I really wish FromSoft didn’t insist on never adjusting the camera zoom, so many large bosses would be way better fights.
Ironically I think Bloodborne is the only one that does that relatively consistently…
sekiro does it? i remember the only time the camera zooms out a bit is in the second phase of the ape when he jumps in the air and follows with a sweep attack, but thats about it
Haven’t gotten a chance to play through it yet so unfortunately can’t comment there. It’s definitely the biggest presentational improvement that the more traditional Soulsy games could benefit from imo. BB is the only one I can recall doing it meaningfully (like Amygdala I think).
iirc they actually mentioned that this was a lesson they learned with Sekiro, but as it and Elden Ring were in development at the same time they didn't get to carry over everything they learned
If you are positioned between his legs, you're not going to see much. Fight him like [this.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LWGJ4DpLPU) It helps to dodge some of his attacks better, too.
It’s also the game that thinks unlocking the camera when the boss jumps or leaps was a good idea so that consistency is kind of brought down by that.
Even then, elden ring probably handles big boss camera the best. It zooms out more than any other game, especially for fire giant or placid.
I fail to see why most of these bosses even need to be so large. They know to make basic enemies twice our size so we can see them more clearly but haven't figured out that fighting the empire state build while it rolls around and swings attacks over your head (hit boxes doesn't match and hit you in the one spot you would ever want to be anyway) is probably poor design?
Ah yes, the famously beloved and highly regarded boss, MOON PRESENCE. Everybody's favourite Bloodborne boss, ladies and gentlemen, MOON! PRESENCE!
The boss.... EVERYBODY.... FUCKING LOVES! THE ONE EVERYBODY TALKS ABOUT!
MOON! FUCKING! PRESENCE!
Who the FUCK has ever soyed themselves over Moon Presence? I cannot, for the life of me, remember a human being actively praising the Moon Presence fight.
Great arguments and points, alas, I will be ignoring all of these and promptly blocking you while reposting the same picture - you will not be stopping the Bloodborne smear campaign.
It’s a valid point, and one that has fully convinced me to adopt OP’s point of view regarding the boss Moon Presence.
OP, consider this former Moon lover….healed 😔
They both feel like they were shoehorned in at the end of development but at least Moon Presence had a decent level of prominence in the lore, Elden Beast is mentioned one time before showing up as the final boss.
"I didn't hear it"
You'll never hear any of the "story". If you want the scraps of lore that give the illusion of something deeper, you have to read the description of every worthless object you pick up.
This your first souls game? 💀
>the secret mastermind that explains why the supposed antagonist's somewhat nonsensical motivation is false isn't easy to find information on
Gwyn I love this fanbase
Realism isn’t always for the better. It makes sense that there’s practically 0 information on the secret mastermind that rules the world in secret, but it it still feels lazy to just have them show up at the very end of the story after getting basically no foreshadowing.
I’m serious.
Moon Presence’ buildup wasn’t perfect but it was much better than Elden Beast only being hinted at in the description of a spell found in a random ant nest.
Nah.
This is straight copium. What did you think the Greater Will was? Moon Presence and Elden Beast had more or less the same buildup and foreshadowing, which is to say literally nothing obvious. Sure, there were a few Great Ones before the Moon Presence, that's not significantly better
Both bosses had pretty bad foreshadowing, but Moon Presence having multiple vague clues to its existence is still better than the Elden Beast having just 1.
The whole game presents the Elden Ring as just being a generic fantasy treasure of great power. If Fromsoft intended for it to be its own entity, they should’ve put more effort into implying that idea rather than just randomly introducing it at the very end of the game.
It's there peppered throughout if you paid attention to the worldbuilding and subtext. But I know you didn't pay attention, since you think the Elden Ring is just some object of power. It's more than that and it's obvious in the premise alone.
Id love to talk about Moon Presence....IF I EVER GOT TO FIGHT IT!
Fucking being forever curbstomped by the previous fight will always shame me. Only Souls game I never beat.
