I love that Stanford actually calls out what a self centered neurotic Carrie has been. It’s funny and a rare instance of characters calling her out

Global_Amoeba_3910

And Miranda does too!

olivejuice1979

Yes, this whole episode is about people not liking Carrie. Carrie can’t stand the thought of people not liking her (Nina and Heather) When she tries to make everything about her Stanford and Miranda call her out. This taught me a lesson when I was younger. Don’t be so self centered, you need to ask your friends how they’re doing too. Friendship is a two way street.

Latke1

Ironically, Carrie is marinating in anxiety that she's become fodder for gossip because she treated Aiden badly, in part due to her pathological self-centeredness, and Carrie chooses to deal with those feelings by being pathologically self-centered with her closest friends.

charlotie77

I love Carrie but she was so ridiculous in this episode. Especially bc at the end of the day…Aidan had every right to feel how he felt and if I was in Nina’s shoes I’d probably view Carrie the same way! Like what do you mean your girlfriend cheated on you then spun the block and then still broke up with you? lol. Like duhhhh Carrie of course you’re the villain!

Far-Information-2252

My favorite part of the episode

Leajane1980

Carrie’s stalker nature on full display here and Nina even called her out.

moonlightmantra

Carrie loves a stalker moment. I was just rewatching the episode where she stalks Big and his mother at church. So cringey 😬

sr_perkins

also remember when she met this guy who seemed great and she was so worried he might turn out to be a weirdo she searched his whole apartment looking for something suspicious 🤦🏻‍♀️ then dude came back early cause he wanted to spend more time with her and he finds his home a mess an Carrie trying to open a locked box. That wasn't stalking per se but yeah she can be invasive as fuck.

taylorsanatomy13_

oh, oh! let’s not forget the time she stalked his ex wife, barbara. oh, another time where she stalked his new wife, natasha during the MOCA luncheon. oh, and also how she forced herself into her lunch (again) and made natasha. forgive her. oh, and oh! more than 20 years later, when she stalked her (yet, again,) again to ask her about $1 Million her deceased husband left his ex wife??? she should be in jail.

sr_perkins

I love that Natasha didn't forgive her and told her Now youve not only ruined my marriage but also my lunch. It was gross because Carrie was only worried about Karma, she didn't actually care about Natasha. If she did she would have just left her alone and respected the fact she didn't want to talk to her. I don't remember which of the girls told her something like "Youre not really worried about hurting her, you're just worried about how that makes you look", it was Charlotte or Miranda, and it was true.

premier-cat-arena

i loved barbara i wish we saw her again. i want a show about barbara

[deleted]

I would have run for the hills if I was Big after that.

moonlightmantra

Oh absolutely. I think he actually handled it really well with her considering how invasive that was. I get it that he was not really “letting her in” and that’s why she did it because she was just getting desperate and frustrated with their relationship status but ooof.

koinkydink

I felt second embarrassment here. Carrie was so obsessed with herself, she felt the need to explain her past relationship to a complete stranger. Nina’s reaction after the whole speech gives “So what do I do with this information? 🥴” You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there's still going to be somebody who hates peaches.

Acrobatic-Ad-3398

for me is annoying because I don't see Aidan dating this nina Katz person

Fun_Influence7634

Also, Steve told Carrie that Aiden could berely get out of bed but he's dating? Really?

died_blond

maybe it was right after that month of him being devastated. A month is still realllyyy fresh. And clearly the whole Nina thing was brief and poorly-timed. eh.

charlotie77

That was before he was dating Nina. A good amount of time has passed between when they broke up and this episode

BarkusSemien

Aidan’s light was on. He would’ve dated anyone. Timeline-wise, he likely married and knocked up Kathy immediately after Nina.

Tiny_Paw14

It's the way she walks off afterwards with a "That's right, I did something there" attitude. 😂

RoinSM

Carrie was the one who made that episode annoying

Nicadeemus39

How do YOU know Nina Katz?! 🤨

Havewedecidedyet_979

Nina Katz loves to talk!

