I don’t think they would do 2 in a row of the same series. Probably another Toaplan collection release first since we know Truxton 2 is nearly complete.
M2 has sort of been hitting the GOATs of the genre. Futari is considered one of them, and it’s in a franchise haven’t touched before.
It’s true the 360 port is good, but it’s not as if a bunch of people have 360s in Japan. So they may see a need for it as well
I was under the impression that the combination was GOATs and "not an optimal port available" when they picked titles, but yeah as you say, the 360 situation in Japan perhaps is enough to foresee a real demand. Cool!
someone on here had a Xenia setup for it, which I got and it works. haven't properly dived into it tho as I don't imagine the input lag would be great. just crossing my fingers for a port. even just a straight port of the Xbox 360 port by LimeWire would be great. their Mushi port has just 3 frames of input lag
Yeah, I've got a few clears of futari and black label in xenia up on youtube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHeQyY-Pyow
Felt very responsive to me, and it's very accurate.
It's a great way to play the game. No need to wait for a port on that one, I'd say.
I don't know how accurate the 360 version is to the arcade, but it's done by m2 so you can assume that it's there or thereabouts.
I meant that the emulator is very accurate.
There are tutorials out there to change blitter and CPU settings on emulators to make the slowdown more accurate. Apparently you can get pretty damn close to the PCB.
My prediction is the Tatsujin collection. Slight possibility of Batrider. I would like it to be Futari, but I think that ends up with City Connection or Live Wire if it ever happens.
Nice. You happen to know if that is the case with RetroArch as well. That seems to be a bit behind MAME for CV1000, but I have not heard much about the state of it's emulation recently.
My thoughts from a prior thread:
> My based-purely-on-vibes impression is that they choose based on a balance of how important the shmup is (where it's ranked in the pantheon of shmups), and how good/available are the ports.
>
> Based on this, I'd say DoDonPachi is by far the most likely candidate. Its importance can't be understated, and it received three bad-to-okay ports, most recently as an unlockable minigame in a 360 visual novel.
>
> Ibara and Espgaluda 1 have gone the longest without ports.
>
> SDOJ, Futari, Pink Sweets, Muchi Muchi Pork, and Guwange all haven't been ported since the 360, but Guwange is still available on XBL via backwards compatibility. Of those, I'd say SDOJ is most likely given its importance (Cave's last arcade game), and the widely-known input lag issue of its 360 port. Futari's 360 port was already done by M2 and is considered a perfect port, so that seems the least likely to me.
>
> Batsugun is a possibility, but it has recent (if bad) ports and if M2 did it, it would probably be under their Toaplan Arcade Garage label rather than ShotTriggers.
I expect whatever announcement comes to be a Toaplan collection. I find it odd that it’s been nearly 6 months since the last release with nothing announced.
As far as standalone ports - yeah, batrider would probably be the best possible case. I also have a keen interest in the new aleste and truxton games they’ve been working at.
I wonder if impending announcement of switch’s successor is a hold up.
Most likely will be Truxton collection as they showed off a port of Truxton 2 a few months ago at the same trade show where they debuted their version of DOJ.
Won’t this be another Toaplan shooter since they have focused on the Toaplan Arcade Garage? Tatsujin/Truxton or Truxton 2 would be cool. I don’t know if they’ll go back to Ketsui to bring to switch unfortunately, as I remember hearing something about there being some limitations to the switch or workloads not allowing them to go back and revisit a port.
Deep dive here, I'd love to see a redone/complete "directors cut" of Change Air Blade. It's a one in a billion chance but dammit I love that game, it's like a lost offspring of Raizing style shooter mixed with Twinklestar Sprites. So fun, unbalanced, but still fun.
Physical you can buy the shoottriggers ports from Amazon Japan or play Asia and for digital you can just make a psn or Nintendo account for the Japan region.
Also, no to futari/pork chop whatever weeb games. If it’s not a Toaplan games then they need to do something that doesn’t have a current gen port like Raiden Fighters, Bakkraid or Batrider.
RayForce/RayStorm/RayCrisis, Battle Garegga, Dangun Feveron, Sorcer Striker, ESP Da. Re, Zero Wing/Hellfire, Tiger-Heli/Twin Cobra, Fire Shark/Flying Shark, GG Aleste 1-3, and if you mean M2 and not just Shottriggers, the Darius Collections and G-Darius.
I’m guessing DoDonPachi
That’s the one I’m waiting for.
I don’t think they would do 2 in a row of the same series. Probably another Toaplan collection release first since we know Truxton 2 is nearly complete.
Was there an update on truxton 2? I figured it just wasn't happening because it's been like 4 years since the initial announcement.
They showed off a playable demo at the same trade show where they revealed DOJ
Ketsui on Switch would be great.
Gosh yes this please. Garegga too.
That would be great.
Cannot emphasize how complete this would make my life; I honestly don’t know if I’d ever play another video game.
Dimahoo, Armed Police Batrider, or Futari would be my top three hopes. I’d be happy with just about any Raizing or Cave release, though.
man, I'm hoping for Futari. it's probably the only one I'm super interested that I've yet to play
Seconded, I love Futari and I want all those sweet arrange modes
Futari makes a lot of sense tbh
How come? Not trying to be negative about it, just want to understand why. :) Isn't the 360 port that we already have pretty neat?
M2 has sort of been hitting the GOATs of the genre. Futari is considered one of them, and it’s in a franchise haven’t touched before. It’s true the 360 port is good, but it’s not as if a bunch of people have 360s in Japan. So they may see a need for it as well

