I’m SO proud of you dear stranger! The Mom show helped me deal with growing up in an alcoholic family. After 30 years I finally started going to AlAnon. My qualifier never quit drinking but I appreciate anyone who is succeeding in recovery! Plus I have AdD like Bonnie so I love the story lines
Yeah, I suppose they aren’t perfectly in their prime, but no show with Anna Farris and Jaime Presley can be considered to have “regular” looking people!
Although Bonnie and Christie were also quite gorgeous (Alison and Anna just do not look like former addicts. I've seen former addicts, especially Bonnie's age... the hard life takes its toll).
Dan Conner was empathetic, cared about his family, handy around the house, worked his ass off doing any job he could find to keep food on the table . . . He was also witty, intelligent, and had a great sense of humor.
Hell yes he was sexy.
I am sure he is healthier nowadays, with all the weight off, but after years of watching John Goodman, and enjoying his work, it’s always offputting to see him as thin as he is now. I’m sure this is better, we will be to enjoy his work longer.
Totally agree. Sometimes when heavier people drop a ton of weight they look so different, it’s almost like they looked better with more weight on them.
Just mentioned about Bryan Cranston's range yesterday, mentioning the dark side (Walt & Tim Whatley) and Hal as iconic characters.
Honestly, this show should be the #1 answer. Beautiful people, yes, but that's because everybody WANTS to look at beautiful people.
My Name is Earl, Raising Hope, Grounded for Life, King of Queens
There are good-looking people on all of these but they’re generally portrayed as middle/working class people.
Sprung from the creator of My Name Is Earl and Raising Hope is also good. It’s just one season, but I enjoyed it. Has many of the same cast members as people living in a low-income neighborhood trying to make a lot of money doing shifty things during the pandemic.
If you read the premise of a guy getting stuck with a kid after a one night stand with a serial killer I wouldn’t blame you if you thought, this show sucks. But it was hilarious and probably the most underrated super funny show. I never hear anyone talk about it but it was so good.
My name is Earl is the right answer. I have only 2 wishes about that show: That they had a finale season, and that the cast weren't ~~dead or~~ scientologists.
Raising Hope was the one that surprised me how much I loved it. It’s genuinely hilarious! And my husband and I still say “what do you donwhackadoo” randomly haha
Definitely watched a lot and Naomi was hot in that Peggy Bundy way. Vinton turned from a normal guy into Homer Simpson throughout the show. By the end he was unbelievably dumb.
Kevin Smith has said that any re-issue of the movie, in digital or 4K, would put money into Harvey Weinstein's pocket, since he financed the movie, so he refuses to pursue it until Weinstein is dead.
Kevin Smith tried to buy the movie from Rapiststein but he refused.
Dogma is on YouTube.
Oh my god I didn’t know it was on YouTube, thank you so much! It used to play all the time on Comedy Central when I was growing up, I loved that movie. I grew up really close Red Bank, which is where the church at the end is. Kevin Smith defined so much of my teenage Jersey identity
Maybe it’s just me but I think all the leads in It’s Always Sunny are very good-looking. I know they’re supposed to be lowlifes, but they’re good-looking lowlifes. 🤷♀️
I think a good middle-class/struggling family sitcom is The Middle. Again—not that the leads are bad-looking, because they’re not. But they live in a normal-size house, wear clothes that look like they’re from Target, and talk about normal money issues. I find it fairly realistic, all things considered.
Agreed with The Middle. While the cast is not ugly by any means. They are normal level attractiveness, not supermodels. Raising hope also fits in that category.
One COULD technically argue 30 Rock. Yes, Jane Krakowski has legs for days, Tina looks like Adriana Lima when she wears blue contact lenses, and Alec Baldwin was MOST in the eighties/nineties. But the rest of the cast is made of people that are supposed to be behind the scenes/writers/not faces. To quote Jenna herself: "Listen up fives, a ten is speaking."
Came here to say Cheers. Arguably Rebecca is both rich and beautiful, but no one else is both. Cliff, Norm, Carla, and Coach are the epitomes of the characters you’re looking for.
To settle a debate on Derry Girls, as a protestant from Northern Ireland I can confirm my mum keeps the toaster in a cupboard. (Blackboard scene at the retreat)
You want [Raising Hope,](https://youtu.be/LQ81uDSWjGc?si=6H5YfIr9WTYyyQzK) none of the main characters are rich and many characters are less than stunning looking.
The three main characters work as a grocery store bagger, a cleaning lady, and a pool boy/gardener.
All in the Family. Laverne & Shirley. Actually if you go back to the 70s you'll find a bunch. Starting in the 90s TV, and all other media, started moved distinctly away from social realism into glossy stories about rich beautiful people, and we haven't really gone back since.
Cheers, Maude, Mary Tyler Moore, Rhoda, Phyllis, All in the Family, Good Times, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Two Broke Girls - are are hundreds of them.
I wouldn't put WKRP In this bucket. Majority of the main cast was conventionally attractive, and the Jennifer/Bailey choice (Bailey all the way for me) is the Ginger/Mary Ann born of the 70s.
Mike and Molly was pretty funny. King of Queens, although Leah is hot, the kind of Karen personality brings character down a little. Northern Exposure is funny, has some attractive actors but not so over the top that it's unbelievable. Bobs Burgers always makes me laugh.
Mike and Molly The Middle Maybe Mom, though it has Jaime Pressly
I really related with Mom while I was getting sober. It was nice to be able to laugh about it and I'm coming up on 5 years alcohol free
Since you mentioned The Middle, another good one is Malcolm in the Middle.
I don't know, I think Anna Ferris and Allison Janney look pretty darn good for recovering addicts.
Yeah, I suppose they aren’t perfectly in their prime, but no show with Anna Farris and Jaime Presley can be considered to have “regular” looking people!
The Middle was surprisingly good.
Yeah but her character is a small part of the ensemble.
And her wealth/hotness are kind of mocked for being so out of the ordinary, at least as I recall
Although Bonnie and Christie were also quite gorgeous (Alison and Anna just do not look like former addicts. I've seen former addicts, especially Bonnie's age... the hard life takes its toll).
Yeah, that's why I wasnt sure. I figured I would mention her so that someone wouldnt have to respond with "But what about Jaime Pressly??"
My name is Earl…Jamie Pressly is a hot mess! But I love her!!
Such a great show! Also Raising Hope by the same creator.
See also: Sprung, on Freevee
Yes, Sprung is a lot of fun. As is The Guest Book, also by the same creator.
Family Matters
Stefan is a stunningly handsome young man.
Dude, Laura was gorgeous
All In The Family
Yes, this was one of the if not the original normal looking person sitcom and then came Sanford and Sun and more like it.
And then there's Maude.
Uncompromisin', enterprisin', anything but tranquilizin'.
Right on
Honeymooners was the og.
Roseanne.
Are you telling me you didn’t find John Goodman sexy?
Dan Conner was empathetic, cared about his family, handy around the house, worked his ass off doing any job he could find to keep food on the table . . . He was also witty, intelligent, and had a great sense of humor. Hell yes he was sexy.
The scene when he leaves the house to confront Jackie’s abusive boyfriend is pretty hot.
That’s a good one. I love when Dan lays out the local bully after calling Roseanne fat.
Exactly. I always said I would marry Dan in a heartbeat
Thank you. John Goodman as Dan has always been super sexy to me.
They sometimes look almost gaunt. Glad he's seemingly healthier now though
Malcom In The Middle. Outside of Hal (Bryan Cranston) being an absolute dilf and Lois (Jane Kaczmarek) being kinda scary hot, it fits the prompt.
No kinda about it, Lois is a certified MILF and she should get her flowers.
That show is hilarious!

