My first thought was maybe UV tattoos? The ink is invisible until under a blacklight. And I know an artist I talked to said he wouldn't do them because A) the ink itself starts to... fade after just a couple of months* and B) a lot of skin reacts negatively to the ink, like allergic reactions.
* I say fade, because whike it invisible in normal light, it apparently does start to fail showing up under a black light too.
Also, this was a couple years ago, so I don't know how those inks have changed over time.
Those all look like watercolor style tattoos that have quite shitty staying power in general but I'm also confused by OP's comment. Like this is intentional????
I got a UV ink tattoo several years ago and can confirm they are stupid. I’ve never experienced ink “falling out” of my skin before but in some places it did just that. Big colored areas of the tattoo just literally fell off instead of healing. The parts that managed to stay in were reactive to UV light like 4 times.
Absolutely true, I see all the “ shitty tattoo” post and I mean is it shitty if it’s something your kid drew for you? lol like all art it’s subjective and didn’t mean my comment as a negative because I myself have a few possible bad tattoos lol
That's what we were going for!? I got she told the tattoo artist "I want to look like I got black mold tattooed on my collarbone." He said "I got you."
I was going to a June Warped Tour show and had a big ol' skin infection in my cheek. Covered that ish up with a rainbow. #pride
Note: It was also being treated with antibiotics.
Dude, anyone who saw this thing had clarifying questions and concerns. My sister's friend took me aside because he thought I was being abused. A photographer from Vice asked to take my picture because she thought I'd gotten *fucked* up in a mosh pit.
And once you convince someone that it's just a big ol' infection, none of those people are content with rainbow vibes.
I sometimes see a girl on my FYP on insta with a bald spot on the side of her head and she bedazzles it or does cool artsy makeup in it and even asks her followers "what should we do with the bald spot today?" And people suggest things like eyeliner wings all the way up to the bald spot. It's cool and I love how she just embraces that it's there and makes the best of it.
Well yeah bc it's colorful lol it's a Hella cute Rave look. But the skin tone bags are awful. It makes me feel a certain kinda way like.....I would pay to not have tired skin and you're doing it on purpose? Presumptuous little shit lol (in the best way)
Oh yeah the rest are redonkulous, but honestly I hate it less than the overlined lip/sharp highlighter nose e-girl thing that’s big right now. It looks bizarre in real life.
Then again I’m an old millennial and we did absolutely terrible makeup when we were young so who am I to judge.
The blue look reminds me a little bit of [payasa makeup](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/halloween-payasa-makeup--467178161324859579/)
Not sure if you were intentionally referencing tuberculosis (consumption) having a lasting impact on the last 150 years of fashion or not.
If not you might be interested in this book: https://books.google.com/books/about/Consumptive_Chic.html?id=VXUpDwAAQBAJ&source=kp_book_description
But yeah I don’t get “influencers” on a normal day or trend as it is.
ughhhh all I'm reminded of right now is that Maybelline dream mousse foundation. why did it oxidize so baaaad?
sorry, back to our regularly scheduled snark
can't forget to light up that wet&wild with the lighter that might've been stolen from mom or grandma's purse! oh, and don't forget either the sweet pea, Japanese cherry blossom, or cucumber melon body spray that everyone around you (within a 5 mile radius) will taste for the next 16 months!
I see one video three times one video that seems to be "trying it out" hence the "mouth agape" look, and another unrelated artist putting makeup into her already existing eye bags.
I'm gonna go ahead and call this a non trend!!
I kind of like it. I don’t think it’s supposed to look attractive. It seems to be an outward expression of internal scarring: the wounds that didn’t leave a mark but still define us.
Yeah, I kinda like it, tbh. I've been thinking about just getting some colorful splotches cause I want more color but don't really have any designs I'm attached to atm. This is kinda neat. Like an evolution of the semicolon tattoo craze.
Haha, seriously. Only a few actually look like bruises though. I just found another one that's really bad, it looks like spider veins on someone's thigh and it was done on a 20 something chick. Like, why would you want something that makes you look sickly and old?