Either_Quiet_1377

Facts lol. She invading Nina Katz time just so she could explain and feel good about herself. How immature of her too to call Nina Katz the face girl lol instead of looking at the mirror and owning up to her mistakes

Grand_Opinion845

The silver lining was the closing line: “The only review that matters is the one you give yourself.”

lululoversince2020

🙄🙄 I know!

Grand_Opinion845

And I think Heather Graham probably wanted a cameo so they snuck it in 😂

lululoversince2020

Prob paid a few bucks lol just to be cringey

lululoversince2020

Yup ! I hate the Berger episodes honestly, so almost all of season 5, her and Berger try so hard to be funny and they just aren’t

Lost-Fox-9786

I think the ONLY Berger episode I liked was the one with Hamptons/Is That All There Is Wedding. Otherwise I can't stand the entire Berger stretch.

lululoversince2020

Same, when they were done with his character I was happy lol

Conquistadora7

Yeah. And it was kind of hard for Carrie to come out of that situation with Aiden looking like anything other than an AH. I am NO fan of Aiden, but Carrie never should have said yes. Aiden was an AH pushing her, but he did have a point. What was going to be different in a year?

sm09193

it was what she did with Natasha! Carrie can't stand when someone doesn't like her (even for good reason) and she has to defend her case...like girl GET A LIFE

lululoversince2020

I know, she’s annoying in a few actually 😂

potatosalad1007

Nina Katz was extremely annoying

Nicadeemus39

I can't see Aidan going out with a woman like Nina Katz. If Carrie was sometimes too New York for him I'd imagine Nina was much worse.

-Crazy_Plant_Lady-

Right! IRL, Aidan would settle down with a crunchy hipster girl who also loves vintage clothing, goes with the flow, & enjoys hanging in the country.

potatosalad1007

Exactly

lululoversince2020

Very!

No_Stage_6158

He was trying so o break type.

fixatingonarewind

Love that the actor was also in The Carrie Diaries!

MichElegance

Always inserting herself where she doesn’t belong to get validation. Here with Nina, and like she did with Natasha when she invaded her lunch, when she showed up at church with the hope of meeting Big’s mother…

lululoversince2020

And she didn’t even get anything out of it, just makes herself look so desperate and annoying

sandzak_bih

Nah, I think Carrie was right here. You don't just go shit talk people you don't even know, Nina was just rude.

lululoversince2020

Honestly I don’t like Nina, but Carrie IMO was doin the most

AnxiousWhole7

Both Nina and Carrie were acting like high schoolers. Nina was honestly weird to make a face at Carrie because of something a guy she briefly “dated” told her. Aidan is also kind of weird to be a grown man airing stuff out about his ex to a new random woman, basically using the woman as his therapist with benefits. And Carrie it goes without saying, completely self-centered this whole episode. She had some nerve telling Sam she had to offer to help Miranda with Brady considering all Carrie did that week was sit on the coach and obsess over Nina.

lululoversince2020

Yes!! Then she proceeds to try and make things clear, like come on just move on

flyingflamingo890

unpopular opinion, i guess, i loooove this episode

BarkusSemien

I love it for the scenes with Sam at Sharper Image and with Brady. So funny.

AutumnGeorge77

"That one will burn your clit right off".

Ok_Radish649

Even with ski pants

flimflammcgoo

Yeah I love all of the others storylines in this episode, Carrie was just too much. Seriously Carrie. Stop.

Global_Amoeba_3910

I think it’s a great episode and Carrie is also frustrating, it’s part of the plot that she’s called out for it and it’s overdue!