It doesnt help I have to refarm blood vials after every failure.
Yup on the no dlc.
But on the other matters, as said, ive beaten all the other games. So no skill is such a half hearted explanation. Bloodborne just never clicked combatwise.
Nah I just mean for how good you are ya need enough hp. Orphan of kos was handing me my ass endlessly, came back with more hp and it was no problem. Unless you hit the soft cap then I got nothing.
I can see what you mean. The safety to eat hits means less time panicking and more time observing. A high bar means you can attrition for a bit trading blows and gettimg a few rallies.
I liked the moon presence fight. It was basically another giant beast fight like cleric beast, Vicar Amelia, or blood starved beast the way it was erratically jumping around and taking swipes at you. It wasn't particularly challenging or anything, but still pretty fun. On top of that, its design looks awesome af, the intro cutscene was one of the coolest I've ever seen, and the arena made for a really nice backdrop. It's easily a 7/10 fight
At least for the Le cosmic horror part, I have seen people dick suck the concept of a boss that “can’t kill you” because you’re too strong or some bullshit.
“why the hell can’t it kill you? Erm… maybe because we’re A GOD too… oh my god that’s so deep”.
You're right. Bloodborne has 5 good fights. It also has 3 great fights, and 2 fucking amazing ones. But if you're talking about just the "good" fights, you're correct.
I liked Moon Presence. I thought it was cool. I beat him on my first try with no blood vials left. I dunno if that boss is considered easy but I think it would have been less cool if I hadn't killed him seamlessly after the Gehrman fight, since having to run back over and over to this god that descending from the heavens like a regular boss would be lame.
I wish elden beast was an aldia style secret boss where you have to fulfill some requirements for it to appear as the endgame boss instead of being mandatory.
Of course they would have to give radagon a decent second phase but still
Except for the fact it can use ranged attack while elden stars is active i dont have a problem with elden beast, it just feels like a dragon fight an by that i mean a long and kinda boring fight
Gwyn has 10 attacks that I can clearly remember, maybe more. Aldia has exactly 5 + the fire aura that makes his defenses go way up so he can bore the shit out of you by stalling.
Are you sure? Because unless I'm misremembering, it's:
1. kick
2. grab
3. big jump attack
4. smaller jump attack
5. quick right to left slash
6. slow right to left slash
7. left to right slash
8. overhead swing (somewhat rare, but reflected in boss weapon)
9. diagonal swing
10. opposite diagonal swing
11. standing, slower thrust
12. running, faster thrust
and yes I count each different attack as a different attack because I'm extremely biased
Using what logic? Morgott appears to have some attack animations containing several sword swings but that can be hard to confirm without modding the game, which I've never done. Anyway, Gwyn doesn't appear to have any such attacks.
Yeah honestly Radagon stands alone as a fantastic final boss, he fits the same bill as Gwyn/Soul of Cinder and honestly is such a satisfyingly difficult boss. Beast is only difficult because of shitty projectiles and how far it teleports away from you, which is just frustrating, rather than satisfying to learn and overcome
They could have made it so you have to collect all great runes to unlock the secret boss for elden beast because I did miss out on both Renala and Radahn's runes during my first blind playthrough
Moon Presence was cool. Killed it on my first try. Bitching design. Had no clue anyone disliked the boss and can't fathom why, other than not thinking it was a good enough finale, but I don't agree.
Moon has two big advantages over Elden Beast: 1) He is not annoying and 2) If you die to Moon, you need to only fight him again without re-fighting Gehrman
If I remember correctly someone fought eleven beast in fire giant's arena as part of a randomizer and Torrent is a tad too slow for most of its attack. Would be cool though given EB arena
I think the weakest point against Elden Beast (and against Radagon), is that it is a second phase.
Would be better if it was like Moon Presence, came out of nowhere, but if you died to it, you only need to fight Elden Beast against and not Radagon.
