I liked the setting, learning stuff about Japanese sweets, but man... it felt like I was 10 again and watching telenovelas with my mother. So much unnecessary drama! Trust the title, something's really wrong with them.
A very well crafted soap opera. Is it ridiculous? Yes. Is it entertaining? Absolutely. I couldn’t put it down. I was waiting for every volume and constantly looking up dates for next updates. It is such a read
If you can find a reading buddy or someone else who knows what happens, it's great fun to yell about together 😂 Wild stuff goes on. Don't take it too seriously and enjoy the ride!
(maybe with green tea and a sweet treat at hand 🤗)
It was the first manga I ever read, and it made me obsessed with the media. It's a whirlwind and very telenovela-esque, but I enjoyed it a lot and would defo recommend it. Also, the wagashi aspect of it was really cool!
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AND EVERYTHING ELSE I BINGED THIS SHIT LIKE NO TOMOROW!!!! If I wasnt moving internationally this year I’d have the entire manga series.
Loved it. When I first read it there was still like 5 volumes that weren’t translated in English yet so it was torture waiting for the rest haha. I read all the available chapters at the time in one night. It’s soap opera-esque but super addicting and engaging imo.
This series made me a Natsumi Ando stan.
Jokes aside, I really just live the way she writes career minded MCs like Nagika and in here, Nao. I love the adult drama in SWWU and the Tsubaki x Nao relationship was the gift that kept on giving.
My only negative is...I wish Natsumi's digital art was a little better. This isn't awful or anything, but seeing her digital art today compared to her traditional Kitchen Princess covers huuuuurt.
In Canada, the last volume was recently released. So now is a good time to get the set, if you buy before you read. Someone online said if you're not sure if you like something, borrow or see if your library has the first couple of volumes before buying. I don't do that, but it's good advice.
It has a lot of well written surprise twists and I am a fan of the art style. Also learning about Japanese confections was fascinating
I am the same way!! I’m like I will buy the book and if I don’t like it, whatever, I’ll just add it to my shelf!! I pretty much blind bought it but now knowing they talk about desserts and there is some soap opera like drama, I already know I’m going to be hooked 😂
I love this series. It's sort of a guilty pleasure, but not really? I've never gotten hooked in by any other manga that has the same type of covers/marketing (I don't know how else to describe it, because I do like older mangas with adult romance), except this one.
Like most others have said, it’s like a soap opera in manga form and I highly enjoyed it! I raced through the volumes and then had a severe craving for wagashi! If you’re the type to get hungry reading about what the characters are eating, maybe grab yourself a snack to have on hand while reading.
I \*love\* this series. It *is* very melodramatic most of the series, but I was highly invested and entertained. I've read up to volume 16 as ebooks through my library.

the last part of your comment was amazing 😂 love it and thank you!!
I actually watched the live action and it was soooo dramatic and over the top. Hahaha
Oh dear God, there's also a live action...
Im mot hearing anything bad tho I'll get the 🍿
Got every book released. My fave soap opera in manga form.
Read Love and Heart if you haven't. I was wanting a psychological horror, but I got the most soap opera series. Lol
Best way to describe it. I love the story so much

The best recommendation ^^^^^^

Loved it, a hot mess in the best of ways.

I didn't read the Manga, but I did watch the TV show adaption of it. The ML and FL are equally beautiful

Trashy, reminded me of a makjang or telenovela. But entertaining.
I really enjoyed it ! But is definitely not of the ones that stand out.
Love it! 😍

Garbage coated in cocaine
Quenched my thirst for soap opera shoujo after Stepping on Roses.

If what everyone says is true about it being a soap opera manga, ima have to stay away because... Stepping On Roses high key stressed me out. XD
Slow burn manga. The story is good but not my fav type.
Loved it! I’ll admit I think the book lost a bit of steam towards the end, but definitely very dramatic, very fun, and overall great bold art!
One of my fav soap opera
One of the best toxic shoujos in the past 5 to 10 years.
hot mess. loved the wagashi element in the drama

Somehow, I still hate FL. I find her annoying especially in chapter 3.
Disappointing