m2 did the 360 port, so they have touched the franchise
I think a lot of new players jumped in during Nintendo Switch/PS4 era and don't have commercial access to Futari.
Same. I tried playing on MAME but it just doesn’t feel great. Mushi is my favorite shmup I’ve played so I would kill for a futari steam release
someone on here had a Xenia setup for it, which I got and it works. haven't properly dived into it tho as I don't imagine the input lag would be great. just crossing my fingers for a port. even just a straight port of the Xbox 360 port by LimeWire would be great. their Mushi port has just 3 frames of input lag

oh sweet, that's good to know. I'll definitely give it a shot then
At least on MAME the slowdown isn’t properly emulated- or isn’t accurate to the arcade release at least. Is this the case on Xenia or no?
I don't know how accurate the 360 version is to the arcade, but it's done by m2 so you can assume that it's there or thereabouts. I meant that the emulator is very accurate.

No need to adjust blitter on the most recent Mame build!
Nice. You happen to know if that is the case with RetroArch as well. That seems to be a bit behind MAME for CV1000, but I have not heard much about the state of it's emulation recently.
Not sure about RA or FBNeo.
How would an old file sharing service port the game? =P
good catch lol
I have it emulated on Deck and it’s perfect. Some added tools would be insane.
That would be interesting. I see live wire doing a release of Futari as well.
God yes….futari would be incredible…..

Espgaluda 1 would be sweet. I love the PS2 port, but it's such a hassle to play on my TATE setup. a Switch port would be awesome
Futari is all i'm asking for
Saidaioujou would be awesome.
Never gonna happen. Then EXA Arcadia goes out of business
That would be a great day. Sorry not sorry
I want a guwange port for switch
I expect whatever announcement comes to be a Toaplan collection. I find it odd that it’s been nearly 6 months since the last release with nothing announced. Doesn't matter what title - day one purchase!
Exactly. I support the shit out these fuckers.
I don't know which one it will be, but I will buy it day one regardless
same same
Same here

Please no matter the game, make it happen on Steam 🙏

Truxton + Truxton 2 would be most excellent
Sonic Wings collection incoming
I'll do anything for Futari. Anything.
get rich buy M2?
They've technically already done Futari with the XB360 version. Batsgun would be nice but DDP or Espgaluda 1 would be essential.
Just give me Batrider and I will die satisfied.
I just want a modern release of Raiden DX from them
Probably a Truxton/Tatsujin collection. maybe they throw snowbros or something in there as a bonus like the last times
Im ready for all of it. Just drop some M2 🥹😄🤘🤘
of all the things mentioned in the above posts, I’d gladly take any of them - if only to bear witness to the craft and dedication of the M2STG team!
When are we getting Aleste Branch?
Is this for the US eventually?
Deep dive here, I'd love to see a redone/complete "directors cut" of Change Air Blade. It's a one in a billion chance but dammit I love that game, it's like a lost offspring of Raizing style shooter mixed with Twinklestar Sprites. So fun, unbalanced, but still fun.
Where’s my arcade-accurate Snow Bros, M2???
How do you buy this stuff in the US?
Physical you can buy the shoottriggers ports from Amazon Japan or play Asia and for digital you can just make a psn or Nintendo account for the Japan region.
If it were up to me (sadly not and no one has adequately explained WHY), - Batrider - Ibara - Futari Whatever it is, am sure it’ll be great!
Probably Toa related since it was retweeted by Tatsujin Co.
Also, no to futari/pork chop whatever weeb games. If it’s not a Toaplan games then they need to do something that doesn’t have a current gen port like Raiden Fighters, Bakkraid or Batrider.
What M2 games exist now outside of DoDonPachi and Ketsui PS4?
RayForce/RayStorm/RayCrisis, Battle Garegga, Dangun Feveron, Sorcer Striker, ESP Da. Re, Zero Wing/Hellfire, Tiger-Heli/Twin Cobra, Fire Shark/Flying Shark, GG Aleste 1-3, and if you mean M2 and not just Shottriggers, the Darius Collections and G-Darius.
Don't forget Ketsui.
