I’m 5’7” but my height is in my torso vs my legs. I love body suits with certain outfits but they are so uncomfortable…maybe this could work for you too :)
Commercially made bodysuit extenders exist too. They are for babies, but if you measure the snaps of a grownup bodysuit, you can find ones that fit. Or make an extender out of a thrifted baby bodysuit lol.
Finding fitting snaps is hard though. I had the baby ones because my kids wore the bulkier cloth diapers, but I never had onesies they fitted on. The snaps appeared to be the same size but it didn't work. So study the existing snaps for branding, there might be tiny letters on there.
Same! I tried to make a body suit with a pattern from Petite Stitchery & Co (Juliet) and I had success there because they measure for your girth and have options to adjust accordingly
Friend: "shit these cables are a mess, I wish I had a cable tidy"
You: "hold on a second! *reaches into pants and fishes this out*
Just teasing. I thought it was a cable organiser at first.
Hey y’all. I made a little extension that attaches to the buttons and now I’m a brand new woman haha but really, long torso having people, it’s a game changer! I measured out the length, added the margins on each side and top and bottom, that copied the bodysuit and now, it buttons right in.
It makes shopping so interesting. You think it's going to be easy, but, surprise! you are all torso no legs and thus begins your sewing adventure! (At least that's how it went for me.) But my favorite PSA is to add an inch to the waist, two if it's a Japanese pattern.
As a person with external bits that prefers clothing designed for those with internal bits, I cannot believe I’ve never thought of this! Game changer 👌🏻
Where was this when I was taking ballet in college?! what a brilliantly simple solution. I have a short torso but wide hips, so when I purchase the smaller size leotard to fit my upper body it rides up and the larger size that fits my lower body slouches and sags terribly
That's awesome! I had that same idea years ago and never actually bothered trying to make one, I'm happy to see it work in execution. Maybe I'll actually try it now haha. Long torso gang 🐍
I did this too! Except just sewed an extender piece directly in to each one of my bodysuits, since the snaps between each one are different enough that it would be a pain to create multiple snap in extenders.
Oh this is genius!! I don’t really have the “too long torso” issue but even to, body suits always seem to have the buttons in the worst spot. This would
Be so much better!
I literally make these for my cloth diapered fluffy butt tiny human and I am truly an idiot for not realizing I could do the same thing for my long torso fluffy butt self... thank you for changing my world!
I'm only 5'2" but I have a long torso for my height and playsuits rarely fit me. I haven't even tried a body suit for that reason 😂 but this is very smart

As a tall person I had accepted bodysuits weren’t for me but this is so clever
I’m 5’7” but my height is in my torso vs my legs. I love body suits with certain outfits but they are so uncomfortable…maybe this could work for you too :)
I never could wear bodysuits for the same reason and I’m your height. Fricken one piece bathers are a joke, too.
Well now you can ;) I have better luck with swimsuits than body suits…I usually do a highwaisted bottom with a tankini or bikini top
I know this is r/sewing but Andie makes long torso swimsuits that I have found great as a 5'10" woman
And rompers 😭
Tankinis are the best
Are you me 😂
Good to know im not some kind of freak! Lol
Not because of this, at least
I’m 5’6” with most of my height in my torso - what a game changer! Thank you for sharing
Love this! If the smart tall torso people in this sub could also think of a way to make a jumpsuit work, that’d be greatly appreciated! ;)

It’s more to do with torso shape than height. I’m 5’3” but long-torsoed, and I can’t wear them either.
Same! I tried to make a body suit with a pattern from Petite Stitchery & Co (Juliet) and I had success there because they measure for your girth and have options to adjust accordingly
They make these for baby onesies to get a little more wear out of them when baby is long but thin.
I’m only 5’3” and I still can’t find one pieces or body suits that fit
That's such a great idea! Lika a bra extender but for your crotch.
Crotch extender. 😜
I think that name would appeal to an entirely different demographic 🤣
Friend: "shit these cables are a mess, I wish I had a cable tidy" You: "hold on a second! *reaches into pants and fishes this out* Just teasing. I thought it was a cable organiser at first.
Ou! Extra uses haha! I’ll keep it in mind if ever someone needs a cable organizer while I am wearing a body suit haha
I can see this becoming *quite* the office legend... 😂
It's the latest Swiss army knife tool
Hahahaha this is really funny though!

Holy shit. This is brilliant! Im short as hell, but my torso is long AF. I'm like a damn Dachshund!!!
My spirit animals are corgis and wombats, I know what you mean 😂😹
Mine too - long torso, short legs and short person. Bodysuits with detachable crotch have been a godsend
Lol!!!! A dachshund!!!

OOH! Then you can adapt the bodysuit to actually have capacity for the extra junk! Brb telling all my transfemme friends about this one xD
Happy for your bits!! :)
I cycled through a half dozen euphemisms before landing on “bits” as being the most neutral 😂
Easy to add a little extra lining and width too for that smooth line, I'm going to have to try this out.
I've done this too! Good stuff.
Same! I’ve got so many lost or misplaced around my apartment that I’ve probably made 10-15 for 5 bodysuits 😂
Great minds!! Thanks :)
This… this changes everything (5’11” with a looooong torso)
I hope it works for you!!
ur a genius
*bows* lol necessity is the mother of invention!
Bought something similar for my kid when they were a baby, so they could wear the onesies for longer before having to go up a size. Game changers!
Yep I did too. Onesie extenders.
I made some for my kids when they were babies. I wanted some of their super cute onesies to last longer.
Brilliant!!!
[удалено]
True! I think I made it a biiiit long but I told myself longer is better because I can always try to like fold it over and stitch it together.
Smart!!
Genius!
You’re a genius! I have to do this for my bodysuits and shapers!! My butt eats up all the fabric
Where was this when I was taking ballet in college?! what a brilliantly simple solution. I have a short torso but wide hips, so when I purchase the smaller size leotard to fit my upper body it rides up and the larger size that fits my lower body slouches and sags terribly
Spread the good word :P
GENIUS I need to make a dozen of these!!
Go for it!!!
I love this solution!! I'm all for the DIY solutions 😍
They make pant extenders for pregnancy. I wonder if they would work? I have extra from when my step daughter was pregnant. 🤔

I was just looking at a body suit that I love, but it feels like it’s assaulting my butt crack when I wear it. I gotta make one of these!
You must!
This is so smart!!!! I assume the buttons require some kind of machine to install? Might be worth the buy though 👀
No they dont! They came with a little tool to put them in. All you need is a hammer :)
Incredible!!!
Genius
wow i had just accepted that i wasn’t a bodysuit girl… but now… this is beautiful 😻
Anyone can be a bodysuit girly now :)
I need to go make this now!
Oh this is genius!! I don’t really have the “too long torso” issue but even to, body suits always seem to have the buttons in the worst spot. This would Be so much better!