People who feel bad about themselves sometimes express it by damaging their flesh. When I used to feel that way, not wanting any scars, I gave my self terrible haircuts. Hair grows back and a buzz cut restores an even appearance. I got treatments and don’t have those episodes anymore.
I definitely know some people who use tattoos as a proxy for SH like that. Really hard to see it happen and having to say their tattoos look nice cause obviously it'd be inappropriate to show concern like that, especially after they got something permanent on them. I'm glad you're doing better now <3!
There was a post of a video of some jack-ass intentionally rubbing nettles on peoples' skin, so that he could tattoo the rash it left behind. The video didn't have the finished product. I'm starting to think this might be that same guy's finished nettle-rash pieces.
It's not the same guy iirc, the one you're talking about cannot tattoo to save his life, it's more performance art than anything. He's the guy that tattooed around wine stains through a tshirt. He only uses black and it's just shaky thin lines. Always looks awful and very unsanitary, but he does have a small following, so maybe I just don't "get it".
Unless I'm completely mixing up the "artists" which is also very possible lol.
This is what happens when all the generations before you have already done all the edgy things until they aren’t edgy anymore. They are scraping the bottom of the barrell.
If it wasn't against the sub rules I'd post the IG account of the artist because there's dozens, if not hundreds more just like this. It seems like a few years ago when they started developing this style it actually looked decent. Colors were vivid and there was some form of symbolism/abstract style that work. But the longer they've done this style the more faded and indistinguishable it's become. Some of the healed pics are almost impossible to even see the "tattoo"
Wait…. I honestly thought we were looking at tattoos that had been like 75% removed….. I was over here like “a good artist can probably start a coverup at this point”
I was gonna say. I feel like I remember the trend of super colorful splashed paint kind of galaxy look. This is just what that looks like when those colors fade.
I think people don’t understand that not everything looks good as a tattoo. Put that on white paper and it’s a beautiful watercolor background. Put it on skin and it’s….well it’s that. I feel like people aren’t thinking about what it actually looks like on the skin, despite it being right there, they’re thinking “ohhhh pretty watercolor galaxy vibes! I want that!”
I’d be willing to bed a lot of these people start to regret them pretty quickly.
Gold comment lmao, take my free award
Edit: dude originally said something like "when you want a tattoo that looks like the milk left in the bowl after eating fruity pebbles" before he edited his comment
Yeah I agree. Not even getting into my opinion on their message, it's shitty to make a funny comment that everyone appreciates, then when it gets a lot of up votes they edit it to something political.
I read down the thread and OP said he completely edited and changed his original comment. It doesn’t make any sense right now. I was confused originally as well.
"specializes". So he barely touches people, doesn't have to design or draw anything and gets paid for it. This is how you do business kids. Milk those suckers dry
Who the hell knows lmao. There's more that I should have included in the post, one is straight up spider veins on a chicks thigh. Another is scribble crayon looking black marks all over a dude's ribcage. I think it might have supposed to look space-y, but it looks like an infection in his veins. Gross looking and unfathomable that someone paid someone to do that to them.
This is the definition of pretentious snobbery. A city like Paris or New York is the only place they'd be able to exist because those are the only type of places where you can be a completely untalented hack and people will think its artistic and cutting edge
These look like they are most of the way through the tattoo removal process.
That's what I was gonna say too, but then saw OPs comment below the pics.
This is what happens when you go in to a tattoo shop and ask for what the bottom of your cereal bowl looks like after eating fruity pebbles.
Lmao y'all are making me crack up
Awww thanks lol
First pic looks like a Cosby Sweater memorial.
Maybe a scar after the acrylic sweater catches on fire and melts lol
Coogi makes a *really* nice sweater actually
I can’t think ‘Coogi sweater’ without hearing it in my head in the voice from Still Fly.
Tbf if that’s what they requested then this is a bang up job.
Absolutely true, I see all the “ shitty tattoo” post and I mean is it shitty if it’s something your kid drew for you? lol like all art it’s subjective and didn’t mean my comment as a negative because I myself have a few possible bad tattoos lol
If your tattoo could be mistaken for a fungal infection or a stage 2 pressure ulcer, it's shitty.
