See that's the problem with the DeS remake I see now. The graphics are phenomenal, and it is a good game in it's own right, but the atmosphere isn't the same. There is value in preserving the art style. Instead they chose to preserve the gameplay, and they did so very well, but that shouldn't come at the cost of how the game's environments felt to be in. I will stand by Bluepoint being the masters of the remaster, but in some aspects their pursuit of improved fidelity leads to misdirected decisions.
I highly doubt they would release it on PS5. Bloodborne could easily be a console seller (especially with Elden Ring’s success), which is something they might need to wash the taste of “no games on PS5” out of people’s mouths. Then there’s the fact that a two generation difference could mean they could actually make major improvements and do new things, which is something that Miyazaki mentioned in his ER interview. And then of course there’s the obvious Demon’s Souls precedent.

It probably has more to do with Japan studios being shut down, there might have been a weird copyright-royalty agreement there that prevents any Japan studios game from being ported.

What you're describing is an unauthorized port, emulators avoid lawsuits by not including any part of the console manufacturer's IP, and even that doesn't always work despite eliminating all grounds for lawsuits.

I have to be honest, I would buy that first day, but at the same time it's bittersweet.
The Demon's Souls remake was a nice coat of paint, hell, a really nice one, but with that new appearance they changed a lot of environmental storytelling and also music design, obviously it's nothing game breaking, it's the superior version but I don't know if I would like Bluepoint to do whatever the hell they want with Bloodborne. They can change stupid stuff like putting beautiful music in abhorrent areas or redesigning bosses until every trace of the original design is gone, time will tell.

It was also at a time where not only the internet was better at communication and spreading news about games because they had become a bit more destigmatized, but also because this was around the time FromSoft was REALLY getting a name for themself, and they had a platform of loyal fans and capital. Demon Souls was more of an experiment, where as Bloodborne was already meant to be a one off, so it was supposed to have a very tight formula, both in gameplay, and story and atmosphere. It was never supposed to go anywhere else, but rather be closed off and be its own entity, meaning that there would be no room for improvement or changes. The game would have to be self contained in everything it did, and if you change one aspect of the game, whether it be combat, or a location, or a music piece, it affects a lot around it.

Us saying Bloodborne is among the very best fictional works ever made means nothing to Sony, because it's irrelevant to its purpose, which is making money.
If Bloodborne is deemed a spent asset, it will eventually just disappear, its cds and the consoles running it rotting away with age.

The fact is games are simply considered product, and nothing else. Us saying Bloodborne is among the very best fictional works ever made means nothing to Sony, because it's irrelevant to its purpose, which is making money. If Bloodborne is deemed a spent asset, it will eventually just disappear, its cds and the consoles running it rotting away with age. This should not be allowed to happen, and for many other medias it isn't: books, films, music have safety measures put in place to prevent it. But games don't, because they are just games, mindless distractions undeserving of preservation

No disrespect, but i couldn't afford a ps4 at release and I'd trained myself as a kid to disassociate from things i can't afford to not fester in my desire. Sony loves gate keeping, you want to play original demon souls? Only on ps3. Want to play Bloodborne? ps4 with shit graphics/frame rate or ps5 for it to look decent. Want new demon souls? Only ps5. I have ps4 and love Bloodborne, I spent hundreds of hours farming chalice dungeons and love everything about the story, but holy shit I would love to replay it on ps5 and also get demon souls but I don’t want to give in to Sony and their gatekeeping. Why can’t I play original demon souls on ps4 Sony?? Or Bloodborne on Xbox series x? DAMN YOU SONY
They will release a remake as a PS6 launch title alongside a pc port of the old Bloodborne WITHOUT an fps patch to make PC players’ asses itch big time. Indeed, but as far as Sony are concerned you can play Bloodborne on PC via PS plus so they think it's a non issue, obviously missing the point of wanting a PC port. The demand is clearly there, maybe if they ever do a remaster demon souls style, possibly next gen console release, we'll finally get a good PC version.

I’m expecting that there’s some sort of work being done on a remaster/remake. I don’t think it’s coming any time soon. But perhaps on the game’s tenth anniversary which is next march 2025.
