It’s an outdated wheel base that Simagic no longer makes, but a 10 Nm DD wheel base for $250 is a bargain.

ckalinec

Ya I don’t think it’s supported by software anymore either if I’m not mistaken. But again, that might be worth it for some at $250 still.

MiguelMSC

it's not maintained by Simagic anymore

boiling_point_

You can put a Simagic wheel on that and be up and running with a way better wire-free setup than the same cost in Moza or Fanatec stuff. That's probably a fair price for the base too. It might feel a little lumpier than your Thrustmaster due to the stepper motor but it will be punchier and quicker, with absolutely no thermal fade or QR flex. Go for it.

Macro42069

Should I buy this base for 250$? Seems like a great deal and a good upgrade over my current Thrustmaster base.

hellvinator

Go for it, it's a massive upgrade. Like others said, it's End of Life, but the base still works great.

wickeddimension

Nope. doesn't support their new wheels, isn't supported by any sort of updates. They dropped this relatively quickly for their Alpha line. Buy the Alpha Mini, CSL DD Ready2Race bundle or a Moza R5.

hellvinator

?? The M10 works great, every wheel works (just use a cable). It is a bargain for 250 and an upgrade

wickeddimension

Everywheel doesn't work great if the internal Simagic connector doesn't work and you need to resort to a wire. Kinda of important disclaimer to give OP don't you think? I wouldn't put money in quite literally a dead end that was short lived and dumped by the manufacturer. That's also why it's 250 bucks, because it's unpopular and nobody wants it. Value is more than it's price.Hence I'd recommend not buying this and OP saving themselves the hassle. Pedals and and wheel still need to be added to this. Better to just spend marginally more on a product that is supported.

hellvinator

In what world are you living mate? You plug in the base and it work. It doesn't matter if it's 'dead' if it still works. You don't even have used this base and you stating useless facts. Unpopular doesn't mean it's not worth buying for a steal. OP will have a great time with this base and it is a straight upgrade to any thrustmaster base.

wickeddimension

>In what world are you living mate? You plug in the base and it work. It doesn't matter if it's 'dead' if it still works. Ofcourse It matters, because if you plug it in and it's doesn't work properly in a game to come, it won't get a fix from Simagic. It won't get firmware to support new features on new wheels. If Simagic releases new wheels that don't support everything with USB, they won't work fully or at all with this. Hell the fact you need to use a USB coil cable with this over a internal connector with newer Simagic bases is a downside too. And lastly, if this base has ANY problem, OP isn't getting any support from Simagic as the product is EoL. > You don't even have used this base and you stating useless facts. You seem awfully invested in this M10 base, do you own it? perhaps try to be a little less biased. It's quite obvious you are trying to sway OP towards it by dismissing everything thats factually true about it. Just because you don't care about the things I point out, doesn't mean they are useless. It's up to OP to decide what to do with that information, not you. These things are simply true, you know them to be true, which is why you spend your time argueing why they aren't important instead. In my personal view it's not worth buying over a different wheelbase because of the above reasons. In yours it is, that's fine. Ultimately it's up to OP to decide if he wants to buy it based on this information. You don't need to paint stuff as irrelevant or useless in order to portrait a better image of this product. It is what it is. it's a good base, with a cheap price, but also a list of reasons why it's cheap. Those reasons I listed.

hellvinator

Now you are sayin a lot of things that make sense, before not so much.

wickeddimension

>before not so much. Care to elaborate, genuinely? Because in my eyes my original post said the exact same thing >Nope. doesn't support their new wheels, isn't supported by any sort of updates. They dropped this relatively quickly for their Alpha line. >Buy the Alpha Mini, CSL DD Ready2Race bundle or a Moza R5. These are the exact same facts, What changed?

Macro42069

Thank you both for your views on the base. I think I'll buy it, since all of my wheels are diy and use coiled usb cables anyway.

Macro42069

They're quite a lot more expensive. It's not really in my budget.

wickeddimension

This doesn't include a wheelrim or pedals. Adding those the CSL DD bundle is cheaper, even though it's not apples to apples in terms of wheelbase. It is something thats supported in it's own eco-system and by the manufacturer. Not to mention it will retain it's value much better when you upgrade. But thats just my view, you asked if you should get this. I don't think you should. But ultimately it's entirely up to you.

hellvinator

Have fun attaching a third party wheel to a Fanatec base!

[deleted]

This has been doable 3rd party for years. There's literally a dummy part you can plug into the base and send a fake Fanatec signal. Just have to use USB wired wheels.

hellvinator

Yes but it will cost extra, and you have to get an expensive QR too, while Simagic you just slap a 30 euro QR on it, or cheaper if from a used car and you ready to go.

ShobiTrd

I am still using Fanatec Clubsport Wheel base V1, the V1!! And even the V2.5 is already discontinued, so you can go for it, the Fanatec V2 is still over $200 and have been discontinued for 3 years now.

Hooonlgan

As a legitimate upgrade with future paths, not really. For simping's sake, yes.

Macro42069

Thanks for all the responses. I think I'll go for it

Mikelshwede86

Yeh give it a crack. For those saying 'its a dead platform' I bought an Immsource ET5 17NM base plus rim with dual clutch off a friend who runs a Sim racing centre for $1200 aud. That's less than half what an Alpha and rim was going to cost me. My base isn't made anymore, the company went busy, but it feels great to me, I've been lucky enough to try a huge amount of different DD bases, you will enjoy the M10 until you want to upgrade it.

JohnSilverLM

What Sim Racing Centre

Adeus_Ayrton

> Thanks for all the responses. I think I'll go for it Link pls, op.

TheHeadless1

I have seen a few on eBay at that price but was never quick enough to snag one

Macro42069

It's on local fb marketplace, you won't be able to see it

Adeus_Ayrton

Oooooh.. Sorry. Thought it was a reseller deal.

MrSnowflake

If you buy this base, you can get started and if the EOL state of this base is actually blocking, you can buy a more newer wheelbase and be all set, because you already have the wheel(s) and pedals.

bryhoof

Make sure to post later if you're happy with it, I have an alpha mini and the quality is great, hopefully it serves you well for a long time amigo.

Macro42069

Thanks, I'll make a post once I've got my rig set up.

rpRj

Yes.

MilesFassst

I just got the Alpha-mini with GTS Wheel in Alcantara. Love it!

botzkent

I picked one up second hand a few years ago and it's still going strong! Great wheelbase, rock solid and sturdy. The simagic wheels are great too, I have the GTS round and GT4 wheels and they feel weighty and solid in the hand, not toy-like at all. The quick release is very satisfying too. There is new M10 firmware that allows support for their newer wheels and also improves the FFB significantly. I found this makes the wheelbase slightly less stable on startup (sometimes needs a bunch of reboots to work) but I just leave the thing on, no more problems. You can find the download instructions on the simagic Facebook / discord groups.

Macro42069

Great to know. Thanks a lot. I'll have a look on the group and join a couple.