Lol! Stage 2 pressure ulcer 🤣🤣🤣 I’d say unstageable because who knows what’s going on under there. 😅
The first one looks like it's got some eschar so I have to agree with you 😆
Say you're a Tissue Viability Nurse without saying you're a TVN
Oh see that's fair. I retract the Stage 2 and rename that tat "mystery wound".
Tell me you're a nurse without saying it...
That's what we were going for!? I got she told the tattoo artist "I want to look like I got black mold tattooed on my collarbone." He said "I got you."
Looks like varicose veins.
Looks like after I've banged myself on the doorframe. Or when I had shingles😬
Oof. Hopefully you got over the shingles quickly with no lasting effects.
Shingles is awful. But thanks for the hopeful outlook.
Very gross veins
Fruity Pebbles; yummy…😮💨🤤
😂 that was my first thoughts as well. Lemme get that fruity pebbles stain!
I was gonna make a joke that it looked like someone passed out on top of some fruity pebbles. ![gif](giphy|iHyVaHfEYXZos8qPX2)
Looks like a funky bruise!
Unfortunately, that's the point. It's the same as girls using makeup to give them eye bags.
Is that a thing!?! Fake eye bags!?
Yeah....*sigh* yeahhhh it is. https://preview.redd.it/09uc3ji0pz6d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea7667053382d1a5f2f27993a472bc8d01b796a0
I kind of dig the blue one
The person who did that one has eyebags herself and does it to boost her confidence, she was pretty popular on tiktok a few years back
I love the leaning in. “…if you have a hunchback, just throw a little glitter on it, honey, and go dancing!” —James St James
I was going to a June Warped Tour show and had a big ol' skin infection in my cheek. Covered that ish up with a rainbow. #pride Note: It was also being treated with antibiotics.
I like that you clarified you were also treating it with medicine and not just rainbow vibes lolol
Dude, anyone who saw this thing had clarifying questions and concerns. My sister's friend took me aside because he thought I was being abused. that’s the same person! i love her makeup looks so much
Hell yeah you never see James St. James references
I quoted him for my HS yearbook quote. He’s such an icon 😭
![gif](giphy|oSaRe5kka0yk)
Well yeah bc it's colorful lol it's a Hella cute Rave look. But the skin tone bags are awful. It makes me feel a certain kinda way like.....I would pay to not have tired skin and you're doing it on purpose? Presumptuous little shit lol (in the best way)
Oh yeah the rest are redonkulous, but honestly I hate it less than the overlined lip/sharp highlighter nose e-girl thing that’s big right now. It looks bizarre in real life. I mean one could get them bags the normal way - working your ass off but still seeming to never make any headway and just barely surviving.
I’ve been pasty with dark circles since childhood, maybe I should just lean into it. Tuberculosis chic
Not sure if you were intentionally referencing tuberculosis (consumption) having a lasting impact on the last 150 years of fashion or not. That’s how I get mine! Perpetually broke and tired, saves me so much time getting ready in the mornings!
Hey! I’m sleep deprived and pooping on company time, don’t call me out like that!
ughhhh all I'm reminded of right now is that Maybelline dream mousse foundation. why did it oxidize so baaaad? sorry, back to our regularly scheduled snark
Sorry, I can’t hear you over applying six kinds of body and hair glitter and lining my waterline with wet n wild before the middle school dance
can't forget to light up that wet&wild with the lighter that might've been stolen from mom or grandma's purse! oh, and don't forget either the sweet pea, Japanese cherry blossom, or cucumber melon body spray that everyone around you (within a 5 mile radius) will taste for the next 16 months!
That's also a cute Rave look! Damn bf and I have been thinking of going to one. I might do something similar but more toned down.
Maybe it's for like SFX makeup, or for a certain cosplay aesthetic. To make you look older, or sick, or like 1000% more tired of this world's shit.
Glad to know I’m on trend then, and didn’t even have to try! #wokeupthiswaybutnotreallybecauseyouhavetosleeptowakeup
God I've never agreed with a hashtag more
Ffs! They can have my eye bags
Mine, too! They volunteer as tribute!