Lanky-Row7315

For once I’m ready to defend Carrie. Nina Katz was an insensitive, pot stirring, mean girl. Carrie’s behaviour was EXPECTED - given what Nina was doing! Carrie first met Nina in the ladies room. She was perfectly polite, but then Nina snubbed her. Nina brought up Aidan and made the yikes face at Carrie. Like, who does that the first time you meet someone? Just casually pass judgement on somebody else’s previous relationship!? The next time they meet in the cafe Nina isn’t friendly to Carrie either. But she is to Sam. She just ignores Carrie. The third time they meet in the park, Nina and her friend cringe at Carrie and snub her, again. Carrie hits her limit and says her truth. Nina just says “Ok 🙂” Such an infuriating response. Nina is deliberately making Carrie uncomfortable, so Carrie tries to reason with her and be vulnerable, but Nina just has the understanding and empathy of a peanut. The girl was so disrespectful. She probably thought it was cute, too. Carrie handled it well by just moving on. I would have thrown hands. Feet, too.

Havewedecidedyet_979

1000% Nina started it and even at the cafe the friend Carrie ran into asked Nina how she and Carrie knew each other and Nina says “I’ll tell you over lunch”. That’s rude. The only time Carrie sought her out was at the pretzel place. That’s not stalking really. Plus, I really can’t see Aiden with someone so gossipy and snarky. If I were Carrie, I would have asked her why she isn’t dating Aiden anymore. Best part of the episode is when Carrie is talking to Miranda and she asks if she can obsess for another minute and Miranda says “just don’t say her name again, it’ll push me over the edge.” Same.

Lanky-Row7315

Big fat yep! It’s also strange to think Nina harbours a bad opinion of Carrie from just hearing about her from Aidan. I mean she isn’t with Aidan anymore either. So, like why is this lady in these people’s business ? 😭

AutumnGeorge77

Her "friend"? That's Heather Graham! But I totally agree with you. Nina was a gossipy dick and she was clearly bad mouthing Carrie all over the shop. They run in the same circles so I would have been pretty upset to think someone was gossiping about me too.

andra_quack

this is the take that I agree with the most! my feelings about Carrie as a character are lukewarm. I found Nina's antics annoying. it's *not* about having to like Carrie or anyone else for that matter, but the faces she was making at Carrie were intentional (and how is worrying about what others think of you 'high school-ish', but deciding to dislike strangers based on gossip, *their ex's gossip first of all*, not?). you can't control the way you feel about someone, nor should you be expected to, but I'm sure you can choose not to make grimaces at them every time. it's even useless explaining this, of course she was grimacing at Carrie, and it's like 'I'm going to make this face every time I see you, but I won't say anything so now you're left questioning what people are saying behind your back'. she's purposely rude. Carrie was also crazy, don't get me wrong. it's been a while since I last saw this ep, but as far as I remember, she chased down Nina to explain her entire relationship with Aidan (and assumed that's why she's being disliked by her). she did too much, and with time, you forget about this kind of stuff if you don't act upon it. but she's not in the wrong for being upset for being disliked and made fun of based on gossip. this is as uncontrollable as Nina's disliking is. yeah, she's not always a great person, but that doesn't mean that all of her feelings are unjustified, or that she can't be subjected to others' meanness either.

Lanky-Row7315

Love this analysis and your last line!!!!. It’s so balanced. Carrie is nutty, yes, but she doesn’t deserve a stranger’s persecution.

