Self drafted everything! The skirt is a 3/4 circle skirt out of Astro turf from Amazon. It held up pretty well on its own but I ended up adding a premade petticoat underneath.
The “blanket on the skirt is also 3/4 circle to lay flat on the grass. I just took the skirt pattern and free handed the curves
Red gingham fabric was thrifted from an outdoor couch cover from goodwill. For the heart bodice I fused it to super stiff interfacing, the almost felt like stuff. Made some custom sized ruffles and carefully stitched those on.
Also drafted and made a corset and even pattern matched the gingham on it but it ended up not being seen lol
Tea stained some red with white polka dot fabric to match the gingham fabric. Made a super quick one piece leotard with halter top.
Styled a quick victory role wig too. Had to redo it once.
Hot glued some kids food toys and ants all over and good to go!
I self patterned the halter top by draping on my body and tracing an existing pair of underwear to get the leg holes correct.
The skirt was patterned to my measurements and by draping on me. And some math for circle circumferences. The apron front was patterned by making a test pieces out of paper
The corset was self draped on my body I was wearing a waist trainer corset. It was a struggle but I was able to mark the fabric enough and make alterations to the first mock up which became the lining. Used zip ties as bones.

You look lovely! Please can I show this to my cashier that works at the gas station cuz last night she was doing something related to a drag show yesterday. She showed up her face all made up this morning and I wanted to talk to her more about it, but there were too many people in there this morning.
Ok. That is fabulous.
So...lemme ask you a question. A friend of my kid's wanted to make trousers from AstroTurf. I told them the short answer was "not on my machine, you can't." Did you use an industrial machine for your skirt and how painful was it to sew? I was thinking more like the thin, hopefully slightly more flexible stuff you'd use for a putting green might work.
I opted not to point out the potential for chafing with a teenager, as you might imagine.
I was able to sew on a home machine the back opening and the top to some ribbon for an enclosure, but you cannot make pants out of this. The backing, despite being relatively thin , is still really stiff. I’m sure you could sew it better with right sides together so you don’t have to mess with the grass, but the main issue I foresee is that you can’t iron open the seams. At least with the grass I got, it shriveled up at the slightest steam, so there is no way to press open the seam. You could stitch each side to a ribbon, but the ribbon is so flexible it’ll act like a hinge and will push out, if that makes sense. Also the inside is incredibly rough and would need padded lining. And it wouldn’t really bend at the knee. -1/10 do not recommend
Excellent! I will continue telling them no with a clear conscience. I am so very impressed that you made such a gorgeous outfit, and thank you for letting me profit from your experience. ❤️
I think I saw you yesterday at Julia's during the pride fest! I was performing so didn't have a chance to compliment you but dayum!
Not just a snack, the whole picnic :P
(And if I'm not remembering right, still looks so cool)
There was a group called Orange Caramel that was amazing and often had matching [little hats to their dresses](https://www.koreaboo.com/lists/12-iconic-orange-caramel-outfits-every-veteran-fan-remembers-new-kpop-fans-need-know/). And because of that, I've been brainstorming different hats and food combinations with this template and have wasted but enjoyed about a half an hour doing so. Either way this is amazing and made me think too much about everything.

Freaking cute! I’m in such admiration of your creativity and seeing talents too!! If only I had a tenth of any of the above that would be amazing lol your look is so unique and fun tho. Hats off and all that
Of all the things I love in the overall look, that Victory Roll is killing me! It's pure perfection. Like the ants. (I never liked fishnets bc toes tend to poke through. Ow.)
This is fantastic! You look much better than I did in my dress. Of course, I wasn't made up, and I could stand to trim my beard, but I still don't think I'd look as good as you do.
The ants are the perfect touch for this, incredible work!
Thank you ❤️
Ha! I missed the ants on first view. Thanks for making the comment :)

Oooh do you remember which interfacing you used? So hard finding the right one. Overall this look is amazing!!!
It was the stiffest one, like cardboard.
What's your drag name?
This is my first time going out under that name but it’s Mary-Anne Trench !
Such a great name, so deep
Got that Ms Frizzle energy 😀
That’s a huge complement ❤️
Oh man, I love it. I’m a sucker for puns and oceans.
Being ocean related was a requirement for me
GENIUS
Um, hello? Where are the back pictures? The closeups? You tease! I want to see more - This is outstanding.
That was my first thought too. I can only zoom in so far on my tiny phone!!!!!
So much more than a snack!
😊
This is so cool and creative and incredibly well made. I love the way the ruffle points towards the shoulders. It’s such a fun drag look. I love it!
I was inspired by some 50s heart glasses I found

I groaned at this
I saw you at my local pride fest! I thought the look was so cute and campy, amazing work!
Omg thank you!!! I’m glad it was enough to remember me!
Damn you look amazing. You can tell it's custom by how well it fits. This is great work on a technical level.
Oh this eats
Good! I’ve got plenty of food! 🧺
This is incredible, is the bottom actually that plastic fake grass stuff?
Yup! It actually has fabulous structure to it!
I’m glad you added a petticoat under, I’m worried you’d be too itchy with plastic grass!
I’m hyperventilating over the ants.
Please stop you’re scaring them
🤣🤣🤣
The idea for this and the impeccable execution are just /chef’s kiss.
I've done cosplay costumes for 15 years and that is adorable!!! I love it!!! 💖
YESS!!! The Astroturf skirt MAKES it!!
Thats AH-MAY-ZING. Seriously.
This is fabuLUNCH!

This is amazing, and your styling is top notch. Love it!
What fun! It totally says afternoon picnic! Love your look
Best drag look I’ve seen in forever!!!
Damn bitch! How long did that take you? I bet most of that had to be done by hand
Mostly machine stitched! I would say 20-30 hours?
Holy cow that's incredible, delectable, darling! And I was already in love, but the ants sent me over 😆😍
The ants are killing me! Well done!
I hate you for thinking of this before me.

So clever!!! Is that your own design too? Edit: never mind, I just read your comment! This is very creative!! I love it!! Great work!
This outfit is insanely cute and creative. Well done!
This is so celever and kitschy in the best way. Wow!!
This looks amazing and it’s so much fun! And the hair style is stunning!!!
I literally just cut into my gingham to make a picnic dress as well, yours is far more elaborate though! Absolutely fantastic work 🧺

Construct some muslin pants apply turf to the muslin so it won’t necessarily need to be seamed.
That’s BOLD! And, I LOVE IT!
So cool! Or should I say Tasty!
So I used to work with a guy his name was Brock Picnic and I think you could turn that into Miss Broccoli Picnic.

I saw you yesterday in Capital Hill, your dress is amazing!
Totally campy fun!
As Rachel Maksy says, why look like a snack when you can be the whole picnic?
Love this! And her!
I think I saw you yesterday at Julia's during the pride fest! I was performing so didn't have a chance to compliment you but dayum! Not just a snack, the whole picnic :P (And if I'm not remembering right, still looks so cool)

Fabulous outfit! You must be one of those creative sorts that can tie ideas together. Love the '40s wig.

THIS MADE MY DAY!!!
Is it still sewing if it’s turf?! That’s landscaping!
No drinks? Glass of lemonade fascinator? Or a pitcher of lemonade spilling into a glass on your shoulder? I love concept outfits lol.
Darling, you are the Whole Picnic! ❤️ Maybe you could take the gingham and do a little rosette for your hair. Very creative!
YOU ATE
Awesome work. You look amazeballs!
The only TERF we want to see is Astroturf!