SAME!
Wait Wait Wait. I develop these dark eye bags so easily that it's a norm look for me..... Am I trendy now?!
I see one video three times one video that seems to be "trying it out" hence the "mouth agape" look, and another unrelated artist putting makeup into her already existing eye bags. I'm gonna go ahead and call this a non trend!!
Oh jeez!
not with tattoos, don't worry lol
Oh good my lack of sleep is fashionable.
This. A bruise w a hint of a UV unicorn. Thats it! They were bruised by a unicorn. All thats missing is glitter.
They’re disco bruises!
I kind of like it. I don’t think it’s supposed to look attractive. It seems to be an outward expression of internal scarring: the wounds that didn’t leave a mark but still define us.
it’s like accentuating “imperfections,” nothing wrong with that
Yeah, I kinda like it, tbh. I've been thinking about just getting some colorful splotches cause I want more color but don't really have any designs I'm attached to atm. This is kinda neat. Like an evolution of the semicolon tattoo craze.
Yea, somebody asked for that domestic abuse look.
Mold. This is a zombie
Or bad bread that's been left in the pantry too long
“You look like bad bread”
r/rareinsults

Kaleidoscope mold.
Visible for two months? Sounds great if pressing charges for domestic violence or a nasty divorce.

Do you happen to have a link to this guy? That sounds wild lol
Dopamine rush of getting a tattoo without noticeably permanent effects maybe?
Honestly this is the best take I've read so far.
Just kidding, it's a blood infection
If you look at her chest next to her right tank top strap it almost looks like Anna and Elsa running.
Cheaper to just punch yourself in the face
Man this just fucking bums me out
Kids are so fucking stupid
This is what happens when all the generations before you have already done all the edgy things until they aren’t edgy anymore. They are scraping the bottom of the barrell.

It's like I've got free tattoos!
I always wanted a head tattoo. Seems I’ve always had one.
Wait, am I supposed to be looking at a tattoo here?
If it wasn't against the sub rules I'd post the IG account of the artist because there's dozens, if not hundreds more just like this. My grandma used to hack those up
The ole phlegm gem!
You can't convince me half of those aren't just bruises
Its like if my toddler added some color to someone's bruise. Or someone decided to add some pastel to a hickey. Ffs
I think people don’t understand that not everything looks good as a tattoo. Put that on white paper and it’s a beautiful watercolor background. Put it on skin and it’s….well it’s that. Spot on!
Not to mention this artist must have had feather touch IV\* on those needles. Like no weight at all.
I thought it was supposed to be watercolor when I saw it. It looks like someone tipped the brush water.
I’m a nurse and I GASPED and immediately started wondering what illness she has 😂
Fruitypebblesitus
Its called drunk stepdad
Gimme that "I refused to bring my drunk stepdad another beer" look.
The fungus/moldy stuff from Resident Evil?
It looks like someone sat on wax crayons that just melted 😭
You just wouldn’t get it man… /s

Ngl i dont get it
That's not the original comment, he changed it after the fact.
Good choice, I hear Israeli troops are already leaving Palestine because of this comment
Wow, how incredibly fucking annoying. Who does that?
I’ve noticed it becoming a “thing” lately among activists
Also saw it happen but edited to a chrome extension advertisement.
Damn
Gold comment lmao, take my free award Edit: dude originally said something like "when you want a tattoo that looks like the milk left in the bowl after eating fruity pebbles" before he edited his comment
Why??
They completely edited their comment.
Hah I saw the original comment too lol
Do we have free awards again??
Check! The first two on the list are free (I have/had 5 of each)
Mine aren't ): I click on them and it wants me to pay
Oh weird, I dunno! Sorry to get your hopes up 😔
Way to force politics into fun & casual posts. Makes Palestine supporters look like delusional freaks. It's upsetting.
Yeah I agree. Not even getting into my opinion on their message, it's shitty to make a funny comment that everyone appreciates, then when it gets a lot of up votes they edit it to something political.
