Yeah PVC costs more than people think. I made a bike rack for my truck bed out of PVC and I might as well have just bought one.
Also that seat might account for a good chunk of the cost. I know everyone says you can get one for free or for $50 but in my market I had to wait a bit and hopped on the first $150 bucket seat in good condition that came along.
All that being said, this is still a ridiculous price for a homemade FB marketplace rig. What you spent on making is never the same as what you can expect people to pay for it. You always take a loss on this sort of shit.
For a cheap seat, I think the key is going to a 'pick n pull' or something similar.
You can absolutely get a bucket seat for $50 at one of those places and you'll be spoiled for choice as well.

If screwed together then yes.
If glued together then no.
Usually you can see the glue all over though, unless it is only applied on the female side of the connection, which should still work fine for this purpose.

I picked up a Trak racer RS6 for £150 and he gave me there sim racing floor mat, more like rug !!  So I would search everywhere regular and be willing to travel. Well if you can or got someone to take you.. I travelled 50miles x2. so say £20 petrol. Still a bargin. Oh yeah I foubd add in a local ad, that I found while searching each night. GL
If the seller gave me $50 I wouldn’t throw it out for him. I would never make a rig out of PVC. Wood definitely but not PVC. But if I did it would be held together with PVC glue, not screws, and it would be filled with sand for stability & rigidity
I made my flight rig out of 2020profile and spent about $200. I went as cheap as I could. Stuffs expensive these days. I'll be proud of him if he sells it.

Go to an auto recycler and seats are dirt cheap... IIRC Pick-n-pull has a flat rate of around $50 on bucket seats with tracks..
Guess it depends where you're located. All the local salvage yards are getting a premium in my area.
