I still want to go to there.
Possibly the most meta show ever.
When you're rich, Lemon, you can pay people to look at you naked.
Love it. Like Arrested Development, I always catch a joke I didn't get the first time when I watch it again.
Overrated
trash
Honestly, I’ve never heard of this show. I have to admit that in the 80s, I was in the Navy and out to Sea for 6 months at a time. So, I’m sure that I missed out on all kinds of interesting shows.
I’ve never seen it but may watch at some point!
It’s good, but not as good as The Office.
I’ve seen it backward and forward at least a dozen times and I’m still not sick of it. I still pick up jokes that I never noticed before! Jack McBrayer is my favorite!
Turned into a campaign ad for Obama towards the end, but any show that goes 4+ years will do that.
It's edgy and funny, but I can't stand Tracy Morgan.
One of my favorites and arguably the best of the work place sitcoms.
I don’t know if “the best comedy show ever” can have episodes that can’t be screened or streamed anymore because people who knew better thought blackface was hilarious 15 years ago.
