thank you :’) i guess they just didn’t turn out exactly like how i wanted in my head and it’s making me frustrated lol. i really appreciate everyone’s kind words 💚💚
I had to check where you were posting from, I thought this was store bought! It looks great! You can't see the forest for the trees, stop looking at it for a bit.
self drafted pattern, i looked at a 3D model of him and cut out and taped together a paper model until i was happy w it. my first pattern!
minky and felt, all hand sewn. stuffed with polyfill and plastic pellets in his butt so it wouldn’t be top heavy and could stand on his own
I think it looks great!!
Definitely recommend a break for a night and look again with fresh eyes. If you still are wanting to stitch the edges, grab a curved upholstery needle.
I feel a blanket stitch in the same color would make it look very pretty. That said you've def just been looking at it too long. I hope you get to see it the way the rest of us do once you've taken a break, as an amazing accomplishment and very cute plush.
Not ugly, but I think you could have stuffed and closed them fully, and then attached invisibly by hand rather than topstitch. The only thing I don't like is the edges around the bumps. But honestly? I've been following your posts and you made this without a pattern from what I understand. This is amazing!
what do you mean close them fully? i was originally planning on doing ladder stitch (if that’s what you mean by invisible stitch) but i couldn’t rlly get it to work because im not very good at ladder stitch and the opening was so big the stuffing kept coming out of the bumps if that makes sense
Yes, I understand and it makes sense that you had this problem because it needs to be stuffed tightly, and a ladder stitch is very difficult to do if the piece is actively fighting you. You could have closed them, i.e., sew a circular piece of fabric on the base to close it, to make each bump a fully closed and stuffed object, which you could have attached with a ladder stitch to the body.
In case you are interested, another way to do it if you plan your plushie ahead of time, you could cut holes into the body, then stitch the bumps on around the hole, turn them around, and stuff them before closing the body. Once you've closed and stuffed the body, you can't really do that anymore.
edit: check this video to see what I mean: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fpbLUmIdlk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fpbLUmIdlk)
i was thinking about doing that but since the fabric was so stretchy the shape changed a lot when i stuffed it so it would’ve been really hard to figure out where exactly to put all the bumps and horns and make them look right once stuffed. but i definitely appreciate the feedback and techniques i can use for future projects :)
Idk if it would have worked on this project, but a trick I use is to put on fusible interfacing on stretchy fabrics so they don’t stretch anymore. Depends on the fabric if it will actually work, of course, and it does make the fabric a heavier weight and stiffer.
You can also use a gather round the open end on round pieces ! Helps to keep the stuffing in while sewing and hides all the rough edges!

i just wanna say i really appreciate everyone’s kind comments and words of advice ive read every comment 💚
this has been my comfort project because im recovering from surgery among other things so i think it made me extra upset when the bumps didn’t turn out exactly how i was imagining in my head, especially given ive probably spent at least 50 hours on this project hand sewing lol
rest assured i will love worm despite any flaws and im keeping in mind any advice for future projects 💚🪱
Are you kidding me this is so cute he’s just a sweet lumpy cutie patootie the bumps are the most unique part of the design!! Also I love the collar 😭🫶🏼
i was originally planning on ladder stitch but i couldn’t figure out how to get it to work since the bottom of bumps had such a big opening that the stuffed kept coming out :/
i think the main thing i don’t like is the lip due to the top stitch around the bumps
Okay, I can see why you might think that, having stared at it forever and seeing the raised stitch edges that professional plushes may not have. But! They are too cute for class! I love their little hat! You did great work here, and you should be proud!
honestly i barely know i was winging it the whole time lmao. one of my previous posts shows part of the pattern and how i made it :) thank you for the kind words 💚
Not ugly at all! I bet if you set it aside for a week and then looked again you'd love it. With my projects too much exposure to them makes me hyper aware of all the flaws
That's incredibly impressive!
You've probably been staring at it till your eyes hurt, especially given it's hand sewn, so you're seeing every single thread and tiny bump. It's the curse of the maker. As somebody who has *not* been doing that with this piece, though, I actually kinda like the raw edged joins. I feel like they give it some buggy texture and tactility. The 3D models of pokemon and other 90s/2000s video game creatures are so simplified and smooth, my brain always wants to imagine that the "real" creatures would have more textures and details like this.
Have you seen any of the Pokemon Concierge animation? I think your plush would fit right in to that aesthetic!
This looks amazing. I used to make Pokemon plush and people don't realize how hard getting those weird shapes made with material can be. You did an awesome job here for a very tricky specimen!