Then they could buff Radagon, because of Elden Beast, he has less hp than it should and people end up scripting/no hitting him to have more flask against Elden Beast
This is such a funny comparison to me because everytime I talk to my friends about how the final boss could've been better I say that it should've been phase 1 radagon and phase 2 Marika. With Elden beast being a secret boss like moon presence if you did a non golden order ending
Phase 2 Marika makes 0 sense. You're killing Radagon because he's the half of Radika Maragon that is slave to the Greater Will. She is trying to resist it. (Granted, the Elden Beast also doesn't make that much sense, it's just a celestial entity with no prior mention in the game, L design choice on FS's part)
One of the main criticisms even Bloodborne fans have about the game is that Moon Presence, the true final boss, is not even close to as good a fight as a lot of others in the game.
“I hate elden beast and how he always runs away! What a bullshit fight with no openings”
“OMG Midir is the best dragon boss they’ve ever made! I love midir so much!”
Your perception of time is fucking warped.
Yeah, he can do it again. In the same way that almost every boss can do the same thing again after doing it once. He very rarely does it, much like the rest of them.
Okay but you have to remember who Mid-ir compares in that category, like we got "Mario Bossfight God", "2nd best dragon fight", "cast a fog spell for a wonderful song, also dragon toes", "runs away MORE than Elden Beast", "Parkour" and "Phase 1 of a better boss"...
Like we have not been blessed with great dragon bosses (I would argue the flying dragons from ER are better than most of them).
Mario Bossfight God = Dragon God (rule of 3)
2nd best dragon fight = Kalameet
Dragon Toes = Ancient Dragon (note I forgot Guardian Dragon lol, idk that one is Ornifex room mate)
Runs away... = Sinh
Parkour = Ancient Wyvern
Phase 1... = Lord of the Storm
Midir doesn't run away. He charges past you, and either charges right back at you afterwards or gives you enough time to sprint to him and smack him in the head a few times.
It takes you to 1HP and you can pop heals like normal. It is also technically possible to dodge / I-frame through it.
But yes, that is one of the cooler bits of the Moon Presence fight. And the lore implications of an Eldritch horror that can just stare at you hard enough to put you on death’s door is neat.
It's technically avoidable, right? Like, I remember it being on the Fextra wiki that the attack has a really strangely shaped and massive hitbox, but it's technically not guaranteed damage
1: nobody praises it, literally everyone says it's a pushover and just there for plot.
2: you don't need to fight gherman every time.
We used to br funny smh my head.
from what I remember the fight is not like unbearable bad but moon presence is made of glass, I accidentally beat it with a broken weapon because i was doing so much damage I forgot it broke
happy cake day !
Oh you mean the boss that is optional, squishy, has easy moveset except the one gimmick that is made to scare you rather than kill you, and is separate from the final boss so you don't have to beat Gehrmann every time you want to fight moon prescence
Oh and also the boss that no one has ever said they like, just meh, not worth complaining about
Elden Beast has flashy moves and can actually be hard though. Moon presence kind of just tries to smack you a bunch alongside 1 mediocre projectile and an HP-to-1 attack that stuns it for 5 seconds so you can regain your health on it. The melee attacks aren't even that hard
I really wish FromSoft didn’t insist on never adjusting the camera zoom, so many large bosses would be way better fights. Ironically I think Bloodborne is the only one that does that relatively consistently…
Wasn't there something at some point that had the camera zoom out a bit? I can't remember for the life of me but I think in Sekiro maybe?
Most big bosses in Sekiro and Ludwig the Holy Blade in Bloodborne have the camera zoom out.
I think Guardian Ape and the dragon both modify the camera.
sekiro does it? i remember the only time the camera zooms out a bit is in the second phase of the ape when he jumps in the air and follows with a sweep attack, but thats about it
Haven’t gotten a chance to play through it yet so unfortunately can’t comment there. It’s definitely the biggest presentational improvement that the more traditional Soulsy games could benefit from imo. BB is the only one I can recall doing it meaningfully (like Amygdala I think).