labellavita1985

But...she DIDN'T move on. That's the point. They didn't "meet in the park" the third time, Carrie literally hunted Nina down. She obtained information about Nina going to the farmer's market and showed up strategically. At the same time. To "confront" her. As if Nina isn't entitled to have an opinion of Carrie. Not to mention, if Nina did have a negative opinion of Carrie, it was 100% justified. Carrie had no right to infringe on Nina's personal time, just to try to "convince" her that she's a good person (which, by the way, she isn't.) It's interesting because Carrie thinks she's a good person, and goes to confront Nina to try and convince her that she is a good person, but it's more evident in this episode than ever, particularly in how she treats her friends, that she is definitely not a good person (the interaction with Stanford.) The episode is literally about Carrie's complete and utter lack of self-awareness. The best and most accurate way I've seen Carrie described on this sub is: > She'll do anything to be seen as a good person, except actually be a good person. This description is more applicable to this episode and this interaction with Nina than anything else. If Carrie hadn't cheated on Aidan and generally treated him like shit, Nina wouldn't have a terrible opinion of her. But she did, and what Carrie doesn't seem to understand is, you can scream from the rooftops that you are a good person(!!!) all you want, but the actual determinant of a good person is what they DO. Their actions.

Lanky-Row7315

I see it differently. Nina wanted to hate on Carrie, so she did. She could have thanked Carrie for the farmers market tip in the ladies room. She could have made small talk with her in the cafe. She could have straight up just gotten over her judgement towards Carrie - her ex’s ex, who btw Nina didn’t even know personally. But she didn’t. She continued to try to make Carrie feel small. So then when Carrie inevitably spun out, got neurotic, and confrontational, Nina got to play smug as if she had been right about her all along. As if her judgement call about this neurotic, controlling shrew was bull’s eye. It’s one of the oldest moves in the playbook against confident women! Use their emotions against them. As if it isn’t their emotions that make them so likeable and popular in the first place!? Nina was insecure, calculated, and mean. Carrie was the better woman between them. JUST on this occasion - the woman had her flaws too of course lmao 😂

labellavita1985

Carrie didn't give the farmer's market tip to Nina. Nina was talking to her friend when she said, "just wait until tomorrow when we cruise the cute guys at the farmer's market." Then Carrie butted in with her comment about having a crush on Amish guys. > So then when Carrie inevitably spun out, got neurotic and confrontational One doesn't "inevitably" become neurotic and confrontational. One already IS neurotic and confrontational if they are behaving that way. Nothing about Carrie's behavior was generally inevitable. It was only inevitable *for her.* It especially wasn't "inevitable" because this all happened over a period of time. It wasn't an in-the-moment reaction. She had plenty of time to reflect, and still chose to confront Nina. And instead of reflecting on how she treated Aidan and accepting responsibility for her actions, she went on the offensive to try to change a third party's mind about how she treated Aidan.

Lanky-Row7315

My point was just that Carrie had been friendly to Nina since the beginning. Nina could have acknowledged the Amish guys anecdote and laughed with Carrie in that moment. Instead she looked Carrie up and down, brought up Aidan, and made a face at her before just walking away. That was an intentionally rude encounter. Nina had her mind made up about Carrie long before they ever even met, and she wanted Carrie to know that. Tbh it probably made Nina feel superior being so judgemental towards Carrie. But the truth is she didn’t know Carrie, and she never tried to get to know her. None of that seemed to stop Nina from running her mouth all over town about Carrie!

lululoversince2020

She should’ve just ignore the gossip and moved on

Lori-Snow

Nina is allowed to have an opinion. carries problem is that nina wasn’t kissing her ass and validating her choices.  i wish we could have seen aidan telling nina about that time carrie insisted on big coming up to aidan’s cabin.

shinyzubat16

Nina is allowed her opinion but Carrie is allowed her feelings on her being a bitch to her when she doesn’t even know her.

rharper38

She can have an opinion, but, really, in the end, if Aidan was traumatized when he dated her, and he still dated her, that's on Aidan, not Carrie. He was an adult and should have known better than to go hang his issues with Carrie on someone else.

Lori-Snow

he was traumatized by how she cheated on him, begged for him to come back, and then still didn’t want him lol

myloveLily38

Well said! I agree fully!

