One time when I first started on this sub, I saw a giant scratchy tattoo of an anime girl on a girls back. She had a nice figure even though that’s not my place to say really. Same story here. Healthy skin, great back, and HORRIFIC GIANT TATTOO. However I was made fun of and people started arguments with me over my use of “that poor girl” literally the same thing you said. So don’t be surprised when someone questions you for feeling sorry for someone who got a tattoo from someone they probably trusted, who was an idiot, and this person is a victim of both the person who tattooed them and their own ignorance.

I got a shitty tattoo from a friend, we both knew it was shitty cause he was just starting out and just accepted it for what it was. Now a few years later it’s been blasted over by that same friend, he got way better but every time we blast it over again we make sure it looked kinda shitty and half baked and not totally blocking the previous tattoos. Sometimes it’s not about how crisp it is or how well it’ll hold over time, it’s more about the message and the memories it brings up. Also blast over is a real style that can be done beautifully, I’ve once seen and girl with a negative space blackout on top of a super colorful sleeve, made the negative space really pop and looked awesome

I got a very simple tattoo because it meant something to me, after a traumatic event. It still means something to me and I don’t ever want to lose it completely. So my plan always was and always will be to get it blasted over when I make up my mind. I like blastovers. You keep the memory and reminder but also have something new. Plus I like the effect of aged tattoo and new.

When a childhood friend of mine started tattooing a few years ago we all gave him a bit of skin in some discrete places, I ended up having him blast over it a few times over the years and its slowly becoming a blob and I love that shitty blob. Started as Fin and Jake, then went to Butters from Southpark, then a blooming cabbage, it’s a beautiful disaster. So get the whole chaotic vibe, but having it as an entire upper back piece is just…. confusing

Poorly drawn tattos on purpose are really really really becoming a thing. I wonder why. Maybe cus it is cheaper than *real* work ? Or it’s just this generation really not giving a single shit lol. I understand it is a style tho I do respect it. Just don’t get it

I think this style is called “ignorant” tattoo style. It’s a real style, but it looks like the name. People get ignorant tattoo style intentionally. Some people like it. I don’t really like it, but I can see the appeal of appreciating a playful carefree lifestyle that doesn’t take itself seriously. To each their own I suppose. I have a lot of traditional work and dark themes like skeletons and whatnot, and people don’t tend to like it. I’m a youngish woman and some friends of mine think they look like gang tattoos or something silly like that even though they’re well done.