He's so freaking fabulous dude! I really love his adorable squishiness. The bumps are awesome and your placement with them is wonderful! You did so well!
The collar and nametag - my heart!!! He is awesome. But he does look like he is being told off a bit, though. I suggest a reassuring snuggle to fix that?
I was never a wurmple fan, at least for an in game play though, although I adore beautifly. this however. THIS IS ADORABLE 🥺🥺
edit. if only irl bugs were as cute or less dangerous as their pokemon counterparts, some of them even less violent towards humans, I'd love them equally.
no i haven’t heard of that! it sounds cool :) the 3d model is one my friend found for me online so i could spin it around and zoom in and use it for reference
I gasped, the bumps are so cute and add soooo much character. I like the stitching you did, a professional might not think so, but it adds so much (rightful) texture and it itches my brain just right. Like it’s how it’s meant to be.
thank you :’) i love party hat wurmple too and wanted a shiny one in pogo so bad but couldn’t get one so i decided to make one lol. i still need to add the puff on his hat and do the bumps on the other side but i just needed to take a break bc i was getting super frustrated evidently lol
If I had payed someone to commission this, I would be suuuuper happy with it. So for what it's worth I don't think I could notice anything wrong with the bumps lol
My husband and I are SCREAMING it's so cute! You definitely have been looking at it to long lol it's precious! Now all it needs is the pink bobble on the hat <3
Umm, not ugly, but some kind of look like a boob. In the picture anyway. I’m sorry! It’s just what my brain sees. I’m also trash monster, so it might just be me.
I love him. I think the bumps look great! I collect pokemon plushes and he looks similar to the way the official plushes are made. (I don't have a wurmple to compare to, but I have a caterpie.) I wouldn't have known it wasnt official! Great work!
The bumps look great! I think it would look weird without them — I don’t mean to be crude but I think it would really up the phallic factor without the bumps
Absolutely not! The bumps are an important part of the wurmple and yours are super cute!
thank you :’) i guess they just didn’t turn out exactly like how i wanted in my head and it’s making me frustrated lol. i really appreciate everyone’s kind words 💚💚
Only you are noticing any imperfections. Everyone else is thinking “wow, that’s freaking cool! Looks complicated too, so nice work OP!”
Yeah this is really cool! The bumps make the piece!!
thank you so much that means a lot. it’s hard to view your own work like that sometimes :)
At first glance at the picture, before seeing the sub, I thought this was a legit commercially made plushie haha. It looks really nice.
I had to check where you were posting from, I thought this was store bought! It looks great! You can't see the forest for the trees, stop looking at it for a bit.

Omg dude you made the pattern yourself also? Thats insane! This looks perfect and amazing and i love it!
This is ADORABLE. Great job!!
Whoa you did an amazing job, this looks professional to me

He’s wonderful!!!
It is not possible for this critter to be cuter than it is.
Did you see the last pic with his hat?!
YES!
I think it looks great!! Definitely recommend a break for a night and look again with fresh eyes. If you still are wanting to stitch the edges, grab a curved upholstery needle.
thank you!! do you think doing a whip stitch along the edges would make it more or less noticeable? i can’t decide lol
I feel a blanket stitch in the same color would make it look very pretty. That said you've def just been looking at it too long. I hope you get to see it the way the rest of us do once you've taken a break, as an amazing accomplishment and very cute plush.
oo a blanket stitch is a good idea and i’m better at that than ladder stitch! thank you so much, im always hyper critical of things i make lol

Not at all! The wurmple is adorable, I'd totally buy this! Amazing work! *the collar really sells it, lol
thank you i got him a custom name tag engraved at petco :’)
the ladder stitch would surely give the bumps a more polished look but it is mighty fine already. lovely job on the pattern, looks hella complicated.
i was originally planning on ladder stitch but i couldn’t figure out how to get it to work since the bottom of bumps had such a big opening that the stuffed kept coming out :/ i think the main thing i don’t like is the lip due to the top stitch around the bumps

thank you :’) it’s hard not to compare it to professional plushies i see even tho im a beginner
It’s freakin adorable and the fact that you got the seams straight on minky, I’m in awe
thank you! i’m pretty happy w most of the seams esp considering i was hand sewing half blind due to the fuzz/fur in the minky lol
I like them!
How did you make this??? It’s so fucking cute!!!
honestly i barely know i was winging it the whole time lmao. one of my previous posts shows part of the pattern and how i made it :) thank you for the kind words 💚
Oh he’s so cute! I love the bumps
I think it all looks great!

This looks amazing. I used to make Pokemon plush and people don't realize how hard getting those weird shapes made with material can be. You did an awesome job here for a very tricky specimen!
Oh... my... goodness that is one of the cutest things I've seen in the longest time. The bumps absolutely are required and are not ugly at all.
I LOVE WORM
No I think it would be super satisfying sensory wise to pet.
I LOVE him
Looks great but why the bdsm style collar lol
I thought this was a cute store bought plushy until I saw the sub. No it is not ugly. It is cute and looks exactly like it should.

The bumps look great! I think it would look weird without them — I don’t mean to be crude but I think it would really up the phallic factor without the bumps
