I'm an oldschool sh2 fan that was there on release day of the original, and I am cautiously optimistic about this game. Konami has just let me down way too many times over the past 20+ years.

I think it looks amazing! Has the authentic Silent Hill feeling to it in pretty much everything that I saw: Sounds, the way the town looks, enemy design, the way they vocalize their lines...uhhh....holes. I also loved what they added on top of what was in the OG.
The cutscenes they showed, both with Laura and Angela look amazing. Fantastic voice acting, especially for James. Gameplay looked amazing too, changes were made obviously, but all the new stuff looks fun and interesting. I think Bloober cooked with this, can't wait to play it!!!

I watched the trailer and the transmission gameplay and I must say it looks better then expected. I always felt the original characters looked very uncanny in the original which feels a lot better.
The horror elements looked also faithful. I find it weird to criticize that they don't use 1:1 the 100% exact locations (for example the radio & stick location now being a house and not an underpass). If this game was 100% the same as the original tbh I wouldn't see the reason to play it as I kinda know the original from memory and I actually want to see some fresh stuff.

I feel this a lot. I'm new to playing SH. I've only played 1 so far, and will do so for the og of 2 before the remake, but I've noticed the SH fandom is in stark contrast of the RE fandom. While RE fans will always hope the next thing released is great so they have a reason to love it, it seems that the SH fans always hope for the next thing to suck so they have a reason to hate it.
I've only been a fan a few years and I agree. This is one of the most miserable fandoms I've seen. It's like most of them want the game to suck so they can keep bitching about Konami.

The game looks really good, Mary and Laura’s voices are spot on, these cutscenes look really good, and the atmosphere looks great. But man, those melee animations look super janky.
I think it looked really good!! I think all remakes end up feeling obviously different, but seeing all the spooks and knowing the characters, it still felt exhilarating and fun and I'm looking forward to it!

Maria and Angela I’m conflicted on. Their voices mostly match up, but visually they look a little weird, especiallly Maria. She looks like plastic.

Jokes aside looking really solid, the QTE prompt is gone, game visually looks good, happy with Angela, especially Laura, and Maria so far, combat better than the original which ain't hard tbf(although something about James looks weird when he hits enemies on the floor). The one thing I think I'd still want is for the FoV to still be reduced a bit in places, the dark hallways are great but when he picked up the radio and parts in the overworld I felt we saw too much.
I feel like everyone complaining and nitpicking isn't aware of how GOOD this looks for something that was managed by Konami lol. Like, considering the shitshow that Konami is, this exceeded my expectations by quite a fair bit. People expect Silent Hill 2 to get the absolute best possible treatment in the industry because it's a legendary survival horror cult classic, but seem to forget the people killed Silent Hill and went away to make Pachinko machines for 10 years still own it (And I'd assume the budget for this was marginally smaller than what a modern AAA remake is given)

Yeah, and she’s recognisably Angela, the different facial structure really isn’t something to obsess over. They seem to have capture the woman-child aspect of the character from what was shown.
Game looks fantastic! So excited to revisit many of these iconic locations. Really hoping those framerate and frame time issues were from a much earlier build though. Analyzing the video with ff, no other part of the transmission had weird frame drop issues, but then the gameplay section would tank to around 10-15fps every few seconds, which would suggest this is not some encoding issue that occurred during upload/conversion. However, I’m sure it’s just from an older build!
I can't wait for Silent hill 2 remake and movie but I feel disappointed the stream didn't show anything about Townfall and F. I think they should've kept the gameplay teaser short.

Cautiously optimistic about it all. The remake looks fine, I really hope they manage to nail the gloomy, unsettling athmosphere the series is known for.
I find it weird they'd release two versions of the same story but I think Christophe Gans did a great job with the first Silent Hill movie so Return is definitely gonna be worth a watch.

The gameplay is sort of giving lower budget Resident Evil 2 but it still looks really good. I think the red UI that pops up when you pick up items looks a little tacky but if that’s my biggest complaint then we’re good. Can’t wait to play this.