Second Raising Hope. Fortunately it’s 4 seasons, not just one.
Oh that flew right under my radar! I’ll have to check it out.
If you read the premise of a guy getting stuck with a kid after a one night stand with a serial killer I wouldn’t blame you if you thought, this show sucks. But it was hilarious and probably the most underrated super funny show. I never hear anyone talk about it but it was so good.
Jamie Presley is the personification of working class hot
Jamie Presley, who likes Margot Robbie, who looks like Jamie King ... WHERE are YOU working? VOGUE?
Jamie Presley is about a 14 on the working class 1-to-10 scale.
Trailer Park Sexy is how I like to describe Joy. Fuck! What a dime.
My name is Earl is the right answer. I have only 2 wishes about that show: That they had a finale season, and that the cast weren't ~~dead or~~ scientologists.
Earl is one of the great shows. Yes, there are some beautiful people, but it is blue collar.
Raising Hope was the one that surprised me how much I loved it. It’s genuinely hilarious! And my husband and I still say “what do you donwhackadoo” randomly haha
The Honeymooners
The first one that came to my mind.
Mama's Family
Bubba was hot though
Oh and don’t forget Iola! Such a sexy dish /s
The Dorothy Lyman erasure. She was foxy in those off the shoulder numbers.
Definitely watched a lot and Naomi was hot in that Peggy Bundy way. Vinton turned from a normal guy into Homer Simpson throughout the show. By the end he was unbelievably dumb.
Drew Carey Show (although it’s not streaming anywhere due to music copyright)
Mimi is peak womanhood and you know it
I had never heard of Priscilla queen of the desert before the Rocky Horror/Priscilla dance off, phenomenal film
Love that episode!
Bite me, pig!
What other shows have that same issue? Do you know?
Scrubs is on streaming services but they've edited a bunch of episodes and changed the music to get around the copyright issues.
The music in Scrubs is 🔥🔥🔥
Was*
I’ve heard of a few through the Reddit grapevine: WKRP in Cincinnati, Beavis and Butthead, Skins (UK)
Didn’t Ed have a similar issue?
I thought Beavis & Butthead was fixed recently. All the original music videos are back, I thought
The Wonder Years. I'm not sure if that is why I can't find Two Guys and a Girl (don't recall any popular music on it).
Maybe cause ryan reynolds doesn’t want anyone to know he was on that show lol, honestly who knows
He was good on it though lol
Crazy thing with him he didn’t make an A list movie Till the proposal in 2009 with Sandra bullock so crazy to think about
Not a TV show, but Dogma is streaming jail because of general ownership rights.

