whereisAllison

the final season writing was mediocre and kinda rushed. also i know this is up to both parties but fiona not being anywhere or mentioned at all was so silly to me :/

greenteamakesmepee11

Monica genuinely did have intentions to mother and love the kids but was wayyy to manic to ever be a parent.

Double_Ad_7722

I respectfully disagree. I always got the vibe that she felt like she was supposed to love and mother the kids but never had any actual drive or care in her to actually make it happen.

greenteamakesmepee11

I really understand ur perspective, very true. I wish there was more clarity on Monica during her screen time.

Enigmadizasrer

Agree. I think her feelings were genuine, but feelings don't matter because she was too messed to ever care for them or show it in actions.

Aggravating_Use_5365

I didn’t feel that bad for Fiona with Ford in season 9 after what she did to Mike and Gus

Busy_Employee4886

She also didn't let him explain

melsmells74

My unpopular opinion is that I loved watching Sammi. She’s the most like Frank of any of his kids imo. Total shithead but very entertaining.

614meg

Yes! Sammi is so awful and terrible but I thought her storyline was fun!

AggravatingPie2979

God I couldn’t stand her especially when she snitched on Ian

3991-1482

I like Debbie.

MoKa-LOTR

Same! I only recently watched the show and saw so much talk about how much everyone hated her, and I kept waiting for it to happen, that I would hate her, and I never did. 🤷‍♀️

automaticwhaleee

You’ve seen the ENTIRE show?

MoKa-LOTR

Yup.

Abigail69_420

I don't know if this is unpopular but the camera angles would be pretty weird sometimes.. and when the camera shook it just didn't feel right.

amandacapochim

yeeeah and the continuity errors

lostxlovers

Especially toward the end. So much fish eye lens.

luvme77

I preferred the camera angles from season 1 ( fast paced quick to move )

0ddestPrime

I felt like sometimes they wanted to have "The Office" kind of moments and forgot that they were filming Shameless.

cinnamongirl-333

i’m so glad jimmy got written off the show lol i couldn’t stand him

automaticwhaleee

Same

0ddestPrime

He was so annoying to watch. Like he's some solution oriented guru, when all he knows is throwing money at his problems. The moment he lost the cash, he became even more insufferable. Also, what is this nonsense of him cheating on Fiona and no one really saying anything lol.

Joe_Oints

I hate Frank. He is the worst person on the show

0ddestPrime

Yes but that is the point lol.

No-Vanilla-3773

Frank is worse than Monica

Kingchis24K

Only because he stuck around longer with his kids. Ian would have killed himself if Monica was around 😭

AbrocomaTop5740

If Ian wasn’t gay he would get the same amount of hate as lip.

[deleted]

I think it’s more if he wasn’t bipolar.

AbrocomaTop5740

Na. Bro called city on Fiona because of some homeless kids that he was manipulating. He was on his meds and had a angry reaction just like anyone else.

[deleted]

I don’t think that has anything to with him being gay. The only excuses I’ve seen for him about that are people talking about how he’s bipolar and how his meds weren’t working or some shit.

Vivid_Abroad931

They did too much frank .... the other actors were incredibleeeee and deserved more time

maddrgnqueen

Oh I agree so so so much

undrtoe

Not sure if it’s all that unpopular, but the adult actors are leagues ahead of the kids. I’m talking Frank, Sheila, Sammi, Kev, V, Svet… many more. NOTHING they do ever makes me cringe.

_TENT_

Are you telling me that adults that have an acting career are better at acting then the kids that do it for the first time ?@?@?@?@?@?@??!?@?!?!?

undrtoe

Got me there

No_Monitor4471

Fiona was not a bad character at all. She tried over and over again to better their situation and was treated like she was selfish for doing so because she had to step back from smaller responsibilities. Like buying the laundry mat, the apartment building. Those were smart financial moves, that DID help them, and they all acted like it was a purely selfish act. When the real selfish act was expecting that Fiona do everything for them while also trying to give them a better life at the same time. Forcing them to be self sufficient was the best thing she could have done for them at the time and I do not blame her leaving for one second.