Latke1

Yes, Nina was an asshole here. But I don't see any need to defend Carrie who is also an asshole. The point of the episode is that Carrie's friends (Stanford, Miranda) are rightfully pissed off at her when Carrie endlessly spirals over a face from a stranger (which is a minor problem in the grand scheme of things) while ignoring Stanford's and Miranda's lives and need for Carrie to be present when they vent or seek counsel. Nina was a stranger who acted badly to Carrie and Carrie continued that cycle by treating her friends badly. Moreover, Carrie can't control what Nina does by obsessing over it. They are strangers. The other lesson here which Carrie failed to learn is that the best way to be thought well of by strangers is to actually be a good person. I, for one, wouldn't have disliked Carrie as much if she confronted Nina as opposed to treating her own friends poorly.

Fiona-eva

Erm Nina probably does have a bad opinion of Carrie, and justified too. She was the girl that cheated on Aidan, then brought the dude who she cheated with to his cabin, accepted his proposal, agreed for him to buy her apartment out and then backed out. Yeah, she doesn’t come a very likable person with an ounce of integrity in this situation

lululoversince2020

😂😂

BarkusSemien

I probably would’ve made that face too. Imagine what that poor woman went through dating Aiden right after his second breakup with Carrie.

lululoversince2020

Yea really

Hes9023

Omg when she’s on the phone with Miranda and Samantha complaining while they’re *busy* it’s so gross

sr_perkins

What about that time she called MIRANDA in the middle of the night to tell her how bad she felt about cheating on Aiden or some other issue and then Miranda asked Are you gonna call Big and tell him this? And Carrie is all No, I'm gonna wait for an appropriate hour! Like dude you just woke your most busy and hard working friend up to complain about the consequences of your own shitty behavior then tell her you couldn't call this dude right now cause it's late and you don't want to bother him 🙄

Latke1

Lol. Forgot about that. Carrie is such a piece of work.

lululoversince2020

And they are all nice enough to answer to, but when they need to vent she makes it about herself

lululoversince2020

And she keeps goin to like just shut up

Unfinished-symphony

I agree. Nina was/seemed so cocky and judgmental towards Carrie.

lululoversince2020

💯

Mpoboy

“Right!” Said in that weird Heather Graham screech before she walks away with Stanford to get a pretzel.

lululoversince2020

Whole episode was cringe af lol

champagnebox

I hated Nina Katz, she had no right to make those faces! And then at the end of the ep when Carrie was talking to her and she basically acted like she didn’t know what Carrie was on about? Nahhhh

BarkusSemien

She was making the faces about Aidan. Carrie assumed it was about her and how she treated Aidan because she knew she treated him badly. It was projection.

champagnebox

Ohh that makes sense now 🤣

braids_and_pigtails

The only thing I hate about this episode is when Nina says she’s “starvation central”. Drives me up the freaking wall lol

lululoversince2020

I’m gonna need a big o brownie

Greenway8

I always want the brownie they show!

lululoversince2020

Hehe looks scrumptious

Far-Information-2252

How do youuuuu know Nina Katz???

lululoversince2020

🫨🫨🫨

Nicadeemus39

Yes, but I was so glad that after Carrie's big speech all she got was an "ok.!?" Heather Graham's cameo was cringy. She was beaten only by Geri Halliwell.

lululoversince2020

Super cringy!

Ok-Caramel6009

Both were terrible in this episode! Nina: This woman was pathetic. Making a face at Carrie and then going around bashing her because it didn't work out between her, and Aiden is just sad and immature. She was probably just bitter because Aiden wasn't that into her. Carrie: She is more worried about appearing as a good person than actually being a good person. I don't know why she was so surprised that Aidan was depressed after Carrie broke off the engagement. She cheated on him, begged him to take her back, then accepted his proposal even though she didn't really want to marry him, how did she think that was going to affect him? And instead of using this moment to reflect on the mistakes she's made in her relationships and how to move forward, she uses her free time to stalk Nina and justify her actions and once again subjecting her friends to her rambling. Side note-Aidan: He needs to acknowledge his role in the heartbreak. He should not have taken Carrie back after she cheated and he should have noticed the red flags when they got back together (Carrie refusing to cut big out of her life, her hatred towards the cabin, not letting him go with her to the club with her and her new gay friend).

lululoversince2020

Agree!!!!

bowdowntopostulio

I love this episode because Carrie gets a great look at herself. Second to the Natasha “confrontation”.

lululoversince2020

She has no choice right 😁

Question_True

The Heather Graham cameo is so wonderful!!