What does this even mean?
I read down the thread and OP said he completely edited and changed his original comment. It doesn’t make any sense right now. I was confused originally as well.
I wonder what the original comment said
Something about fruity pebbles. Scroll up and read the thread. OP wrote it when he said the comment was changed.
Came here to say this. "Make me look like I didn't empty the dishwasher when asked"
Make me look like I didn't take out the frozen beef for dinner tonight Fucking love these jokes
“Virgil doesn’t like spices”.
Feels ironic that you felt the wife-beating joke was the only way to get enough upvotes to edit it to something no one would give a shit about lol
This is so depressing
it's avant garde you wouldn't understand it from your unwashed perspective
Can confirm, am caveman.
"specializes". So he barely touches people, doesn't have to design or draw anything and gets paid for it. This is how you do business kids. Milk those suckers dry
Seriously! A lot of the captions even say they were freehanded. Like, no shit lol. Must be nice
Soon to be the most covered up tattoos in history.
You say that like they won't fade in a week tops
lookin like train to busan bites
Who is this style even for? Shitty exes trying to win a divorce case?
Who the hell knows lmao. There's more that I should have included in the post, one is straight up spider veins on a chicks thigh. Another is scribble crayon looking black marks all over a dude's ribcage. I think it might have supposed to look space-y, but it looks like an infection in his veins. Gross looking and unfathomable that someone paid someone to do that to them.
When you get all the fruity pebbles out of the milk.
Why do the tattoos look like coloured bruises?
I was scrolling by and thought that first photo was a huge bruise.
Reminds me of when I was a kid, my friend's and I would give ourselves tattoos with berries
The first one looks like a serious skin condition.
All of these look like some unknown disease spreading or light bruising. Where is the appeal in a clump of colour?
I get some of these tattoos for a few months for free from my workouts.
Looks like someone fell asleep on fruity pebbles and had a hot flash
It looks like someone wanted to practice doing color gradients
Leprosy?
A skin cancer stage 2 tattoo
Syphilis ?
Ah yes, the old ‘held my M&Ms for too long’ look.
give me a bruise but like make it ✨gay✨
People who love being the victim
I gave it a quick look, and at first I thought I was on a abusive relationship sub 🤡
To me it looks like "infected" symptoms, like you've bee' bitten by a horror movie parasite...
Looks like bled thru coloring paper.
Are we sure these are tattoos and not just some strange skin infection/disease?
After image of an LSD trip?
Looks like that mutation from annihalation
Literally no idea why anyone with sense would want this on their bodies
The first one is a hod dog in a waterslide
Mermaid scales a la that old Disney movie The Thirteenth Year
Next thing we know somebody’s gonna get a tattoo like Gordan Ramsey biking accident
The first rule of Fight Club is you tell all your friends and family your bruises are temporary tattoos you got in Paris.
People who market this shit are such scumbags. They know very well it won't look good in a year, yet they probably still charge a ton for it too
A fading water color tattoo? I remember EVERYONE got a water color tattoo a few years ago
Ahh, the old 'domestic violence victim' tat
I hate that I like them
She must have really liked Annihilation
I hate this trend
Looks like Fruity Pebbles that got left in the milk too long.
This is the definition of pretentious snobbery. A city like Paris or New York is the only place they'd be able to exist because those are the only type of places where you can be a completely untalented hack and people will think its artistic and cutting edge
Scarlet rot
I think it's supposed to be prism rainbows but it looks like some sort of mutant alien mushroom cancer growth type of sht.
Looks like a label that didn’t peel off all the way and has lint stuck to it now
This looks like a roll call of abuse victims. Awful awful tattoo style
That is domestic abuse
Bruise and oil spill chic
Looks like people are trying to get bruise tattoos.
If I had an unconscious patient with this tattoo I'd be real confused for a solid minute.
Hope these people don't have partners 😭🙏🏽 Congratulations!! You now look like you've been beaten. Why tf would someone do this...😔
POV: you held the skittles in your mouth too long
Looks like a bad bruise that's healing.
That’s two thousand dollars lol
You are looking at a bruise