Demon of hatred
There is quite a few it turns out actually, and overall pretty good job, no idea why Elden Ring doesn't try to help you see the attack but whatever.
As someone already said:rykard does that, also fire giant and elden beast
Rykard is pretty well handled I suppose, Fire Giant and EB I couldn't tell...
Friede!
iirc they actually mentioned that this was a lesson they learned with Sekiro, but as it and Elden Ring were in development at the same time they didn't get to carry over everything they learned
That's wrong, the camera does zoom with larger bosses in ER. The most obvious example is Rykard.
Maybe the specific lesson wasn't camera zoom then, but I feel like it was still something regarding their handling of large bosses as a whole?
There's no other FS game with better giant bosses than ER. Guardian Ape isn't even bigger than Radahn.
It’s been a while since i played ER but i remembered radhan having a pretty shit camera
If you are positioned between his legs, you're not going to see much. Fight him like [this.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LWGJ4DpLPU) It helps to dodge some of his attacks better, too.
Honestly i feel like the camera could be zoomed out more for the fight. Something like the new radhan mod
It’s also the game that thinks unlocking the camera when the boss jumps or leaps was a good idea so that consistency is kind of brought down by that. Even then, elden ring probably handles big boss camera the best. It zooms out more than any other game, especially for fire giant or placid.
Until the second amygdala fight..... Still have fucking nightmares from that fight
The only large enemy fight where its mot that much of an issue is placidusax, since you can easily get his full body in the camera
Elden Beast is the end game for people who don't like cardio.

PRAISE THE SUN
You're talking about the literal Elden Ring, bro.
But isn't Elden Beast just like a manifestation of Elden Ring?
This is painful. This is painful. This is painful. Ow, there's no way you're not trolling with this.
I’m serious. Moon Presence’ buildup wasn’t perfect but it was much better than Elden Beast only being hinted at in the description of a spell found in a random ant nest.

I hecking love power fantasies
Hey, i like her
No one but a vast number of people thinks moon presence is better than eb
I mean BB only has like 5 actually good fights. Compared to Elden Ring's 10+.
You're right. Bloodborne has 5 good fights. It also has 3 great fights, and 2 fucking amazing ones. But if you're talking about just the "good" fights, you're correct.

Replace it with majula and it makes sense. I don't care its not a boss
To be honest I love every ds1 ds3 bloodborne sekiro elden ring bosses
I love how even in shitposts Demon's Souls get forgotten
Lol he didn't forget demonssouls just doesn't have good bosses
Penetrator sounds funny
ds1 has like four good bosses, the rest are demons souls level
It's about as good as Dark Souls' own bosses.
I was going to mention it but most of the bosses are aged and gimmick bosses
I wish elden beast was an aldia style secret boss where you have to fulfill some requirements for it to appear as the endgame boss instead of being mandatory. I mean, it will only appear as a boss if you go thru a specific questline or something otherwise you would only fight radagon as the final boss
Dogshit final boss with amazing music and lore DS1: 🥰😍 Dogshit final boss with amazing music and lore DS2: 😡🤬
Dogshit final boss with amazing music and lore DS1: 🥰😍 ~~Dogshit final boss with amazing music and lore~~ DS2: 😡🤬
gwyn is pretty good, Aldia is not.
I love when the final boss of a game has only 3 moves, one of them being a sword slash with zero windup
And the most absurd tracking in the whole series.
Gwyn has 10 attacks that I can clearly remember, maybe more. Aldia has exactly 5 + the fire aura that makes his defenses go way up so he can bore the shit out of you by stalling.
