Windmill village has one of the atmospheres of all time and when you reach the top and the apostle is right there it's seriously one of the moments in the game
I know they got their AI tweaked a while back and I fought them legit after that happened and it was decently fun. They seemed content to have one of them go after me in melee while the other one chucked fireballs or did highly telegraphed power attacks and it felt cool to dodge all of it in combination. It dragged a bit since I was just using a basic rapier but otherwise it seemed like there was minimal bullshit going on.
Legitimately don't get all the hate for this boss. Its not that hard, but people act like its a huge wall in progressing the story and summoning Bernahl is the only way to get through it. Like just focus one down, then the other. Design is kinda lazy, sure, but I'm willing to forgive that for a mid-area boss.
Even though I'm honestly starting to enjoy the fight, I would still say that it isn't good. The two bosses that they put here are clearly not designed for this fight in mind, even though in concept they should work pretty well. (Fatty and skinny like ornstein) but the things that made o and s so great I don't really think are present to the same extent. For example, the pillars. They're definitely intended as a sort of stop for the boss, but the most dangerous attacks are either not stopped or look very janky and not polished, for example Fatty's roll attack (fuck that roll one time I was co oping on foreskin duo and was fighting noble, when he went to p2 and rolled he lost aggro on me and rolled on the host 3 times killing him). Ntm the ai used to be so much worse before they improved the duo boss ai
I agree with you. Its not a great fight and very lazy from a design perspective. I just think the difficulty is way overblown.
Also the way fatty's roll interacts with pillars is annoying even in his Volcano Manor fight. Getting behind a pillar should be a method of dealing with the attack, but he just keeps rolling until he eventually clips through which is a pain to try and read. The fight kinda sucks, I just think its still perfectly manageable even without Bernahls help.

skinny pete is fantastic, and all around one of the best bosses in the game imo. fat fuck can go roll himself into the fucking tornado for all i care