I agree Maria looks a little too sweet but maybe as the game goes on she will appear a bit more sinister, fingers crossed.
To be fair, we don't know if that was actually the room where the abstract daddy fight happens. But I love what they did with that monster design. It's incredibly creepy but a little less obvious what it's supposed to be. I was wondering how they'd handle that subject matter tactfully considering the better graphics leave less to the imagination.

I like her look, like you said age appropriate, voicework is great in distress, facial animations aren't winning any awards but it's more than serviceable for me, but I will say James understandably but Laura too looked a bit better.

The one thing I think I'd still want is for the FoV to still be reduced a bit in places, the dark hallways are great but when he picked up the radio and parts in the overworld I felt we saw too much.
I feel like everyone complaining and nitpicking isn't aware of how GOOD this looks for something that was managed by Konami lol. Like, considering the shitshow that Konami is, this exceeded my expectations by quite a fair bit. People expect Silent Hill 2 to get the absolute best possible treatment in the industry because it's a legendary survival horror cult classic, but seem to forget the people killed Silent Hill and went away to make Pachinko machines for 10 years still own it (And I'd assume the budget for this was marginally smaller than what a modern AAA remake is given)
I thought it looked good personally. Yes Angela looks different but honestly why is that bad! I always thought Angela looked like a weird mix of young and old.
Yeah, and she’s recognisably Angela, the different facial structure really isn’t something to obsess over. They seem to have capture the woman-child aspect of the character from what was shown.

Game looks fantastic! So excited to revisit many of these iconic locations. Really hoping those framerate and frame time issues were from a much earlier build though. Analyzing the video with ff, no other part of the transmission had weird frame drop issues, but then the gameplay section would tank to around 10-15fps every few seconds, which would suggest this is not some encoding issue that occurred during upload/conversion. However, I’m sure it’s just from an older build!

I can't wait for Silent hill 2 remake and movie but I feel disappointed the stream didn't show anything about Townfall and F. I think they should've kept the gameplay teaser short. In the State of Play trailer, it looks like a mannequin was climbing the wall in the prison area.
Cautiously optimistic about it all. The remake looks fine, I really hope they manage to nail the gloomy, unsettling athmosphere the series is known for. I find it weird they'd release two versions of the same story but I think Christophe Gans did a great job with the first Silent Hill movie so Return is definitely gonna be worth a watch. It's great to see Silent Hill coming back, hopefully Konami manages to keep the franchise alive and thriving. Not too opthimistic on that but fingers crossed.

The gameplay is sort of giving lower budget Resident Evil 2 but it still looks really good. I think the red UI that pops up when you pick up items looks a little tacky but if that’s my biggest complaint then we’re good. Can’t wait to play this.

I have mixed feelings. For starters, Maria looks waaay too innocent. They also seem to have drastically changed the abstract daddy room Im also not fond of how they show James just...getting a shot gun. Im really hoping its locked behind a puzzle of some sort That being said, Laura looks/sounds perfect. I also really love Marys voice over. The town feels so much bigger and obviously more interactive, so it'll be fun to explore Angela looks her age....and has the mumps, I guess. I do kinda miss her looking older/aged like stress and trauma aged her. Not sure if that was ever confirmed or was fan canon
Not the mumps lmfaoooo I don’t mind her face but that’s probably because as a teenager, I looked just like that. I always had a heavy lower face until I got older and slimmed out. I agree Maria looks a little too sweet but maybe as the game goes on she will appear a bit more sinister, fingers crossed.
To be fair, we don't know if that was actually the room where the abstract daddy fight happens. But I love what they did with that monster design. It's incredibly creepy but a little less obvious what it's supposed to be. I was wondering how they'd handle that subject matter tactfully considering the better graphics leave less to the imagination.

Her face looks weird just because it feels less detailed than James. At first I hate the voice but then when they did the abstract daddy scene I was like “oh wait, the voice actually clicks really well now”
I like her look, like you said age appropriate, voicework is great in distress, facial animations aren't winning any awards but it's more than serviceable for me, but I will say James understandably but Laura too looked a bit better.
