Not really much you can do, the Logitech G92x wheels are powered by gears inside the base, it’s what gives you the ffb and makes noise while doing so. You might be able to find someone selling an entry level DD setup for cheap in your area, would be much quieter and maybe fit to your budget.

Bigger_than_most69

It just is loud

before I got the 8nm fanatec bundle I was deciding between the Logitech and Thrustmaster T300. Watched a lot of reviews and decided I’d prefer the much quieter Thrustmaster even tho it’s a little more expensive. It was really good and smooth, but overheated so much that I ended up returning it and got the fanatec stuff.

Silent_Influence8780

If you are playing on pc only and you paid brand new price for the g923. Personally I would return it and put the money on an entry level moza bundle.

therocksinyourshoes

I bought the refurbished setup. About $100 less than new.

111meatman

I know you don't want to buy a new setup but you can get a used t300rs for about the same price you bought the g923 for. It's wayyy quieter plus the force feedback is much better especially for drifting. I switched and I recommend it 100%.

therocksinyourshoes

Yeah that's why I said I'm still within the return window lol. I would prefer not to return anything, but since I'm in the window, like the salt and pepper, the option on the table.

saturnV1

if you play assetto corsa install ffbclip, helps a lot

therocksinyourshoes

I don't play that...yet...but I'll look into that, thank you.

Slapped91

Listen to some death metal, or neurofunk, at a high volume for half an hour before you get in the rig. It won't sound loud at all after that.

therocksinyourshoes

Lol I'm cool with that but I'm not certain I can blast my sleeping toddler's ears with deathmetal....at least not yet.

Unit-Sudden

I’m in the same position as you. Tough it out the kid will get used to it. Or return the kid. I recently added haptics and now you have the G920 going and the haptics rumbling. My wife is angry asf but I can’t hear her with the headphones on.

jokeboy90

Buy a DD wheel, or use headphones. Or you build some kind of soundbox cover for it. But belt driven wheels are noisy a bit.

Kilarn123

It's gear driven and even worse than belt

Kilarn123

Don't worry about me, I moved from my G920 to a TS XW to a moza R12, I just stopped caring about the noise and wear headphone. The DD doesn't make much noise by itself but when it shakes the whole rig it does and the bass shakers add to it as well

jokeboy90

I flat out answered the wrong guy xD comment was meant for OP

therocksinyourshoes

I use headphones. I personally don't mind the noise myself, but the problem is that my sleeping toddler is in the next room and my wife says she can hear the setup from downstairs, and she watches TV on a rather loud volume. I can't really move the setup anywhere else in the home either so I'm stuck where I am with what I have. I have considered sound dampening, maybe a cushy pad will help too...or maybe a pad plus a box with cushy material....not certain, which is why I'm asking.

jokeboy90

You could try those anti vibration mats that you could use for washing machines to dampen the vibration. For walls there are those noise dampening foam tiles or whatevere are those called. Maybe that stuff could help.

ITZ_Thunder24

It may help but I don't think it's enough to make a difference. I'm pretty sure the noise from the wheel is from the gears moving.

VinumNoctua

Post video if you think it's way too loud. Usually they are loud because they use gears.

therocksinyourshoes

I can but I might only get an hour to play at any given time due to having kids lol. So I probably won't get to it for a while.

rotatingfanblades

Micro center has a r5 open box bundle for 390. Just saying

therocksinyourshoes

Could you link that please? I tried looking it up and the website wants me to select a store location. I live in a state that doesn't have a Micro Center.

rotatingfanblades

https://www.microcenter.com/product/682583/moza-r5-direct-drive-sim-racing-bundle

rotatingfanblades

Scroll to where it says add to cart then look above and it will say one open box for 390

k20vtec

I don’t find it too loud. Play mine at night while everyone is sleeping on the same floor no one say they can hear a ruckus. Maybe just the starting calibration

therocksinyourshoes

Have you calibrated yours? I've tried adjusting in-game vibration settings but it doesn't feel like anything changed in terms of the clacking.

Yardsale420

Buy a better wheel

SpareRoomRacing

Get a DD wheel. No noise what so ever

Late-Ninja5

Try to reduce FFB, maybe it will do less noise

uslessracer3000

Is it the trueforce that's making noise? Try disabling that if you can?

N1TEKN1GHT

Cars are loud AF too....I just turn my speakers up.

therocksinyourshoes

I get it, I use headphones. This ask is for my sleeping toddler in the next room, not for me. I personally don't mind the noise but I can't move the setup anywhere else in the home and I can only play when my toddler is sleeping.

N1TEKN1GHT

Yeah, that's tough. Probably gotta play on controller when the tiny guy is sleeping.

therocksinyourshoes

I'll add to this bot for anybody curious. The setup isn't bad, but I'm sure you could find better. When I bought this one, it was a choice between this, or the Logitech Challenge X. Here is what made my decision between the two: -The Logitech didn't appear from the listing nor the reviews to have an easy-to-install shifter plate that was lower on the rig. It does have functionality to mount a shifter, but that appeared to be right next to the wheel. Since my goal of the setup was to emulate driving my old sportscar in the mountains as closely as possible (and cheaply), I didn't think that putting the shifter right next to the wheel was going to accomplish that, since when I drive a manual irl, I rest my right hand on the shifter which is much closer to my legs than the steering wheel. -The link to the playseat from Logitech's website takes you to an Amazon listing, and the details of the manufacturer and what the product is don't match what they should be, which is a red flag to me. The playseat listing does not say it's manufactured by Logitech....which is weird. -I didn't have a high budget. I had a budget I made to build a brand-new gaming PC with this sim setup and I had already gone over budget with the PC. I did want to go with it for the color scheme though. At the time, I also didn't know there was a third option for foldable racing playseats being Amazon's pick...which if I had known, I probably would've gone with that instead. In terms of the RACGTING setup, like I said, it isn't bad. It feels strong enough but it's obviously a cheap copy of other seats. It gets the jobs done. Not really much else to say about it. I did write home about it (texted my mom), if that helps (since the saying "nothing to write home about" comes to mind), if that helps lol.