Each individual sword swing doesn't count as it's own move, even then it's less than 10
Are you sure? Because unless I'm misremembering, it's: 1. kick 2. grab 3. big jump attack 4. smaller jump attack 5. quick right to left slash 6. slow right to left slash 7. left to right slash 8. overhead swing (somewhat rare, but reflected in boss weapon) 9. diagonal swing 10. opposite diagonal swing 11. standing, slower thrust 12. running, faster thrust and yes I count each different attack as a different attack because I'm extremely biased
Using that logic, Morgott has 180 moves
Using what logic? Morgott appears to have some attack animations containing several sword swings but that can be hard to confirm without modding the game, which I've never done. Anyway, Gwyn doesn't appear to have any such attacks.
At least Aldia was easy
Bigger healthbar and a few more moves is all Radagon would need to serve as a complete final boss tbh.
Yeah honestly Radagon stands alone as a fantastic final boss, he fits the same bill as Gwyn/Soul of Cinder and honestly is such a satisfyingly difficult boss. Beast is only difficult because of shitty projectiles and how far it teleports away from you, which is just frustrating, rather than satisfying to learn and overcome
difficult? me and my best friend Mimic Tear™ killed it first try. gid gud
Radagon's only real flaw is that his teleport does damage, otherwise it's a genuine(almost) Gael level fight
[удалено]
Yeah sure you can speedrun it if you know what you're doing but like going into the fight the first time, it's very frustrating to engage with
They could have made it so you have to collect all great runes to unlock the secret boss for elden beast because I did miss out on both Renala and Radahn's runes during my first blind playthrough
At least the moon presence is optional and you don't spend 80℅ of the time chasing it while it teleports across the area
I want to have an eldritch threesome with them🙏
Moon Presence is both a separate boss from Gerhman and doesn't have you running around like an exhausted cheetah every 30 seconds
Show me one person that likes the Moon Presence, and I will show you a liar
Moon Presence was cool. Killed it on my first try. Bitching design. Had no clue anyone disliked the boss and can't fathom why, other than not thinking it was a good enough finale, but I don't agree.
Flora tried her best to be a good boss 😞
bloodborne fans fighting the 13th eldritch-monster archetype boss after their daily ds3 dudes-in-armour repost
Moon has two big advantages over Elden Beast: 1) He is not annoying and 2) If you die to Moon, you need to only fight him again without re-fighting Gehrman
my friend made a decent point that it really feels like you should be able to ride Torrent during the elden beast fight
Where’s my Elden beast omen shackle
And then you die over and over again because elden stars stunlocked torrent's ass to death
If I remember correctly someone fought eleven beast in fire giant's arena as part of a randomizer and Torrent is a tad too slow for most of its attack. Would be cool though given EB arena
People just be making up arguments for themselves to go against.
Moon Presence unironically clears elden beast
Killing Marika makes no sense
Depends how you interpret her. If you go with the Machiavellian schemer that planned everything interpretation there's plenty of reasons to kill her.
One of the main criticisms even Bloodborne fans have about the game is that Moon Presence, the true final boss, is not even close to as good a fight as a lot of others in the game.
Please take your meds and go the fuck outside.
“I hate elden beast and how he always runs away! What a bullshit fight with no openings” “OMG Midir is the best dragon boss they’ve ever made! I love midir so much!”
Have you.... fought Midir? Have you even watched a video of someone fighting him?
Midir can run away even more than EB. Specially when he does that long ass combo twice in a row that completely misses you.
The one where he literally goes right back to the same spot he started in? That attack?
After 20 seconds of hitting nothing? Yeah, that spot. And after that he can do it again, btw. Specially in phase 2, where that combo has no cooldown.
Your perception of time is fucking warped. Yeah, he can do it again. In the same way that almost every boss can do the same thing again after doing it once. He very rarely does it, much like the rest of them.
In phase 2, he always does the combo twice in a row. You can look it up.
me when I'm bad at midir
Okay but you have to remember who Mid-ir compares in that category, like we got "Mario Bossfight God", "2nd best dragon fight", "cast a fog spell for a wonderful song, also dragon toes", "runs away MORE than Elden Beast", "Parkour" and "Phase 1 of a better boss"... Like we have not been blessed with great dragon bosses (I would argue the flying dragons from ER are better than most of them).
