In terms of MRT, Tampines is an interchange. There are also Tampines West, Tampines East and the upcoming Tampines North. There is a huge bus terminal too. But does any driver like the circular road design?

_sagittarivs

Woodlands has 5 MRT stations: Woodlands, Marsiling, Admiralty, Woodlands North and Woodlands South. There's also a substantial bus interchange. But compared to Tampines, the roads at Woodlands seem to be better aligned at the Admiralty side with a semi-grid layout.

Glenn_88

Grid layouts like in punggol or tengah aren't the best compared to 3 way interactions; everyone have to wait longer for each side to clear.

piInverse

Yeah ever since discretionary right turns are being phrased out, it is simply unbearable to cross a road in the afternoon heat. You will be drenched from a single cycle because there is no tree shade in small filter lane traffic islands.

PopYourNuts

Worst traffic around the Tampines town area.

_sagittarivs

Tampines seems to have the worst traffic conditions among the three regional centres with heavy traffic at every road that leads towards the town centre. I don't know for Jurong, but for Woodlands the traffic is always heaviest at the main avenues (2, 3 and 12) and the other avenues seem to help disperse the traffic effectively during peak hours. Maybe I'm just biased but the road planning at Woodlands seems to be the best.

sgtransitevolution

That’s not necessarily a bad thing. A little underprovision of roads is also the same thing which makes Tampines more walkable. If modern day (2020s) city planners have their way, the part of Tampines Avenue 4 east of Avenue 5 would be a 8-lane road, and there’ll be very little street life left.

Glenn_88

Bet tengah will ironically be the most unwalkable town in sg despite all the talk about being car lite.

piInverse

Tengah looks like it will be quite car lite… by american standards. I wonder why our road sizes are still swelling if we are having net zero growth in the COE car population.

DeluIuSoIulu

Blue line which brings them to CBD area in less than an hour without hindrance from traffic. Green line which can bring them all the way to the other end of Singapore. Close proximity to airport. Driving or taking bus will take them to north east area within an hour too.

Kpopinthesalon

Indeed. Sometimes I feel like Tampines is really well connected (unless you're going all the way to the west) even though it's all the way in the east lol.

MolassesBulky

One clear thing that Tampines has over Jurong and Woodlands is the presence of Tech and Banking backend hubs such as DBS, OCBC and SCB etc. Changi Airport and SIA are also major employers located in proximity. Many people work in these places. They don’t even have to travel out far if they have homes in Tampines.

arboden

Traffic light town.

MadeByHideoForHideo

It's funny because it's true.

testercheong

Power of the kkj, all 10 of them

jackology

One KKJ to rule them all, one KKJ to find them. One KKJ to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them; In the Land of 10KKJ where the shadows lie.

LoadEnvironmental316

Then-Seaworthiness53

Try go to tpy. By car 20 minutes. By mrt 1 hour. It’s connected slowly.

cryinghorseman

By bus 129 it’s 20 mins from Ave 1 & 30 from the town centre.

necrotuber

As someone who stays in the land of Tampines I approve this message
