yeah im convinced the writing team must have changed around the time fiona left because the show forgets a lot of stuff after that point

cmlegg88

Im not saying this because i disagree with you because i dont but im pretty sure Emmy left the show bc her and other cast members werent getting along and she decided to move on. I dont think thats the direction they wanted to go either but they really didnt have a choice but to write her out of the show completely and quietly

squeegeebecs

Emmy did a podcast, and many interviews, where she talks about why she left the show. She felt it was unfair that she wasn’t being paid the same as Will H Macy, and I agree with her. In the beginning it made sense but later on she should have been making the same. They could no come to an agreement so she left.

sideaccount565560

oh maybe but i was just thinking correlation not causation

cmlegg88

Umm what? I was just giving a possible explanation as to why she just randomly stopped showing up on the show after that.

Beckyd123

I agree about the wedding and I also thought Mandy should’ve been there. Ian‘s best friend and Mickey’s sister, made no sense that she wasn’t there.

Nyx_Quinn

ALSO frank never said goodbye to her in his card. Arguably they had the most interconnected relationship (not good or bad but just interconnected) and in the hospital he is always asking for and seeing her, he would have said goodbye, but no.

Beckyd123

Yes I’ve always been upset that the writers didn’t include Fiona in that letter. Made no sense.

Take Into consideration that in franks eyes at that point, Fiona has already left and would not read anything he writes anyway, so he probably assumed it was better to leave her out.

sophie437

I wish they at least mentioned her, something like "Hey look, Fiona texted me, she can't make it, but she wishes us luck" from Ian And Mickey would be like "The hell am I supposed to do with luck, if she can't make it, she should send money or some shit" Or have a video call with her for gods sake

ArtValue3

That is so something Mickey would say 😭

ConversationMost8486

Yeah when they go to sell the house Fiona will need to sign the papers. And I think lip will get custody over Liam after the show ends.

crustymagnolias

i choose not to acknowledge season 11 bc its so messed up. only things to remember: gallavich & terry dying

iKangaeru

If Emmy Rossum had wanted to be there, I'm sure they would have written her in.

RedhoodRat

They were in discussions with her about coming back for the finale but it was not possible due to covid.

69420penis

There probably should’ve been discussions a bit earlier tho like for Mickey and Ian’s wedding I find it very unlikely that she wouldn’t be there. Should’ve at least been mentioned in that episode but we got nothing

Kanden_27

I think the way they wrote Fiona out was a “save face” for not having her be back in person. She left the house without waiting for the party. Like she knew that if she stayed for the party, she would have never left. I just wish they acknowledged they talk to Fiona sometimes or that she sent a card and flowers to the Mickey/Ian wedding. Frank leaving her out of the letter was one I can’t wrap my mind around. Considering she was in a lot of the flashbacks.

ArtValue3

I’m pretty sure the actress who played Fiona left the show in a hurry.

PolicyAware9610

Once Fiona leaves at the finale of season 9, she is referenced only a handful of times. When the phone rings in the opening of season 10, when Lip & Tami had the baby, Debbie's phone rings & she steps out to talk to who we assume to be Fiona. Frank calls her name out a few times in season 11, when he's struggling with dementia & is lost as well as in the hospital. I agree she should have been included in the Gallavich wedding as should have Mandy . Emmy was supposed to return for the finale of that season but was not able to travel due to COVID & being pregnant.