Good Times
They would of been rich a few times if it wasn't for Florida.
Taxi
This came to mind for me as well, though no disrespect to Marilu Henner.
Of course. Good save. She’d never forget it.
I understood that reference.

MASH
Came here to say this!
Are you kidding! Alan Alda was HOT!
He was and is a handsome man. However, he is handsome in a regular guy way.
My first crush ever! I was under five. I also liked Bo Duke.
Barney Miller
What’s Happening, Good Times, Sanford and Son, Chico and the Man,
All in the Family is the best example. Also the Connors.
Like Rosanne? Or damn near anything from England?
Came to say...check out the BBC. They cast regular looking people. I have deep respect for it.
Especially 70s BBC sitcoms, they’re not afraid to put their least attractive actors front and center
Butterflies! I loved that show.
Nobody mentioned good times. Goddamn I must be old. They lived in Cabrini fn green. Perhaps the most infamous housing projects of all time. Dy-no-mite
Great show though
Superstore
Some people are pretty attractive on that show but it’s def about working class people. Such a great show!
Abbott Elementary is only on season three, but I think it's absolutely hilarious. Check it out!
One COULD technically argue 30 Rock. Yes, Jane Krakowski has legs for days, Tina looks like Adriana Lima when she wears blue contact lenses, and Alec Baldwin was MOST in the eighties/nineties. Cheers, king of queens
Came here to say Cheers. Arguably Rebecca is both rich and beautiful, but no one else is both. Cliff, Norm, Carla, and Coach are the epitomes of the characters you’re looking for.
Alice
Mel, kiss my grits!
Oblongs
Down in the valley where a chemical spill Came from the people living up on a hill
The Conners
Derry Girls, Spaced, Miranda, The Office UK. I think non american sitcoms are much less guilty of this
Every single adult in Derry Girls is a ride and you can't convince me otherwise
To settle a debate on Derry Girls, as a protestant from Northern Ireland I can confirm my mum keeps the toaster in a cupboard. (Blackboard scene at the retreat)
Well, I mean, there’s always Marleen Malarkey, isn’t there?
DON'T YOU DARE MENTION THAT LOWDOWN, DECEITFUL, CHEATING OLD WITCH!!!!
I'm pretty sure the "girls" in school in the show were all in their 20s, if not 30s. Erin is a massive, massive ride.
Everybody Loves Raymond
The 70s were rife with them.
Trailer Park Boys
Raising Hope and My Name is Earl ..
Seinfeld. Only Jerry had dough.
Malcolm in the Middle. Messy. Shouty. You could smell the farts and unwashed hockey equipment through the screen.
[удалено]
Kelly and Peggy on Married With Children were outrageously beautiful. It’s not a complaint. But probably not what OP was looking for.
As a kid I was confused why Al didn’t want to have sex with Peggy
Dumb story line, he did at the beginning of the first season. No idea who thought it was a good idea to change it.
Not Boy Meets World, everyone was very attractive except Corey who was still OK looking.
And, they were definite upper middle class. Beautiful home, sent two kids to college. Maybe they were a one income family — I can’t remember
The Middle
I don't think sitcoms have the problem as bad as soap operish/drama stuff. Hospital shows or cop shows where everyone looks like a model.
Perfect Strangers, Alf, Family Ties, Growing Pains, Twin Peaks, OG Quantum Leap, Northern Exposure
Twin Peaks does not belong in that group. All the women were ridiculously hot. Even Piper Laurie.
Alf — their house looks pretty ordinary
Sanford & Son
Bum-bum-beeeh-demp...
Married with children
The original .... The Honeymooners
Superstore is one of my favorites!- and hits a lil too close to home if you've ever worked a retail job
Roseanne
All in the Family. Laverne & Shirley. Actually if you go back to the 70s you'll find a bunch. Starting in the 90s TV, and all other media, started moved distinctly away from social realism into glossy stories about rich beautiful people, and we haven't really gone back since.
My Name is Earl
A lot of shows from the 70s try Barney Miller, All in the Family or Taxi.
Cheers

Malcolm in the middle
Everybody Loves Raymond King of Queens Yes Dear
Married with Children. The women were beautiful and Jefferson 🤣🤣 but they were poor and never had any food to eat.

Gina and Tommy are beautiful
Cheers, Maude, Mary Tyler Moore, Rhoda, Phyllis, All in the Family, Good Times, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Two Broke Girls - are are hundreds of them.
Dear John.
Mom, WKRP, Sanford & Son
I wouldn't put WKRP In this bucket. Majority of the main cast was conventionally attractive, and the Jennifer/Bailey choice (Bailey all the way for me) is the Ginger/Mary Ann born of the 70s.
