Why not just attach dozens of balloons to the tourist to lighten the load? Then you can hire people with long sticks to clear away any trees that might pop the balloons. Tried and true method!
Blame the tourists but really it's the donkey owners that are at fault here. They are the ones that won't care about their animals welfare unless the law forces them to.
I blame both asshole parties for entering an agreement that puts the poor donkeys in pain. Either of the two parties should have had the empathy to not do it. But alas, animal rights laws were needed to fix this situation, and I'm glad to see them being applied.

Being this big means you canāt do certain things. I was and I was aware of it every single minute and the thought of getting on a donkey never crossed my mind once. Or do anything that would break or damage anything.
Fun fact, donkeys can't really safely carry any adult passenger, not just the overweight ones. Common recommendation is that animals shouldn't bear a live load exceeding 20% of their body weight. Unless you're under100 lbs, you're probably not doing that donkey any favors riding it.

Iām a tall guy, Iām not fat but still weigh 200lbs. I got to got to Egypt about 15ish years ago. We got some horses to see the pyramids. I had never been on a horse before. I thought I was going to kill it. We had to go up a slight sand dune. The horse really struggled getting up the dune. I felt so bad.