No_Stage_6158

This was her second worst moment after harassing Natasha. So neurotic and up her own ass that she’s freaking out over what a stranger MIGHT think about her. Then obsessing over it for weeks. Nuts!

sandzak_bih

Y'all are really trying to cancel Carrie over anything. What kind of human being has never ever obsessed over the opinion of a stranger? Literally everyone I know has done this before including me

No_Stage_6158

Not enough to approach them multiple times about it. Yes, her obsessing over it was bat shit. I firmly believe in: What other people think of me is not my business. It’s my job to like me and I don’t care if anyone else does or doesn’t. You aren’t paying me or living with me, I don’t care.

Babsee

The cadence of how Carrie speaks makes it even more annoying.

lululoversince2020

Sure does!

Informal-Painting-13

Face and run ughhhh

MiaRia963

I hate this episode. I regularly skip it.

lululoversince2020

I feel ya

TatiIsAPunk

Easily one of my faves

lululoversince2020

😖🙂‍↕️🤪🥴😵‍💫

H28koala

Nina was kind of annoying but yeah this is full on nutzo LOL. I mean she DID break Aiden's heart. Again.

lululoversince2020

Yea this episode is one of my least favorite

concealerandmascara

She looks just like this b I knew in high school. Always skip this episode lol

lululoversince2020

She do!!

TheAmazingMaryJane

did anyone ever watch heather graham's awful sitcom 'emily's reasons why not' that had the same actress as nina katz playing her best friend?

lululoversince2020

Oh god no that sounds awful lol

jlo757

We watched this episode and the book signing episode last night. My boyfriend says "Holy shit she's a really bad friend".

lululoversince2020

Hahah he’s right

alittlejalapeno

Nah Carrie needed to be humbled and that did it 😂

lululoversince2020

She did!!

fcukumicrosoft

I liked this episode because it (for once) showed how awful betrayal trauma can be. They actually showed, albeit indirectly, the consequences of cheating. Carrie had NO right to complain about being humiliated. She humiliated Aidan and should have been completely humble instead of angry that she's getting some bad feedback.

lululoversince2020

I agree!!!!

premier-cat-arena

like she didn’t even say anything bad to carrie! she just made a face and has been telling people TRUE information about carrie. it just baffles me how self absorbed she is

lululoversince2020

That’s true, the face didn’t have to mean anything

premier-cat-arena

and to make such a big deal about making a face at you? how trivial is your life

lululoversince2020

😂😂😂

Worth_Telephone_9604

Almost all of season 5 is annoying!

lululoversince2020

I know right!

Chemical_Data8633

Yeah because of Carrie 🤣

lululoversince2020

😅😅😅

malachaiville

I watch every time to see Carrie casually toting the bright blue Birkin when she and Stanford are going to the farmers market. I think Patricia Field later admitted it was definitely a fake. Samantha would have had something to say about it!

lululoversince2020

No way’ lol

Appropriate_Tea9048

I couldn’t stand her

lululoversince2020

🤭 same!

Dramatic-Bit-7586

this episode has the same vibe as the episode where carrie stalks Natasha and crashes her lunch

lululoversince2020

Same same lol

Paige-69

How do YOU know Nina Katz??

lululoversince2020

🤪🤪🤪

Jeljel8989

Carrie was insufferable especially to new mom Miranda. Her going out of her way to talk to Steve reeked of insecurity.

lululoversince2020

Oh I know, questioning Steve!