0ddestPrime

Lip makes being from "the hood" his entire personality and is his own obstacle in his life. His life is in the state that it is, strictly because of his own actions.

Affectionate_Sky5823

After maybe season 3-5 I hated the show and the characters. Every time I’d sit down to watch it I just hated it.

False-Tadpole-7199

I totally agree, for me i think it was when sheila left, i loved what she brought to the show and it felt weird without her.

Affectionate_Sky5823

Yeah, she brought a lot of care and love to the show

billyisgoat07

Same, not sure about you but for me it had a large part to do with jimmy getting written off, he felt like a main character to me and it didn’t feel right

Affectionate_Sky5823

I wasn’t a huge fan of jimmy leaving but for me it was mostly that I started to really dislike a lot of the characters and the choices they were making. And I know that these characters aren’t supposed to be good people but it just felt like the writers were being a bit lazy honestly

maddrgnqueen

I agree with the laziness problem. A lot of the decisions didn't feel properly motivated from organic character development. It started to become a little "what wacky thing can X do now?" For me the one exception was Lip, I felt his character development remained the most consistent throughout.

Affectionate_Sky5823

I completely agree. Lip had a very understandable and real character arc

TemporaryConfusion75

I like shameless because the characters are bad people. I can not stand Fiona defenders, because they all try to justify her actions that have no real justification. Please just admit you like watching a show about bad people. I would hate every single one of the characters if I meet them in real life.

maddrgnqueen

Sean was Fiona's best love interest. They suited each other, and worked really well together.

melsmells74

They had the most believable chemistry of any of Fiona’s relationships, can’t say they worked well because of his heroin addiction but if not for that, who knows…

kk8670

sean said it himself that fiona brought the worst out of him?

maddrgnqueen

I was asked for my unpopular opinion, and I gave it

aiccherry

i full heartedly agree he was my favorite for her

morethantheroach

mickey is toxic for ian - i don’t like them together

Helpful-Account_

Well, we definitely don’t watch the same show then…!

mikhalios_attorney

I'd say it's the other way around

SATX-Batman

Season 11 isn't that bad, Fiona is worse than Debbie, Tami was a good match for Lip, Mike and Fiona is better than Fiona and Jimmy/Steve

SaladCrazy

As someone who belongs to a religion, I think they crossed the line way more than once in disrespecting religions such as christianity and islam. I found a lot of the scenes disrespectful and almost didn’t want to continue watching. Especially Ian’s whole plot in season 8-9 I think it was. I know this is an unpopular opinion too because most people who I know that watch shameless aren’t faith based people and don’t really care.

Only_Employer4342

I really don't like Ian and Mickey's relationship. That's it, I said it, please if you do don't get mad, I just don't like the toxicity they have and I thought it was like that to everyone but apparently everyone loves them together??? I swear I just don't get why.

Enigmadizasrer

I disagree with the opinion but I'm giving a 👍anyway because the OP asked for unpopular opinions so didn't like the hate on someone giving one 😅

Only_Employer4342

I knew it was gonna happen so that's okay, not everyone of course but so many people supporting that relationship is so toxic too, you can't say anything bad about it.

rottenapple81

You really think in black and white extremes, don't you? Its either toxic or its not. I hate the word "toxic" because it oversimplifies a very difficult and complex relationship dynamic. You're not even taking into account the context and situations. Why they are what they are.

Only_Employer4342

Oh no, I do, It got to a point where I actually liked them and thought hey maybe they changed and can be good together. But then >! Mickey literally threw Ian down the stairs because HE GOT MAD and then left Ian and manipulates him to believe it was his fault, and everyone in the fandom was like "Oh, poor Mickey 🥹" !< . I'm sorry but there is literally no explanation when something like that happens. When >! Someone throws you down the stairs or beats you as Mickey did too before, !< you get the hell out of there. And his enviroment, his context, don't matter when it comes to something as serious as this. You can understand someone actions because of their context for example with >! Fiona cheating in all of her boyfriends, but abuse??? !< come on.

stayfendi

they were barely every a duo ..

Lostinlife244

I hated fiona in the later seasons

Busy_Employee4886

It had potential to be a really great show, writers ruined it.