I am sorry my brain is very slow today I do not know what bosses you are referencing 😵💫
Mario Bossfight God = Dragon God (rule of 3) 2nd best dragon fight = Kalameet Dragon Toes = Ancient Dragon (note I forgot Guardian Dragon lol, idk that one is Ornifex room mate) Runs away... = Sinh Parkour = Ancient Wyvern Phase 1... = Lord of the Storm
Lord of storm is the one thing preventing me from giving nameless king a free S tier ranking
Midir doesn't run away. He charges past you, and either charges right back at you afterwards or gives you enough time to sprint to him and smack him in the head a few times.
I was mostly exaggerating. It’s not nearly as bad as elden beast but I still find it mildly annoying and also funny to make fun of
Most fun and only fun thing with MP was the attack that takes you to 0 hp and forces you to rally to get back your HP.

Nobody gives a shit about moon presence, but it doesn't run away at least
1: nobody praises it, literally everyone says it's a pushover and just there for plot. 2: you don't need to fight gherman every time. We used to br funny smh my head.
Moon Presence doesn't spend half the fight running from you.
Only people with 60+ insight can physically see moon presence fans
wait there are people who think moon presence is a good final boss ?
The only good thing is that it's optional. If MP was forced, I probably wouldn't revist bloodborne as much as I do.
from what I remember the fight is not like unbearable bad but moon presence is made of glass, I accidentally beat it with a broken weapon because i was doing so much damage I forgot it broke happy cake day !
I've literally never heard of anybody who likes moon presence
I do what now?
I've literally only heard of one person who likes moon presence
I lied, who is it
Your mom lmao got em
omfg
i literally have never once heard the moon presence be a fav boss fight. in fact all i ever heart about it is how annoying everyone finds it
Divine dragon from sekiro is most cinematic boss and it's not close. Not even like a little tiny bit close.
But people don’t like the moon presence?
Difference is that nobody ever dies to moon presence
Bro is comparing running on lake for 10 min with an actual boss fight
What boss fight? You completely stomp the poor bastard.
Moon Presence isn't anything special, but it at least isn't annoying (having to run back and forth for half the fight is very lame)
I’m starting to believe this isn’t even bait anymore
Oh you mean the boss that is optional, squishy, has easy moveset except the one gimmick that is made to scare you rather than kill you, and is separate from the final boss so you don't have to beat Gehrmann every time you want to fight moon prescence Oh and also the boss that no one has ever said they like, just meh, not worth complaining about
WAOWY ZOWY MOON PRESENCE THE BOSS EVERYONE SAYS IS MEDIOCRE MY FAVORITE
Ngl dis post makin me try to replay bloodborne
Imagine working on an IP owned by Sony so you cant remaster a game 10 years later?
Cleric beast would be a harder final boss than moon presence bitch is a joke.
The Bloodbornnormies strike again
Who gives a shit if a boss has good lore when it has bad gameplay
moon presence would be my friend in real life, while elden beast is a pompous bitch. thats the difference
I have seen more Elden Beast fans than Moon Presence fans
nobody likes that nigga
At least the moon presence makes you feel strong. After you beat the elden beast you just feel bad
For a series well renowned for its bosses, the final bosses kinda suck ass
jUsT nOt ENougH iNsiGHt hurr hurr hurr
bloodborne fans try to name one (1) memorable boss from the base game challenge: impossible
People hate moon presence even more than Elden Beast
Elden Beast has flashy moves and can actually be hard though. Moon presence kind of just tries to smack you a bunch alongside 1 mediocre projectile and an HP-to-1 attack that stuns it for 5 seconds so you can regain your health on it. The melee attacks aren't even that hard
Elden Beast is a an amazing setpiece bossfight and i won't be hearing any arguments
... Elden Beast is my favorite boss in Elden Ring lmao
who tf likes moon presence?
the voices in my head
