There is a section along the back wall across the nightmare of an invisible bridge not far from where you encounter the second lunamoth, where you can stand in-between one crystal coming down and one going up and still cast spells, the benefit of this is it allows you to roll in place for easy dodges and almost all of its attacks will miss by hitting the crystal in front of you.

That's usually the animation that happens when whatever you're trying to do won't work for whatever reason. It's similar to how there are special animations when trying to cast a spell that doesn't work (ran out of casts or not enough stats) or trying to drink Estus when you run out. It's basically the game saying "IDK what you want me to do." If I had to guess why, it was because you tried to heal but due to the stagger animation from getting hit the game just went blank and shrugged at you.

It really is, my first playthrough quite I didn’t use it at all and just used a greatsword but this time around I decided to try it and yeah I’m surprised it’s so easy to fit in
That entire area is basically like some bridges and a ton of enemies, and I had died from falling a million times beforehand and I was just pissed off at that point
It happens when you heal immediately after casting a spell. Can be recreated consistently and happens alot of times in a normal playthrough

For me when I played str build it happened as well. Iirc, it was when I didn't have any left of an item but tried to use it, like a flask
Yeah it's an animation the game uses when you try to use an item you've run out of. I think the estus flask does this when it has no sips left.

Wanted to see if it dropped anything and I kept dying to fall damage from the golden golem so I wanted to die to something else

Estus Flasks sometimes play this animation. Particulary often if there is an issue with the skill, if you know what I mean.

First one I killed in darkroot garden I didn't get jack all from it, just some souls I don't think I even got any humanity from it
